:yay: Glad you're here! I didn't do a PTR for September so you didn't miss anything  Last year Caitlin and I did PTR and TR for our May trip and it just didn't feel right doing a PTR without her so I skipped that. I wasn't even going to do a TR for Sept but she and Dale talked me into it (and I'm glad they did) She's been really anxious to get this started so it's time for some fun :goodvibes
Caitlin -
What a wonderful start to your PTR! I really enjoyed reading all about your guys, even though I feel like I already know you from your previous TRs. I am so glad you get to participate in this trip. I know you hated to miss the anniversary trip, but school comes first!
Great introduction pics.
And Dawn -
I think that is great the you can get FP's for your whole group. Do you think I still have time to sign up and get my credit before May?????? The closest site to me is the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill. My marching band plays a concert there every year. I work in a hospital, but this is different. Chronic = Pretty depressing. Still - for group FP's? hmmmmmmmmm!

Hi Mary Ellen!:wave2: So glad you're joining us again!
You're so right that Caitlin hated missing out in Sept but school does come first with her! In fact, I'm proud to say that she had a DRUM ROLL PLEASE 4.0 last semester! She is in the second half of her sophomore year and to date has had all A's and 1 B+! :cheer2: Yep, we're very proud!
I am sure you can still sign up as long as the site you want, in your case the hospital, is still accepting volunteers. When I checked out the site on Jan.1st I chose a couple I was interested in but they didn't pan out so we picked a different one yesterday. A few places (mostly Habitat for Humanity) already had all their volunteers. After you sign up on Disney's site the local org. emails you and sets up your volunteer date. You then check back with Disney after you volunteer and then they send you a voucher you take to Disney and exchange it for a ticket or FP. So you should definitely have time to get it done by May! Let me know what you end up doing!

Thank you! I know it was so hard deciding what to write about everyone since we have our avid readers who already know us :flower3: I am so excited about this trip and rub it in my parents faces that I am waiting the longest to go back ;) I am very happy they got some time away together though so I am not too bitter ;)

Count me in!
In fact, we need to rely on your reviews as we're planning X's 4th Birthday.
We're heading out in Feb 2011 and we need a preview of the Wizarding World!
So make sure you take lots of pics and tell us ALL about it!!
Don't worry - it'll be a mostly WDW trip but we figured we can spare one day at the "other park."
I also want DS7 to get a chance to ride Spider-Man!!

Hi Mike! Glad you are joining us again! We too plan to take just 1 day to see Islands of Adventure. All 3 of us read the whole Harry Potter series so the Wizarding World is a must-do! That was one of the reasons we booked Bounceback instead of going just in the spring. We wanted to make sure that the WW would be open! We will take lots and lots of pics! In 2008 we went to IOA and Dale and Caitlin loved the Spiderman ride!

Souds great!
I've done IOA twice - once way back when in 2001 and then again last year during my conference (pics on the way).
Other than Spider-Man, I was not very impressed.
However, I am too looking forward to the Wizarding World.
Stacey and I have read all the books already (and seen the movies).
So now we have a year to make sure our oldest reads the books.
And we told him he can't watch the movie until he reads the book. ;)

So yesterday my mom and I did some shopping and since we got some good deals, and did Disney related shopping, I thought our equally Disney obsessed friends would appreciate seeing our purchases :)
We spent most of the day shopping around for the perfect present for one very special MAW child named Piper :goodvibes (sorry can't post the pics it has to be a surprise for her and her mom :thumbsup2)
So since we were in the Disney mood we stopped by Hallmark who had 75% off Christmas (SCORE!) and picked up some more ornaments for our Disney tree
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr5/dawnbu40/disboard002.jpg
I was so excited about the NBC ornament!!
We couldn't find what we were looking for at our closest mall so we headed out to the only mall in our area that still has a Disney store. We used to have 3 in our immediate area but they closed them all and now the only one left is about 20 miles away  When we got there we found they were having a sale though :cool1: I got a t shirt for vacation (nothing like an early start :lmao:)
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr5/dawnbu40/disboard004.jpg
and we had to pick up some of our favorite shopping bags! Aren't the new designs cute?!
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr5/dawnbu40/disboard003-1.jpg
and we found a gift for Piper :) Hope she likes it!
Our final stop was JoAnne's where we picked up no sew blanket kits to work on Saturday, for our "Give a Day Get a Day" project :) And yes, they were on sale too :thumbsup2
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr5/dawnbu40/001.jpg
We will be working on the blankets Saturday so be on the look out for an update :thumbsup2

I'm here, but now I have a 4 yr old assistant who is verrrry interested in your recent purchases! ;) She recognized Tiana as the "surprise movie" we took her to on Cmas day. And, she even recognized the Toy Story crew. Hurray for Movie Night success!
So your Give a Day choices have changed? I looked on Jan 2nd and there was almost nothing in my area and now there are more...so I guess the site is changing every day? I haven't seen any Project Linus or MAW opportunities here but hopefully the ones I inquired about will work out. Can't wait to see what you guys do with all that fabric!

Cute Ornaments , I have quite the collection of Hallmark ornaments my self but there not all Disney :)
The shirt and bags are adorable , I so miss having a Disney Store close also , when we lived in Maryland we had one in our Mall but right before we moved to NC it closed and now that we live here in NC the closest store is 3 hours way :(
Love the fabric for the blankets , can't wait to see the finished products !

Aw I am glad your assistant liked our purchases!
MAW got back to us but the only event we could help with was a hockey game fundraiser and in order to work at that we would have had to fill out a ton of paper work so we went with the Linus project.
All of that fabric= a lot of work :lmao: I started on one of the blankets this morning and I am not even close to being done yet!

Aw I am sorry about the Disney store. We used to have one really close to us but they took it down a while ago so the closest one is around 20 minutes away :sad1:
I hope they turn out well

Belle is the best princess :) Although it took a while for Beauty and the Beast to grow on me because when I was little I always thought Belle should have ended up with Gaston since he was cuter :lmao:
You need to get Jasmine to sign up for the DIS!
I am so glad you two enjoyed Wolfgang Pucks! I am looking forward to going back too! It's been way too long!

Hi MaryEllen! You know we love a bargain so we couldn't pass up Disney ornaments at 75% off :rotfl: We had already bought several at half off so our tree should be really filled next year :) The blanket making went pretty well and after I get some pics of the finished product I will update

The other day I read that today is Prince Caspian's last day at DHS. Since he made such a good impression on us :lovestruc I thought it was only fitting to give him a proper "farewell".
The first time we visited the handsome prince was last December on our "girl's trip" with my mom. My mom has a bad ankle, and ended up spending that trip in a wheelchair, and trying to push her into Caspian's forest was quite an adventure in and of itself  Anyway, once we finally made our way into his forest and looked up at him it was love at first sight for 3 generations  He was very soft spoken and charming and all around dreamy! Unfortunately, the computer that held pics of that trip died and so I don't have any pics of that meeting
We were however, lucky enough to meet Caspian again last May. He was just as charming as we remembered although Dale seemed oblivious to his charm :rotfl: (Caitlin wants me to tell you that it was extremely hot that day and her hair usually looks much better )
Some memories of Prince Caspian....

I feel bad to admit it but I never read the books :sad2: Idk why but when it came to this series I was just a movie person
Thank you :) I am not looking forward to September just for the frizzy hair and sweaty non make up look :rotfl:

I didn't even realize I was making such a goofy expression :lmao:
Also one thing my my mom forgot to mention was after we saw a preview for the Prince of Persia movie who is played by Jake Gyllenhaal :lovestruc I said I hope they put him at DHS! Next thing ya know Prince Caspian is leaving maybe I will get my wish after all....

So yesterday was the day we were "supposed" to make our blankets for the Linus Project. I say "supposed to" because my overly ambitious daughter made hers on Wednesday. This was beneficial though because we had never tried making no-sew blankets before and it was nice that someone knew what we were doing :lmao: (plus we only had to make 2)
So what is Project Linus?
We were completely unfamiliar with the organization before seeing it as a volunteer opportunity on Disney's "Give a Day" website. I went to their website and this is what I found....
According to their website, since 1995 over 3 million blankets have been made for and given to kids who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. Pretty cool huh?!
How Project Linus Started
On Christmas Eve, 1995, an article titled “Joy to the World” appeared in Parade Magazine. It was written by Pulitzer Prize winning photo-journalist, Eddie Adams. Part of the article featured a petite, downy haired child. She had been going through intensive chemotherapy and stated that her security blanket helped her get through the treatments. After reading the article, Karen Loucks decided to provide homemade security blankets to Denver’s Rocky Mountain Children’s Cancer Center, and Project Linus was born.
Their website gives instructions for 2 different kinds of no-sew blankets. We chose the style that has 2 layers of fleece so they would be "extra cozy". We found it was much more economical to purchase the kits at JoAnne's,rather than the fleece from the bolt, because the kits were on sale half off.
Here are some pics of our handiwork....
a work in progress
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr5/dawnbu40/blaneys142.jpg
the finished products
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr5/dawnbu40/blankets009.jpg
Caitlin sat down for a pic and Riley had to get in on the act
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr5/dawnbu40/blankets005.jpg
then Riley decided it was time for a little smooch :rotfl:
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr5/dawnbu40/blankets004.jpg
So there you have it. We have completed our service project for the Disney program and now just have to arrange to deliver the blankets. The drop off is near Caitlin's college campus (it's a 20 minute commute) so we'll arrange for her to deliver them on a day she has classes. It appears the "Give a Day" program is going to be a huge success because when I heard from the local Project Linus they had already heard from 600+ families! :cool1: I am so looking forward to hearing just how many worthwhile causes benefit from Disney's promotion of volunteerism! :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing what Project Linus is all about!! There is nothing more heartbreaking than a sick child, my girlfriend lost her daughter when she was just over a month old, then 8 months later her nephew passed away at the age of 6 from a brain tumor. My heart ached for both Lynn and Leanne when they lost their children.
Taking time out of our busy schedules to do for others is the best feeling in the world isn't it? Great job you guys. The pictures are beautiful...love the smooching one:lmao:

How awful for your friend. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. Two years ago a family from our church lost a 3 month old. That was the most heart-wrenching funeral I have ever attended.
On a lighter note....we do love volunteering! In fact Caitlin was VP of Philanthropy for her student org until just being elected President :cool1: As a family we do the Relay for Life and Caitlin is also mentoring new teams and working with the principal of her old high school trying to get them onboard :)
As for Riley it was so funny how she wanted to jump in the picture and then kissed Caitlin! :rotfl2:

Thank you!
We actually went out today and got some supplies so we can make a blanket to auction off for the Relay for Life (since it's for the American Cancer Society we bought fabric with the breast cancer ribbon on it) I also bought some fabric so I can make my own Winnie the Pooh blanket :)
Riley is my fur baby and she always makes me crack up. It was cute after we took the picture my mom decided I should switch poses so she said "Pose" and Riley rolled onto her back and put her paws up in the air

Very cool that you're continuing with the blankets! And too funny about Riley striking a pose when your Mom said that . I grew up with a dog and a cat, (both lived around 20 yrs) and my mom has always had a dog since then as well, it's hard now sometimes not having a furbaby, but Piper's health is more important. I keep thinking one day I'm just going to say the **** with it and get one anyway, just making sure it's a hypoallergenic breed, but I know I won't do it. Okay, sorry for the hijack! Pooh is one of my favorites (classic pooh anyway), but Piper is so over him! I don't know what to do about that girl sometimes! *laughing*

Pets are great (albeit a lot of extra work!) but keeping her healthy is your top job so it's totally understandable! We should actually have a hypoallergenic breed since Dale has asthma but we that hasn't happened :rolleyes1
It seems like kids go through a phase where characters like Pooh become too baby-ish to them but then they hit the teen years and they become cool again  so just give her a couple years and she'll be a fan again :)

I know a couple posts ago we told you how Disney closed our closest stores and now we have to drive about 20 minutes to get to one....Well, last night I got an email from the Disney Store informing us that they are closing that store  I am so bummed! When we go there we are at least able to get a little of that "Disney feel" and now it's leaving :sad2: (I also like to go there before our trips and get Disney Dollars) They suggested we visit their other Michigan location that is over an hour away! That's not gonna happen. I do plan to call them once a week and check on the current % off so we can stock up before they leave ;)
In other Disney news-I know several of you are thinking of doing the "Give a Day" volunteering. I just saw a posting on the Disney website of a special "celebration" pin you can pick up that says something to the effect of "Celebrating Voluntearing". Wearing the celebration pins is fun and attracts special attention from the CMs so if you aren't celebrating anything else this would be a fun thing to celebrate.:) I'm sure we will be getting those!

Sorry to hear that a second Disney store in your area is closing :( It does however save me a lot of money not having one close any longer , cause I'm not much of an online shopper either , so then in turn I get to save all my money I would have spent at the store throughout the year on my actual trip :)
How cool that you will be able to get a celebrate button for volunteering :thumbsup2

Hi Dawn and Caitlin! Very cool that Disney is doing the pins for volunteering..sorry your Disney store is closing though, that bites! On the other hand..you may be able to get some great deals right before it does..lol. I also wanted to thank you again for the Big Give pressies..Piper uses the message board on a daily basis, and right now is using it for another Disney countdown..ie.. 50 Days 'til Disney! For anyone that didn't catch it on my thread, here are a couple of pics of the wonderful things Dawn and Caitlin sent for Piper and I...

We received the same email as our local Disney store is closing.
I'm so bummed as this was a great place to just wander into and get a smile on your face.
I was extremely excited when I heard of the new renovations coming to the Disney Stores with RFID technology and merchandise that reacts to things in the stores.
But apparently we won't get to experience it.

Bummer about the TWO stores closing!!! Our closest malls are both about 45 mins away and it's one of the harder parts of living in the boonies for me. I get an email about a good sale and I know I'm not going to make a trip just to browse. I do take advantage of Phoebe's therapy and doc appts though, because they are "in town" so I always plan side trips while we're up there. Maybe they will reduce their online shipping charges? Or up their supplies in Target and WalMart type stores?

Don't the new stores sound amazing?! You know with Steve Jobs involved they will be incredible! I haven't really heard though if they are closing some and then re-doing the existing ones or opening more stores? I'm sure when they are finished though it will be worth a special trip to check em out!

45 minutes from a mall? :scared1: That would drive us crazy :rotfl: Disney is offering a 15% discount, on purchases over $50 and free shipping on those purchases, but I'm not a fan of shopping online. Well unless the bargain is too good to refuse ;)

So far we have shared our shopping, Big Give and blanket making experiences with you but we haven't done too much trip planning. Our adr date isn't until March but we did decided on a special experience that Caitlin is going to try.
Caitlin has wanted to try a Segway tour for a long time but I always thought it was on the pricey side. I just learned though that there is another Segway "tour". Everyday at 11:30 they offer a class called "Simply Segway" in Epcot. The experience lasts an hour. The first half hour is a video and training on how to use the Segway. The second half hour is spent riding around the rose garden. I like that while she is on the Segway I can be snapping pics of her. The other Segway class is before the park opens so pics wouldn't be possible. I also like the price. It is normally $35 but since we have AAA it's only $30 :thumbsup2 (you know I love a bargain ;)) Caitlin had hoped her dad would join her for the class but he said he'd rather spend his $30 on Grey Goose Slushies :lmao:
So there you have it. The first of our Sept plans.

Oh fun! I've never tried those either. They look like they require balance. I LOVE that they are doing it in the rose garden. Gorgeous backdrop!!!
Hmmmmmm.....grey goose slushies.......simply segway????:confused3 That's a tough decision. I could go either way on that one!
ps..... I noticed that you just said you joined AAA. For what its worth, I have a great AAA agent that I use when I'm not booking DVC or when I need a night on either side. If you ever need a really good AAA agent, pm me and I will give you her name. She is totally up to date on all the codes and discounts. Plus, if you decide to get the AAA visa you will earn rebate certificates that can be used towards trips and tickets.

When Caitlin turns 21 she'll understand completely why her dad choose grey goose slushies over segway...it will only take one and I'm sure she'll be no different than the rest of us, she'll be hooked. I've already warned the kids that I will be stopping for at least 2 when we're there.:lmao:

I just found your PTR, I was drawn in with your mention of the HP portion of your trip. We're going in October so we're just a little behind you. Haven't decided if we're going to Universal, but will love to read about your plans. I was just going to lurk but your mention of the Segway Tours and I had to jump in. We did the World Showcase Tour in May and we LOVED it. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to balance and would spend a lot of time falling off. It is amazingly easy to get used to how it works. The only thing that I will caution you about is that only getting to tour around for a half hour will just seem really short. I guess that will just give you something to plan on doing on your next trip. I would suggest that both you and your husband try the Segways out at Innoventions. You can do a test run completely inside on the training course. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can.

I am so excited about the new HP world!:wizard: Also the last time we went we found out our dog was injured while we were at the Studios portion so we didn't get to explore it as much as I would have liked. I am looking forward to trying it out again. I have wanted to do the Epcot segway tour but I am the only one in my family that wants to do it so we thought with this tour my mom can take pictures and my dad can drink grey goose slushies. :lmao:

I was just reading an article on upcoming Disney rehabs and the overhaul of Fantasyland and I read they aren't closing Toon Town til "Fall 2010". I'm not a huge fan of the area but I am hoping they don't close it until after our trip. It's been there Caitlin's whole life so I'd like her to see it one last time.
In other rehab news..... I am so excited to hear that Muppetvision is getting a refurb! I read they are also upgrading the theater to Disney Digital. So even if they don't get a new movie, the old one should look a lot better! :thumbsup2 The article I read didn't have a date for this so I'm crossing my fingers it's done by September::yes::

I did think of you two when I read the castle is being worked on and may have scaffolding (etc) on it until the end of March  I was paying attention to March because Caitlin and I have...ssshh this is a secret....:rolleyes1 we have been looking at taking a trip for her Spring Break. She is off the first week of March and Caitlin was super excited when she realized that overlaps with your trip. HOWEVER....It all depends on our taxes. Congrats Catlin on booking the Segway class , sounds like it will be a lot of fun for you & the family both ! I would probably be just like your Mom and do the picture taking , not to much on the Segway or drinking . lol
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will keep Town-hall & Toontown open just a bit longer also . If and when we do book our trip I was planning for the dates to be September 2-5 or 2-7 2010 . It would be nice to see everything one last time before the changes . I am still very excited for everything to change though too !

Dale is in favor of it and my mom is up for it so it's looking pretty good ;)
I saw some recent pictures and there is already a big crane behind the castle but I read they take it down at night for Wishes. It said they are taking down the lights and then they have to repaint/refurb a lot of the "bricks". So I'm afraid the castle might not be as pretty as usual in your pics. But there are supposed to be some angles you can shoot from and avoid the crane :thumbsup2

I think frequent visits become an addiction! Good morning! :wave2: I am also a HP fan, although I didn't grow up with Harry since I'm a bit older than him ;) but I am dying to go to the WW! we have had a special HP exhibition at a nearby Museum here and I loved seeing everything. You could see the Hogwart's Express, get "sorted" by the hat, step into Hagrid's Hut, see all the costumes, etc. It was fantastic. I can only imagine how I'd be at the new WW! That will have to be our next trip, I guess.
I'll definitely keep posting since I'm addicted to the DIS and FB, so I am online whenever I get the chance! :lmao: I love PTRs and TRs, always gets me excited for future trips and gives me more ideas. It's fun to share the "magic" with other people who feel the same.

A beach trip? And skipping Disney?!  We're actually thinking of trying the Disney cruise next year.( I think 2011 would be a good time to try something new since Fantasyland will be all torn up)
WOOHOO for TWO TRIPS and a DISmeet!!!:cool1: I'm nervous for our taxes...first full year of owning a house and hoping the interest will work out well for us. Yes, we need a "fingers crossed" smiley. :thumbsup2
We have gotten spoiled over the last few years getting 2 trips a year. I think we might need an intervention :lmao:
My fingers are crossed that the tax man is good to you :goodvibes

Our trip is officially booked!!!!!
Now the cast of characters for this trip include my mom and I and my grandma
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr5/dawnbu40/16348_1220098755677_1625176214_5567.jpg
This is my grandma with her dog Tinkerbell. Her last trip was in 08 when she went with my mom and I for Christmas time.
Favorite Character- Belle
Favorite Movie- Beauty and the Beast
We had a hard time deciding on a value resort this trip. My grandma and I have always loved Beauty and the Beast and have seen the stage show 2 times . She took me for my 5th birthday to see it in Toronto then we saw it again when I was 7 in Detroit. Due to this we weren't sure if we wanted to stay at All Star Music in the Broadway section which has all of the Beauty and the Beast stuff or if we wanted to stay at Pop Century which is a favorite of many Disers. I felt that if we weren't put in the Broadway section I wouldn't want to stay at ASMu so we decided on POP.
For this trip we will be celebrating my 4.0 and being on the Dean
s List :woohoo:
Our official dates are March 3rd-8th :yay:
We already made our ADRs so our day plans will be posted one by one starting this week :dance3:

Woohoo for being booked, and staying at Pop..it always looks like a very fun resort to me on the TRs. :goodvibes: I read about your Grandma and my mouth dropped open a bit..our first family dog was a "Tinkerbell"..a black toy poodle, and we had her for about 18 years! I can't wait to see your ADRs! popcorn::

We have a great new TA who booked the trip for us this morning ;)
As you know Dale and I stayed there in Sept. and we were really pleased with it. Since the crowd predictions are low for that week (and we are trying to do a budget friendly trip) I didn't hesitate to stay there again.
18 years? Wow that is an incredibly long life for a dog!
My mom's dog is her baby. When we were growing up we never had pets but 2 years ago my mom saw Tink and fell in :lovestruc and had to have her. Now, she is a total "dog person".
She is also one of the best grandma's around always keeping up with her 3 grandkids interests and being their biggest fan. Caitlin is the oldest and has never lived more then 10 minutes from her so they have had a very close relationship!
Adrs will be coming up :)

I had just signed onto Facebook when I read that you had booked...so I signed out of Facebook and got right over here. Sounds wonderful!!! How cute is Grandma:cutie:
I completely understand about wanting to stay in the Broadway section at ASMu..we stayed there in 2007 and 2008. Belle and the movie are both my favorites. Jasmine drives me to work every morning and then carries onto school and we pass about 4 bridal salons along the way and in the shop where she bought her grad dress they have a "Belle" dress in the window!! She said "Oh mom, that dress is so you". She's right, if I was graduating, I would buy it hands down.....:confused3
Caitlin....:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:on 4.0 AND the Deans list.....that is terrific, more than terrific, can't think of a word right now but WOW...good for you. That is definitely a reason to celebrate.
Disney Cruise eh??? I think I would prefer that to a week or two at the beach...I'm afraid of being bored after the first day:lmao:

Sounds like it's going to be an awesome girls only trip w/ a great Dismeet , can't wait for all the details !

I love the Belle dress story! The dress I wore to prom was poofy and gold and was meant to look like Belle's dress :) For my graduation party the center pieces had two picture frames and in one was me in my Halloween costume which was Belle's dress from 1st grade and then in the other was me in my prom dress :cutie:
Thank you!!!!!
My mom said no Disney trips next year then my dad and I reacted like :lmao::rotfl2: so we are leaning towards a cruise :cloud9: I would love to be at Disney and then at the beach

I am so psyched about the crowd predictions that week, that was one of the reasons I gave them the date window that I did! My mom has a teacup poodle now that is just over a year old, and she's the same way, the dog is her baby! She even will cook for it..well..she was..then I got some refrigerated dog food (yes..refrigerated!) and Lil Bit loooooves it, so now the cooking doesn't happen as often, LOL. Gram is the same way with Piper and my niece, growing up we lived in VA and the grands all lived in ME, and we were close, but nothing like Piper and Gram..I love that she has that bond! Very cool that we're both going to have 3 generations of girls on the trip! I sent Caitlin a pm about meeting up, but I'll go back and copy you in..I was very excited!

How fun! It's nice to meet you, grandma. :) You guys are making me seriously consider a girls' trip down the line. My mom lives for my kids (well, those *other* grandkids, too) but has been busy caring for her parents this past year. Maybe in a year or two things will be less stressful and we'll take a trip. I'm excited to read about yours!

We really liked Pop in Sept so I'm hoping I feel that way again! How old is your little one? I will not be trying the cheesecake it does not appeal to me at all but Caitlin is really looking forward to it!
As for the 4.0, Caitlin has completed 4 semesters of college (she even went in the summer) and has made the Dean's List each time! And 3 of the 4 semesters she's had a 4.0 (1 darn B+ spoiled it last winter )Pretty obvious how proud we are of her, isn't it? ;)

Yesterday, I had Caitlin call Disney to book her Segway tour. I figured it would be more comfortable to take it in March vs the heat of September so she called and of course got an uninformed CM. The CM told her that the class did not involve riding the Segway. So Caitlin said "thank you but no thank you" and hung up. When she told me about the conversation I told her I had read a blog about the class and the writer was told the same thing. He knew it was wrong and booked the class anyway. He was right and enjoyed his 30minute tour of the rose garden. Caitlin decided to stick with her decision to not book.
She was also told ONLY people who use AAA travel agents can get any AAA discounts on tours. I always think about doing the different tours so I was kind of mad that they took away this discount to folks who have AAA cards. I know in the past the AAAcard got you the discount regardless of how you booked the trip.
About 7 years ago we did the "Family Magic" tour and got the AAA discount. That tour by the way, is awesome! If you have kiddos it is really fun and very reasonably priced! It's basically a scavenger hunt through the MK, in search of Peter Pan, but there are lots of fun and games along the way! At the end you meet Peter and he goes on a ride with the whole group. On ours we all rode IASW and Caitlin was lucky enough to sit next to him. He chatted incessantly the whole way! He was the "real" Peter Pan :lmao: I remember him asking her how old she was. When she replied "12" he told her she was "dangerously close to growing up". My mom was with us that trip and we both teared up at his statement :sad1:
So the bottom line is that Simply Segway is scratched from our plans. But we will have plenty of things to do to keep us busy! :cool1:

I hope so! We took her in August and she was about 20 months then and still loved it, despite the scorching heat and humidity. I'm excited to take her back. Love the Peter Pan story. That's a great Disney moment. Sorry to hear the segway tour didn't work out, next time!

I am so excited to be going again so I decided to dive right into our plans :thumbsup2
We aren't doing the food plan but we are taking advantage of the package with the gift card. Since we are staying at a Value resort we received the $300 card. We figured this would pay for a good portion of our food.
Wednesday March 3rd
Arrive at airport @ 4 am (:sad2:)
Our flight leaves @ 5:30 (:sad2: :sad2:)
We arrive @ MCO @ 10 am :banana::banana::banana:
Check in @ Pop :hippie:
Lunch in the food court!!! Yay this is when I will finally be getting some Tye Dyed Cheesecake :woohoo: I am also really looking forward to eating here since I have heard so many good things about Pop's food court.
Our first park will be.......... MAGIC KINGDOM :tinker:
Nothing like looking at my castle to get me in the vacation mood :lmao:
We will head towards Tomorrowland
Fast Pass Space Mountain I am looking forward to seeing the new additions
Ride Buzz Lightyear (will be sad riding it without my dad :guilty:)
Then ride the Carousel of Progress if it's open (not my choice ;) )
Then Adventureland
Ride Pirates pirate:
Head over to Liberty Square and ride my personal favorite The Haunted Mansion :yay:
Dinner @ Columbia Harbor House
Hit the Hall of Presidents
Once it gets dark we want to go back to Adventureland and ride the Jungle Cruise. (after seeing it on Mr. Capell's trip report we really want to try it out!)
then Wishes :wizard: from the handicapped area because grandma will be in an ecv
Fun first day!!
Great plans so far Dawn. I don't believe that you can't get an AAA discount on tours. When did that change? Silly, very silly.
As far as the Segway tour, Caitlin may change her mind and could always book later. What about the tour at Fort wilderness? That sounds pretty cool. There is also a tour in Celebration. It's very reasonably priced. Wish I could remember the name of the website, but it looked pretty cool and got some good reviews. It's a lot cheaper than any of the Disney tours and I really want to do it one of these days. I'll have to goggle it and see if I can find the site.

I don't like the Carousel of Progress because they really need to change the futuristic scene :lmao: most of the stuff they talk about in it we already have and I am pretty sure we don't dress like that
Also I am not a fan of music that gets stuck in your head (example: IASW) so listening to a "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" is a little bit like torture :lmao:

Good morning everyone. I thought I should give a little Disney background info.
I saw my first movies over 60 years ago and they were Cinderella and Dumbo.
When Disneyland opened I promised myself someday I would go there. When Dawn was a teenager I was able to fulfill that promise. Meantime we made our first trip to Disney World when Dawn was about 5. I believe this will be my 8th time going there. This will be the fourth time with Princess Caitlin. So the three generations of Disney girls love for Disney has been going on for a long time.

Re: Segways
I'll be talking about in the TR soon (or soon-ish ;)); I took both the 'Around the World' and 'Nature by Design', which I think is still not really publicized much. They were great! And totally worth the money.
I have not done the Simply Segway, but I think you can just show up if you want. I didn't even realize that it had to be booked. Trust me, 30 minutes is not even time.
Re: AAA
Yes, they changed it recently. Very frustrating; I don't understand why they are now tying it into with a AAA agent trip. I find they don't know half that I do. :rotfl: I don't see the point of booking with them.

I do want to do a segway tour eventually but I can never find time to do one!:confused3
Thank you for joining!
I am doing something special instead of the segway tour I will be participating in the Royal Family 5k that will be going on while we are there :thumbsup2 I am really looking forward to it! All of the proceeds go to the Leukemia Foundation

Good morning!!! Before I started on the plans I wanted to let everyone know that my D23 stuff came!!! Also for those of you that read my parents' solo trip Tr you know that I got into a car accident with a deer in the fall. (We wanted to wait until after the holidays to get it fixed and since I commute to EMU I couldn't afford to be without my car) Well I just found out that I don't have to pay my deductible :cool1: which is awesome because now I get more Disney spending money :lovestruc which led to me ordering 22 pins for pin trading on Ebay last night. I will post a picture of the D23 stuff and the pins after the pins arrive.
Day 2 plans
We will be having breakfast at POP
Heading to Epcot at 9 am
I will be doing the Soarin' fast pass run!
Then on to Test Track :thumbsup2
( which may or may not be my grandma's first time on it)
We will then do Ellen's Universe of Energy or whatever it is called :confused3
( I honestly love this ride and I don't see why so many people find it boring)
Next Nemo
Use the fastpasses for Soarin'
( I really want to get my mom on this ride eventually)
My personal favorite Journey into Imagination
(I have always loved this ride :cutie:)
Once World Showcase opens we will start in Mexico
(I love me some Three Caballeros!!!)
Then make our way around the World to France where we will be eating at Les Chefs de France
( I am so excited to eat here! I have seen so many yummy pictures on the Dis! We also made our reservation at a time where we could meet the Chef ;) )
We will then watch the French movie
Then head on over to Canada to watch Off Kilter
Back track to the UK and watch British invasion and then the World Showcase Players
after our shows we will go back to the resort and rest up
then Back to Epcot for Spaceship Earth and Illuminations
( I really want to find a good spot for Illuminations if anyone has any suggestions?)
End of Day 2!
I love Epcot and can't wait to go back!

Sounds like a great plan.
No Maelstrom or Mission: Space?
Japan is a great place to watch Innoventions but the globe is a bit far away.
A better view of that is at the Future World side of the lagoon between the two boat docks. I did that last time and you get a great view!
But that spot fills up first.
Or, by then, the new Cantina de San Angel may be open.
That could be an intriguing view - especially if they have a 2nd floor which has been rumored...

We will most likely ride the Maelstrom but we usually rush through the World Showcase so we are trying to split it up into two days so we don't miss anything.
I like Mission Space but I hate waiting alone for rides and I feel sad riding without my dad on certain rides.
Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2
We watched it from the Mexico counter service tables last time but unless you are right up at the fence it's hard to see

True but I think a 2nd Floor Option at Mexico may be awesome if the rumors hold.
Also, you can always be a wimp like me and ride Mission: Space Green Team.
Mom should be able to handle that one - it's no worse than Star Tours.
I took DD7 last year and he's just as wimpy as I am...
As for 2 days in Epcot - it's definitely worth it.
We usually take our time through the countries (and Kim Possible helps that now) on one day (after Soarin and Mission:Space in the morning).
The other day is devoted to Future World (with meals in Coral Reef or the closer countries like Le Cellier, San Angel Inn, or Biergarten).
The way I figure it, the more time in Epcot, the more time to enjoy those great restaurants!! :woohoo:

I usually ride orange and my mom gets little bit of motion sickness so I don't see her going on Mission Space any time soon
I really want to check out more of Future World it seems like we always miss it :confused3 I really want to try out the new roller coaster simulator Sum of all Thrills

Yes I am a big chicken when it comes to the rides :rotfl: I get motion sickness but instead of getting an upset stomach I get terrible headaches that last all day :headache: So at Epcot that means I don't do Soarin (that flying feeling is horrible for me!) or Mission Space. TT doesn't bother me and I really enjoy it!

That sounds like a fun day at Epcot, but then again, I love Epcot! We've done chefs de france twice before, usually for dinner and really enjoyed it. That'll be fun that you'll get to meet Remy! I think that would be fun to do when you are dining there. Oh, and the yummy desserts you can get between the restaurant and the nearby patisserie. yum1

Thanks I am glad too :) I am so excited to get it fixed finally it's just so hard to find time especially since I will be without it for 5 1/2 days
Pin trading is so much fun! I got addicted to it last trip when my mom bought me maybe 10-13 pins and I eventually ran out of ones to trade with so I felt I had to buy more this time. It was a really good deal though it was $1.10 for each pin and the seller offered free shipping :thumbsup2

Happy Monday Everyone!
Guess what I got in my email this morning? Our vouchers for the Disney Give a Day Get a Day Program :cool1: I have to say I am so impressed with the ease of this program! We simply signed up online, waited to hear from the local Project Linus rep, made the blankets, delivered them to the PL coordinator's home and then waited to hear back from Disney.(which took about 10 days after the blankets were delivered) The email this morning had a link to click on and print the vouchers. Very simple! If any of you are planning to do this there are some blackout dates you might want to be aware of....WDW BO dates are March 29-April 8 and July 4th. The DL BO dates are Feb.13-14, March 21, June 21-22, July4th, Nov. 21 and Dec.11 & 12.All vouchers must be redeemed by Dec.15, 2010.
I read on the Dis that these can be used to upgrade towards an AP. So now I am trying to decide if I should combine these and our March 5 day passes into AP since we'll be back in Sept? Anyone have any thoughts?

Ooooh - applying towards an AP sounds promising.
How much does it equate to?
We're still looking for a volunteer app that the whole family can do.
Using the voucher as a discount off an AP is even more incentive though!!
BTW - is there a gift card option like with the Birthday Fastpasses last year?

From what I've read on the Dis you can get the full $79 ticket price if you use the voucher toward an upgrade.
There is no gift card option offered. It's either use the ticket, donate it or get the fast passes.
I hope you guys have some luck finding something your whole family can do!

I'm somewhat the opposite. LOVE Soarin' but Test Track leaves me a little queasy. Well, just the roller coaster part. Mission space is ok. I did the easy one and no real problem but the hard one...I'll pass. :goodvibes
I did PM you about Facebook.
And, is it just me, or is D23 really cutting close for its 1st year anniversaries? How do they expect for "visitors coming in around the world" to make it? (other than already have planned trips?). I woudln't mind coming down for the March 5th celebration, but I can't make plans until I have a ticket to it. :confused3

I always skip the try-outs as well. I tivo all the episodes so that I don't miss any of the real ones, but just delete when I find out it's an audition. :)

I don't get car sick so I'm not sure if the same rides would bother Tessa that bother me but here are rides I avoid...at MK the teacups are the worst! I skip those and Space Mountain. At DHS I don't do the Rockin RollerCoaster, Star Wars or the Tower of Terror. ("normal" elevators bother me so I have no desire to ride one that will drop me :scared1:) and at AK I skip Expedition Everest.

Hmmm. I wonder what the difference is, with different types of motions? We did the teacups with her last year and she was fine. Dumbo was her favorite, so I guess spinning isn't her issue. I don't even get motion sickness but I hear you the ToT!!! I used to have a repeating nightmare of being in a falling elevator. No thanks!:scared1:

I just read on the Dis Budget Board that Little Debbie's website is running a travel contest inconjuction with Holiday Inn and Air Tran. If you register for the contest Air Tran sends you a code for $10 off your next purchase. :) Since we are flying AT I signed up myself and my mom (one code per household) and got a combined $20 credit from Air Tran :cool1:
This was enough to pay for our 3 "pre-selected seats" on our flight home.( I had already selected our seats for the trip there but hadn't for our way home) Just wanted to share in case any of you are using Air Tran in the near future. **I didn't pay attention to how long the codes are good for though**

Go to Rope Drop at DHS
I know that DHS rope drop isn't that special but I do love hearing Lights, Camera, ACTION!:lmao:
I will ride TOT & RNR while my mom does the TSM dash to get fast passes and we will meet at TSM after I am done
I personally love TSM just because it makes the TOT & RNR lines so much shorter!
Watch the Little Mermaid
The go to the Animation Building and see the characters there
I am really hoping the UP! characters will still be there
at 1130 go watch Beauty & the Beast
I am excited to see this with my grandma

We have done Indy a few times (I've been in it twice!)so it's not a must do for us HOWEVER we haven't done it since Caitlin has been old enough to volunteer. We may have to consider that since she had so much fun being in the Backlot Tour movie in May!

Great day 3 plans sounds like you all have all the basics covered . I would also recommend somewhere other than Pizza Planet , we really didn't care for this , the pizza wasn't very good and thought you could find better outside the parks (IMO). I don't care for any of the Studio's CS but on our next trip we are going to try out Starring Rolls Cafe , don't know if you have checked it out before but they are suppose to serve very yummy sandwiches & sweet treats .
By the way we haven't booked our trip yet , waiting on the money to do so but as of now we are going September 16 - September 22 & staying at the Wilderness Lodge , gonna do a Pre-trip report once we have it on the books , which should be soon :)

Ooh, that looks like a fun party! It'll be nice to be in the park after it closes to the public too! oh, and I second the recommendation to Starring Rolls Cafe. We didn't eat lunch there but got some nice pastries for breakfast one morning. I've also seen pics of their cupcakes and they look AMAZING. I am definitely going to try one of those in May!

As if being able to say "we go to WDW next month" wasn't enough to get us excited, today we got Mickey Mail:smickey:
We got our Magical Express packet and our "package" :woohoo:
The "package" booklet has the same cover as 2009, with the castle and the balloons, but some of the package inclusions have changed. I am bummed that they have taken away the free Photopass 5x7 picture! That was always my favorite feature! Even though the free pic is gone, the package now has a PP card and says if you pre-register your card they will send you some "special offers". (I think that means we'll get an email to pre-order the cd?) Another thing new in the package is a coupon for 15% off at Nikki Bryan Spa. We won't be using that but for folks who enjoy that sort of thing it might be a nice savings.
So we have everything we need...now we just have to wait for March 3rd! :)

I spent the next couple hours with my mom at the mall, never a bad way to kill time ;) and was back online at 1pm ready for those tickets! 1pm came and again NOTHING!! :headache: At 1:05 I finally got through, seemed like hours not minutes!, and got our tickets!!!!:banana::banana: I am so excited! I booked the first dinner seating which is 4:30. That way we'll have a big breakfast, a snack mid day and then the buffet at 4:30. Can't eat too much that day since we'll have the dessert party that night :woohoo:

We watched up against the railing between Canada and the UK, and it was a really good spot!
And at our members' request, guests will mix and mingle with beloved, classic Disney characters, as well as a few friends you may not have seen strolling through the park in a while!
Any idea who the mystery characters are? Sounds intriguing!

We are really excited for the party! One of my favorite things about WDW is there is so much to see and do that no matter how often you go you just can't do it all! This trip besides going to the party, we are eating at 4 "new to us" restaurants!
Hey Dawn and Caitlin....
Congrats on getting the tickets to the D23 party! That sounds pretty cool! I can't believe your trip is less than a month away!!!!! :cool1: Mine is less than 3 months away.
And...some good news....I booked my flights for May, I am having tons of fun with my new camera, and I got a new (actually used) Macbook that I am learning to use. I bought it from a friend who deals in repo'd computers. Its pretty slick and has some great photo editing features. It is keeping me busy during this lovely snow storm.
Oh...and I found a great volunteer activity for the "Give a Day" project. I signed up to walk dogs. Yup...I think I can handle that. I don't have to drive too far and I don't have to go into a hospital!
Looking forward to hearing about your upcoming trip!

Hi Mary Ellen! Thanks! I'm hoping the party lives up to our expectations :)
Caitlin mentioned you the other day and said, "Remember when Mary Ellen said she knew we wouldn't wait til Sept to go back :rotfl:" Yeah, you were right.
Hopefully the next few months will go quickly as you anticipate your trip!
Glad to hear the camera is working out for you :thumbsup2 I'll look forward to yur May pics! A MacBook? Dale will be so jealous! He'd love one of those!
Ew for snow! How much have you had this winter? Here in Michigan we've hardly had any snow this year! We've lucked out that it just keeps missing us (knock on wood)
We're dog people so dog walking sounds fun (unless you get some wild dogs!)
Glad to hear from you! Stay warm!

We have had two big snow storms this year. The second one was before Christmas. This one is huge though. They said it might be as big as the one we had in 96 (which I don't remember all that well since my kids were little). I am just watching the snow pile up higher and higher on the back deck. It's crazy.....I think it is going to be up to the rails soon.
My mac is actually a couple years old. I have a friend that sells gently used computers. I like to buy from him cause he fixes everything forever. He mostly deals with windows. I had my computer in there for a quick fix of a back light and he showed me this mac and let me take it home and play with it. It's so great for recording music. I couldn't resist. I actually thought about buying a new one, but this is a 17 inch monitor and the price tag on that would have been......:scared1:. This still has some warranty left under applecare. Once I get the hang of it a bit better I would like to update to the newest operating system and software. Right now I am just trying to work it. It took me forever to figure out how to resize my photos for photobucket. I feel so dumb, although a lot of it is pretty intuitive.
Anyhooo... I got behind on everyone's TRs for awhile. I think I am just about caught up and super psyched to know that in a little over a month I will have your TR to look forward too.
p.s. I better NOT get wild dogs to walk! :rotfl:

Yesterday we got a cool email from Disney. It was sort of like a newsletter welcoming our family on the upcoming trip and had a lot of suggestions on things to see and do in WDW. (we got something similar for the first time just before our Sept.2009 trip) This email also included a link to the offer to pre-order the PP cd for $99. A couple TRs I'm reading right now (the capells and MyMuse) have so many great pp pics that they pretty much sold me on the cd! So I pre-ordered and I'm pretty excited about it! Now I just have to make sure we stake out every PP photographer on property :rotfl:
ALSO-When you order the cd they also "give you" the option to order a "free" personalized Photo Pass Card. These are so cool! There is a choice of designs for the PP card and you pick which you want and then you can upload your pic to placed on the card. If you don't want to upload your own pic they give you many of theirs to choose from. I uploaded one of my favorite pics from last May and I'm really excited to see how it turns out! When it arrives I will post a pic. We'll now have 2 PP cards to take with us and I am using the hole punch and will hang them from Caitlin's pin trading lanyard for easy access :)
In other planning news.....since we got our tax return yesterday (:dance3:) I've been checking on flight prices for Sept. Right now they are actually pretty good and running $200 less then March cost us. So the question is, do we book our flights 7months in advance or hope that the price either drops or at least doesn't rise?

With the addition of the D23 party and looking at EMHs we have completely changed our plans for our first few days. Caitlin saw that our first day AK has pm EMH and after reading about how cool EE is after dark she asked that we go to AK our first day. So on arrival day we will still have lunch at the Pop food court and then head over to the AK. They will be open til 8pm so we should have plenty of time to explore over there. For dinner we will try the Yak and Yeti Counter Service.
Our second day we had planned to go to MK but since we will be going there on our 3rd day (Friday) for the party we switched our DHS and MK days. This will also mean we are at DHS on a Fantasmic day. Since DHS may be more crowded due to Fantasmic crowds we will use one of our "Give a Day" tickets to get the FP option which will cut down on any wait times we might encounter. We also decided against Pizza Planet:scared: since several of you told us how bad it was. Instead we'll take the boat over to the Beach Club and have lunch at Beaches and Cream. We ate there in May and really enjoyed it and the portions are big enough to share! :thumbsup2 Depending on how much we get done at DHS we may take an afternoon break at the resort and then go back for Fantasmic. For dinner we will probably get a sandwich from Starring Rolls and split it while we wait for Fantasmic.
I think that gets us corrected on the plans we'd shared so far. Up next-D23 Party Day!

Nice plan!
You guys know how much I liked Yak and Yeti counter service so that's a good call.
And AK at nite is something we still haven't tried so can't wait to see your pics!
I've actually heard of people getting 5:00 or so ADR's at Yak and Yeti and then strolling the empty park on their way out.
I imagine there are some great photo ops at that time of night...
I think the best idea would be to find a group and do the Safari Celebration Dinner Grand Gathering event.
Now if I can only find 3 other people...
See - this is why we need to coordinate our trips next time around!!!

Congrats on the D23 party tickets , it's sounds like it's gonna be such a good time , can't wait to see pictures !
You'll love PP we did it for the first time last year and I finally got to be in pictures for once , since I'm usually behind the camera . lol Just make sure you take the opportunity to stop at every Photopass Photographer can and it will be well worth the money :)
The changes in your plans look great , I'm so glad you decide against Pizza Planet IMO I just don't think you would have been happy with the meal .
I'm hoping to get my Pre-Trip Report up and running this week . Having trouble booking the room we want right now cause they don't have any available for the code we have . So we may have to change dates or change room type & pay a little more .

Not well at all, I do the exact same thing you did:lmao: I think it drives her crazy but I can't help it. She is on the school cheerleading team and decided for the first time she would try and make the pom and stunt teams as well, she made both...that made me cry!! Every year of high school I told her, you have what it take to make all three teams (she holds a second degree black belt in Taekwondo so is very flexible) but she still suffers from self esteem issues. I was so proud when she came home and said she made it, I cried, and I got the "what are you crying for". Do you think it has something to do with every first is also our last as we only have one child?
I am so happy she's decided to go to University here...the campus is actually 4 blocks from my work so depending on her schedule, I'm hoping we can travel together. I now know then, when I'm having a moment, I can send you a message cause you know exactly how I feel.:sad2:

Congrats to Jasmine! That's quite an accomplishment!
I do think parents of "onlys" are much more keenly aware of how fast their children grow up. We know that we only get one shot at everything they go and grow through.
I'm glad she's going to school close to home! The fact that Caitlin decided to live at home and commute made the transition much easier for me :rotfl: And you certainly can message me when you have a moment! I've totally been there (and survived ;))

So I told you I was tracking airfare and I'm really pleased with the price I found so I will be booking tomorrow with Delta :cool1:What's really cool is not only is the price good but they are non-stops! :woohoo:
When I orginally booked our Bounceback, I booked a Wed-Tues because AirTran and Spirit are always cheaper mid-week. Well Delta offers the same prices everyday so I decided to switch our reservation. We are now booked Sun. August 29 through Sun. Sept.5. (yep I added an extra night ;)) This will make it easier for Dale to get a solid week off work and get Caitlin home for Labor Day, which is a big kickoff day for the university's student orgs.
This also means our adr date moves up a few days! It will be the day before we leave on our March trip! So with that adr date rapidly approaching, how bout some dining suggestions? Tell us your favorite restaurant on property and what you'd order....Looking forward to hearing your suggestions! :goodvibes

Thanks! We have free dining and we won't be upgrading since we'll be going off property to US/IOA at least one day. That also gives us a little extra in case we want to do a signature meal.

So happy about the airfare, I love it!!!!
Our favorites...let me see... Liberty Tree Tavern, it just reminds me of a true homemade meal, which I crave when I'm there. Second would have to be Boma, breakfast, lunch or dinner, we love it there. Third....Kona for dinner!! Kona was our favorite meal when we were there in August!!
Can't wait to hear and how great that you get to book the day before your March trip!:cool1:

What a pleasant surprise to get to add on an extra day at WDW! :cool1:
Two of our fave places to eat are at the Poly - Kona for dinner (the bread they give you while you are waiting with the macadamia nut butter is just heaven) and Ohana's (hubby is obsessed with the bread pudding). We also like Wolfgang Puck Express (when it's not too busy).
We also have fun just trying out new places. There are a lot of yummy snack places though.

Jumping in to say the one restaurant that we HAVE to visit each trip in the Biergarten in Germany. Its a buffet so you get to pick and choose. It's the only place that I get spatzle (always say that I'm going to try and make it myself someday).
Congratulations on the extra day - can't wait to hear about the D23 party!

In other planning news.....since we got our tax return yesterday (:dance3:) I've been checking on flight prices for Sept. Right now they are actually pretty good and running $200 less then March cost us. So the question is, do we book our flights 7months in advance or hope that the price either drops or at least doesn't rise?
Love love love Photopass! Especially if they do magic shots! I was a bit of a nut on my trip, so I'm sure my behavior was not the norm. :rotfl:
Airfare is a total pain. I'm glad you have found a great airfare and non-stop.
So I told you I was tracking airfare and I'm really pleased with the price I found so I will be booking tomorrow with Delta :cool1:What's really cool is not only is the price good but they are non-stops! :woohoo:

Thank you! I am so glad that we will have non-stops in Sept! I'm dreading that on the March trip! We try to do new places each trip and since you and LilAnn both suggested Kona (which we've never done) that is under serious consideration now! What do you recommend there?

You actually recommended a couple of our favorites! Dale and I love Ohana and ate there in Sept. Caitlin's not too big a fan though she's not a big meat eater and all that meat kind of grosses her out  Her favorite cs in WPE so I am sure we will be stopping there at some point. So what's your favorite at Kona?

Hmm..I didn't make any eating suggestions, because I can't think properly at 1am, waiting for snow. LOL!
I really really enjoyed Garden Grill; food all from The Land and the character meets are very relaxed and they are so cute. You are pratically guaranteed to see them all at least 3 times. :goodvibes

We've never been to either the GG or Kona so they both sound good! We aren't planning to do any character breakfasts in Sept so a dinner might be a nice change!

Isn't Narcossee's nice?! We ate there last May and in Sept and enjoyed it both times! Since we always try to visit new places I don't think we'll do it again in Sept. We do have another signature place in mind tho...

March Info...I know you all know that Caitlin,Dale and I made blankets for Project Linus, well grandma ended up making one too :goodvibes She made a Tinkerbell blanket that came out really cute! I did all her registering for her and her GAD voucher came today :cool1: I am pretty sure we are going to use her voucher for the FP option on our DHS day. Since we are going there on a Fantasmic day I am pretty sure it will be busy! Hopefully having the FP will help us see more with minimal waits!
August/September...I just bought our plane tickets ( Makes it seem more real somehow!) I know I told you I was happy with the price and the fact it's non-stop. I am also very happy that they let you choose your seats for free (ok not really free since we had to pay for the ticket but you know what I mean) I am used to airlines that charge you extra for your seat so that was some added savings :woohoo:
I'm sure most of you heard yesterday's announcement that the Electrical Light Parade is replacing Spectromagic this summer! I am so excited! I love my old-school Disney and I'm really hoping the "new" parade will still be there for our trip! I'm hoping they keep it until Labor Day anyway! There are also going to be some changes made to TOT that Caitlin's looking forward to! I guess over the next few weeks they will be making more announcements about what's going to be new in the coming months, so I'm anxious to hear all about it! :yay:

I agree, when you actually start paying for things, it gets very real!! I have to agree, nothing like a great price and non-stop!! We had non stop on the way home and it was wonderful. We used to have non stop flights all the time to Orlando from Winnipeg before 9/11, but that charter, Canada 3000, unfortunately went out of business.:sad2:

I've never been a big fan of carrying a lot of cash on vacation so for our Disney visits I always get gift cards +/or Disney Dollars. Well with the closing of the Disney stores Disney Dollars have gotten hard to come by so this trip it is all Disney gift cards with some cash for cabs etc. I used to always order our gc online from Disneyland's website because they had the greatest variety but now the Disney Store online has topped them! They have tons of designs! Here are most of our gcs for March...
The gift cards now come inside a card in case it is a gift...

I love the themed gift card idea!
So the Lilo & Stitch are for Kona or 'Ohana and Remy is for Chefs de France?
What did you theme 101 Dalmations for?
I guess Snow White could be for Biergarten, Jungle Book would work for Animal Kingdom, and Monsters Inc would suffice for anything at DHS...

They haven't released an end date so I'm not sure when they'll go back to Spectro. They are calling it "Summer Nighttastic" so it doesn't sound like it will last too long though.
The TOT changes were new lighting effects, a new drop sequence and some "other suprise".
And thanks :)

I wish I had a relationship like that with my grandparents. I never knew my maternal grandparents - they passed away when I was a baby & don't remember them at all. In addition to our Disney themed meal and movie we also had some Disney gifts today :) so I thought I'd share a couple pics.
Dale suprised me this morning with my first Jim Shore Disney figurine :goodvibes He didn't even know that Caitlin was hoping to start collecting these. As you can see it goes perfect with our pic from September :)

We are looking forward to the Ohana breakfast! Glad to hear you've enjoyed it!
I'm hoping the big breakfast will tide us over until dinner at 4:30. We will probably grab just a snack for lunch. Depending on the weather maybe ice cream from the ice cream shoppe or something sweet from the bakery? We want to be really hungry for the dinner and dessert party! :rotfl:

We are taking it easy as well we are actually having our first ever Disney themed meal!
We will be watching Mulan and having stir fry for lunch and the for dessert we will be watching Mary Poppins and having tea cakes (cupcakes)
I have seen so many families do this on their trip reports that I requested to have one :lmao:
What a great idea, Caitlin! We're going to have to get at least a couple in before we leave, maybe the next two weekends! I was very ambitious about them to begin with, then hospital life happened.
Happy Valentine's Day!!!
What a great idea....love that....now I'm craving stir fry. :lmao: I'll make it for dinner, Jasmine and Aladdin are going out for dinner and a movie, so I'll have stir fry and watch the Olympics:banana:pathetic isn't it?:rotfl2:
Not pathetic at all, our tv doesn't leave NBC unless the Olympics aren't on..I love them, and told Piper ahead of time the Olympics were priority for the next 2 weeks..lol. I just love them..luckily Piper likes the winter sports too.
I like the story about your Nanny. Sounds like she would have gotten along well with my grandma. I am looking forward to meeting Pipers grandma:tinker:
Thank you! We're soooo looking forward to it!
