My husband is "forcing" me to take a weekend to myself, and I have decided to go to Disney. I am a "bargain hunter" at heart, but my Dh is, again, "forcing" me to stay at a Deluxe resort! How mean can a guy get, eh? LOL!!! I have narrowed my choices down to the Poly or the Boardwalk. I would be spending most of my time at MK, Epcot and MGM--I don't plan on doing AK. Convenient transportation is important, since I don't want to drive anywhere once I get there. Can you take the monorail directly from the Poly to Epcot, or do you have to go to the TTC first? Also, do you think PO-R or FQ would be a good choice? I certainly like their prices better!! LOL! But I think the Deluxes would have "easier" transportation, and I like the interior corridors. So, which resort would be better for a solo traveler? Anyone have any good/bad things to point out? Thanks!!

Another question--can you self-park at the Poly? I just briefly went to Tikiman's site and saw mention of valet parking and then a cart-ride to your room. Being by myself, I would rather be as unobtrusive as possible and I would like to self-park and walk to my room myself. What about the Boardwalk? Thanks!!!

I have done 2 solo trips at POR ( when it was Dixie Landings ),
and one solo at The Swan. Because thse trips were without my DH, ( he preferred to stay at home ), I found the transportation options to be much easier at The Swan. I chose The Swan because I got the $129.00 rate on gov't discount. I thought The Boardwalk might be too busy at night for me being a light sleeper. So.....for a solo trip I would recommend Swan/Dolphin, or The Yacht Club/Beach Club. I will be at The Swan again on December 2nd.

I would definitely stay in the Boardwalk area! Two of the three parks you want to do are close by and bus transp to MK from Boardwalk is good. You can walk the Boardwalk at night which is fun and there's alot of action going on over here. I think the Poly would be too subtle by myself. BOARDWALK! BOARDWALK! BOARDWALK!

The Boardwalk area is great and to decrease the cost look into renting points from a DVC member. That can be done right here on the DVC members board.

Regarding your question about getting from the Poly to Epcot... The easiest option is to walk to the TTC and hop on the monorail to Epcot. It's a very short walk from the Poly, particularly if your room is on the side of the resort closest to TTC (which ours was).
The other (and longer) option is to take the monorail from the Poly stop around the loop past the GF, MK, CR to the TTC, then transfering there to the Epcot monorail. You can also take the bus.
I went to the Poly last year, and really liked it for its convenience to MK and Epcot. This year we're staying at Boardwalk Inn for its convenience to Epcot and MGM. I'm sure whatever you choose will be great!
Enjoy!

I agree with the replies for the Boardwalk. Think how nice it would be to be able to walk to Epcot to see the live performances in the WS and people watch while eating those awesome French pastries only a 10 minute walk or so from your room.
