Hello all, Glad to see my shipmates here, we are the Malaball Clan- Alex Malaguti (me) Sherrie Malaguti (wife) Joshua Malaguti (DS 15) Brittany Malaguti (DD 16) and Kelsea Ball (DD 16) This is our FIRST CRUISE :goodvibes and we are very excited, we booked today through DU and will be in joining cabins on the sixth deck, Starboard Quarter. We look forward to meeting my fellow dis'ers at some point and really look forward to planning our journey. We are new DVC members and are going to AKL after the cruise as well. Here is hoping for a quite hurricane season, especially the week of the 23rd:rotfl2:

Hi everyone!! DD's school just notified us that they have changed the 2010-2011 school calendar to add a week's vacation in September. So, we've done what any good Disney lover would do and booked a cruise. We'll be doing the back-to-back with this cruise and the one on the 19th (it looks like there are several of us going that route - LOLOLOL). I'm looking forward to meeting everyone! :goodvibes

Welcome Malaguti Ball Clan and Crystal_27!!!
Malaguti....You are so going to love DCL! All I can say is be prepared to eat, have fun, eat some more and have more fun!!!!
Crystal....don't you love when the school system cooperates. :goodvibes One of my girls (DD9) will be out of school for three weeks however...DD14 will start HS this fall and we don't want her to miss to much school Right now she's going but it depends on what HS she gets into. I have a back up plan though (staying with some friends of ours) if she can't go. Either way...I'll be on that boat!!!
Here's to happy planning!

Yes, I was beyond thrilled when the school system voted on the calendar with a week's break in September. The calendar will be effective for at least 2 years so we will probably re-book onboard for September, 2011. It sounds like you guys are going to have an amazing trip too - - 3 weeks at Disney (as opposed to being in school/work) sounds wonderful! I'm sure your girls think so too.

For sure!! Since we are doing the back-to-back, we'll actually get 2 stops at Castaway Cay. I think, though, that we are only going to do the jetskis on one of those days. Maybe if it works out, we can coordinate our times so we are on the same excursion?? It seems like DISers always make things more fun.

Yes they Do!! Sounds great, would love to have a pro show us the ropes on CC. Back to Back is a very interesting concept, we will have to give it a try sometime:worship: We are going to AKV after our cruise for six days, my DW says lets just cruise instead:thumbsup2 but this will my first time in a GV so perhaps we can B2B next year:banana:

We are new DVC members (bought BLT in March, 2009) and I can't wait to try AKV - it looks like such an amazing resort!! I'm sure that the GV is going to be amazing!! We were going to try and do one of the 5 nighters in the summer, but the cost was ridiculous, and we actually ended up waaayyy cheaper doing the back-to-back opposed to the 5 nighter *and* we still get 2 stops at Castaway Cay, plus we get 2 Palos, 2 Pirate Parties, 2 Sailaway Parties, etc., etc., etc. We are now debating on whether or not to try and book BCV the night before our cruise or just stay at the Port. I think if we stay at a certain hotel at the Port that we would get free parking for the week of our cruise, so that is certainly a point in favor of the hotel at the Port. Still, I think that my DD would love Stormalong Bay and since we have to trade in our "Give a Day" vouchers for annual passes, my thought is that we might as well stay at the parks - LOL. I guess when I call at the 7 month mark to see if I can get BCV that will make my decision for me.

I know it's early in the discussion and not to many participants at the moment however I wanted to know if anyone was interested in doing a FE Gift Exchange. :)
If so, I can start a list and as people join they can be added.

We had a great time doing the FEs on our September, 2009 cruise but we had a huge DIS group (like 40 cabins). Do you think we'll have enough DIS participation on this cruise to make a FE exchange work? Maybe we can do a DIS meet or breakfast or something else if there isn't enough for a FE? :flower3:

We would  to be in a FE GE....Hopefully we will have enough DISrs (never done one as this is our first cruise) and as Crystal suggested there is always something for a group of DISrs to do together.:grouphug:

We have done the FE exchange on both of our previous cruises and enjoyed both:). On the first one last September we had only a small group (12), Last June was a larger group and participation was not as good, but still fun:thumbsup2. I have to really watch myself as I tend to go overbord with this:rolleyes1:rolleyes1. It makes packing more difficult, but leaves plenty of room for all the things I want to bring home:cool1:.
Last June we took my 2DGD's on a 7day Eastern, But because of school they will not be able to go on this cruise:sad2:. It will just be myself (Magie) dauthter Michelle (Ibmickey) and her roomate (Chris). This will be the first Cruise for Chris and I am really hoping that she will like it as much as we do. I wanted to do the eastbound TA for this cruise, however I am the only one with the ability to take that much time off right now (I am simiretired:cool1:). I was not looking forward to the filght anyway:worried:, so this is a better choice for us. We will be doing the b2b, Sept 19 & 23. At the present we will be in cabin 7505 on both legs (we don't have to pack up after the first half). Ofcourse I am always hoping for an upgradepixiedust:
We stayed at the Radisson at Port Canaveral before both cruises. It is my understanding that they will let you park your car in their lot for the time of the cruise without a charge. They have free shuttles to the port. We took it for the last cruise in June and arrived at the port around 10am and had very little wait time in line to check in. Be sure to print out your cruise documents and bring them with you, it will save you a lot of time at check in:dance3:.
When we did the cruise last Sept several Disers stayed there and we were able to have dinner together the night before the cruise. We had a very lively group and are still in contact with some of them:disrocks:.
To finely get to the point we would love to join the FE group. It is still very eairly and I am sure that the group will grow:cheer2:.

We can always do both..a DIS meet and the FE if we have enough participants. ;o) We won't get in until that morning so it would have to be something on the boat. I am traveling with work so I'll have to wait to see what they have me committed too before committing to the DIS meet though. As we get closer we'll get a schedule.

Thank you for the information about the Radisson. :goodvibes We are planning on staying there the night before the cruise and I'm glad to read that the shuttle process is fairly easy. What time did the shuttle pick you up when you were done with your cruise?

YAY! Received prelim information this week. Showing when I can book excursions and what not. Now it seems like it's not so far away. :goodvibes Can't wait. The crew is excited too. We are going to Disney in 12 days but everytime I try to talk about packing something or what we are going to do they say 'on the cruise?' Guess they are more in cruise mode than Disney mode. :rotfl:

This will be our 2nd Disney cruise. It will be my DH, DD Aubrey 7, and DS Luke 2. A little worried about the age of my son, but hey, this one was free and we had limited date options and I didn't want to leave him behind.
Anyway, the reason I came to the board was looking for the FE program. I didn't know about it on my 1st cruise. My best friends family did this last year on her cruise and told me about it and this board to come look for it on. We'd love to participate. Have you started a list?

:wave2: Hi Stephanie! :welcome: I haven't started an official list but planning to do that around June once my kids cheer lives die down a little. :goodvibes I will gladly include you. At that time I'll post detailed information to keep everyone in the loop.
As for your son, he'll have a blast still. My youngest (will be 3 on this cruise) was 1 yr 4 mo. on her first cruise and 2 yr 3 mo. on her 2nd. She LOVED the water area and Flounders Reef. She wanted to go in and would say bye like it was her area and we didn't need to be there. ;o) We even took her during dinner a few times cause she really didn't want to sit with us.

We just booked this cruise :banana:
It will be just DH and I. :lovestruc We will be on the Dream with our 4 kids, my parents and two other families April 2011. All the excitement of booking that trip made me wish we were going sooner. DH and I try to get a weekend away every fall so I thought, why not a cruise? An added benefit is we'll get the "lay of the land" for our April cruise and not feel like such newbies!

Just wanted to check in and say HI to everyone! We are getting very excited about the cruise! After much debate, we decided to go ahead and stay at Disney World the day before the cruise (we are doing the back-to-back so, for us, that is the night of the 18th). We had actually looked at staying at the Radisson or the Comfort Suites at the Port but, after we looked at the cost, we realized we could stay on DVC points at the Beach Club and just pay parking at the Port and still come out about the same as the cost for a night stay at those hotels near the Port. This will be our first time staying at the Beach Club, and DD is very excited about Stormalong Bay. We are planning on spending that night at Epcot and *finally* seeing Illuminations, although I note that MNSSHP is showing on the 18th so we're going to have a tough decision to make. Last year we also cruised in September and did MNSSHP before the cruise so that's kind of become a tradition of sorts for us. Ahhhhh, decisions, decisions. :goodvibes

Congratulations on your Pre-cruise stay at BCV, Illuminations is awesome good luck with that decision:goodvibes I had us booked into VWL for a few days before the cruise but DW put the kabash on it saying two weeks would be too much for our "A" student senior daughters :teacher:I had to agree, although reluctantly as I had CRT and SOA ressies made for that time period...sniffle, but I was able to get the friday after our cruise at CRT as we are doing MNSSHP that day..:thumbsup2 Still have to rebook SOA, just not sure which day yet:headache: I was able to add a friday to our AKV GV so thats cool. Now I am out of 2011 points!!! Looking for an add on, perhaps on the cruise:thumbsup2

It sounds like you guys are still going to get some good park time in even though it wasn't what you were hoping for. LOL about being out of points -- I know the feeling (although we used our points for a 2011 cruise on the Dream so we'll still get a good vacation out of it in 2011).

Yeah, we definitely can't wait to experience BCV. Honestly, if I hadn't been so blinded by being on the monorail, we likely would have bought into BCV. Not that I don't love BLT, but...you know how that goes.
I was thinking about the FE thing yesterday and I thought I might suggest something that might be perfect for our small group. What if we did a Secret Mickey (kinda like a Secret Santa) instead of a FE? The deal would be that each family would receive another family and just give daily suprises to their Secret Mickey. I did a Secret Mickey (along with a FE) on my last cruise and it was great fun. I think we set the limit at about $40, but that was for a 7 night cruise, so we definitely could go with a lower limit. What do you guys think? :goodvibes

It really was a fun experience and it seemed like all of us that were participating in the Secret Mickey were always running into each other on the ship and just hanging out. We also did a DIS PJ breakfast one morning in one of the dining rooms which was also a ton of fun! :goodvibes

I had an AMAZING time...it truely was wonderful. Before this cruise I had only been on a 3 night and thought it was WAY too short so I went for the extreme on my next one and did 11 nights! Let me tell you it wasnt even long enough haha. I figured I could sneak another short cruise in this year that is why I booked this one. I am also booked on a 7 night med next year as well as a 4 night on the Dream! I cant wait!!!

Welcome aboard, Lisa and Josh, man what a great cruise you must have had!! we will also have a "Josh" our DS 15 with us...
Anyone concerned with this years hurricane predictions?? I am not worried about a hurricane while on the trip, just worried about cancellations before we board...eeeeek no insurance. -Alex

The Med cruise was great, I really recommend that people take it, if they are able to!!
You still have time to buy insurance, I never buy DCL insurance I always buy from a different company that is cheaper and has better coverage...let me know if you want the info.

I can not wait for the Dream!!! The summer sailings were a little too much for me...although I would have really preferred a 5 night as opposed to a 4 night. Oh well, looks like I will just have to book another cruise on the Dream! :rotfl:

Oh, I'm definitely super super excited!! BUT, DH and DD are going to South Dakota in a couple of weeks so I feel like I have to get that "vacation" out of the way before I can really concentrate on the cruise. Also, my ADR window for my Christmas vacation is coming up in a couple of days so I've also been super focused on that too. Wish me luck!! I hope everyone has a great day! :goodvibes

Hope DH and your super cutie DD have a GREAT time in SD, not to many theme parks there LOL, but lots O' nature. Good luck with your ADR'spixiedust: I lucked out and got everything we wanted for Sept including CRT and 1900PF. I was worried because it is "free dining" for the rack raters. The only first choice date and time I didn't get was CRT, but I was able to get my second choice date and a 6pm so we are happy. My DD's are super stoked that we were able to get CRT:banana:

Well, good and bad. The good is that Disney is testing a new ADR system so we are currently in the "Beta" phase which means that I can actually book my ADRs at 190 days. For the planner in me, that's awesome. The bad is that, because its still in the testing phase, I have to book each ADR day-by-day and not the 180+10. Having the 190 actually puts me ahead of the 180+10 so no complaints, but I always worry when I have to remember to do something every single day. I've booked my ADRs through the 21st now, so I only have 10 more days to go.
And, yes, it is so hard to believe that our cruise is getting so close - - we'll be making our cruise plans this week too - YIPEE!!! What is everyone planning on doing? We are thinking Atlantis for either this leg or the 19th leg, doing Palo for both cruises, doing the jetskis at Castaway Cay, and doing the family fun rentals (inner tubes, bikes, snorkles) for the other day at CC. I'm getting soooooo excited -- my last vacation was a cruise last September so I really need a getaway. :woohoo:

Castaway Cay- My sisters and friends will do parasailing.

So what types of excursions is everyone booking?
We are doing the back-to-back with the cruise on the 19th, so I think that I'm going to fill that cruise with most of the excursions, and let this cruise be our relaxation cruise. We'll definitely book another Palo for dinner on this cruise, and are thinking about the family fun package at Castaway Cay (I booked the jetskis for DH and I at Castaway Cay on the 19th cruise; unfortunately DD is still excluded from that due to her age). Other than that, we are just going to take it easy. :thumbsup2

One piece of advice if I may...if you rebook on the cruise in Sept. to get the discount make sure you have your DU rep's name so you don't run into issues later on down the road. :) Happened to me....I didn't have DU rep's last name and was told I could fix it when I got home. BOY was that ever wrong. Took about 2 weeks and several phone calls and emails to get it straight.

We are Soooooo undecided on what if any excursions to book in Nassau..:scared1:
DW wants the whole family to parasail at CC....
Might just stay on the ship in Nassau or go for a walk to the marketplace....I would need two rooms at Comfort Suites (600 bucks) to use the amenities at Atlantis and given the fact that we are heading over to "The World" for a week after the cruise I don't think that is worth it. Ughhhhh sometimes it is really hard to be the "planner"

Yeah, we are still debating Atlantis too. It is soooooo expensive but I just think that DD would have a great time (and I know that DH and I would too). We will probably decide about a week or two before the cruise (when we always make our best decisions - LOLOLOL). :rotfl:

Hi guys,
FINALLY figured out what we are doing :thumbsup2 and booked everything this morning.
In Nassau we were tempted to just chill, but that is soooooo not us, so all 5 of us (DS22 and fiancee are not cruising, but are joining us at the parks) are doing the Blue Lagoon dolphin swim in the morning.
This should be fun, one of DD's wants to be be a biologist and the other wants to be a doctor so DD Eeyore can study the dolphins and our interactions with them and DD Tink can patch us up when they get ticked off at DD Eeyore's poking and prodding and head butt us.
For CC we are all doing the extreme getaway package with the stingray encounter first thing in the morning so we take advantage of the "Hopefully Clear Water". After lunch we are all going to try para-sailing :scared1: this is on my DW's MUST DO list:confused3 not sure where that came from as she is not overly adventurous but it will be fun to everyone going Up Up Up..

36 more days!
Planning on Palo on Day 2, but I am worried I will miss either Animator's Palate or Toy Story, both of which I want to see.....
.....Fast Forward 20 minutes.....
Since I started writing this post, I have changed Palo to Day 3, 6:00 PM. I chose an early seating so we can watch the sunset after the ship pulls away from Castaway Cay.(sunset is 7:02 PM on Sept 25) Since Day 3 is already "dressy day", it seems like a better idea.
I plan on participating in Pirate Night and didn't want to have to change from formal dress after Palo to Pirate Costume on Day 2.
In the event that our dining rotation is "PTA", I will just request to have it changed to another rotation. Since we have late dining, I hope it won't be a problem. Is the consensus Pirate Cay is the restaurant to miss?
I need a little support that this actually makes sense to someone other than me, and that I won't be the only Pirate at the party on day 2.pirate: With only 3 days, I want every minute to count, but not be rushed!

Wish I was done! off to a good start but not done with FE and still have to figure out what to do for Secret Mickey. I thought time would slow down as we got closer but it seems to be speeding up:cool1: We received our cruise documents last week so that was cool, I chopped up both books and put the important stuff into my "passporter binder"
This weekend it's up into the attic to get our disney stuff down, we have lots of support gear that we use for the parks portion of our trip,
hydro-pack backpacks, misting fans things like that.
Don't need too much for the cruise I guess, I think I just need to press my Disney Hawaiian shirts:lmao:
Actually I have to gather our birth certificates since we don't have passports, so I think I will go do that now........ see you kids soon:cloud9:

Yes, you may start packing. :rotfl: I know as a group we decided to do Secret Mickey's (like secret santa) however my sister and I ALWAYS shop for FE gifts just for ppl that have them on the boat. Of course we have included this group. This is NOT expected of anyone else on this board however should you be crazy like us I will post a list of those on this board with their cabin numbers by the 10th. Should you not want your cabin listed, please let me know.

Checking in! I just about panicked while watching the movie Titanic that has been airing all this week.
This next week I plan on finishing up our Secret Mickey gifts and I am planning some surprises with decorating our cabin door for my suite mates. 3 out of 4 of us are first time cruisers so I am trying to make it more special for them.
We actually didn't pre-plan any excursions and have chosen to relax and take in the sights/sounds this time.
I realized I have got to go shopping for some appropriate clothing since I am a full time student and sahm I have been living in yoga pants and casual t's for the past year.

The only stress I am feeling right now, is that the Stateroom that I plan booking while on-board will sell before I am able to book it. I hope it will not sell in the next 16 days, but it is a gamble I have to take to save half the deposit.

Hello,
We (me, my mom, my 4 year old daughter and my aunt) will be coming aboard. The FL residents rate made it took good a deal to pass up, since we're going to be at the World for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party anyway. We also added a couple of days at Disney's Vero Beach Resort, which I've never visited. Should be fun! This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. We did a 3 night last September and then the 10 night Med cruise this past May. I think we're thoroughly addicted now.

Awwwww, at least you are able to laugh about it now. We also are dealing with our usual DH work drama that always seems to happen before vacation. He owns his own business, and it just never fails that some deadline that he has to meet gets moved up right before we leave for vacation. I feel everyone’s pre-vaca drama though. So my last two weeks has been full of:
- 1 car broken into, radio stolen and now they can't replace the dashboard
- 2 Raccoons in my attic for yet the 3rd time (lots and lots of mulah to have them removed)
- 3 Dog sat for a friend who's puppy had fleas (just a good thing she was contained to my 4 dogs private room!)
So needless to say DH has been on the phone with insurance and critter control daily and I've been fumigating like mad! I HATE bugs!!!!!

Promenade at 3pm, looking forward to meeting up.
I have to finish my secret mickey, I cant quite get the dishwashers drain hose to hold the shape of mouse ears. perhaps more glue I made from the burnt seals will do it. someones in for a real treat,
two weeks to the this very minute we will somewhere off a the coast (Port St lucy, Jupiter inlet?) making way through the night sea (which will hopefully be calm, I do not...repeat DO NOT like my personal calculations on what will be Hurricane "IGOR" I show him passing very close on the 22nd, but past us and ashore in florida on the 23rd, if that holds true we will have "cloudy" water. I like the surrealism of hurricane churned waters in the Bahamas they really are something to see, but they we mess up our snorkeling real bad. But maybe it will uncover some lost booty at castaway cay.
Need to order more pirate costumes (worried about them, bordering on the short side, but will make the girls wear scull leggings so they are more appropriate. All I could afford for myself was a eye patch and boots, so I will have to find a pirate buckskin to offset it..:scared1:

WOW...a Pet Raccoon...yeah so not happening. When we got this house we caught 7, then about a year later 3. This go round they got 2 and 1 got away. Guess it doesn't help we have nothing but trees on one side of our house and all behind our house. We really don't have a backyard. I'd let them stay in the attic as we don't use it if they 1- went to sleep at night vs the day and 2- paid a bill :lmao: We have a full basement too (half man cave) so we store everything down there.

So glad you are still going to come. My DD(6) will love meeting your little girl. There will be plenty of "non-traditional" family units to visit with. Goodness knows mine is "non-traditional" !!
We look forward to seeing you on the 23 rd. Hopefully your daughter can show mine the ropes! This will be Brenna's first cruise.

We're a busy packing and getting so excited. I'm always so happy when I pull out my clear over-the-door shoe organizer, lol. That means I'm cruisin'!
We're going to the World for a few days and then Vero Beach. Should be fun. I'm definitely looking forward to some relaxation at Vero and on the ship. We don't plan to get off at Nassau. Been there, done that. We loved the dolphin encounter we did last time, but this time, we're just hanging out. I'm also really excited about room service. I just love the whole idea of being woken up with coffee. Yum! Safe travels everyone!

See, now I'm really starting to get excited about the prospect of going. Eight hour drive should be easy, peasy, lemon squeasy (to quote my DD). :woohoo:

wow...thats crazy...yeah see 8 hours seems like nothing to those routes. We are straight down...we get on and then by the next am we are waking up and getting off...hats just crazy that they take you all the way north to come back down:confused3...and u think with ATL it be like a few hours on the train and from TX a straight shot across...shows how much I know...lol well at least in 10 days we will all be on that lovely ship relaxing and making new friends...cant wait...I have lots of goodies for you guys!:rotfl:

OK yeah those are very crazy routes. We get on in Raleigh and go straight down to Orlando. If only ATL was a little closer to Savannah. My aunt is getting on there and then it's only 6 hrs by train. Not sure about Dallas...:rotfl: Can't help you there.

Is anyone bringing a laptop with them? I would love the ability to transfer photos/video from memory card to flashdrive (via usb), but do not want to bring an entire laptop just to be able to do that. At $15/cd, shutters is a bit expensive.
Do any of the DCL computers have usb ports that would allow this? (I doubt this one.)

Both of my DD's tried to Sqeeeeeeeze into a princess dresses last June in the dressing room at W.O.D. they made it and managed to come out for a photo, but would kill me if I posted it (they were 15) My only hope to recapture that princess magic is going to be granddaughters. But I must say for a now 17 yo, my DD Tink still keeps up the image:tinker: 30% for her, 70% for me, bless her heart.
Boy I don't know about you guys, but I AM READY! albeit mentally not quite yet physically, Gina hasn't shown up yet to help us pack! My Poor DW is cranking out the OT trying to reduce her case load and train a coworker to handle some of her cases while we're gone. She has been doing 12 hour days (plus our standard 2-3 hour round-trip commute) and has to go in on Sunday!
Normally I drive and she naps, but because of her OT we have had to to take two cars most days so she is really beat. The part that stinks is she doesn't have to do the OT for the money, but won't be at peace if she leaves too much work at work..(if I made sense with that)
Me...Give me 40 or give me death...:rotfl2: after 26 years of active duty my days of giving anything more than 8 are done unless my desk is on fire! to many 24 days in my past to care that much about work anymore. I really like my job, but now that I am a civilian I can do my job, go home and try not to care!
Well didn't this post go crazy...must be the delirium, I had to get up at 4 this morning...blech to try to beat traffic in my non-HOV compliant SUV (DW takes the Prius which is HOV compliant)
Does anyone else need a Bahama Momma about now?

Home and safe and sound with so many great memories. Timika thank you so much for planning the FE/Secret Mickey exchange. Being my first cruise I was so overwhelmed I had no chance of meeting up with you all (except Timika and I were able to chat/meet) I delivered my Secret Mickey gift a few minutes after the luggage was set outside the cabins. I apologize to my group for that!
Having little gifts delivered throughout the cruise was so fun and the cars watch was put to good use! I usually just use my phone but forgot I would be powering it off.
I will post pictures in a few of my gifts-the reusable bags and picture frames were awesome :thumbsup2

I really enjoyed the Secret Mickey exchange. I was a bit overwhelmed as well, but was able to deliver several gifts each day to SMFFMS.
Shannon, I do regret that I was not able to do the reveal on board. The plan was to knock on your door shortly the going away character meet, but having to get my luggage together put me past 11:00 PM, and I didn't want to disturb anyone sleeping in your stateroom.
I hope y'all (;) yes, we are from Texas) liked all the gifts. I really hope that you actually received all the gifts. I did have some concern that some of the items would walk away from your door without your knowledge or consent.
Safe travels to all of you not yet at home. Please check in and advise us that you are safe.
