I was just curious how often everyone checks these boards. I find myself checking them in the morning, afternoon, and right before I go to bed. My trip is still over four months away, and I have only been planning for about three weeks. I dont know how I am going to pull myself away from reading these everyday after the trip, guess I will have to stick around and start planning our next trip. Is it ok to be addicted? :D Please tell me I am not the only one

I have 2 or 3 bookmarks I check everytime I get on on my computer. This is one of them. The folks who visit here provide tons of great info. Believe me, its OK to be addicted. You are not alone!

Well, it looks like no one else is going to admit it, LOL, but you're not alone! I don't work during the summer and I hope no one is keeping track of how many times a day I log on! My family is running around naked because "I need to check out one more thing" before I start the laundry!

My Name is Chance's mom and I am a DIS addict......;)
I'm not even going to admit how many times I check the boards.

Well, Chance's Mom, the first step is admitting you have a problem! :D
I find myself drifting to the DIS whenever I'm on a particularly boring conference call. And I eat lunch at my desk so I justify checking it out while I'm munching away.

There is always time to check the boards when I am waiting for water to boil, or when a family member decides to call...I cant think of a better way to pass the time.

One of the best parts of a Vacation is planning it!
Yes I am addicted, I love reading these boards, hearing about the great rates that were had, or the wonderful trip reports and even the yucky experiences with CRO. It all adds to the Magic that will eventually be my trip.
I am addicted, and I LIKE it!

I am SO addicted, it sometimes worries me!! I go right to the board EVERY time I log on... I have learned A LOT from these boards though. When I was on vacation the first two weeks of July, I spent more time on DIS than anything else... planning my trip for Thanksgiving.
So you are NOT alone, and at least it's a good addiction!!

My name is Disneydenise and I am a Disneyholic. I am sure I could put my time to better use, cleaning closests or other boring chores. I could also shop more but then I wouldn't have any money to go to Disney World. If I have to have a vice I think this is a good one. I have met some very nice people on the Dis and gotten some great info. I hope I have returned the favor.
Guilty!
Well, I have been on everyday for the past 15 months. I usually book a new trip within 48 hrs of being home- one time I didn't even make it past mid-morning.

Yep, I'm pretty much hooked too. I've been 2 weeks now without a cigarrette so the DIS is now my last vice.LOL Take this away & I'll be left with nothing!

Not only did I continually check these boards AFTER getting back from WDW, I find the only way to appease the addiction is to begin planning your next trip IMMEDIATELY. I'm currently working on two....:p

My name is Nicki and I'm a Disney ADDICT. I can't tell you how many times I check the site because I never shut it off. Every now and then my DH checks his mail but otherwise it's always on. I love the DIS and everyone on it. I love that there is other people out there that are addicted to Disney. Now I know I'm not weird!!!

I am also addicted. Whenever I am bored at work I log on, like I am doing now. I have found so much information from this board. I leave 8/3 and can't wait to use all the information. I'm going to look for the talking wastecan, the talking water fountain, the mayor, the CM name tags, etc, etc, etc. I also love the fact that you ask a question and before the day is over you have many replies. I love you all!!!

It's an absolute compulsion. And my trip isn't until May!!!!!!!!!!!

And congrats to jennymouse!
I find that my favorite e-mails come from the DIS boards. I love checking out the same posts over and over (with additional replies, of course). My typing skills have really improved so I can't complain. This is one addiction that at least I'm learning from. There's so much more to see around here but I rarely ever make it out of just the Resorts forum. Help!!

Me, too. This summer, I find I check first thing in the morning and run back to check multiple times during the day. Today may have been my worst! Other than a trip to WDW, has anyone found a cure?

I admit it, I'm addicted, too. I check these boards daily after work, and sometimes (ok, oftentimes) check again in the evning. DH has started calling me a DisneyManiac, and whenever I am on the computer, he accuses me of "Maniac-ing!" And he's right. ;) He sure does love the trips I plan, though!

I am addicted or obsessed whatever!
I check the board frequently, more so at work because I do have it marked as a favorite and when I am on hold I check to see what is going on, instead of taking a break I check the boards, and for part of my lunch I check the boards, my first 1/2 hour of lunch is walking, gotta get use to walking miles each day at WDW!
I think I have read every guide book and I love the planning stages as much as the vacation itself.
Now that I have upgraded to the WL with the great codes I find myself sneaking a peak at the resorts board a bit more lately. I am slowly but surely going through the WL thread which is over 50 pages long.
I LOVE THIS PLACE AND WDW

I admit it too - I'm hooked! I also think of it as a hobby - until I'm behind on things and check the boards anyway...then, I agree, it's an addiction! I lurked for quite awhile and then finally started posting...and I really think that's when you get even MORE hooked! At least, that's what happened to me! :D

I've graduated from a simple compulsive planner to a WDW addict. I thought it was bad when I had 6 WDW books on my nightstand, rereading them and comparing perspectives nightly. Then I came here... I'm on at least twice a day, must check every forum, and then often will go back and check those books again! We leave on our first family trip (my third) in exactly one month, and I've already started mentally organizing the next three trips I plan to make (and those not until 2005-6!). What will I do when school starts back up and the real world intrudes???
All that aside, this is a fantastic community of addicts. :D

My DS's laugh at me for being so "obsessed" with the Dis (like that's a BAD thing???!?!??!). Even my dH thinks that I'm nuts, too. Well, he sure doesn't think that when I'm busy searching for all the little ins-and-outs for our vacation!! For instance, he bragged to two of his aquaintances how I saved SOOO much $$$ on this trip we will be taking (in about 14 hrs!) As recently as a day ago, I almost paid $61.99 for the 1st day and $69.99 for the 2nd day on a rental of a Dodge Caravan. Guess what?? Because of the DIS, I am now only paying $39.99/day!! If it isn't illegal (the DIS ISN'T illegal, right?), immoral, hurt anybody (ok, so my DFam's sanity is at stake!!;) ), or cost anything, it can't be TOO bad........okay, you can all nod your heads in agreement:wave: !

07-25-2002, 07:13 PM
I have to laugh - we are all SO not alone! I almost had a breakdown when my computer crashed a few weeks ago.
Today I was rebooking my car rental at a better rate - or so I thought - only to check with Avis and found my compact was $155 w/ taxes, etc. Did not rebook ANYTHING! Just felt like I was really starting to lose it!
Checking the boards is what I do to alleviate my anxiety about the trip, my fears about whether everyone will be happy in WDW and whether or not the room at WL is really big enough for 2 adults, DS and DD.
oh, couldn't we all go on & on.... so maybe I'll start a new thread now...?
We're all in it together. Sure helps me through my day.
I think 17 days to go. Lost my clock along with my mind...:jester:

I have been addicted to these boards for a very long time!! I check them almost everyday, practically all year long! I usually go to Disney in July so when January rolls around, my time on the boards begins to increase! I am just addicted to info, reading about the experiences of others and occassionally offering an opinion. My family is amazed by the time I spend on the boards! What else could I actually learn? Oh well, it's a harmless addiction!:)

I too, am addicted! I only check the boards once a day (or so) and try to limit myself to planning no more than two Disney trips at a time (but must always have one in planning stages). Now that DH gave me a wireless network for Mother's Day, I can surf while watching the Disney channel! We go to the Disney store at least once a month and I just bought Disney stock (it's a bargain now, right?) Oh yeah, I've got it bad....

It's nice to know that there are at least 43 other DISers who are DIS ADDICTS like me:)
My dh thinks I'm crazy (and he thinks all's I do is surf the DIS because it's always up on the computer when he comes home from work!)
It definitely makes that Disney withdrawl easier to cope with now!
I'll never forget the few times this site went down last year, sometimes for 2-3 days at a time, I went crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But, I'll tell you, when friends ask about Disney, they know I'm a Disney information center!!! So, hey, knowledge is a great thing, right!:p

I already posted my addiction but I have been reading the thread and I have to say that if you have to hang around someplace I think it should be with people who have similar interests. This way you don't feel wierd ,you are with a group of your peers. The thing that is so wonderful about the www is that you have conneted with poeple who without this tool you would never have met and then you might go along forever thinking you are an odd ball. Well see all of you wonderful folks at the dis have validated me and and I thank you for it. We are all willing to help one and other with our planning and the generousity of spirit is a good thing. I think my family is grateful to you all too so that when I am obsessing over some thing I have all of you to turn to and they just reap the rewards of my effort. Thanks:)

I, too, am a Disney addict. I was so glad to find these boards because then it was obvious that I am not the only one. I get depressed leaving WDW each time and I am not happy unless I am planning a Disney trip.
Has anyone ever felt like just MAYBE the next trip won't be so fantastic and that the spell will be broken? Of course, the next trip is THE BEST VACATION EVER and it's time to start planning again! http://www.wdwinfo.com/sites/family/hapfac01.gif
We just decided we're driving up tomorrow! Probably stay at The Caribbean and have dinner at Flying Fish.

I had managed to weed myself off this site shortly after our last trip to WDW to 01/01. But now that we've decided to return next December, (yes, 12/03!), I'm already scouring every scrap of information I can collect. I really want to stay at a deluxe next year, which means I need to get the best deal I can. I work during the day, take care of my family the rest of the time, but then HERE I AM. At night, this has been my way to escape and take "hold" of our vacation (since obviously no one else is going to do it). A few days ago, I asked dh his "have to do list" in Dinsey. He replied "Gatorland." He always does that when he goes to Florida. Poor fella, he still doesn't have a clue that we are not going to Florida, we are going to Disney!!!!

For our first few trips I lived on these boards, checking them several times a day, even after I returned from our trip, but then it depressed me to continue reading about everyones excitement in planning their up and coming trips when my next one would be so far away---now I only check the boards within a month or two of our next trip! We'll be at the 'Pin-Event in September and then again ( I know we're nuts) during the Christmas and New Years Holiday.

I use mine more, and have saved so much and had more fun on our trips because of this site!!

We'll be saving over $4200.00 just on our room for our big trip in December, thanks to Mary Waring and the posters who posted about their luck with the code!!!
