For those of you who may have just returned from sunny FL and drove a car, what was the average gas prices? We are leaving from NC Friday driving down and just wondering.

I want to say around $1.50/gallon. Ga is about 20-35 cents cheaper so be *sure* you fill up one last time around Valdosta. Same way on the way back. Hope you have a great trip.

We drive to WDW several times a year from NC, and *always* stop at Exit #29 in GA to fill up. Leaving from home with a full tank, we are usually close to empty when we get to exit 29. Last year, GA Exit #1 had the best gas prices(a few cents cheaper than #29), but this year they have been the same price. By the way, if you have never made the drive, it is not a bad drive, just beware of construction in/around Jacksonville. My latest AAA trip planner (from last month) still has that area highlighted as delays possible. We live 1.5 hours North of Charlotte, and it takes us between 9 and 10 hours to get to BWV with 2-3 potty stops. Of course, the drive home always seems to take much longer;)

Hi semi-neighbor!

We (wife and I) are in Greensboro and leave for Orlando in 6 days! Does anyone know what gas is going for in Orlando. We have a rental car and I would like to know.

Thanks in advance,

Ratpack, can you tell about how much total you needed for gas on the way down or back? I'm trying to figure out what money to set aside for gas.TIA April:Pinkbounc

twoksmom,

We filled up a total of 4 times for the trip at about $20 each. We have a Mazda MPV and get about 25mpg. Of course the fact that I averaged about 75MPH the whole way and sometimes got up to 85 decreased the MPG. I would say that you could get by with budgeting about $100 for gas in an average vehicle. Have a great trip and don't forget to post reports.

Hey Mic! I'm also about 1 1/2 hours north of Charlotte! I live in Dobson, work in Mount Airy. Are you nearby?

We also drive, and expect it to be about a 10-hour drive. We drive during the night hours so the kids sleep most of the way down. Just be sure you take a nap first!

We live in Lexington. My husband prefers driving at night while the kids sleep, but I am not much of a late evening driver. I have taken all 4 of our kids before alone, and I do better leaving early AM, and arriving after lunch. We are going down again in Oct., without DH, and I am not sure when I will leave NC. We are planning to spend 4-5 days in the parks, and DH will join us(he will fly out of GSO) for the 3-day cruise. I am SO ready for a break, and this is just the 2nd week of school!

Thanks Ratpack, we have a Ford Windstar so they probably get about the same gas mileage.I just needed to make sure I put enough back for the gas.I might spend it all if not careful. Thanks again, April :Pinkbounc

Just to up date you all on the construction in Jacksonville. Their still messing with the road work on 95. There is about 10 miles of starting before you cross the fuller warren bridge and contuing on for next 10 miles. It's a real mess so be sure no potty breaks are in that area cause you might get in trouble there. Also there was work being done right before you get into Daytona on 95 back in July so you may want to check on that also and adjust accordingly.

In South Ga $1.13-1.17 per gallon for reg unlead

Fla it varied from $1.37-$1.57 just depending on where we stopped.

All this talk of cheap gas - well, I for one can't wait to get to Florida and pay the "exhorbitant" rate of about $1.40 a gallon :p

Here in Scotland I'm paying about $5.20 a gallon

When we pick up our 8 seater / 3.5 litre rental car at Sanford Airport, tanking the thing up will be an absolute joy
