We will be arriving at about 1:30 at MCO on August 9, a friday. I dont have Dollar Fastlane so i was wondering if anyone knows how long the line is at the counter on a typical Friday afternoon. Is it too late to sign up for Dollar Fastlane? Another ?....do you need to bring proof of insurance when renting from Dollar if you dont planon purchasing it. TYIA

We haven't rented from Dollar, but we have a reservation for November. DH joined Fastlane yesterday, and today we got an email saying that we should receive a membership card in 5-8 business days. So, you should have time to join and get your information before you go.

Good luck and have a great vacation!

I signed up for Fastlane yesterday and got my confirmation number today. I won't get my card for "5 - 8 days" and it says you need the card for the rental.

The other thing is that I think your reservation has to be a Fastlane reservation and, if you have to do a new reservation, it might screw up your rate.

I'd certainly give it a try though. If the rate comes out higher, just keep your old ressie.

My understanding is that Fastlane isn't like National's Emerald Aisle where you can go directly to the lot. You still have to go to the counter there is just a separate line for Fastlane members, which should be helpful, but . . .

We rented from Dollar in May, and no you don't have to show
proof of insurance. Just have to sign that you are declining added
insurance. We arrived on a Sat. about noon. The lines had about
10 people ahead of us, but they moved very fast. We didn't wait
more than 10 mins!!

Pardon my ignorance (still new at this!), but what is fastlane? Does it cost anything? I already have a res with Dollor for a minivan for $264 and don't want to lose that price. But if it saves time and money to sign up -- then I'm in!:D

Brenny:

Go to the Dollar website and there is a place to click on to sign up. There is no charge. Once you get your Fastlane number, go ahead and make a NEW reservation (don't cancel your old reservation until you know what you get). If your new reservation is the same or less than what you've got, take it and cancel the former reservation. I do not believe your rate will be affected by being a Fastlane member, but the line should be shorter.

Good luck.

Went and signed up for Fastlane. Should get my stuff in 72 hrs. Time will tell -- hope to save a few bucks! This trip for 5 is getting expensive! Can't complain about the minivan price though -- I thought less than $300, all taxes included, was a great price.

Thanks for the info!

and had them add the fastlane # to my reservation. Used the Entertain code and got an intermediate for $328 for14 days. (That's w/ all taxes, etc.) Everywhere else I could only get an economy unless I paid much more..

Corvair: It's just a code you enter for a discount. Try entering ENTERTAIN as a discount code for Dollar. It should give you a good rate. As far as I know, it has nothing to do with the book.
