Just got a call from Michelle, who said as of today BCV is available for sale here. She sent off an info kit on Beach Club and an updated video. We didn't talk too long; I was more interested in buying when the incentives were more attractive, but told her to send it all and we'd look at it. She really got right on the ball calling me!
At first, I told her not to send the packet because we weren't going to buy, and she said "let me tell you the details-- well, you're probably on the internet a lot so you know all this!" ;) How'd she know that? :D

I just got a call from my guide also but now I don't know what to do -- I'm in the middle of a resale that is a much better deal but my guide and I spoke so many times regarding buying at BCV but I got so impatient for the approval that I went ahead and deposited on a resale at BWV. I do want to add on at BCV but not until Dec or Jan so I don't know what to do -- I feel really bad and too embarrassed to tell my guide forget it for now but I'll talk to you in Dec -- oh boy.

Well, you know, if you found a better deal, you found a better deal. It's not your fault that things took so long AND the good incentives were dropped for NYers. I wouldn't worry about it. May as well be straight with your guide-- at least they might get an add-on out of you.

Add-on or new buyer?
My understanding is that incentives were in place for current DVCers but first-timers like me were SOL. My guide mentioned "new incentives" which sounded a whole lot like Magic Beginnnings.
I talked to her for less than two minutes, so I didn't get all the details.

We did an add on. If you were in the system before the $ 80.00 a point price increase you will get it at $ 75.00.

This is another reason why I decided to go the resale route -- I contacted my guide only a few days after the increase from $75. to $80. and was annoyed about it but it was my fault for not calling earlier. I would have to pay $80. per point for the same thing I got on resale at $66. per point -- now I'm buying BWV vs BCV but it's the same area of the World and that's where I want to be most of the time anyway so I feel I made a good decision but I still have to tell my guide and don't know exactly what to say.

It figures ! I just yesterday finally got a power of attorney set up with DVC legal to bring to WDW next week so that I could purchase while at a conference next week without my DH. My guide is on vacation untiul Saturday, I think it will still be faster to do it down there. But the irony of the timing !!!

All I know is I said to the guide, "I was more interested when you had the incentives going," and she said "we have a new incentive, but involves giving up your first year's points." So it must be a different situation for those that are not existing members.
As far as getting pre-price increase prices, I don't know. I made an inquiry about BCV back in February or March; I don't know if that qualifies me as having "gotten in before the increase."
I'm curious how this will affect any other NYers who are looking to buy in for the first time, but I don't want to waste my guide's time peppering her with question when I don't know if I can even get my dh onboard with this. Is there anyone else who made contact last spring who is looking to buy now?

When we got the POA too last month we were able to choose the $5 off the last price of $75. So we bought (add-on to our original OKW) 150 at BCV for $70 - this might be a minimum of 150 pts. I almost bought a resale at BW too.
WDWalways,
You got a very good price for a resale at Boardwalk. If the Epcot area is your preferred place to stay, really BWV and BCV are basically the same except for the usuage of Stormalong Bay. They are as close as you are going to get for similiarites in 2 DVC resorts. Why pay $14.00 more per pt? That is over $4.000 for a 300 pt contract. As far as the DVC guide, it is not like you had a binding contract with her, you want elsewhere when DVC was not able to offer you what you wanted. Good luck and welcome home!

Thank you!!! I'm sooooooooo excited!! :D :Pinkbounc
Well, I just left a voicemail message for my guide and I kinda fibbed but not really -- I told him that I was not ready to buy right now -- that I was ready when I first contacted him but since it took so long I used the money I had saved towards something else so now I have to save up my money again and will contact him as soon as I am ready to buy. This is actually the truth -- I used the money for my BWV resale and I am planning on adding on at BCV and will save up the money and call him to do the add on so I think that's ok.

Michelle called us also and left a quite winded message. If you were already quoted $75/pt prior to NY being approved then they will honor that price until September 14. Otherwise, it is $80/pt. The incentives available are the Magical Beginnings incentives which means they will buy your first year's points from you at $5/pt (a ripoff). They are currently selling, I believe, February use year (next year). That also means that instead of 40 years, you now will have only 39 (don't quote me on that one). We have decided against buying now. It just isn't in our budget. I'm a little sad but I can't justify the extra cost now for less years use. It sounds like quite a few people have gotten tired of waiting around. Maybe they'll have better incentives toward the end of selling out. You never know.
We just bought BCV with a Feb use year from DVC but the use year began this Feb. We banked this year's points for use next year. But I believe that we only pay dues from this July on.

Actually Disneyolic. the incentive being offered to NYers that were in the system is the original $5 off with the purchase of 100 points or more. This is not an MB incentive. If you purchase 100 points or more you get $5 off per point without giving up any of your first year points. Although I wonder if we could sell back the first year's points for MB as well.
AnnaS

That is correct. The $5 off is not the MB but rather if you bought 100 pts or more, you could choose the $5 off per point or free hotel night stays. We chose the $5 off the last price of $75. $70 per point was not too bad. I hope they are offering NY the same exact thing.

ripleysmom and Anna, I think that original $5 off incentive was only preserved for current DVC members who are planning on add-on. For first-timers buying in (potentially me and Disneyolic) I believe that incentive went away. Being "in the system" only matters in regard to the price increase.

When we added on last week we were told BCV is 46% sold out and DVC has 65,000 members and Eagle pines is moving along.
Even with the down turn in the economy DVc is selling strong and they are all suprised.

I'm not sure Jen. I would check on that. Also let them know that you know they are offering the incentive for current members and see if something can't be done for you.

When I spoke to my guide about a month ago, he said that the pre increase price and incentives would be offered only to NYers doing add ons as a way of honoring DVC's commitment to NYer's who were already members. New members, even from NY, would all have to take the new price and incentives(Magic Beginnings).

I had been waiting for BCV to open up since it was first mentioned in the news. Both my DS are members 1 at OKW the other at BWV. I was told in April that the points were $75 and there was an incentive of $5 off per point or a 5 night stay at a deluxe hotel. I live in NY and made arrangement to fly down 2 weeks later. Upon meeting with my guide I was told that there was no incentive of $5 off or the hotel stay even though I had made this journey down there because I couldn't buy in NY. Angry as I was I bought in anyway. Then I found out that they still were offering the incentive to DVC members in NY. Not a good beginning for DVC- I complained about the change in 2 weeks and they still would not honor the incentive. Now they still are honoring the price for DVC NY'ers and we were considering adding on but they won't honor the incentive for us as we weren't members before. Isn't that crazy? It's a good thing that I love the mouse because I am not too crazy about DVC right now.

wdwcrazy-- boy, you did get a raw deal. When you talked to them in April, did they mention the incentives would soon be going away? Did they know you were planning to travel down specifically to buy into dvc?

wdwcrazy - I am totally confused. I flew down on the last Sunday in April and got the $5 off per point on the $75 price. I also could have taken the free nights.
If you flew down in May, that is why you didn't get this deal. If you flew down in April, you got the shaft.

I spoke to my DVC guide the 3rd week in April. I did not fly down to Disney till May 6th. I was not told that the incentives were going away at the end of April or I would have made the jorney sooner. I did argue these points with them but they ultimately didn't care. It was not a great experience for me. I have been a Disney nut all of my life and am still glad I joined as I will benefit financially from the membership. But the magic is all gone. The pixie dust that has always been a major part of the Disney experience evaporated with that one statement when I entered the room. "I have some bad news for you. The incentives have all been stopped" It was because they knew I would sign anyway. I have been tracking this new opening since it's inception. Whatever- can't think about it or it will eat me alive. It was not a very Disney like experience. They didn't even tell me that they still were giving NY DVC'ers the incentive still. I found that out when I returned. That made the wound even worse. I paid cash and they couldn't even do the right thing. It still is a sound investment in vacations but it will never hold the Disney magic again for me.

I would be pretty bitter too. It sounds like you got pretty sloppy treatment from dvc. Can't believe your guide didn't call you when they found out the incentives were going away.

I was reading everyone's posts so fast... so the incentive for NY'ers on buying BCV is $5 off the original price? Am I understanding this correctly. I would love to do an add-on. Our home resort is HH when I did want BWV. (That was hubby's fault)... ha!

The incentives for NYers who were already quoted by their agents prior to approval are as follows:
$75/point until September 14.
Magical Beginnings - essentially $5 cash back for each point and you have to give up your 1st year's points (I don't think that's a good deal - you can rent them for $10/point). This may be until 9/14 also.
If you were not quoted prior, then I believe your SOL and have to pay $80/point.
Note - they are selling, I believe next February for use year which means that you will only have 39 years instead of 40. Don't quote me on that one, but I'm pretty sure.
We just bought (this July) with a use year of Feb 2002, so we got this years points and only pay dues from July 2002 when it opened. Not bad.

WDWCrazy. the next time this happens just get up and walk out. They know how to get a hold of you. The worst thing that will happen is you will pay the current price. Walking out gives you some leverage. If they want to make the sale, they'll come down in price. And let them know what you are willing to pay.

From the varying stories here on the boards I decided to just call my guide and find out whether or not they get my money.
:bounce: Good News :bounce: - They do.
I was told that all CURRENT NY MEMBERS can get the $75 price as well as $5 off per point (and keep the points - so NOT magical beginnings). She said that you do not even have to already have in a request from April.
Now the proud new owner of a 150 point addon at BCV for $70 per point! Yeah! (and 10500 more membership rewards points on my American Express!)
Sorry to those that have had a hard time with all this, I just wanted to share my happy news, and tell the NY members to call and ask if they are interested in adding on at a great price.
Now our BCV visit in a couple weeks will truly be a visit home! :D
