I am closing next week on my 240 points and I am going to let my brother use a few of my points to stay at boardwalk. Will he also get a 10% discount on a length of stay pass for his family. :D

I can't say always, but so far our friends and relatives were able to get it. We were usually with them, and on their keys to the rooms, it says DVC. Someone else on the boards may have had a different experience, but so far no problems here.

Can I add to this question? If we have AP's and my parents come along and want UMP's can they get the discount...or can we get it for them? Isn't there some sort of rule about all members of a party getting UMP's (totally separate from the discount question)...or does that not apply if members of the party have AP's?

Lesley, Last year we got the Length of Stay for my brother, while we had the APs. We haven't tried the UMP yet, because it's relatively new. I think it replaces the Length of Stay, (could be wrong though).

All they did was change the name from LOS to UMP - they are still the same passes.

We had APs and got UMPs for our guests last year. The only issue here is that you are not accompanying them. Under those circumstances, I am not sure they get the discount.

Actually I think the name has changed a third time. I believe they are now called the Unlimited Park Hopper.
Go figure...

Length of stay is now called the Ultimate Park Hopper Pass. As set out in the Members Benefits Guidebook, the discount on the pass is available only to members and guests who are staying with the member at the same time the member is there; thus it is not available to people who are renting who are not members. The documents also state that if you are renting you are supposed to tell MS that when making the reservation. Nevertheless, as noted above, it appears the resort may often give the discount even when guests are staying there without the DVC member; thus I guess there is resort discretion on this one.

As to the AP question, you can purchase the length of stay for those in your party who do not have the AP when you have one. That rule is universally followed by the resorts, not just with DVC
