I haven't been to the world since 2006, but my daughter is treating me to a trip in October. I seem to recall that we could share meals at the ts restaurants. If we do share, then I assume only 1 credit will be deducted instead of 1 credit from each of us. Is sharing still OK and is my assessment of the credits used right? If we share meals, we will be able to try more restaurants. Thanks

Yes, it is one credit per meal ordered, not per person.
Depending on the restaurant, you MIGHT be told you cannot share meals on the dining plan. The recent reports we have are that Beaches & Cream apparently does not allow dining plan users to share entrees. We have sporadic reports about people being told in various other restaurants that they can't share on the dining plan - but not many. Other than Beaches & Cream, the Disney-owned restaurants seem to permit it. Can't say for sure about the others, because from the reports I've seen, it might actually depend on which server you get.
You won't be permitted to share at all at buffets, all you can eat family style restaurants like 'Ohana or Garden Grill, fixed price, fixed menu restaurants like CRT or Akershus, or dinner shows.
If you haven't been on the dining plan since 2006, not sure if you've seen that it's changed - appetizers are no longer included on the regular dining plan, and tips are no longer included on any plan.

thank you so much for replying. I did read that the dining plan had changed and that's OK with us. Glad to hear that we might be able to share a few meals as well.

If you are told you can't share, ask to speak with a manager.
Many people, including servers, misunderstand the concept that you can't share dining plan CREDITS, but you can share your personal meal with anyone you want. By sharing credits, it means that if there are 2 adults on the dining plan and you invite a third person to dinner, you cannot use a third credit for that person.

Many people, including servers, misunderstand the concept that you can't share dining plan CREDITS, but you can share your personal meal with anyone you want. However, if a restaurant's practice (posted anywhere or not) prohibits sharing meals, then talking with a manager isn't going to make a difference.
Also, while the OP knows this - "But so-and-so on the DIS Boards was allowed to do it!" isn't a valid argument :rotfl2:
