We're thinking of trying out the add on wine option....the last time we went, we paid OOP for our bottles of wine each night. I'd guesstimate that we spent anywhere from $35-50 on a "regular" bottle. We splurged for the Silver Oak at Cali Grille for our anniversary. We both have a history in fine dining, like good wine, but don't consider ourselves wine-snobs. I drink Yellow tail Char as my go-to-keep-at-home wine on a weekly basis. We enjoy both reds and whites.

Is the wine add on worth it in your opinion?

On the wine brochure, I did not see Saana and Kouzzina listed as participants.....is this true, or are they just too "new" to be included in the WDW online brochure? ETA: found this answer, they are included!

Is there ANY way to see what wines are included (by restaurant) so that we can get an idea of it's value....the only wine list I remember is from Coral Reef (not all of it, mind you). They used to have Caymus Conundrum (which we can get "out" at dinner for around $50-$55 bottle) and that was a 2 entitlement wine (or, possibly not available under the wine plan, can't remember exactly)....we weren't on the wine plan that trip, but IMO, that's not worth 2 entitlements, no matter how much I like it!! We happily paid OOP for it, being on vacation and all, but that's not too out of the ordinary, as we'd pay for it having dinner out at home too...

Just looking for some input from the been there, done that crowd....

1) Let's put it this way, it is worth it to Disney.
2) From here, you can draw your own opinion.

We thought about it and decided that it is worth it *if* you want to have one whole bottle of wine (no more, no less) at every TS you go to (including breakfasts), and you both want the same wine and can agree on one that goes with both your entrees. And you're not worried about each having two drinks [we think Disney's wine "glasses" are each 1/6 of a bottle, but we usually get 4 glasses out of a bottle otherwise] after having been in 90+ degree heat all day and then going back into it.

In other words, we decided against it. I think we each ended up having wine about four times in 10 days, so we did probably spend $100-120 total, but that's less than the package.

These are the exact same reasons why we don't do the Disney Dining Plan. I don't like that someone else determines that I am allowed exactly one entree and one dessert per person per TS. Sure if you add up what person orders it is a "win" but we just aren't that orderly in our eating. Basing on the $$ outlay of the DDP we could order an app to share, entrees and dessert to share and come out about the same as the DDP.

Just for clarification, it's one wine "entitlement" per night of stay, not per meal...correct?? I can't imagine Disney selling a wine plan for $40/day that included multiple bottles of wine a day. As far as the drinking wine part, that's usually not an issue!!:rotfl2: Thanks for your input. From what others have said, I'm guessing that we will just continue to pay OOP for wine we WANT, not wine that Disney has deemed worthy of our wine credit. Thanks all!!

I'm a major wine geek and am impressed by the strides WDW has made in its wine selections, but I would never do their pre-paid wine program. First, many of the wines actually require 2 wine entitlements (so $80 for a $65-$75 bottle). Second, what if the one bottle you can get doesn't match with what everyone is eating? In that case it would be better to order by the glass or half-bottle, which you can't do on the plan, either. Third, several of the restaurants are offering wine flights (some very good ones, too), which is a fun way to explore new wines with minimal financial risk...and also not available on the plan.

All of the signature restaurants have good wine lists, but I've been particularly impressed with Flying Fish Grill. Someone really did their homework; there are some real gems on the list and the mark-ups are not outrageous (some even qualify as true bargains). And Jiko's selection of South African wines is just awesome.

No way would I ever do the Wine & Dine option. The cost is about $40 per night, per room reservation. For that you get one wine credit per night. These credits are good for a bottle of wine - but some bottles cost 2 credits and some are not included. I'd select my own wine, by the glass if that's how I wanted it. That way the entire party does not have to agree on one wine.

Sanaa and Kouzzina do participate...they are Disney-operated restaurants, and all Disney-operated restaurants participate in all permutations of the dining plan. But personally I much prefer the wine flights offered at both restaurants to purchasing a full bottle. From what I am seeing it is rather difficult to realize a savings on this plan. Use it only if you are most interested in a prepayment program for convenience rather than savings.
