I'd like to get some advice. My husband and I are planning to move to Florida within the next two years. I'm finishing my masters this summer and he'll finish his degree in 18 months. We'll work for a year or two here before moving to save up a down payment for a house.

We have a 2 1/2 year old so the public school system is important to us. Also, I'll be looking for a job in an elementary public school. We have family in St. Cloud and we love Disney so I'd like to move near Orlando but not in it.

I've been doing some research on cities around Orlando with good schools, low crime rates, decent shopping (meaning I don't have to drive too far for a walmart, target, publix, or normal mall stores), and a family atmosphere. I don't mind a small town feel because we can go to Orlando for things to do. I'd rather it be that way since I am use to the country/small city because I currently live in central GA.

All of my research is pointing towards Oviedo. We'll be looking for a house around 150-175,000 with 2 to 3 bedrooms. Is it a good place to live? Is there another city I should be looking at that offers houses in that range that are in good neighborhoods, has good schools, etc?

Thanks for any help you can give.

I am not familiar with the Oviedo area so can't help you there. I wish you well with your move to FL. You will love it here.

Oviedo is about 10 minutes north of me. north of UCF. nice shopping, Nice churches, That is seminole county I think. You would be about an hour from Disney straight down 417. Lots of traffic, but that is everywhere. And that's all I have to say about that. hope it helped alittle.

I owned a home in Oviedo from 2000-2005 during the time my son was a student at UCF. My daughter and her family moved to Oviedo in 2006 and still reside there.

Oviedo is in Seminole County. In 2000, Oviedo was much smaller and less congested. The growth of UCF, now the largest university in Florida, has caused the surrounding areas to grow with it.

My daughter has found the schools to be excellent.

It's hard to say what housing prices will be when you are ready to relocate. At the moment you would be able to buy a nice home at the price you indicated.
