Copyright Watermark?

I see many of you have a copyright watermark on the photos you post. Is this mark placed by your post-processing software? I've not posted anything on the boards yet & would like to add the mark to select pics. Right now, I have a basic microsoft editing program. I'll be replacing my laptop in the next few months then I'm planning to install editing software. As the time gets closer I'll be asking for some opinions....

You dont need anything fancy to create a copyright on your photograph.
Just something that will let you place text on it.

If I remember correctly someone here uses an online service to create copyright watermarks for there photos.

If you even just get photoshop elements there are a ton of tutorials online on how to make a watermark :)

I watermark using Photoshop Elements. When processing multiple files in the file menu, there's an option there to watermark. It makes it easy to resize for my website and watermark all in one shot. You can choose the font and everything!
