From the internet:
THE TOP TEN SIGNS YOU HAVE AN UNHEALTHY DISNEY OBSESSION 10.
You know how many hairs are on the leg of the drunken pirate sitting on the bridge.
9. You have more Disney movies than Blockbuster.
8. Your favorite song is "Zippity-Doo-Dah".
7. When you hear people talking about "the underprivileged", you assume they are referring to those who have to stay off-site.
6. You refer to Wal-Mart and McDonald's employees as "cast members".
5. You've added spires and turrets to the roof of your house.
4. You tried to pay your electric bill with Disney Dollars.
3. Your children's names are Ariel and Alladin.
2. You pray that nobody will ever discover your dirty little secret: That you sneak out of bed in the middle of the night, logon to the internet, and drool over online pictures of WDW.

From the Internet:
My kids love going to the Web, and they keep track of their passwords by writing them on Post-it notes. I noticed their Disney password was "MickeyMinnieGoofyPluto," and so I asked why it was so long. "Because," my son explained, "they say it has to have at least four characters."
This one is probably true.

DCL Removes Age Groups for Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab
DCL recently sent letters to upcoming cruisers announcing a new policy for the children's programming. Beginning mid-December on the Wonder and January on the Magic, Disney Cruise Line has removed the age restrictions for children in the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab. Children will be able to choose which activities they would like to participate in, regardless of age. Activities will be listed in the Personal Navigator with suggested ages.

Villains Show Comes to DCL
With the announcement that the Toy Story musical will be moving from Disney Cruise Line to Disney's California Adventure, the villains will be taking its place. "Villains Tonight!" will premiere on the Magic beginning March 27, and then later on sailings of the Dream. This family-friendly show begins with Hades losing his evil. He will have to look for some inspiration in Disney's cast of villain characters. For a video introducing the show, visit:

If I were not at sea: is a variety show on the Disney Magic in the Rockin' Bar D in Beat Street which is presented the very last night of a seven night caribbean cruise.
The question is if this is also presented on the Wonder, if not what is ?
Also would like to know if the same show is presented on the Magic Med Cruises ?
I've seen it twice and it's really GREAT. Definetly would like to see it again.
Anyone remembers all the characters presented on this show ? I'll just mention the one that I liked the most:
Light House Girl !

Another thead just opened for another group whom are on this very same itinerary ( 7 nights Mediterranean Cruise ) with the only diference that they sail one week before; that is we get on as they get off. So information sharing is welcome from both groups since we will have plenty of needs in common.

What I have picked up so far from many different boards, blogs, and other cruises is that the shore excursions are some how complicated. Many take a lot of time on a bus ride; to go and to come back.
For example, the Florence - Pisa excursion may take from 4 to 5 hours on a bus round trip. Some cities have a lot of traffic delaying even more your excursion leaving you with very little time to admire the historical monuments or whatever you want to do. :scared1:
The boat from Naples to Capri aparently is very, very rough even with a mild surf; any worse and it get's cancelled. :scared1::scared1::mad::scared1:
Some excursions that mention some walking / up and down trails / etc aparently are not mild at all. You will need good conditions in order to enjoy it. Oh, and of course proper clothes. :hyper:
I haven't decided yet which excursions will I take but considering what other people are saying I might kip it simple and city-focused. I guess it's more cost efficient to enjoy one city really good than enjoying a lot of them just a little bit ! :cool1:
Must consider family group and I recomend no suprises on this excursion or the suprise might be on you. :yay:
Now what ever you do, include lunch; every review gave a plus on the food and the wine; so dedicate enough time for that. :bounce:
After all, you can always come back ! :rotfl:

Ahh yes, DD's big birthday...I forgot about that leeetle detail. Well, you're still welcome to hang out here until you find yourself some more peeps on your cruise!
I poked around a little bit yesterday on a cruise website (CruisesOnly.com) just to nose around & see what was out there. I've been reading other threads about people jumping ship from DCL to cruise on other lines...and then there are some saying sales are slow. Well, they apparently only post the itineraries at 18 months & they don't even have August 2011 up for sale yet as we're still just under that mark right now. Actually, looking at my ticker, TODAY is exactly our 18 month mark! Anyway, you can only select cruises through July. And the only 2 cruiselines that came up for that far out were DCL and Carnival. So I suspect come March they will post August. So of course until then sales will be slow. WE are the early birds! Hopefully we'll pick up more peeps in a month or two. :goodvibes
I guess a little pacience won't hurt. As you mentioned we earlybirds once we book we just can't wait to get back on.
DCL Marketing should kick in very soon. Do you think they read the threads in order to obtain feedback ? or what cruisers are saying ? None the less here is a letter post for DCL Marketing and Sales departments:
"Dear DCL Marketing and Sales castmenbers; please send us some cruiser along. Here's some pixiedust: to help you out.
Thank you.
DCL Fans"
Now the trick is to know if they get this.

YAY! Looks like you figured out how to load a custom avatar! :thumbsup2
Not sure what you mean that you're looking for to add into your siggie... Do you mean to make a countdown ticker? Those you can do by right clicking on one in anybody's siggie - it will open the website where they were made so you can make your own. I like the one where you can use your own pictures - they just upload directly from your computer. The tickers are very easy to make and there are several sites out there to make them from. Once you make it then you have to copy the code to put into your signature (you can edit it in the CP panel).
Not sure if I can explain how to post pictures or not but I'll try. In order to post pictures you need to upload them to a photo hosting website like photobucket or shutterfly. Then you open up the pic you want to post from that site and right click on it. That will open a little dialog box - then you highlight & copy the info. in the "properties" line - that's the pic address. Then you paste that info. into the DIS edit icon that looks like a mountain with the sun in the corner. If you copy the WHOLE properties line thing you will end up with the "http://" part on it twice after you paste the info. so before you close the box & post it you have to delete that first http:// part so you're not duplicating any part of the address. Does that make sense? It's sorta hard to explain but so let me know if you can follow that or not. :goodvibes

Hi there - I just booked this cruise today. I was on the phone with DCL and realized I had two reservations for a 7 day Eastern Cruise this October. I had booked in 2008 on the Magic, and then again in 2009 on the Wonder. So I needed to cancel or move the reservation. I decided to move it to this cruise!
It sounds like it will be a lot of fun!

DCL told me very little about the cruise, but that's mainly because I researched on my own. We have cruised with DCL three times before, The 7 day western in 2007 & 2008, and the 3 day bahamas in 2009. We are heading out on the 7 day eastern in October. So this will be our first Med Cruise. We are really looking forward to it!
We have been to Italy and France before, but there are some new cities for us in the mix here, and the boys will only have been to Venice Italy before the cruise. So it will be all new to them!

Thank you Annie, I've seen that yor thread has started to get crowded.
:jumping1:
I've been doing some internet research and what I have found is that mostly all efforts on filling up the ships is focused on "The Dream" with all of that new stuff that it has, considering we are still not quite around the corner.
Personally I'm more about the itinerary then the boat; lucky for me DCL still has lots of itineraries and with two new ships comming in there wont be any problem to to enjoy both things for a very long time

Among us I'm the only one that has been to Europe begore. DW and DD have never crossed the Atlantic so for them expectations are very high.
Our state room is No. 6633 it's an inside room. I learned on our DCL first cruise that the fun is all over the ship and spent very very little time in the verandah; instead we prefer to buy DCL merchindise and pay for $ 20 perfect pictures.

The best thing I picked up regarding the port info is that it's an average 30 minutes from any where in Barcelona, it practically gives you the whole morning on sailing date.

Hello Carrianne - welcome to MRAven's cruise! I am a lurker from the Aug. 13 cruise thread - we have all sort of been hanging out together & visiting each others threads just to keep each other company. It can be lonely to be an early booker!!
That is so funny...I had already seen that website and had it bookmarked!!!:thumbsup2 I am planning to do one eventually too (if I can figure out how to do it & make it look good) and they have some valuable info. there! I want to capture the Barcelona info. etc. I also like the handy money converter link. I am going to check out the same place that she used to make that one. We had a website on my last cruise too... Later, once we got to know each other (we all booked really early too) the girl who did ours organized weekly or bi-weekly trivia games to see if we could match up the facts with the person! You know, who said this or who did that or lives where - that kind of stuff. Multiple choice games...we played it sort of like the board game Clue. It was fun.:goodvibes

Annie,
That sounds like so much fun! I've just started my research for this cruise -it was a bit spur of the moment. I'm big into passporter, but I don't think the 2011 comes out until the end of the year. So surfing the net will have to do! It's nice to meet both of you - but we'll be waving to you when you depart :( for you ;) for us ! It should be a great itinerary!

Reisterstown is sort of near Baltimore isn't it? We live in upper Montgomery County, just north of Germantown. We are right off of I-270, about 21 miles north of DC...and 20 minutes south of Frederick. It takes us about 1 hour to drive to BWI.:goodvibes

Regarding the bucket list here's a foot note for it, Google them:
Angel Falls: World's talest waterfall in the world's oldest territory. Disneys movie Up gives a great highlight.
Los Roques: Best place to be on the Caribbean. George Bush Senior used to come here on a private yatch to fish.

Nope, it didn't work the first time, but I did see it on the preview.
Let's givi it another tray. At this time I can see the banner on the preview post.
2nd attempt and It did not work. Sorry I will remain Bannerless for a while until I figure it out.
The ticker does say: 1 Year, 5 months and 25 days until it's time !

Hummm...and so you see it when you preview it but we can't once you save your siggie? Are you putting it at the TOP as the first thing in your siggie? There is a size limit as to how many lines long your siggie can be. Maybe it's just DOWN too far if you're putting it at the end?! Does the code that you're copying look similar to this?
[img]http://www.mickeypath.com/id/1269673175.png
Try putting it as the first thing in your siggie then reduce the font size on your other lines & cut out the blank spaces or something... Maybe? Just a thought?! Can't wait to see it!

I found this thread tonight and it has lots and lots and lots of info on Med Cruising.
The first post dates July 12th, 2006, and it runs for 85 pages. I told you it had lots of information !
But it does have quality information. So if you have the time I recomend to read it.
The thread beguins with the following question by Kissimmee:
"We want to do a layover in either Paris or London and were wondering if Orlando - Paris - Barcelona - Orlando will be cheaper than RT Orlando - Paris and a separate RT Paris - Barcelona"
It gets really good after that, so here's the link and thank you to all of those great tips:
The thread is called: The Med Thread - All Sailings - Mediterranean

I would like to get some oppinions on which is best at dinner time while on the cruise: First Seatting or Second Seatting ?
My personal experience has been only on Second Seatting; this are my reasons:
1.- DW and DD take for ever to get dressed !:rotfl2:
2.- More time to stay at ports or shore excursions.
3.- I'll be so much hungrier, therefore enjoying much more dinner.
For this Med Cruise, I've also booked Second Seatting but like I said would like to hear other oppinions.

Well, I am full of opinions so I'll give you mine about the dinner thing.:goodvibes We always eat late dinners at home (rarely before 8:00) and are even more inclined to eat late on vacations. We hate to cut our days off to stop to eat. And on the cruise, having early dinner means rushing back onboard from whatever excursion you were on to shower & change. I always feel bad for those people who have to pack up & leave the pool at 4:00 or 4:30 so they can be ready by 5:30 for dinner - BUT it clears the pool area out so I can have it all to myself.:rotfl2: And another thing is if I eat THAT EARLY then I am definitely going to be hungry again by like 10:00...so I would be looking for those late buffets...can we say CALORIES!? Ummm...don't need those!!:rotfl: I definitely do not need 2 dinners slung around my waistline!!! Finally, especially important to note on these Med cruises is that we have 2 ports with onboard times of like 9:00 pm. These are going to be LONG days...and I fully expect that we will be trying to make the most of our time on land in Naples & Rome and could possibly miss dinner altogether - that would be even more likely with an early dinner seating.
I am already wondering how early we'll be able to find out what night will be formal night, semi-formal & lobster night!:rotfl: Since the 7 night Meds will be new I think it's going to be hard to plan for Palo etc. I just hope formal night is not on the Naples or Rome nights. We may plan to do Palo brunch on our sea day instead of a dinner this time. It would require less packing as it would be a little more casual than dinner and it would eliminate me trying to decide which night...And if I can't get a slot for brunch maybe we'll just skip Palo. We have never done the brunch but I hear it's quite good. But it is usually only be available on sea days & since we only have 1 it will book up quick.
SO. There ya have it. My opinion is for you to stick to the late dinner.:)
CarrianneB
03-05-2010, 03:40 PM
We love late dining. We have plenty of time in port, don't need to rush through dinner, and usually we aren't hungry enough for early dining. We tried early dining on our last cruise and are moving back to late!
MRAven
03-05-2010, 09:30 PM
Well, well; late dinner for reasons exposed so far sounds better.
But remember, at least 50% of the cruisers on each ship have to dine earlier.
I did notice while booking cruises that unless you state otherwise they autometically place you on first dinner. So, for all of those that are a little bit like CarrianneB, Anal Annie and myself ensure to request second seating; don't leave it untill boarding.
So far 3 - 0
Here is something to consider:
At what time is sunset during summer time (August) in the Mediterranean ? You may not want to miss it ! :scratchin
Anal Annie
03-08-2010, 10:02 AM
We are definitely booked for the 2nd dinner seating. I would pitch a real fit if they tried to put us on the early one! Sunset is when it is. We usually have at least our smaller camera with us at all times on vacation so if it's sunset time I would leave dinner for a minute to run out on deck to check for a sunset shot. Animator's is the only restaurant without windows so we would be able to get an idea of what was going on outside from either Parrot Cay or Lumiere's.:thumbsup2
CarrianneB
03-08-2010, 11:32 AM
I agree that you need to ask for it - but one time I did and was told it was booked full!! I eventually got it, but that gave me incentive to request at time of booking every time.

lol :rotfl2:
Don't forguet the late afternoon snack they offer by the pools if you happen to be on the ship. Ice cream, chocolatte chip cookies, hot dogs, burgers, pizza, wraps, expresso coffee, etc.
If you are in the early diner, you can't enjoy them as much other wise you won't have any appetite.

Well, you will sure hit that Gold Castaway Memebership really soon. At my rate and planed future cruises it will take me about 5 more years.:snooty:
So this are my Nice to Heve future DCL cruises:
1st take the Mediterranean which is already booked. :cheer2:
2nd the 5 nights Bahama on the Dream.
3rd Go back to Europe but this time take the north itinerary with about 12 nights and go from Dover to St. Petesburgh. This is a big one and will require a lot of financial planning considering at least one week in England and one week in France. This one will give me my Gold Castaway Memebership
4th Take tha Wander and go to Alaska.
5th Waiting for the Fantasy to see which itineraries they offer but really wish for: Hawaii and/or Estern Mediterranean, that is Greece and soroundings. pixiedust:
After that, I have no Idea :rotfl:

Yes - we are pretty fortunate. The disney cruise is usually our one guaranteed vacation a year. It's a fluke that I had these duplicate bookings (with on board discounts and credits). So I felt the need to use them! The Dream cruise will be our gold cruise!

Hey MrA - We usually just stick to our DVC / WDW (and free DME transportation) but have kicked around the idea of visiting Universal...when I was planning for this trip next week I tried to find an opening date for the new Harry Potter land or whatever it is but all they're saying so far is "opening spring 2010". Well, so it's SPRING but I don't think it's open yet and have not heard a definitive date for it. So I didn't make plans to rent a car or to go over there or anything. I suppose it will have to wait for our next trip to FL...whenever THAT may be I just don't know yet... We've been going 2-3 times per year the past few years but have decided to let our AP's expire this next time when they run out and are planning a beach vaca instead for this summer to save money...then of course NEXT year is the Med so I don't know if we'll try to slip another trip in or not. Maybe CarrianneB will fit it in amongst all of her cruises!!:goodvibes :confused3

I stayed at the Portofino Bay Hotel (Universal Resot - Highly Recomended) during December 19th - 21st when we got off the Disney Magic and they gave us an invitation for the opening on March 15th, 2010. So it should open very, very soon.

Too many people such as me, it's a very long weekend here. A whole 8 days
So to the :beach: it is !
The weather here has been a little crazy; here we have two mayor seasons: Sunny Hot and/or Rainy Hot. Well, it's been 6 months of very Sunny Hot, NO RAIN at all, so everything is very dry. So much that the most important hydroelectric Dam (it's called Guri) in the Amazone, something like Hoover Dam, is almost to a stop afecting electricity supply. It should have rained two months ago, but nothing ! Angel Falls are disiponting tourists because ther's an Angel but a very little Fall.

Anal Annie, how was you trip to FL ? Noted a post on you Dis on the cubes and what I think is the resort where you stayed where you compare suites I think; is that a Disney resort ?
Here is a question I asked on the Mom Panel at the Disney web page regarding teens that I would like to share with you all just in case anyone is in a similar situation:

Question: Hi Mom's, We have booked 7 day Med. Cruise for Aug 20th, 2011. We'll celebrate our daughters 18th birthday on the 21st. She will be 17 when boarding but 18 while sailing. Will she be able to enjoy both worlds? Teen and adult activities like Palo ?
Answer: Hi Manuel, Welcome to the Moms Panel, and how exciting that you've booked a birthday voyage with your daughter! Once she is 18, she is more than welcome to utilize all of the adult-only areas of the ship. Since she is boarding the ship while she is still 17, she can still be considered a "child" for programming purposes....so yes, it is the best of both worlds!
So, at least for us it's a really good answer. :cheer2:

Hey guys! Happy SPRING!!! Glad everyone seems to have had a nice spring break. Our trip to FL last week was WAAY too short (6 nights but we didn't get in until like midnight the first night so it FELT really short) with just 5 days really down there for the parks. The parks were JAM PACKED!! Beginning last Monday the Magic Kingdom was full to capacity by mid-morning each day!!:scared1: Closed to general admission for several hours each day until people started leaving in the late afternoon (after the parade). Since we have annual passes we could still get in but the lines for the monorail were LOOOONNGGG and the buses were full. By mid-day the standby waits for most attractions were over 100 minutes at just about everything! I even saw a post by somebody that said the wait for Toy Story Mania at DHS was 175 minutes the other day!! THAT is INSANE!! That's almost 3 HOURS! TSM is cute but it is NOT worth all that!!
MrA - we own DVC (Disney Vacation Club) so we always stay onsite in one of the DVC resorts...This is Disney's version of a timeshare. I guess you're referring to my comparison on my cruise thread of the Animal Kingdom DVC at Jambo House (the original building) to the new AK DVC building which is called Kidani Village.:confused3 We had stayed at Jambo House before and this trip we stayed over at Kidani...we decided we like Jambo House better overall. The newest member of my cruise meet is going this summer and is staying at Jambo House so she was wondering about them in comparison to each other.
Glad to hear your DD will able to have the best of both worlds on your cruise.:thumbsup2
Let's see if I can tell you how to post pictures...first you need to upload them to a 3rd party site like photobucket or Shutterfly or Snapfish or someplace where you order your pictures from online. Then you open the picture on that website that you want to post & right click on it which should open a dropdown box which shows the "properties" for the picture. Then you highlight & copy the info. in the "properties" and paste it into the DIS under the yellow icon that looks like a mountain with a sun in the top corner. It will most likely duplicate the "http//:" part so you will want to erase anything in the beginning that is a duplicate. It will paste the picture at the same size as what you have open on your 3rd party site - so if you click on a picture in a thumbnail size and copy the properties from there it will post it as a thumbnail here. So be sure to open the picture & right click on it OPENED in order to post it at a normal size. I always preview my post before I finish to be sure I copied it right.:thumbsup2

It's been a fabulous trip - and the best part is we visited with two of our former au pairs and their families. Definitely not the normal tourist experience! We are spending a few days in venice, and then heading home. But with a 23 hour layover in Paris we are going to check out DisneyParis.
It really is a special trip for us!
We have been lobbying for our friends to join us on the cruise as well!
Best
Carrianne
:thumbsup2 Sounds like a great time! I am soliciting scoop on Disneyland Paris BTW 'cuz we are planning to spend a few nights there pre-cruise next year!
MrA - your front page post looks good! Thanks for including me as a tag-along buddy!! Alls I can say is if we don't fill these ships by the time we sail we'd better get some free upgrades at the port when we check in for being such early bookers!!!!:rotfl:

I suggested a company on silicone wrist bands and placed it on the first post. I have no experience with this company, it was the first one I found when serched on Google. If anyone else knows another it's also welcomed.
Personaly I like the silicone wrist bans because you can wear them everywhere, they are water proof, and the one I sugest it glows in the dark, so it is visible 24 hours.
It's kind of fun when you are walking around the ship or in an shore excursion and you see someone wearing them you automatically identy yourself as part of the Disgroup and say hello, wave at each other or maybe share a meal. My experience was defenitily very positive. :grouphug:
Now, there's a catch ! I think it's a minimum order of 100. So we need more peeps and families; like 93 more ! :rolleyes1

I'm going to Quito, Ecuador at the end of this month. It's a pleasure/work/pleasure trip for 4 days. It's what we call Company 2010 Goal Alignment. We do this every year and it's a large group (about 150 persons/coworkers). For the exemption of one full morning it's all fun.
Never been to Quito, it's suposed to be a very nice city, very colonial; also very high. It's about 2850 metrs high or 9850 feet high.
Imagine 4 days with at least 150 :grouphug: people in your own party.
It's really fun ! :crowded: But we do this every year, always to a different place.

Thank you CarrianneB; I like visiting new places too; considering there are still so many to go too ! Personally I've never repeated a whole vacation unless it's a city like Orlando and going to the parks.
Say, hopefully you came back from Germany ? The airport stuation is really bad in Europe right now. Watching the news people are camping at the airports and no signs of getting better. :scared1:

Mr.A - hope you have a good trip to Ecuador! That sounds interesting.
Carrianne - you were lucky to get home b4 all this volcano mess! I think getting stuck for a day or two might be tolerable but a WEEK? I'd be BROKE!! (Not to mention tired of doing hand washing in a sink somewhere!:laundy:) I will certainly be sure to research trip insurance policies completely before I purchase it next year! I am waiting until I have our flights & hotels booked too so I can cover everything. I hope all the 4/24 folks due to sail on the Magic make it over to Barcelona OK this week. I'm sure they've been stressed watching all this unfold.

Hi, I´m back.
Large flight But Really Great time. Quito is a very nice city and a lot of history in it. It´s the worlds 3rd tallest capital city after one in Nepal and La Paz in Bolivia; but it´s the city closest to the Sun; it´s something to do with the world´s belly around the ecuator.
Lot´s of places to see and to enjoy, but by far the most Beautiful/Amaizing/overwhelming thing is this Church which in the inside is all made of Gold; yes, real 24 K Gold film covering everything exept the seats and the flor. They wont let you touch anything. It´s name is "La Iglesia de la Compańia de Jesus" (Jesus´s Company Church)
This is it:
http://www.google.co.ve/images?hl=es&q=iglesia+de+la+compa%C3%B1ia+quito&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=vL_gS4PADMP68AbSvKC3Bw&sa=X&**=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=6&ved=0CCwQsAQwBQ
Also, you can see from a mountain 4 diferent active volcanoes, but there are 7 of them.
How´s the Dis ? Any new cruisers, ummm, anywhere ! do we still have a cruise ?

Long week for me since nothing exiting or different happened, just the ususal monday through friday routine. :(
Lot's of rain though, big heavy drops and for almost all day all week; it won't be long for flooding news to come around. :cloud9:
This weekend just going to stay put and relax, maybe check the 2010 Med cruises to see other peeps comments on their mediterranean Magic. :surfweb: I keep seeing lots of stuff on "Pick Pocket's" so I will probably book shore excursions with everything prepaid on the Magic in order to minimize potential pockets picked and just carry petty cash (if there's such thing in Euros ) :lmao:
Well, we are 463 days away from sailing day and still two lonely Dis Cruisers only, so if it's ok with you CarrianeB I'll take the whole right side of the ship ! That is of course if no one else comes along ! ;)
463 Day's peep; that's only 15.4 months or if you prefer 1.26 year. Maybe for me sounds like a long time but it's really not for an Eurupean/Mediterranean Cruise Planning pixiedust:

We are going to see Roger Hodgson.
Sorry, what ? Who is he you say ? Well, thank you for asking.
Roger Hodgson is the lead singer for one of the greates rock band ever, it's actually my second best favorite band: THE SUPERTRAMP. Great songs like Dreamer, Take the Long Way Home, The Logical Song, Breakfast in America, etc. etc.
It's a simphonic-rock band with great piano plays.

Hey Hey!! :yay: Just popping by.... Sorry I've been a bad neighbor lately...my little PT temporary job working for the Census created a lot of erratic hours for me. I worked 2 or 3 hours in the mornings and a couple in the afternoon then 2-3 every evening. Just odd enough to keep me from getting anything else done!! I have been trying to work as close to full-time as possible while the hours were available...but sadly it is all about to end. I am on my last assignment binder and it is one that seems to have everybody home when I knock! If nobody's home when I go it really helps spread out the work and make it last. But no such luck with this one. I was hoping for another 3-4 weeks of work... I am crossing my fingers that I will get kept on for the next phase of the census. They will be starting a Quality Control phase next which will spot check all of this Enumeration phase. My Crew Leader said he would put in a good word for me as a recommendation but who knows if that will help. He didn't really know how this next phase would be hired out. I don't mind NOT WORKING for a couple of weeks if I know there's more work to come soon after. I just really was hoping to make a little more over the summer!!:rolleyes1 It has been nice to have a paycheck the past couple of weeks.
Well, I have some work to do outside and it's turning into a nice evening so I'll holler at ya'll again later!!
Ciao!

The world Cup Beguins tomorrow for one whole month. It is a wild month, specially here in Venezuela some games will be held at 2 pm, paralizing everything way into 4 pm and more, depending on who is playing or wining.
I'm rooting for Brazil, 5 times Champions, but do wish the best of luck to all of those other teams, at the end, only the best will win, so who ever they are they deserve it.

I am still working a screwy schedule although the work is about to dry up. It's just been enough to keep me VERY disorganized. DS's last day of school is next Wed. - other than swim practice / meets I have no plans for him so I need to figure out what to do with him. He has 1 2-week session of camp for the 1st 2 weeks of August then we have a week of vacation at the beach for the 3rd week of August...but that leaves 6 weeks that I need to "fill".:rolleyes1 Oh dear!!

My biggest concern (for now) with this particular cruise date is that it is during one of the hottest months and also that the locals are on vacation this entire month. How will the excursions turn out for us? I've read that most of the tourist locations are still open for business, but some close for holiday. I've also read that the locals swarm to the beaches, so a beach visit is out of the question, but do they also visit the touristy places too? Like The Vatican and Leaning Tower of Pisa? These are my two main excursions that we want to take. The rest is up in the air. The hot.... hot air...

They mention:
"Everyone cruising the Med will also enjoy two more Disney firsts—the debut of Walt Disney: The Dream Goes On, a unique stage production combining incredible Disney footage with live action; and exclusive Port Adventure Youth Activities. Hosted by Disney Youth Counselors, adults can shop, sightsee and relax while their kids are engaged in super cool cultural activities, like creating their very own frescoes and mosaics"
Among other things :yay:
Aditionally they are promoting Toy Story 3: The Musical also an exclusive for DCL. popcorn::
We'll see if they still have them a year from now
Also the World Cup is over and it was wan by Spain, do you imagine being in Barcelona at that time; every body took the street and I do beleive the party still goes on. Im sure we'll see some Dis reports mentioning this while embarking or disembarking at Barcelona.

I think I spoke too soon! :guilty: I spoke to the inlaws last night and they won't be able to do this date, so it looks like we are aiming for the Aug. 27th cruise. For one, it IS cheaper and two, because it works best with thier schedule. It just sucks cause our son will already be in school, so we'd have to pull him for a week and a half, and that isn't cool, I don't know what to do :confused3

A. Annie, I asked the inlaws if the 13th was a better date, and they said no  so.. they are looking into seeing if Aug. 27 is a better date for them. I am concerned about my son missing school, but he'll be in 2nd grade, so I hope it'll be okay.
I'm not joining the Aug. 27 thread till I know for 100% absolute sure, and deposits are made, cause I already feel attached to MRAven (especially after reading 8 pages of his posts). ~sigh

Now, now; let's not panic yet ! All our wishes are for everyone to have a Wanderfull Magical Mediterranean Cruise. Now there's still time and peeps will slowly fall in where they need to fall in. Meanwhile, let's all have a great 10 months planning time. Very soon we are going to be like this: :crowded:
Oh, and this is OUR thread, all I did was to create the first post. :flower3:
Now, should we start talking about FISH EXTENDERS ? Or is it too soon ? :hourglass I've been in two Disney Cruises and never participated in a Fish Extender group; so, I propose we choose a Fish Extender Captain (Not Me) in order to start organizing it.

I have some questions for all audiences.
I'm planning on buying some sort of internet browser device. This to take with me on the cruise and all over Europe. Now, what I need to know is the electricity voltage difference I have 110 vs 220, also which device is better, more confortable etc...
The only use for it is going to be dowloading pictures, E:mailing and web brosing.
I really like the i Pad, but it is really kind of expensive. My next choice is a mini note book; not so expensive but the screens are too small.
Now here's my question to you all: If you have the experience on Vacationing / Cruise and have taken some sort of comunication device Which is it and Was it helpfull or a burden to carry ?
Ok, ok, maybe is a wide open question but I really need your thoughts.:rotfl:
I have a laptop but that is for work. :surfweb:

Hey hey Mr. A!! :wave2: I am NOT the one to be asking about technical gadget things...I know the voltage in Europe is different so we'll be bringing a converter for land use...I assume the ship is and will remain 110 volts. And I can defnitely tell you that we will NOT be buying any of these fancy new gadgets that are all the rage these days...we just do not have that sort of disposable income... DH has a laptop (also from his work) that he will be bringing. I even already bought him one of those PacSafe laptop messenger bags to bring it in. He is the head of his little IT Dept. at his work so he could quite possibly need to check in at work a couple of times while we're gone. I will have withdraw if I don't pop into my email, Facebook or the DIS a time or two during vaca too...:rotfl2: I also want to be able to download pics if need be so that's another reason I want him to bring it. I currently have 2 memory cards for each of our cameras. I can only hold about 425 pics on each of my DSLR cards (so only about 850) and about 250 I think on each of my point & shoot cards...and then we recently got the new Kodak Play Sport video camera to use at DS's swim meets - I can take a lot of pics on it (so-so quality) and about 1 hr. of HD video with what we currently have for memory. I am sure I will want more memory cards all around. I can take a billion pics when I'm on a roll!! DH has one of those fancy Droid phones with the internet on it so I suppose we'll use that sometimes...
I know...not much help am I?!:rotfl:

OK MR. A - I am about to go on our vaca to Hilton Head Island, SC - leaving this evening & will be back LATE on the 21st... I am packed & the car is loaded....gonna eat some lunch then clean a bit & shower up. I can't believe how much crap I packed - but a week at the beach takes a lot of stuff -beach chairs, umbrella, towels & sunscreens...cooler...couple bags of groceries ETC. Good thing we only have 1 kid!! There's no room for another one!!:rotfl:
Maybe I'll have some luck this week and also pick up a peep for my cruise so that I will have someone to talk to when I get back!!:hyper2:

I think I may have solved my communication web surfing issue:
Considering I already own an iPod Touch I found this video proyector device which is great. It's about the same size of the iPod, it connects via USB and it proyects an image in HD upon any surface like a wall giving you the wide screen view; so, it's small to carry around, and it is not expensive, about US $ 250. Also it's battery rechargebla so it can be used almost any where; as long you project on a flat surface like a wall or similar it should be ok. A friend has it so I'm going to test run it and if it is practical enough I'll probably go this way.

Today is the One Year To Go Day
So, it's time to start to get a little bit more active here and putting some organization. Just think, in a year from now at this time you will be boarding the Disney Magic at the Barcelona Port. Now that really sonds great. And also, what it could be in a few hour our first meet, shall we say, Promenade Loung, at Coffee Shop by the adult pool, at the hidden deck or just in the Main Lobby.
Also Today:

We reached over 2000 visitors :wave2:
We reached over 150 posts on the Euro Magic Med Cruise Thread :disrocks:

We are back home now from Hilton Head...It was an OK vaca - not the BEST EVER but OK. It poured rain & stormed the first 2 days then when the sun DID come out we fried ourselves into a bit of sun poisoning!:rolleyes1 You would THINK we would learn how NOT to do that!! DS says nothing beats going to WDW!! Anyway, we got home late last night after a 10 hr. drive & today I am not moving as fast as I should. We have to go to a 1 yr old b-day party in a bit for our niece...they live an hour away so I need to get hopping to get her stuff wrapped.:rolleyes1

Great CarrianneB, that October cruise is right around the corner for you. I´m sure you are going to like it a lot. My favorite island was St Thomas; there´s a restaurant that oversees the bay where cruises dock, at that time I counted 25 different cruise ships in one single moment. It´s quite impressive to see so many ships together, and oviously the Disney Magic is the one that highlites the view (most cruise ships are white the DM is mostly Black). Also you get a lot of ship horn competitions which is a lot of fun. :goodvibes
Morning ... is this the place where I can apply to be FE Captain?!
Sorry, manners all over the place .. I'm Joa and I'll hopefully be sailing with you next year. I'll be in a cabin with my boyfriend Mick but with us will also be: my mum Jen (own cabin) and friends Emma and Kerry in another. Confirming soon are also my sister Mandi, her husband Mark and their children Robert (will be 10) and Isabelle (will be 8) .. it'll be their honeymoon!!
Like Lin and her family, my mum and I have just come back from the Dover-Barcelona Repo and had a great time .. ports were lovely but especially Gibraltar (like little England).
It will be my 4th DCL trip, Mick and my mums 3rd and our friends first! Mick and I are on the Maiden Voyage of the Dream in January so we'll come back and give you some pictures for sure.
So, back to my original question ... could I apply to be FE captain please? My middle name is 'organiser' and I promise to make it a good one!
Please count us in for Meets, wrist bands, FE and anything else!!
Love the website for the other Med cruise .. wow .. can we have one please??!!
Looking forward to meeting everyone .. many thanks to MRAven, Anal Annie and CarrianneB for keeping this thread up and running through the quiet times.

Are we going to stick with the Euro Magic Med 7 night cruise and the dates or do we want to choose a new one?
:banana::banana::banana:
Euro Magic Med was a name I gave the thread so it could be easier for peeps to find. :sail:
Personally I don't see it as the name to identify us. I sugest we find a name.
But more urgently is to set a dead line date to choos it so we can move on with arragenments like the web, wrist bands, etc.
So to answer your question with a question: when would that date be ? :confused3
DW, DD and I are kind of Disney Clasics and we had given it a thought.
We propose " Walt's Euro Mouseketeers " :mickeyjum
But I'm sure there are lot's of other sugestions :yay:

Oh and my DD Lydia will be 13 when we sail, and we will be in room 5520 :thumbsup2 Thanks for updating our info :thumbsup2
First page updated but still need info on dinner arrangements. :stir:
I urge everyone to take a quick look to see if it's correct and/or what is missing ;) Our FE Captaind Bats and all around organizers will need this info as accurate as possible. :rolleyes1

Great time range, although there are lots of families still thinking about it (going on the cruise) shall we say October 30th (two more weekend) as the date to finally propose a name for the group then we would have to go on a voting process for it.
Florida_Mel (Web Master Planner pixiedust:) How would this dates affect your web designing ? Do you need a name to beguin ?
Bats (FE Captain :cheer2:) are we in track ? Is it too soon ?

I just wanted to say Hi, as I am one of those who is pondering over what to do. I think Florida will be out of our reach next year, so this is a cheaper option, as the flights are around $2500 cheaper! I've sent off to Dreams for a quote and I am awaiting a reply.
Have any of you done a Europe Cruise before?

Med cruise was fab ... we all (Lynne, me and Mel) live in the UK so it was dead easy to get to ... we departed from Dover which is only 30 mins from my house! :cool1:
We visited, Cherbourg, France ... Lisbon, Portugal ... Cadiz, Vigo and Barcelona, Spain and also Gibraltar which belongs to the UK (although Spain tries to claim it every now and again!):sad2:
Having only done a short cruise before, our 8 night was fantastic ... loads more time to bimble (wander), enjoy the ship, sunbathe by that lovely adult pool, chillax in Cove Cafe and see more shows. The ports were great but I think I'd look at organising my own this time as the Disney ones are sooo expensive! Don't get me wrong, the tour we did with Disney was very well organised, no problems at all, just expensive. :scared1:
We're confirming our ressies tomorrow ... Mandi and Mark were a little unsure but they're confirmed now so they'll be celebrating their honeymoon.
Can't wait to meet everybody .. looking forward to having our own personal website .. and love the name of Euro Mouseketeers!!! :thumbsup2

Have you been standing right next to it when it goes off ? It's really loud and even your clothes vibrate. I highly recomend it :goodvibes They usually play it when leaving any port or when another ship is close by, that's when the horn blowing competition takes place. Please add us, me Heather, DH Andrew and DS Matthew who will be 12. (Scarecrow on the DIBB!). Bit the bullett and booked. It's a secret at the mo, don't know for how long though with the amount of time I spend on here and the DIBB.
I'm interested in joining in as much as possible. Could someone explain the FE thing. I've figured out the bit that you hang it on your door and people leave pressies and you leave pressies in theirs, but what sort of gifts do you buy?
The question is, is 11 months enough time to read everything I need to and know what tourguide heather is doing? I know my new friends will help.

we are interested in meets,wristbands...t-shirt graphics :)..but might give the FE a miss this time...as we have to fly on a budget airline with limited baggage allowance and are participating in the DIBB one:rolleyes1

Today I came upon this wanderfull Med Cruise trip report that I really think you should read. I must say thank you to jd99 (Jeff & Family) who kindly shared their experience with all of us.
This trip report is very explicit and specially funny (The Curse of Row 13), and best of all it really gives you a good pre-view of shore excursions to be. I call it Heads Up and/or Eye Opener.
This trip report, with great pictures too, referes to the recent one on Aug 7th, 2010 so it really relates to us; with just one difference, Jeff's cruise was an 11 nighter. ;)
Enjoy: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2538555&page=2

Considering you probably don't want to wait I foun some information (for you and for me since this is my first FE). Click on the link and for sure it will give you a much better idea. None the less, keep them comming (questions) if you need them. Also rules of a Fish Extender Exchange may change from cruise to cruise. :fish:

Try this too: Fish Extender thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607)
It's quite lengthy but has loads of info in it :cool1:

I was checking what we have so far on the head count and I was suprised to how cruisers were split by age range.
As you can see, The Real Children of The Magic are us; the Adults, not by little but by far.
So I came to a conclusion:
We The Adults are using the children as an excuse to come to the Disney Cruises ! :lmao:
Crusers/Peeps: 38 PAX
Adults: 23 - Teens: 5 - Children: 10
01- CarrianneB:............................4 PAX - DH, and DS (11) and DS (9) @ sailing time
02- MRAven:................................3 PAX - Manny, DW Katty, DD Liliam (17) @ sailing time
03- Deeds...................................4 PAX - Deborah DH Esteve, DD Rachel (10) DS Ben (8)
04- lindylou2_2002........................4 PAX - DH, DD (8), DD (6)
05- bats (Joa):............................2 PAX - Joa & Mike
06- Joa´s Mom:...........................1 PAX - Jen
07- Jen's Friends..........................2 PAX - Emma and Kerry
08- Joa´s Sister: .........................4 PAX - Mindi, Mark, DS (10), DD (8) @ sailing time
09- Florida_Mel: ..........................3 PAX - Mel, DH Leigh, DD Lydia (12)
10- Vron:....................................4 PAX - Veronica, DH Andy, DD Beth (14), Beth's BF Becky (14)
11- Heatherbelle:.........................3 PAX - Heather, DH Andrew, DS Mathew (12)
12- Maza:...................................4 PAX - Maria, DH Dave (FB), DD Juli (17), DD Lucie (15)
So I came to a conclusion:
We The Adults are using the children as an excuse to come to the Disney Cruises ! :lmao:
not me:rolleyes1 I would shake those suckers off in a heartbeat...if only they would let us!
we are planning a 'loan' transatlantic the year after...no kids, just us. Just doesnt work with the kids holidays you see...:cool1:

Hi
Hi and welcome onboard Heather :thumbsup2
I see you have no ticker! If you would like one all you have to do is this:
Go to User CP (on the red line at the top of the page)
Choose Edit Signature from the list on the left
Scroll down the page and you will see a large blue box with Dis tickers - click on this and fill in your dates etc and it will then save to your signature :cool1:

Hi Mel
I haven't put my ticker on, in case my DS sees it. He doesn't know about the planned trip yet, and I may decide not to tell him, until we get to Barca.

I've just read the curse of row 13 trip report. It put me booking the DCL trips I have to say.
Anyway, for those of my American friends on here, you may not have seen this video trip report. It's great and it inspired me to book the cruise. The music brings back to many happy memories of my visits to WDW.

Eleven Months to Go Day:
Today we are at exactly eleven months to go to be boarding The Magic to start this wanderfull cruise. Some of us already a few days in Barcelona some arriving today. And in just a few hours meeting each other for the first time or just saying hi to old cruising friends.
So much to decide, so much to do, so much to buy, and all in just eleven months...
- Finish Paying for the cruise
- Decide which air itinerary to take
- Decide which Hotel to take before and after the cruise
- Decide which shore excursions will be the best
- Buying Fish Extender Stuff
- Buying one full suitcase for DW's Euro/Cruise wear
- Buying one full suitcase for DD's Euro/Cruise wear
- Buying me something new to wear (if there's money left)
- Buying more Fish Extender stuff
- Many new frinds to meet
So, much to do
So mucht to decide
So much to buy,
But boy, do I wish it was today....

Westbound. there are a couple of us 'Euro Mousekeeters' planning on doing it. The price is amazing for 14 nights, and with only one way airfare for 2
( not 4), should be good:banana:
Just need to work out a family holiday too, although our eldest will be off to Uni that year, and is planning ( at the moment) to do Camp America for the summer....so just the youngest to appease :rolleyes1

Found a couple of hotels in Barcelona that might be appealing to all of us:
Hotel Dante (Best Western) good location.
Hotel Barmoral is very good located and it also has great reviews
And then there's the Hotel The Majestic: I really, really like this Hotel. So I'm going to push it to stay here for four nights before the cruise. pixiedust:

Wow these are wanderfull. The Grand Marina by the beach probably gives you the service of just "hop" in the Magic. :snooty:
And with the apartments, well they could be a problem for me; I might not want to move out ! They are so nice, who would want to leave them. :lmao:

I have a little confusion on the Naples Port Adventure and would like for some one to help me out:
On the DCL web page for Naples they offer:
Pompei, Sorrento and Capri
Pompei, Sorrento and Capri for Adults only
Pompei, Sorrento and Capri for Families
All three have exactly the same itinerary; exept for the family one which stops at a Cameo Factory which I don't care much for it.
All three cost exactly the same for adults: US $ 269
My confusion is why the three offerings ? Is there are difference in the itinerary that is not shown on the adventure description ? Is it the lunch that may or may not include a glass of wine ? Where's the catch ?
:confused3

OK, there's no catck ! And also it's not the wine (nor quelity nor quantity)
Aparently, what I was able to digg out from several trip reports and/or several sites in the internet are this following mayor reasons:
- The level of the speech from the tour guides may vary according to the audience. In an all adult audience they may broaden the information on what tipe of ingridients were used to make a mozaic or a fresco. When in a family tour they would just mention who made it (this is an example)
- Another reason is the speed of the tour it self. In an all adult audience it usually moves faster.
- Also aparently in Pompei there are sculptures and paintings that may be a little too expresive on how humans reproduce, so be aware of this little detail.
Well, I guess theiy are good enough reasons for me :rolleyes1
