I wrote an email to wdwonline, telling them that I'm booked for February (first time in wdw yay!! :cool1:), with the ddp, and consider an upgrade to Dxddp, but I wanted to make sure it was possible to order in-room dining from Jiko's menu (we'll be at AKL).

Here's the answer I got

"Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

We appreciate your interest, in room dining is not offer on the dining
plan.

We look forward to your visit.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.

Sincerely,

Gail Williams

WDW Online Communications

PLEASE NOTE: All information is subject to change without notice and
should be confirmed just prior to your visit. "

I'm pretty sure the room service is included with the dining plan, and it's 2 TS credits??

What do you all think?
I wanted to upgrade to Dxddp in order to be able to order room service, my kids 6 and 3 would love that (and their parents too :rotfl:).

Thanks in advance for any comments ;)

Here is a link to the current DDP brochures for 2010 (for basic dining and deluxe dining). Both list private in-room dining for deluxe resorts. It looks to me like Disney Online has given you incorrect information.

I have never ordered room service at WDW. However my understanding is it was available last year. I do not know if this has changed for 2010.
I think some resorts offer room service. I don't know that it was ordering from a specific restaurant though. :confused3 That may be where the difference is. Room service may be offered, but not what you/they are calling in room dining. :confused3
However I never really looked into the specifics.
I recall seeing room service menus in the resorts that offered it. But I don't know if AKL offers room service or not. I assumed they would since they are a deluxe resort. :confused3

AKL and AKV both offer in-room dining/room service. There should be a menu in your room.

Not that I plan on ordering room service -- but this thread does make me curious...
When a guest orders room service, I "assume" it comes from a general kitchen within the resort. Can specific items be ordered from that resort's restaurant?
Is there a location to view room service menus, like there are for regular menus? (Unofficial and subject to change of course.)

It'll depend on the resort and the restaurant, I'm sure.
