Do I have to be engaged to start a PJ? DBF and I are talking about getting engaged and I am actually planning our DFTW but he has not popped the question yet. We are shopping for rings and he asked me to email him some pictures of the style I like, but I also reminded him that he can make his own ring so he liked that idea. I would totally love a ring that he designed, it would be so special. I love him so much and can't wait to marry him and I would love to start telling the world about it but if it is frowned upon to start a PJ without a ring then I completely understand.

Hey lady :) That's really exciting news!!! I didn't start my PJ till we got engaged, but I don't see why you couldn't!! Lots of couples plan their weddings before the official enagement!

I definitely lurked and posted prior to being engaged but didn't start an actual pj until afterward. While it's not officially frowned upon I really enjoyed being able to start mine with "I'm engaged!". Honesty we've changed a lot of our plans since then. I don't see the hurt in waiting and I can't guarentee other disbrides won't get a little upset about a premature pj. I do know it's happened before. I just know I don't care. Then again future sil is not engaged and she won't shut up about her wedding every time we mention mine. And that does upset me.

Ps. Does "without a ring" mean he hasn't actually asked yet? Or he did and you said yes and you are just waiting for the ring. Let's put it this way...do you considered yourself engaged and I think that answers that question.
