Can someone who's been on the Magic please confirm whether or not the TVs in the staterooms have video in ports. That is, the yellow, red, and white ports that we can connect a AV cable to so we can view video and hear audio from a digital camera or iPod. Of course, we realize we have to bring the correct cable along with us.

Many thanks.

DD had no problem connecting any of the electronics she brought along. Yes, they have AV input ports.

Sorry but a couple more questions. Were the red, yellow, and white outlets on the front, side or back of the TV?

Also, is there an electrical outlet near the TV to plug in something?

Thanks again.

Not sure where the red, yellow, and white were located. I'm thinking the back but i'm not 100 % sure. As for the electrical outlet. It is right next to the TV either on the right or left side depending which way your room is set up. But the best advice I have ever heard and used was to bring a power strip because 1 outlet is just not enough!

I also think that they are in the back. The TV pulls out and angles, so they are reachable. Also - there is an extra outlet in back of the tv that you can also reach... My son lost his phone and charger - maybe he left it there...Lost and found didn't locate it - so if you are in SR 6030 can you look for me? :) (HA HA - I would drop over if it were there...)

Just to stir the pot :stir:, the official line from DCL is you can not connect your own equipment to their TV's (as another member posted earlier this week).

just to reiterate, a power strip, or three way, or extension cord with multiple outlets is invaluable, regardless of if you intend to use it for video equipment or anything else...

Correct....I actually posted it in the other thread. I was surprised when I came across that your personal DVD players and similar items were not supposed to be hooked up to the stateroom TV.

I will post it again here.

Prohibited Items
Question
What electronic devices or appliances are not permitted on board?
Answer
Personal VCR/DVD players are not allowed because of compatibility issues with the stateroom TVs. Stateroom categories 1, 2 and 3 feature DVD/CD players. Concierge has a wide range of movies available, ranging from those suitable for kids to those for adults. Guests can make arrangements to check out the movies through the concierge staff at no additional charge.

Nintendo and other video game consoles are not allowed because of compatibility issues with the stateroom TVs. Children can visit the Oceaneer Lab during Family Time to play games on the latest in gaming technology. Teens can play at the Stack or Aloft, depending upon the ship. Guests should check their Personal Navigator for times.

Personal irons are not allowed in staterooms due to safety concerns. Irons are available for use in the laundry facilities located on decks 2, 6 and 7.

Seasonal and celebratory lighting strings are prohibited due to safety concerns.

Metal detectors are not allowed on the ship or on Castaway Cay, as any object found using these devices would need to be returned to the owner or donated to charity.

Electronic devices or appliances that are permitted include:

Laptops
Cell phone and camera battery chargers
Walkie-talkies and two-way radios (e.g., Motorola, JVC). Please be aware that the amount of steel in the ship's infrastructure may cause some "dead zones" and the radios may not transmit in these areas.
A small portable fan. However, please contact Guest Services to have the Chief Electrician approve the use of your particular appliance in the stateroom.

Thanks for all the info. Actually, the only 2 things we want to hook up to the TV are:

- Our digital camera to view the pics we took each day
- Our iPod to listen to music through the TV speakers occasionally

Thanks again.

I take this as a regular vcr/dvd players & not a portable dvd player for the children's use in the car. Am I right or wrong?:confused3

Yeah, I am a little confused as to what they mean by "prohibited"... do they mean they will confiscate it if they find it in your luggage? Or do they just not want you USING those items... I am not bringing a metal detector or any of those other items, but I WILL have a portable DVD player (or two or possibly three) for our time in the airport and on the plane.

Would they be okay if I used it by itself and not hooked up to the TV? I don't see the harm in that... :confused3

No inside information, but my read on this is they don't want it hooked up to their TV's. The TV isn't supposed to allow this, but the signal from your DVD player could go out on the antenna cable to other cabins, or at the very least cause interference on other TV's. You can bring them as long as you watch them on the built in screen.
