View Full Version : Song "Amy" by Pure Prairie League
Remember this song from the 70s? Is there some website where I can find the lyrics and the year it came out? Someone here at work started singing it and now I can't get it out of my head! Thanks!

Amie
Originally performed by Pure Prairie League
A #27 Top 40 hit from 1975, it's the most popular song of the group's repertoire
Vocalist/Guitarist Craig Fuller went on to join the band Little Feat
I can see why you think you belong to me.
I never tried to make you think,
Or let you see one thing for your self.
But now your off with someone else and I'm alone.
You see I thought that I might keep you for my own.
Well I guess I was wrong.
Amie what you wanna do, I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do.
Don't you think the time is right for us to find
All the things we thought weren't proper could be right in time
And can't you see, which way we should turn together or alone
I can never see what's right or what is wrong
(Yeah you take to long to see)
Amie what you wanna do, I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do.
(Solo)
Now it's come to what you want you've had your way
And all the things you thought before just faded into gray
And can you see, That I don't know if its you or if its me
If its one of us I'm sure we'll both will see
So take a good long look and tell me...
Amie what you wanna do, I think I could stay with you,
For a while, maybe longer if I do. (Longer if I do) (Repeat)
I'd just keep...
Falling in and out of love with you
Falling in and out of love with you
Don't know what I'm gonna do, I keep
Falling in and out of love, with you.

If its one of us I'm sure we'll both will see, won't you look at me and tell me
Amy, what .... (2x)
I keep falling in and out of love with you
Falling in and out of love with you
Don't know what I'm gonna do
I keep falling in and out of love with you, ooh
I'm looking for the year. I'm guess 78 or 79.

Takes me back, we used to sit around the dorm room drinking Jack Daniels and Coke and listen to that song ad nauseum! It was definitely one of my favorites, though!

I surely do remember this song. I was actually in a band in high school, which is rather hilarious in itself considering I don't sing nor do I play any instrument nor do I have a lick of musical talent. I played the tamborine, LOL. We knew two songs by heart, one was Gold Dust Woman, and the other was Amy.
Brings back alot of memories. :)
