Has anyone done this? It LOOKS great but is it worth the $$ and the time away from the beach? Part of my group is doing the Atlantis Submarine and we really want to visit Coral World but am trying to figure out how to squeeze it all in plus some shopping of course. Is it doable or should we skip it and concentrate on the beach (Coral World/Cokie Beach)? Suggestions?

If you have an hour, it's a better use of your hour than going shopping. The tramway is a 10-minute walk from the ship.
Here's a <a href="http://www.dcltribute.com/gallery/p233.htm"><font color=blue>photo</font></a> I took from the top.

Most definitely doable. We did Coral World (http://www.coralworldvi.com/launch.htm), which I recommend highly, Lots of shopping in town, and spent a good deal of time up at the top of the tramway. It runs continuously, like a ski lift. Don't miss taking a picture with all the birdies!

Just buy something from her shop, and she'll take polaroids or take pics with your camera.
And, we were by ourselves the day we stopped in St. Thomas :)

As far as shopping, there are a large number of good merchants in a mall setting right there in front of the Magic, so you'll not need to go far to get on :)

We did this as a "quickie" thing on our own after our other excursions, and it was great! My only regret is that we did not have much time...I would have loved to have spent some more time exploring. The view of the ships was great, and we met a lot of passengers from Princess who we chatted with on the way back down. Very scenic and lots of fun. Of course, I am a tramway fan...I've done 'em everywhere from Gatlinburg TN to Alaska.

Thanks for the info. I guess we will fit it in - the kids would love it - as for me....... I'll just close my eyes or sit on the floor until we get to the top   (can you tell I HATE heights and especially ski lift type trams BUT will do it for the kids). The top looks fabulous and I have no trouble when my feet are on the ground! Will have to do all our shopping in St. Maarten!

Would you do the tramway and view at the top with a 3.5yr old boy?. He would love getting to hold the birds!, and Coral World looks wonderful thanks for the link MarkRG.

You're welcome! CW was really the most fun excursion we've done on our trips. As far as the tramway, it's completely enclosed cabins that will seat 4 comfortably that run 3 at a time up and down the hill. And from what I remember, the overlook is well enclosed too.
