We signed up to volunteer on the Jan 1... we chose one of the "contact for details" opportunities. We finally got all the details arranged last week and did the work over the weekend. I didn't realize we had to go back to the website and fill out all the volunteer information, so I just did that today... but, it wouldn't let me put a date in the past, so I had to say that we are doing the work tomorrow. Which means it cannot be verified until tomorrow, at minimum - assuming the organization is really on the ball and gets it done for us.
My question is... we are going to Disney next week... what are the chances we'll get our vouchers in time for our trip?

I completed my project last Tuesday and I already have the tickets if that helps! We leave this week so I was nervous as well but it moved very quickly

What day did you get the voucher? Also did you just go to the site to see if it was there or did it come in an email?
DD16 and I did beach cleanup on Saturday and the coordinator said we should have our tickets in 3 days. According to the site it could take up to 2 weeks (guessing to be on the safe side) we are thinking about going this weekend and we still have 1 day left on our tickets (FL tickets don't expire for 6 months) so worse comes to worse we only go to the parks for 1 day, at least its a weekend away.

We sent our blankets to our local chapter of Project Linus and they got there UPS Monday (Jan 11), our date of service I had put in was Tuesday (Jan 12). The project Linus coordinator confirmed our service on Wednesday (She said it lets them confirm 24 hours after the event).
We had a group of six people signed up (we're a Grand Gathering this year!!) to volunteer and had made six blankets. Oddly enough on Saturday (Jan 16), my parents were confirmed and the rest of us weren't even though I was the primary contact! Sunday (Jan 17) the rest of us were confirmed.
So it was pretty quick! We leave this Saturday (the 23rd) and plan to use the vouchers for FastPasses (we have a 3, 4 and 6 year old going this year so we want to avoid as many lines as possible) and possibly the figurines if the parks are super dead.
We have 6 vouchers total (1 for each of us 6 and up who volunteered), so 6 days of Fastpasses for 6 of the 8 of us, or some days of fastpasses and some souvenirs.

When you first sign up they ask when you plan on going, did you put that you were planning on going on January 23rd? I just ask because I put February, we are now able to go earlier. I booked yesterday for this weekend. Do I need the vouchers? No, we still have at least one day left on our 4 day FL passes but now we are arriving earlier on Friday to make going on Friday feasible. Do i want the vouchers? Yes, I have parkhopping on my remaining day ticket and DD doesn't but I am not going to put parkhopping for one day. If I had the voucher I would upgrade hers to a multiday parkhopper and use that with my remaining day. This is my fault, I chanced the fates by making the ressies without receiving the vouchers, but the rate was the cheapest it will be until Sept. I need some major pixie dust.pixiedust:

With the Project Linus blankets, I e-mailed in for the opportunity on January 4th (I forgot until I saw a commercial that night, oops!) The woman from Project Linus e-mailed me back that night or the next day and told me to pick my own scheduled time. I chose the 12th because it gave me almost the full two weeks before my trip to get the vouchers, and because it would take us that long to make six blankets and ship them (the opportunity was a 90 minute drive each way, so we elected to ship). She didn't ask when we were going.
The only time that we were asked when we were going to Disney was when I printed out the vouchers. For those I said we were going January 23rd, but that doesn't get printed on the vouchers at all.
I think if you sign up for the next available opportunity you can find, you should expect to get your vouchers about a week later (though Disney is saying allow two weeks). The woman at Project Linus said she was hearing it took about a week from people who had let her know that they had received their vouchers.

We volunteered last Saturday, the coordinator there said we would receive them in 3 days. I take total blame for jumping the gun and making ressies for this weekend but the hotel rate I got was good. 2 nights at a ASsp preferred room for $145. So I booked it. What kills me is Disney has sent me a reservation confirmation 7 times, each time I get one after the first one I think its for the vouchers. I am now thinking about modifying for next month or possibly after modifying just cancelling. My parents live an hour away from Disney and we go to their house once a month. We can just run up there for the day anytime we want. Just aggravated at myself.:guilty:

I just went back to the site and it shows "pending verification"... does anyone know if that means they are still waiting to hear from the volunteer site? She was supposed to verify yesterday... I wonder if I should call her and make sure she actually verified our volunteer work?

Technically if you receive them today, it will be three business days... please let us know if you do receive them today.

We completed ours on Monday afternoon and when I check my status on the website it says "Pending Verification The date of the volunteer opportunity has passed. Verification that the volunteer has completed their activity may take up to 2 weeks. " I did get an email thanking us fro volunteering and saying we would get to print our voucher within 2 weeks.
Is that a good or bad sign?

Its not bad it just means they are waiting to hear from the organization you volunteered at and also Hands on Network. I'm guessing that the charity confirms to Hands On and then they confirm to Disney.
I did email the group the I volunteered for and he basically cut and paste the "Thanks for Volunteering" email that I had already received. I did inquire how often they clean the beach, that answer had a different color font to say every 3rd Saturday of the month but other than that no confirmation that they verified me. When we checked in on Saturday we put a check next to our name and then the coordinator signed it. Maybe 100 volunteers were there total. I guess I am just wondering if they are verifying the people that are expected to travel first.

I will let you know. I was able to get off work tomorrow so now we can leave a lot earlier than expected and I would love to be able to go to the park tomorrow. If not we will be able to go Saturday for sure. Maybe we will just hit DTD and go to the movies.

As of 3:30pm still no word. But OMG they keep sending me resort confirmations. I have received 8 so far (3 yesterday and 5 today) I think someone is trying to make me crazy. lmao :rotfl2::rotfl2: The good thing is I paid for standard and my reservation says preferred. So that's good news right?
I just know I will get the vouchers on Sunday, the last day of my little trip.

Possibly but from what I have read the coordinator can't verify until the day after but must complete verification with 72 hours of my volunteering. So I should have been verified by Tuesday at 8am, which would be the time that any MLK volunteers could start getting verified. As of now I still haven't gotten the email with vouchers, we are leaving in about 30 mins so I have stopped worrying about it. Once we get up there we will decide if we will now upgrade our passes to Seasonal Passes or just go only 1 day. I have my iPhone so I will post if we get the vouchers while we are there. Overnight they have sent me 2 more resort confirmations. Receiving 12 email confirmations for my room in the past 62 hours seems a bit much.

Still nothing for me either...I guess kinda getting worries because it was CRAZY when we volunteered. POURING....my name was not on the sheet...but she said it was not accurate or something, so she had everyone sign in...but then that sheet got all wet so she went and re-typed another one. I guess I will wait the full 2 weeks like it says!
I volunteered on Sunday 1/17 (a truly great experience!) and am also in "pending" mode.
In case it's interesting to anyone, I found a set of FAQs for organizations on Hands on Network. I would post the link but the system won't allow it since I have too few posts under my belt. But you can pull it up if you google: handson disney what is required of a verifying organization
It explains that organizations commit to verify participation within 72 hours and could be at risk of removal from the program if they don't. It also says they will get a reminder at the end of 72 hours and another one 72 hours after that. That would seem to reduce the chance that an organization would just lose track of someone.
My guess is that there's a backlog in getting everything processed not only because there were lots of MLK weekend volunteers, but also because there are so many new organizations coming online as the program really gets rolling. The very quick turnarounds some people were reporting may become rarer.

Latest update checked email as we were walking from car to DHS, only one tram running and we right behind AAA Diamond parking. I upgraded our FL 3 day ticket to Seasonal passes, we to get FP for TSM, walked to ToT, DD16 riding I am to chicken it's been 12 years since I rode it.
Anyway just as I sit down to wait and people watch I check my email and there is an email with the vouchers time 8:14, But the good news and pixie dust is that I didn't have DD16 ticket and I had to replace mine in November, DGS3 had gotten ahold of them. So after the upgrade mine says it expires in Nov and DD16 expires one year from now. They should expire in Sept. So now what will we do with the vouchers.
