If you were planning a west coast trip (reasonable) before your disney experience, where would you go and why?
Looking for clean beaches, family resort.
Perhaps close to Bush Gardens, or at least a short trip to get there.
Suggestions? Thank you.

We enjoyed the TradeWinds Resort in St Pete Beach.

We've spent time at Siesta Key in Sarasota. It is about 1 hour south of Tampa. It has a great WIDE beach that stretches for a couple of miles. White cool sand, clean water, doesn't get too deep to fast, we see dolphins and sting rays. My DD7 loves it. There is also a small aquarium and animal park nearby. Not sure of any resort names as we stay with my parents who rent a condo in the winter.

I have to second Dave's idea of the Tradewinds Resorts. I live in Pinellas County, FL where all of the west coast beaches are. I specifically have to say that St. Pete Beach is one of best and quietest beaches in this area.

I also have to second this. We spent two wonderful weeks at St.Pete Beach last year. The drive to BG is about an hour to 80 minutes. The beach is just wonderful. We stayed at the Palm Crest Motel, which is siutuated directly on the beach and looks like a Swiss Chatel. It is operated by a nice young couple with kids and very clean. It has a great pool and sundeck overlooking the beach. Here's the link: Palm Crest Motel (http://www.palmcrest.com)

Have fun
