Just wanted to share how much we appreciated the Community Hall at BWV & BLT during our Christmas trip.

I never thought we'd use this service much, but we spent 5 of 7 nights at the CH. After all day at the crowded parks we were too beat to do much of anything. Being able to just hang-out while the kids colored & played Wii, fuseball, tinker toys - was just great. We'd take a free dvd back to the room & have dinner.

I highly recommend this to pooped parents. And I thought I was in better shape since I started jogging after our May trip so I could tour w/less exhaustion. I guess turning 40 has taken it's toll.

I agree! We always take at least one night to "rent" DVD's. The kids love the activities there. They had fun on our last trip painting ceramics. It was great to relax at the pool while the kids were busy inside Community Hall.

We also love CH, but didn't like BLT's as much as SSR. I totally agree that it is a great perk that many people may not be aware of!

we  CH, too
dh doesn't like the sun as much as i do, so will oft go play some games while i lay by the BWV quiet pool. CH is the icing on our DVC cake.....it makes our days there just a bit sweeter, and sooooo perfect :)

My boys loved both Community Hall and the arcade when we were at Kidani last summer. Definitely, one of the best kept secrets at Disney!

We never seem to have time for community hall. One of these times we're going to spend some time there!

Absolutely....Love the Botchy ball courts at BLT. My kids do tons of crafts.

Don't let disney know or they will "enhance" the community halls because only some DVC members use it.

Since the community halls are paid for with dues, I'd be surprised if they received that particular "enhancement", but you never know! We were able to participate in some of the pool games during our last trip. That was a lot of fun.

We loved the Community Hall at Kidani also. There was so much to do. We really liked being able to check out games and take them back to our room. I think that if they had the choice my kids would have rather stayed at the hotel and gone to the hall and pool instead of going to the parks!

I was thinking CH at BLT might have more people interested if the hallway wall was glass, so you could see all the fun inside. I thought it was curiously "hidden" in a way. I did not even stumble upon it until late in our stay.

We also always love the community hall activities. This trip we also "rented" a board game.

I think my 12 year old son would be more than happy to just stay at our home at BWV and not visit the parks. He loves the community hall!!! It works out nice for me too because I can lay at the quiet pool and enjoy myself while he is busy making crafty things and playing video games. Also, I love the fact that instead of spending gobs of money at the arcade, we can visit the Community hall for free!!! :goodvibes

He enjoys getting the noodles to use in the quiet pool. He's not a big fan of slides so he doesn't really care about the clown pool. And yes, we love the DVDs there too!!!

Which community hall is best, in your opinion. We enjoyed OKW, and was wondering about the others...

I agree. The location of Community Hall @ BWV is the best due to it basically being on the pool deck. I can swim with my kids who want to be in the pool and my other one can go to the Community Hall with no issues of supervision. CM's are very nice too. They have helped her to come out to pool and get me.

Yeah, the CH at OKW is the best thus far. But, the ALCS was on while we were in the CH, so that may have influenced it. I think the CH at SSR is pretty cool as well. It was more of the video games there, but I am partial to air hockey and foosball.

So does every DVC resort except VWL and BCV have a CH?

They LOVED CH at Kidani. It was the perfect retreat on a rainy afternoon. It's the ultimate plaground for all ages. Even my 2yo loved the wooden puzzles and coloring. I agree with the posts above--my kids would have stayed there all day and never mentioned the parks if I let them!

There is no CH at VWL/BCV? Are you still able to "check out" videos at these resorts?

At VWL you can check out the DVDs at the back registers in the Mercantile (they have a huge book to choose from too)

Just want to mention at AKV-Kidani the book is also at the store, not the CH. The selections are limited right now as the resort is still fairly new. We're bringing our own DVDs from home until it builds up.

I agree that the community halls are a wonderful addition to the DVCs. My 2 (older) kids discovered the one at Kidani back in July and can't wait to return. At Kidani they have pool, PS2s, large screen TV hooked up to a Wii, Tons of board games, markers, a button maker ($1 per button) and Foosball.... oh and animal viewing right from the room. DS likes to challenge others to a game of pool (he's not very good yet) while DD creates "Disney" buttons for all her friends.

I like that it's almost right across from the laundry room so the kids hang out with me while it's being done. The 12yo likes that it's across from the actual arcade & when the fire alarm tests are being performed they're not as loud in the CH as they are in the room or halls.

For reference, can we make a full blown list of what is available at the other CHs - including HHI and VB?

We are partial to OKW but visit the others. I can't really say which is the best. I think they all maintain the theme of the resort which makes each one have its own flavor. I couldn't see CH of BWV at OKW and vice verse. They all work great for their specific home resort.

What are the rules and regulation at BWV of bringing your children there? What is the age limit to let them go in by themselves (if you are in the pool)?

So - do they not have them at VWL & BCV because they are relatively small DVC resorts? I guess I really never thought about too much when they had them at OKW & BWV, but not VWL & BCV - but now they have them at SS, AKL & BLT - it makes me curious?????

Several people have asked questions about the absence of Community Halls at BCV and VWL, yet no one has answered.

I am also looking for info on this - are these the only 2 DVC resorts without Community Halls? If so, why? Do these 2 resorts still have movies or games to rent?

Any info would be greatly appreciated, Tiger

Can anyone tell me what is available at BLT CH?

On the December Activities sheet from the BLT CH, it states that they are open from 9am-10pm, and have complimentary foosball, playstation 2 and Wii. Also, with DVC card, you can "rent" DVDs, board games, and barbeque utensils. Tennis racquets, tennis balls, shuffleboard and bocce ball equiptment are also available there.

There are some photos of this CH on another site, but I'm not sure of the rules about linking other sites.:confused3

You can PM me if you want me to scan and email a copy of the activities they offered that week, or if you want that other address.

We stayed at the Treehouse Villas in SSR recently and my two boys 18 and 21 would go to the arcade and play air hockey then stop at CH to borrow movies to take back to the room. They're night owls and would stay up watching a movie every night. The boys liked hanging out at the resort more than going to the parks. The women working in CH were so nice. The one woman saw our Happy Anniversary buttons and disappeared into a back room. While the other woman was getting our movie the first one yelled out, "don't let them leave yet!". She then came out with three helium balloons and a certificate that said Happy Anniversary. I thought that was so sweet :)

The date on the pics is wrong and I don't know how to change it :confused3
