Hi Guys,
Can anyone recommend a free Website/space provider? I want to build a website but I'm not sure who to use as a host?
Any Ideas?

Most internet service providers provide you with a small amount of webspace (10-20Mb).
If you want your own domain name for your site you will need to register the name - the cost of this various depending on whether you want a .co.uk or a .com etc. You may also need to pay a yearly web hosting fee depending on your site size and how popular it is.

If you want it for pictures, www.imagestation.com is free and lets you hotlink!

Her's a good web host povider. They are not free but you can register domains and host for as little as £1.49 per month.

We use www.freeola.com for our hosting. You have to buy your domain name from them at approx. £30 but you can then have free hosting as long as you are connected via their site when you upload your website.
Sounds a bit complicated I know but they give you full instructions and, let's face it, if I can do it - anyone can!! It also saves a ton of money.

Hotlinking is when you can post your image...for instance in a post on the DIS and it will display no problem. Most places where you host pictures for free don't allow this, you either get the red X or a logo of the site where the pic lives...you can only view a picture on their site, where you will also see their advertising (which is usually the reason why their service is free as it's subsidised by the ads)

Well Angie I didn't know what hotlinking meant either so thanks Penny for clearing that up - I fell a little bit wiser.......I'm still a technophobe though ;)

I've tried "hotlinking" to individual pictures but it only lets me link to an entire album.
Off to have a play around later.
