DD has gone through a muddy puddle in her fairly new orange converse canvas shoes and they look a mess. I'm tempted to bung them in the machine (as I've done with cheaper shoes) but am scared they'll fall apart.
Has any one successfully washed a pair?

I have. Not sure it's recommended (both for the shoes and the machine!) and I wouldn't do it too often but they came out clean and no damage :)

My mum ruined my sisters in the washing machine(she put them in without her knowing too), I wouldn't put mine in, wouldn't want to risk it.

Well, I reckon if she won't wear them because they're so dirty then it's worth a try. The worst that can happen is she still can't wear them and the best is that they survive.

I've washed DD's. They came out a little 'curled up' but soon straightened out once she had worn them. They were fine.:)

Well, they survived a gentle cool wash and are in the airing cupboard now - I just hope that they don't shrink as they dry.

I've washed more than one pair of DD's and they've been fine. I didn't even put them on a gentle wash. They didn't shrink and she said that they didn't feel any different than before they were washed.
