~The Daily Grind~ 1/7/10

It's The Day Before Friday!

So, yesterday on the new "instrument" ( it's still a machine to me.....but I digress....) was OK. Well, except for the migraine that tried to cancel the whole thing. Started about 10 min before the begining of the shift, and just kind of hung around... Now I feel wooly brained, and ready for bed! Good news is I DIDN'T BREAK ANYTHING!!! :dance3:

One more day of training, and I should be all set! Today I get to do "decontamination"... now doesn't THAT sound so funnnn!!

My List for today:

Caffeinate http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e147/ddavis860/smiley/smiley_drinkcoffee.gif This repeats every day!!

Try to keep my word kinder

Swish and Swipe... everyday! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e147/ddavis860/smiley/wc.gif

:laundy:

Work at 3p

Try not to break anything... again, just have to make it through today!!

Have a Great Day Everyone!! :teeth:

Decontamination?! Sounds lethal!:scared1:

My to do list for today:

Throw a load of laundry into the wash
Put wood in the woodstove
Feed kitty
Change his stinky pete box
Write in DD's communication book
Get DD up and ready for school
caffeinate. I found out yesterday if I bring my own travel mug to our work cafe my coffee will be cheaper. Will add up to a savings of $ 48 per year. Jennifer, I found our cost savings, no need to cut something from DH's budget, for now. :rotfl2:
Work, I almost forgot to put this into my day.
Go to the grocery store
Make Magic Bars
Dinner ?
Watch Uconn womens basketball game. :woohoo: They are playing Cincinnati.

Plugging away on daily lists - this clean two "special things" routine is working awesomely! I feel like my family has been replaced by Stepfords...they keep walking around saying "Wow...look how great the (blank) looks!"

Scary.

The funny part...each "thing" is only taking me about 10-15 minutes, max. But, at least so far, each tiny area is staying clean and we'll see how long that lasts.

Will try and post some pics today of scrap area (for the organization thread) and our new Disney pin board (because I promised forever ago and keep forgetting).

Way to go, Jennifer - still no scrappy money spent by either of us. I don't think I've actually spent on anything, other than grocery food! (And passport photos for the kids - but that $$$ was in the "25th anniversary trip" envelope) We CAN keep each other motivated. Seven days now - woo woo!

Christy - glad things are going well with your Dad. That's great!

Stephanie - can't believe you are colder than we are - sheesh! We're gonna be hit later tonight with 1-3" of snow - hoping for 1" - since there's already so much on the ground!

morgansmom2000
01-07-2010, 06:52 AM
That's great Pam!

Wait until you all see the pin board, it's a masterpiece!

I've really only spent on stuff from Target (food and stuff - Morgan has really missed Smartfood and fruit roll-ups), and food. Oh, and some postage, but that's for the Troops, so it really doesn't count.

I remembered I also have a return at The Paper Store today. I got a VB lunch-box type cooler before Christmas. I don't neeeeeeeeeed it, so it's going back.

Almost half of the clothes I got Morgan for Christmas don't fit. She's growing way too fast! And, the new jacket I got her has a hole in it. That means a trip to Macy's tomorrow. Over near Starbucks!

Mornin! It's cold in Texas! I know, I know, nothin' compared to you seasoned cold peeps, but we are cold! Lol.

I'm not making a list today. It's the College Football National Championship game day and my beloved Longhorns are playing tonight! I'm too nervous and excited to do anything. (Yes, it's true, Texans are huge high school/ college football fans. Friday Night Lights doesn't lie.) Lol. So as we say here, the Eyes of Texas are upon you!:thumbsup2

Today will be watching the news.. Our kids had school w/ NO DELAY & the roads are NASTY, NASTY, NASTY!

In the infinite wisdom of the 2 snowplow drivers that were working tandem...the front driver was plowing and laying salt...the driver 5 feet behind him was immediately plowing the salt just spread over to the side of the road! Now, I know I'm just a dumb blonde..but aren't we defeating the purpose?????

So, I'll put away laundry later
watch the bottom of the TV screen and pray 1. the kids get out early or 2. they cancel the basketball game tonight... either way to have my babies home would make me feel a lot better... as I said the roads are NASTY and it doesn't help with foolish drivers who don't want to drive according to road conditions... MORONS!

AlexWyattMommy
01-07-2010, 10:00 AM
Our new winter policy is there will NO early dismissals. If the roads turn bad once the kiddos are in school, they will send out a phone call that says you can come get your child. Otherwise, they will come home on the bus and normal time.

I'm so glad they cancelled our classes. My minivan doesn't have 4 wheel drive and the brakes are broken on the Durango. My kids would be stuck in school until normal class end.

How much do you have now on the ground?

Oh and yes - plowing up the freshly laid salt is stupid.

PrincessNancy96
01-07-2010, 10:07 AM
3" and it's still coming down at a quick pace... :(

We can still have early dismissals... however the state did away w/ 1/2 days...so there had to be a compromise in there.... my kids are all w/in 3 blocks of the house... I can get to all the kids so there wouldn't be an issue getting them home... It's just the roads are bad and counties surrounding us canceled this morning...but I told the kids we wouldn't get a break on this... we never do.. fog w/ no visiblity and we were still going to school on time... you had to hope that the bus didn't miss your house earlier this year... :( Sometimes the thought processes leave you scratching your head!

A little late to the party. We are having our ceilings drywalled in the front and back parlours. Eeek, we had to move 90% of the stuff out to the other rooms. The first floor is a mess. They also replaced part of a wall on the secound floor - even though they are really careful there is still drywall dust everywhere!

Today

Clean kitchen...
Stay out of the contractors' way
Call my Grand mother (she is so cute, she is 88 and lives alone on a lake in the middle of nowhere - dirt road for 4 miles to her house and 13 miles to the nearest town)
Do some laundry
Pack up the rest of Christmas
Maybe scrap?

Have a great day...

I have so enjoyed my mornings at home these last few days! Didn't get much done thanks to FB apps...gotta feed my people and take care of the farm :lmao:

I'm off the next 3 days, so the rest of Christmas will come down, and I'm going to catch up on my Buffy and Hope missions...

01-07-2010, 11:44 AM
Well, we just got the phone call.... while they are keeping the kids till the end of the day... afterschool activities are canceled! YEAH!!

After that phone call, I got a call from my BFF from home... her mom is on life support (knew that information).... bless her heart... I hope Mom pulls through.... I need to get up there to see her this weekend.... as her 2nd daughter she needs to know I'm there.. Than she tells me her DH was in a car wreck on one of the country roads after taking her Ds15 to school.. they are transfering him to another hospital to evaluate his head injury... so depending on what we hear in a few hours since the game is canceled, I may have DH take me to her..... we will have to see about the weather.. she puts me on hold.. comes back crying even more.. it's the school her DS15 was hurt and needed transported to the hospital by school because he hurt his leg walking in this nasty weather from the ag building to the school building... so I'm waiting to hear from her to see how her son is... luckily we were able to reach her dad and he was headed to the hospital to be with her son.... MY gosh, I wish I lived closer to help out.... I told her to come stay here tonight.... I'll have to really push the issue.. Grandpa (her dad) can take care of the boys...
Anyway, if anyone could send her some prayers and pixie dust it would be appreciated...

Than we got our insurance policy and they lost all of DD's info that I submitted on 12/2.. DH is NOT playing nice w/ the agent.... He is down stairs being very vocal but polite... NOT me, that is why DH is dealing w/ this.. I'm not paying for what they screwed up.. I upheld my duty as a parent and insurance holder.... EEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Nan, I will keep your BFF and her family in my thoughts.

Me too. Sure puts my day into perspective!

I met my friend for breakfast at a Panera not too far away, but not too close either. Left there a little after 10:00 am and did a bunch of errands, Target, ACM, Old Navy, etc. I got to The Paper Store to return my item and couldn't find my credit card. Well, I'm kind of forgetful, so I assumed it was at home (I had taken it out of one bag to bring with me, because I'm not keeping it in my regular carry around bag so I won't use it). So, I did some more errands, grocery store, bread store, etc., and get home and there's a message from Panera. I dropped my credit card and the manager had it, they locked it up. All well and good, but I had to go back and get it. Errrr, sometimes I even amaze myself at my stupidity!

So, while it was a pain in my butt to have to go BACK to Panera, it's no where near as much as your friend is going through. My thoughts are with her.

We're getting pounded with the white stuff here....

We had a meeting this afternoon, and I looked out about 2:30. It was snowing but not sticking. I left at 3:00 to pick up the boys from school (regular dismissal) and it was terrible. Slushy, snow covered roads, ick. The public schools dismissed at 12:30, but the boys' school did not. You can pick up your kids if you want to, and they don't count it against them. The public schools have been canceled for tomorrow already, and I'm guessing the boys' will too.

Nan, your friend and her family are in my prayers.

Nan your friend is in my prayers.
Holly wishing for no snow for you so you can go play, please send it all north we NEED it.

While your all praying if you could add one in for Kevin Pearce I'd appriciate it. Tom worked for his fathers company and we knew all the kids years ago. Simon Pearce glass is one of the area's big employers, many of our friends are still employed there. For those wondering who Kevin is he was pretty much a shoe in for the US Olympic team in snowboarding. His parents are some of the most down to earth large corporate owners.

As for Dad things are on an uphill swing he did lots of walking today but still no food. They are taking it VERY slow because they messed with the bowels so much. Mom and I are slightly nervous as his DR is leaving to see his son play hockey in Canada tom and he'll be a 6 hour drive away.

Work went well I'm scared to death to fly solo tomorrowbut will muddle through. We did as much prep as we could cause tomorrow is a double day. 2 fris we do breakfast as well.
My foot is still killing me and as I type it is soaking for the 2nd hour in epson salt. Mom looked at it tonight an has no clue they tried poking the spots and nothing came out. Tom said it looks a little better changed my water and went too bed. I;m going to probablly spen the night in the chairsoaking it.

Typing on the boys crummy old slow laptop so please excuse me.
off to try to do some catch up.

Stephanie, hard to believe sn@w is in your forecast but none for ours. Since your area isn't used to it, I recommend hunkering down and stay off the roads until it clears up. People who are used to sn@w can't drive in it either though.:rotfl2:
