DH and I are going to Paris for a week in May. We want to visit DLP while we are there. Where is the train station to get to DLP?

DLRP is on RER Line A (A4). Whereabouts in Paris are you staying?

We don't know where we are staying yet. That's one of the reasons I was asking. We are thinking of getting an apartment instead of staying at a hotel as its more cost effective (we are coming form the US). We have never been to Paris and are completely lost.

AS already said the line to get to DLP is the RER line A - you will go to the end of the line to Marne la Vallee -
not all the trains go that far though so you will need to make sure the light for that station is lit up (on the platform above you there is a sign and it says which stations the trains stop at) - if that one isnt lit up wait for the next one - they are every few minutes so you wont have to wait long
Look at this plan of the metro / RER to get an idea of wherabouts places are
http://www.ratp.info/orienter/f_plan_ang.php?loc=reseaux&nompdf=metro&fm=gif
The stations in central paris on that line are La Defense, Charles de Gaulle/Etoile (nr the Arc de Triomphe), Auber (nr the department stores and the Old Opera house), Chatelet des Halles, Gare de Lyon and Nation.
If you arent near one of these stations then as you can see you ca link up to one easily with the metro
When you are looking for accomodation the info will usually tell you which is the nearest metro station

If you have a PDA or smartphone there are a lot of applications that will do route planning for you but saying that, it's quite easy to work out from the maps. These run offline so no data charges though some offer live line updates which will cost.
My personal favourite is metro which is free and runs on blackberry, iPhone, Palm, Windows mobile etc. It has maps for all the world's main metros. Some of the paid ones are fantastic, they have tourist info in addition to the planning and some tell you where to sit on the metro trains to speed up changes. The Metro is very fast and efficient, very safe.
It's a great city, you'll enjoy it and DLP is only about an hour or so max from most central places in the city.

When you get off the train at the Marne La Vallée–Chessy station, how far is it to the main gates? Is it within walking distance, and if so, how far? Does anyone have photos showing what area looks like around at the station?

When you come out of Marne la Vallee Chessy station, you are literally at the gates of DLP. 30 seconds in one direction, you're at the entrance to The Village, 30 seconds in the other direction, you're at the security entrance to the gates of DLP :goodvibes. You can't miss either - both are signposted overhead as you exit the station.

Go onto google maps and type in "Disney Paris", then drag the yellow man to the nearest point it will allow you to the RER (has a circle around it and says Gare de Marne-La-Vallee-Chessy so easy to find on the map!).
It'll take you into Street View and you can then see how close everything is and take a virtual walk round the majority of the park by clicking on the arrows.
