View Full Version : DDP Different Menus?

We recently spent the holidays at WDW using TIW at the sit down restaurants. After being seated at one of the restaurants we were given menus that seemed at little short on options. When the server asked if we were DDP and we told him that we were TIW he apologized for giving us the DDP menu by mistake and switched menus. The second, or cash, menu was somewhat larger and with more choices. Has anyone else noticed a difference in the menus or was it just this one particular sit down restaurant that does this? :confused3

Do you mind me asking what restaurant? We have never noticed getting "different" menus when using the DDP.

We were there (DW) in early Dec. and there was no different menu for DDP people. I asked and was told no.

I would wonder what place you ate at?

I'm interested to know what restaurant this was too. :confused3 In my experience, there are no separate menus.

Maybe you accidentally got the lunch menus?

My DW reminded me that it actually happened twice, last spring when we ate lunch at the Brown Derby and this past Christmas when we had lunch at Tony's Town Square. Those were the only two. The menus at the other sit downs we ate at had DDP icons next to the entrees/main courses indicating which items were DDP.

We didn't come across this at all, it would certainly stop most people paying for DXDP if this was the case.

Interesting. Perhaps Disney Dining is trying random procedures to facilitate the guest dining experience. Maybe a "Fast Pass" for dining?

Hm. I hope we can find out more about this. If it turns out that they're implementing separate menus on a large scale, I will certainly cancel our DxDDP for July.

*crossing my fingers that it's not true *

I've never noticed any menu at a TS restaurant having icons showing which items where on the DDP. On the DDP you can order anything on the menu (although Marrakesh does charge a surcharge for a couple of their Feasts). I was on the DxDDP this past Sept/Oct and ate lunch at Tony's. I ordered off the regular menu. When I specically asked if there was any limitations for the DDP, the waiter assured me I could have anything on the menu. We were also on the DxDDP in Dec and were never given a different menu.

It was an interesting situation that threw us for a loop at the time. The server passed out the menus to our group, asked if we were on any plan, then, after we told them TIW, apologized for giving us the DDP menus by mistake. Perhaps these were just trial balloons or . . . ? DDP continues to evolve. It's definitely not the same DDP it was a few years back. :confused3

I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this sort of thing. I haven't heard of it anywhere besides this thread. :confused3

This came up in one of the many discussion threads when the free dining started in August last year. It seemed a lot of it was specualtion and as far as I am aware, a new "policy" was never confirmed. Strangely, the only place I recall people specifically pointing out was Tonys. However, Tony's menu is fairly limited in any event so I don't know. I am sure if this was happening on a regular basis we would be hearing a whole lot more about it!

If the seater had asked us which dining plan/discounts we had before he passed out the menus we would have never been the wiser.
