How does a server know your what plan your on?
From what I have read the Dxdp allows a appetizer and the regular DDP does not. Is there something on your card that tells them what plan your on?
thanks!

There is a code on your Key To The World card that would let them know! They are very wonderful at explaining what is covered and what is not for all the different plans!:thumbsup2

If you are on the regular DDP, you can order appetizers, they are just not prepaid. When the bill comes and they swipe your KTTW, you will pay OOP for the appetizers just like for specialty drinks.

The servers as mentioned are very helpful, you don't all even have to use the DDP at the same table, those on the DDP will get one check and those at the table paying OOP will get a separate check. We always have our inlaws visit use for severl meals per trip (they are lucky and live close to DW) so they sit with us and pay OOP and get a sepetate check. Just tell the server when they first come to the table, never had any problem at any restaurant.

Will they let you pay for your in-laws if they're at the same table? My MIL is coming for just one day, and we're trying to figure out if we can pay for her from our DP. I know the system will allow them to charge more meals than the number of registered people because last March, a server made a mistake and charged both our meals and the couple traveling with us to our card, so we had to have another server at the next matching level restaurant fix it, since we didn't notice until we left.

Because they don't take the key card until you are ready to pay, the servers will ask you when they come to the table whether or not you are on a dining plan. This is so they can ring the check up properly and also so they can explain to you what is included and what isn't.

Disney's rule is that you may not use your dining credits to pay for meals for persons who are not on your room reservation and not registered with your dining plan. They are not supposed to let you order more meals than you have persons listed on your key card. If you have 2 adults and 2 children you should not be able to order more than 2 adult and 2 child meals and pay for them with the dining plan.

I wasn't sure if it was a YMMV situation or a hard no. I'll plan on the hard no. I'm still not sure how that server at Brown Derby made that big of a mistake.

Mistakes are made all the time, if you read these boards - it 's usually suggested that you check your receipts closely while you're still at the restaurant.

You can pay OOP for the in-laws but you are not suppose to use a TS for someone not in your party like NALA mentions.
