My family has done the DDP 3 or 4 times now. We enjoyed it, esp. our experiences when we saved up 2 credits for a signature experience. However, we often feel full and gross at the end of the vacation.
This time we are going on 3 months notice and on a smaller budget. If we stay onsite, we will do the QS dining plan. The resort choice in that case is POR, which looks like it has some good options for the food court. I know we have also eaten at some CS restaurants that were really good ( Wolfgang Puck Express, Earl of Sandwich, Sunshine Seasons).
There are 5 of us and the kids are 17,14 and 11. None of the kids are bottomless pit type eaters.
If you have done the QS dining plan, what were your experiences and do you have any helpful tips?

We've done the QS plan and it was great! We ended up with extra CS meals at the end of the trip and just way too many snacks. You can get just about anything in the case at the Goofy's for a snack. Epcot has great choices for meals; Tangierine Cafe, Sunshine Seasons, Norway Bakery. The Poly's CS place has some variety and you can get Dole Whips as a dessert there. :)

We did QSDP in June and October and loved it. We have 3 boys, 13, 10, 6. It was nice not to be tied to reservations. We also liked having the extra snack credit. We did end up taking some desserts to go, which made for nice snacks later. We paid OOP for 1 table service meal per trip.

We did the QSDP for our first trip to Disney last year and loved it. Our daughters who are 9 and 5 liked it too. The 9 yr old was pretty disappointed with her choices since she was considered a child so I just ordered off the kids menu for myself and let her have my adult credit when that occured. Let me just say she is very excited that she moves up to adult credit on the dining plan this year. There were tons of snack credits too so we went CRAZY in Goofy's our last night there and brought back everyone a Mickey rice crispy treat as prizes. We did pay OOP for the birthday breakfast at CP for the 5 yr old and it ended up around $90.00. We are going to do the same plan again that way we won't be tied down to ADR's everyday and can have fun and eat when we feel like it. We are not big ADR fan's and would rather enjoy more of the park instead of the dining.

We love the QSDP. We only like 1 - 2 TS meals a trip so the DDP is too much for us. We are DVC and therefore, do split stays so we can do DDP for 2 nights and then QSDP the rest of the time.

When we did this last August, we usually got fruit as our dessert for either lunch or dinner. Most days, we ate at least one of our CS meals at the resort (we were at VWL, BWV, and BLT so had a refrigerator).

We saved the fruit and used 1 snack credit the next day to get a muffin, danish, bagel, etc. We then were able to use the fruit and snack as our breakfast.

And, there were a few times where my DD13 and I could split meals (Sunshine Seasons, for example) and ended up saving 3 CS meals for check out day. This allowed my 3 children to eat a full breakfast the last day.

And, with this, we had plenty of food and I didn't have hardly any OOP expenses the whole week. The only cost I had was for a case of water from the Hess station ($5.00) and a few specialty drinks during the week (smoothies, frozen cappuccinos) that were not part of the DDP.

I will always go this way--well, at least as long as Disney keeps it as is!

Have a great trip!!!

I've debated this too, but I really like the down time for TS each day.
