Thanks for your help.

I too need recommentations. I find that tennis shoes ALWAYS rub my feet wrong, and leave blisters even when worn for a short time. I have big feet :confused3 . I prefer sandals and flip-flops as well. I am going in the summer and want something easy and cool. Are there such a thing as flip flops with support that are comfortable for a theme park day of walking???? My arches need support as well. I tend to wear slip on mule type and open toe shoes for work, and I know tennis shoes would be agony after a few hours. Any suggestions??

My favorite sneakers are New Balance. Never had a blister with them. I've worn them for 10+ years. If you're looking for a flip flop, Teva Mush are pretty darn comfy. My husband wore Chacos sandals for a couple of park days and found them to be quite comfortable...and he had a broken foot at the time, so that says a lot!

I alternate b/t New Balance and Crocs. The NB on shorter days b/c they tend to rub my pinky toe even w/ moleskin. But last trip was my first time with Crocs, and yeah you either love them or hate them. I was sort of in the middle. But one day of 8am to closing the park at 1am, not one ounce of foot pain, I'm am a Croc believer. No heel pain, no blisters, nothing.

My MOST FAVORITE pair are, believe it or not, Teva Mush flip flops!!

I was dubious at first; I was sure that only sneakers would provide the support I needed for a full week at Disney.

But those flip flops are wonderful!!!!

I got them on sale at www.sierratradingpost.com For our last trip, I got a pair for everyone in the family and a spare pair for me!!

Crocs! The specialist vented version. Not all Crocs are created equal. This style has nice arch support.

Sandals: Chacos, Born, or Keen

I don't care if the Crocs are vented or not, the plastic or rubber or whatever it is, is not comfortable without socks IMO.

I am going in 10 days with my first pair of Teva Mush. I also got another style of Teva flip flop, but walking around the house, I can tell they aren't going to be as comfy. But, I will alternate these 2 pairs of flipflops and a pair of flats that are really cute. I will wear my Uggs if it's cold. I don't like sneakers unless I'm running, but I'll have them with me for my morning runs, so if the other shoes aren't comfy, I CAN wear them, I guess.

The mush flipflops are amazing the moment you step into them. I just hope they hold up.

CROCS!!!! And some of their styles are actually quite cute. I just got new flip flops from them that have the same Croc footbed, but they're well...flip flops. And they aren't hard to walk in the way some flip flops can be.

Mine did.

The only reason I bought a 2nd pair for our second trip was that I wanted pairs in two different colors.

I always wear Crocs and I like the capri flip flops but I like the looks of the Teva. Is the price a good price or do they always sell for this price on this site. In other words, would it pay to buy now instead of waiting to closer to our June trip?

That's a decent price for them. I've never found anywhere cheaper than Sierra Trading Post's sales.

If you like the colors, I would buy a pair now for everyone going :)

I haven't worn them for a full-day at the parks (they are fairly new), but love my Croc Mammoths. They keep your feet nice and toasty, and are sooo comfortable, so I am going to give those a try this trip. They may not be the prettiest shoe in the closet (far from it!!), but comfort is starting to become more important.

As you can probably guess, I alternate between Earth shoes and Birkenstocks. I love, love, love Rainbow flip flops but there is not enough support for all day walking.

Hi

I recommend Merrell sandals. There are a couple of different styles to choose from.

I used to always wear sneakers to the parks, but wanted my feet to be cooler. I didn't think I could wear flip flops for commando park touring.

Someone recommended Merrell's to me and I bought a pair. They were great. I didn't break them in in advance, just put them on for the first time on the way to the park this past October. I now have 3 different pairs in different styles. One is the Siren Lyric, one is the Pesaro, and I don't remember the name of the other one.

Zappos is great because you can order them and they don't charge for shipping either way so it's easy to return if you end up not liking them.

If your feet hurt it can easily ruin your day and your travelling companions since you'll be complaining ;)

Happy shoe shopping.

I live in Canada...on Zappo's...a $16 pair of shoes would cost me $32 by the time I pay for shipping and the import fee they tack on. I just check the website :) Not worth it for us Canadians

Hi

Sorry, I didn't realize Zappos wouldn't ship to Canada without charging an arm and leg.

Maybe there is a local store that carries the Merrell sandals and you can try them on and not have to worry about shipping.

I'm pretty sure Nordstrom carries Merrell.

Or maybe the Merrell website directly. I see that they have a Canada section and a store finder.

Thanks

i used to wear crocs, until i discovered Fit Flops :cool1:

no more little blisters, achy feet, etc. they cost about $50 a pair, but everyone i know who has tried them, loved them! fit flops have a thick bed and good arch support...i wore them for walking miles at a time, and felt i could just keep going and going.....and they're cute!

now i have about 12 pair of dusty crocs (different styles and colors) ready to donate. my 4 pair of flit flops were a much better investment.

Crocs for me! I spent last year's trip in Reeboks and I regretted every minute of it. I was hesitant about Crocs in the beginning because 1) they are ugly and 2) didn't think a plastic shoe could be comfy. After buying a closed-toe pair of Nothinz in the fall, I'm now a convert. I have since purchased a pair of Beach crocs (toned-down color, of course) which will be on my feet when we leave for WDW on the 30th:thumbsup2

I must make a post on my favorite subject " shoes!!!" My biggest weakness. My favorites for parks are sketchers...LOVE THEM. I bought a pair that have a stretchy top, thong kind, with a very thick sole. They are the best things ever. I wore for a week of parks, and never regretted a minute of them.

Also, another favorite shoe is clark....hummm....just dreamy thinking about them.

Those are the ones I love the best. I've worn sneakers too...which are nice for the wild roller costers without bottoms, otherwise you have to take off the flipflops.

Our trip is in March and the first thing I'm planning (beyond having already gotten the trip reserved): WHAT SHOES TO WEAR?

So, what about for kiddos? Our 2 boys, 9 and 6, aren't crazy about flip flops because they find them difficult to keep on their feet, exactly like their father. Does anyone have any shoe recommendations for them?

I can tell you they love their Pumas, Nikes and Sketchers, but I'm not sure how those tennis shoes will hold up to all-day, every-day walking.

As I mentioned, my husband also has difficulty keeping flip flops on, can anybody recommend a good shoe for him?

We went several years ago I convinced my husband to purchase a pair of crocs there at the parks. Ever since he has been a fan and that is what he always wears to the parks. Of course, they are not overly stylish but to me comfort is what matters. I would also sugges them for your children. They sell them all around the parks but you could purchase them cheaper somewhere before you leave.

you need good sandals with arches and a thick sole but you also have to make sure you can ride any ride with them

the search will be hard but when you find them you will be thankfull because i got mine over a year ago and they are still as comfortable as ever

Whatever shoes you choose, try to choose a couple and change up.

I always spring for a pedicure right before going.... one so my toes and feet look good, but two because it gets rid of all the things that can hurt.....

I generally come prepared with both New Balance walking shoes and Crocs. I have Disney Crocs, but I favor the Cayman, since they come in whole sizes and seem to fit me better. When it is really hot I make sure to wear socks with Crocs, they are a great help when your feet are sweating.

If we are going to do some marathon walking, i.e. all over Epcot, I tend to wear the NB, but I have orthotics for those, so your results may vary.

Shipping on there for 1 pair of kids Teva's was $14.99 or $40 & $44..only 3 choices and they are all with UPS!!! Not worth it! No free shipping or anything for Canada!
Snce its UPS..you're looking at approx $10 for duty/brokerage fees....so a $10 pair of shoes turns into $40+ from them :(

Keen's for everyone! Bought a pair for myself a couple of years ago and LOVE them. Great because they withstand all terrain. My husband couldn't understand... he now has two pairs of sandals and a pair of 'winter' shoes because I got tired of seeing him with his sandals and wool socks. I'm now looking for a deal on kiddo sizes for our trip coming up the end of Feb/March.

They run a size small in my experience, FYI.

I have to agree with Art 1.
Eccos (specifically the receptor style) are the most comfortable sandal. Both DH and I swear by them. And yes for extra comfort I wear socks with them, though DH does not always.
They are a bit pricey but last forever.

I'm no expert but I will admit to being a mini-Imelda Marcos with my flip flops... well with all my shoes;) so I have a ton of choices in my closet. I might have over two dozen pair of flip flops/sandals... maybe... (I mean who's counting anyway):rolleyes1

I have to chime in and say how much I love my Teva's. I carried my crocs (which I used to love) but never ended up wearing during my 10 day trip last summer. I ended up alternating between my two brand new teva flip flops instead. I got the mush and mandalyn wedge (call me girlie/vain but I love heels - helps us girls with short thick legs look a little slimmer, lol). They were amazing! Especially after I tried to be cute with my Ed Hardy flip flops and did some foot damage. :lmao:

I've been to the world 4 times since then and my teva's are always packed.:hippie: When it got cold, I did pack a pair of Naturalizer loafers. They worked out well.

This year I'm considering a pair of sneakers or water shoes (not sure which I'll buy yet). Any suggestion for sneak's (aka tennis shoes, lol) and water shoes out there?

I just ordered Crocs for my husband and I. I got him a pair of the regular "Crocs" but they are Yankees and they were on sale for $14.99. I bought myself a pair in the outlet section of their website that look like a ballet flat. They were also $14.95 and came in many colors. If you go to the Crocs website you can see all their styles and order directly from them.

Also a little tip....their "Outlet" section of their website only show the sales in the outlet. Go to Men, Women or Children and put in priced lowest to highest in the search and you will see ALL the low priced ones. BIG selection.

AND free shipping right now as well!!!!

OH btw...they sell Disney crocs kids and adults for $14.95 as well!

Goodness, what do they think, you are smuggling shoes or something:rotfl2: I hope that you can find a great pair (or 2) of comfort, and have them shipped to you! How awful, maybe you will have better luck at stores. I am looking for the TEVA mush flip flops and have found some on ebay (haven't ordered yet), but they also sell them at famousfootwear, they are on sale on their website now. I was not able to pull up the shipping info to check on Canada shipping. Good luck! I am looking for them too, so when I find them and if they ship to Canada or have a store there I will post back to you:thumbsup2

I also wanted to say to whomever was looking for sneakers, I LOVE my sketchers delites! Now, I have never been to Disney, so I don't know how they will hold up long term. I have done some major walking in them, they are so light, and have great arch support (I have high arches). I got mine from shoebuy.com which always has a great sale, and you can also find on line coupon codes for them. I wish I could wear my UGG slippers, but I think they will be too hot in April (I live in TX, so know the weather for April should be warm, not scalding hot yet, but warm).

I was wondering the same thing! They look so basic and flat! I did buy a pair today - saw them on sale at Famous Footwear. Figured I would try them out before the trip, but I'm planning on buying another pair of sandals so I have two options in case one of the sandals don't work out. No way could I wear regular cheap flip flops down there with my high arches, but I've worn Teva Mush and Montrail Molokini flip flops down there for years and absolutely loved them. I felt both had great arch support. However, in the last seven months I've developed plantar fascilitis and my beloved Teva Mush killed my feet this past Dec down there.:sad1: After alot of research and trial and error, I've found the best fit flop I've ever found. It's the Orthaheel Tide or Orthaheel Wave flip flops. They were developed by a podiatrist for his patients. They are absolutely wonderful, but probably would not work for someone with flat arches as they have a rather high arch. The Fit Flops and Merrills also seem to work well with my plantar facilitis.

Thanks for the input, I'm definitely going to have to give them a shot. I was planning on wearing sun dresses for a few days of the trip because they tend to keep me a little bit cooler, but of course sneakers and sun dresses are the most fashionable combo. I'll have to check out Famous Footwear soon!

P.s. how do these flip flops tend to run? big? small? I'm a size 8 1/2 in most shoes, so would you recommend a 9 or an 8?

I love my TEVA TERRA FI 3's they are a little pricey ($50-80 depending on the store) but worth every penny for comfort. They have comfortable straps and high arch support. They also have an awesome shock pad for your heels. I won't go to WDW without them. I bought my first pair in 2007 and they are still holding up. I have put over 120 days of WDW park walking on them. They have also seen Rome, Greece, Turkey and Egypt I really wont go anywhere without them. They still feel amazing, although I now have 2 pairs (just in case).
If you are looking for something a little dressy KEEN is another favorite of mine, they make a black leather sandal called NAPLES. (around $60 at The Walking Company) I took them on my last WDW trip and they are so incredible that when I got home I went back to the store and bought a 2nd pair to have as back ups.
I also love my ZEALAND flip flops, very comfortable but no one should be wearing flip flops all day. No matter how comfortable they are, they are still a podiatrists dream. I use mine for quick trips and hotel meandering.
I hope you find something that works for your feet :)

I just bought an amazing pair of shoes - Terrasoles. These are simply the most comfortable, lightweight shoes ever! They come in sandals, flip flops and a slip-on. I think they do boots, too. Anyway, I would give them a shot! I only paid 14.99 at TJMaxx:cool1: here's a link to my shoe! :) oh, and for the record, if you use a Bank of America credit card and sign up for the Add it Up Program, you'll get a percentage cash back. I like those Terrasoles! My DH is going to flip if he sees another box arrive at my house. :lmao: But they look really comfortable. I like that you can wash them too.

I bought 2 pair of Teva mush in hopes of them being ok for me..I have been wearing the around the house as slippers...to try to break them in. Now i'm not sure if its cause my feet are aching a bit from the day but they don't seem to provide relief!!! :scared1:
Leaving in 4 weeks and the Sandal selection is very slim here cause its Winter boot weather still... what to do..what to do???

Lol! Just don't let him find out - have them shipped to your workplace! :lmao:

Well, I bought the Teva Mush (luckily on sale) and they aren't going to work for me.:sad2: While walking on pavement or in a store, I felt like there wasn't enough cushioning on my heels. The balls of my feet felt fine. I went to the playground and stood on mulch for about an hour and the backs of my knees were achy. I guess I'll keep looking.

Here's hoping they will work.. going to wear them around the house as slippers for the next week since its still freezing here and hope they will do the trick!

I've always been a big fan of Crocs. I think I will try the Capri flip flop and see how they feel. Thanks!

fit-flops are the absolute best:thumbsup2
tevas come in 2nd best, and crocs (regular and different flip-flop styles)actually fell allllllllllllllll the way down the list since i discovered the others.

fit-flops are a bit pricey, but worth every penny imho :lovestruc

Fit Flops are absolutely the best. Not only do I wear them whenever I go to WDW, I also wear them on my daily 3-4 mile walk (in the summer). The coolness and comfort of a flip flop with the support of a tennis shoe!
