Mostly been lurking here, but can't get this medal off my mind. My partner and I signed up for Princess just so we could get Coast to Coast this year. Couldn't make marathon this year (sorta glad, burrr!) and didn't do DL half last year. Just wanting to know who's planning on getting it done this year?

I think there will be quite a few doing this. The DLR is seriously on my list. Pop on over to the DLR half marathon thread--I think you'll see a few people mentioning it!

ME.ME,ME, I'm in!!
I was going to start a thread for the Coast to Coast but you beat me to it!!
The original plan was that I was going by myself and staying with friends who are also running. Then DH says, when are we going to get to DL, so we (him and DD) will come too.
Then tonight he calls his dad who ran the Donald with me. Now FIL says he's in too.
DH is out right now getting the Unofficial guide to Disneyland.
I have never been to California, and the group of us that ran in FL would be together again for DL.

I wish I could do it again this year (did it in 2009) but the money just isn't there, especially with the Wine & Dine that I'll be doing.
Perhaps in 2011.:thumbsup2

Last year at disneyland was my first half marathon.
This year will be my first Coast to Coast. I ran the freaking WDW Marathon just to get this medal. I shall cherish it as I wear all three medals (my Mickey, My Castle, and the Coast to Coast) and clang loudly throughout Disneyland after the race.

Lynn and I will be at DL for the 1/2, will be our third Coast to Coast.
Always a fun time for sure.
I am definitely in for the Coast to Coast this year. Couldn't resist getting the Fab 5 of medals with 2 fifth anniversary medals in it.

I'm definitely thinking about it but waiting to see what airfare is like. Right now, it's over $1000/pp on Air Canada and SW doesn't have a schedule for September out. For DL, the closest airport is LAX?
What are hotel rates like? Do you have to stay at a DL hotel?

If I can book hotels, air travel, trip to Vegas afterwards, I'm in.
I'll know in about 10 days (when I hit the 7 month DVC window.............)

I know about the air. SWA doesn't come out until 3/23. We are looking at Continental for about $400 each. SW is not much less it seems though.
As far as airport, there are 4 in the area-LAX, Burbank, Orange County and Ontario. When I tried them, SW said they were no longer flying into Orange County or Ontario. LAX is cheaper because it is larger I think.
There are only 3 "Disney" hotels, and all are expensive. They have the "Good Neighbor" hotels, which you can get packages with. I am still researching them for our trip, I will let you know what I find out. I did read on the Disney Endurance site that you can pre-order special rate park tickets for friends and family if you are running the half. This seems strange to me, considering that it doesn't happen for WDW, but maybe because it is a smaller event:confused3 I will have to call and check on it.
We are working on the planning now, and waiting on my FIL to decide if he is going.

I'm pretty sure I'm in. When I told my wife I want to go medal chasing, she mentioned it to her parents. Her father, who won his age group at the Donald half, likes medal chasing too, so it might be a big family trip. Where's the best and/or cheapest place to stay?

You and I must be sharing a brain wave!! I have spent the afternoon researching. There is a company contracted by DL to do packages for the DL Half, can I mention it here?? It is GET travel dot com. We worked the numbers, seems like a good deal. WAAAY better than rack rates at least. They do some of the Good Neighbor hotels as well. We are a bit concerned about using a travel company we have no experience with or feedback on, am hoping that someone will be familiar with them. I know nothing about DL or the hotels, we are planning on staying at the Disneyland Hotel, as this may be our only trip to DL, at least for quite a while.
Anyone else have any thoughts or input?

Well we are now "official". We bought plane tickets and booked our room and ticket package. I registered everyone for the race (DH and DD are doing the 5k; FIL and I the half)
Only 7 months to go!!

Did you end up using the travel company? I'm still undecided but wondering if I should book a hotel room now and then cancel it later.

We did use get travel dot com. The guy Bill called DH after he sent in a request for a quote. He actually has run DL as well. The discount on Disneyland Hotel was not mind blowing, but it was better than paying rack rate. Park tickets were discounted too. They do offer the good neighbor hotels as well. They do not do airfare unless you have a group of 10 or more (only 4 of us). Probably better to book and cancel than not have something, but I know NOTHING about DL. WDW, I am all over that like Body Glide on my chubby thighs, but DL, nope sorry I know zippo.

Bill is a nice guy. Park tickets are a good deal. I have met him as his office is only about 10 miles from where I live. I saved on shipping by picking up my tickets :)
I believe you have until something like 8/1 to cancel for full refund.

Veronica - Same here... I'm trying to learn as much as I can about DL. I was surprised that they only have 3 Disney hotels - lots of other hotels though. I'm trying to get a sense of where the race starts and what transportation is like so I can figure out which is the best hotel. I may opt out of the Disney hotels since the Good Neighbor hotels are so much cheaper.

In case anyone missed it on the DLR Half Marathon 2010 thread, there's now a $20 off discount code out there for the disneyland 1/2: DLTS951

Vicky-I was all for staying at the Best Western Raffles Inn, which is where our LA friends spend the night before the race. But DH says this may be our only time to DL so lets stay at Disneyland Hotel. Plus from the maps I have seen, the race starts and ends right in front and the expo is at the convention center there as well. Mucho convenience. But hey, he's paying, I'm just along for the ride:rolleyes1 (and the Coast to Coast bling of course!!)

I'm in! This will be my 2nd coast-to-coast. My first was 2 years ago.

I'm wondering if SWA just doesn't fly into Orange County or Ontario from your location because they still do from mine - Little Rock. I can still get quotes for this trip through mid-August. LAX is a lot cheaper, though.
Not sure where I'm going to stay, yet. Will depend on other WISHers. I spent big at WDW for the marathon weekend. :guilty: I've got to cut way back on DL. There are quite a few Good Neighbor hotels close to the parks so I can save some by not staying on-site.
Looking forward to seeing everyone. I think we'll have different weather than what we experienced a few weeks ago! :teeth:

I put the graphic for the Coast to Coast on Webshots, I can't quite figure out how to post the link without it actually inserting the picture. I'm happy to share with anyone who wants it, if someone can tell me how to.
