Welcome ladies!! I figured, New Year, new thread. I know how we all love that shiny new thread smell. ;)

So it's time to put past sins and frustrations behind us. Forget about them. They are gone. Congratulate yourself for past successes, then forget them too. Focus on the future and what that means for you.

More weight loss? Maintaining current weight loss? Making better food decisions? Drinking more water? Stopping smoking or drinking? Working out more often? Whatever the goal you have, be it big or small, now is the time to get started.

You can do it!! WE can do it!! There are no judgements here. Only friendship and support. The journey can be long and full of temptations and challenges, but it's worth it. Keep on keeping on ladies!!
"Success rests in having the courage and endurance and, above all, the will to become the person you are, however peculiar that may be. Then you will be able to say, 'I have found my hero and he (or she) is me.'"
Thank you Jen for this great quote!

Let's do this thing! I am ready! My plan for the day is to get to the gym with dh and work off the rest of the NYE splurge before my wi on Tuesday! My goal for the 7 1/2 weeks before our trip is to get to under 200 lbs for the first time since I was pregnant with Ds who is now 4 1/2! I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you!

Don't forget to drink that water!

Kerplunk! (Yep, fell off the wagon). :rolleyes1

But, I'm back, and gettin' healthy before the big 4-0 hits me this year. :thumbsup2

I'm going to get out and go for a walk/jog today. It's a beautiful, sunny day, so I want to enjoy it while it's here.....which it won't be for long. Rainy days ahead starting this evening.

Hi girls!

I'm still trying to stick to my new eating lifestyle. I think I'm doing pretty good, but only time will tell.

Sarah, if you don't mind my asking, can you tell me what your starting, current, and goal weights are? I saw your current picture over on the girls only trip thread and you're looking great! :thumbsup2 Same to you Beth. :thumbsup2

Welcome back to the wagon Capri!

It's rather cold here, but then again I'm a baby when it comes to the cold so it might not be that cold. It's hard for me to do anything when it's cold, but I think I will go for a walk. I really need to start exercising in addition to my dieting.

Good luck to everyone in the new year! Lets do this thing! :yay:

I lost 18 lbs last summer and have kept it off. :) I now want to tone. I am getting back on the workout wagon. :)

If anyone wants support - I lost my weight with nutritional cleansing - I would be happy to share what worked with me - just PM me.

I mistakenly posted these on the other thread. LOL Between WISH, DL and Vegas, I am getting confused.

Thought I would take a cue from Sarah and post some before and "during" pics. I won't say after since I am FAR from my goal. (At least 75 lbs away!) But sometimes just seeing what I've done so far helps remember why I keep trying.

This is me Christmas of 2006. No, I'm not pregnant, but I sure look it don't I??? :scared1:

And another from summer of '06:

And this is when most of the DL ladies first met me, the first annual ladies only trip in '08.

This was taken this past summer '09. I WAS down about 50 lbs when this was taken.

This was just taken after this past Thanksgiving when Linda, Cheryl and Marcie came to visit. Like I said, at one point I was down 50 lbs. Sad to say, with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas I think I am now only down 40 or even 35!!

But seeing Sarah's pic and her banner on the trip thread and seeing how everyone is so eager to get fit and healthy, and seeing these pics, makes me eager to get going again!!!!! :cool1: :cheer2: We can do this WISHers!!!!!!!

So I am 5 pounds over where I was before our DL trip last month which puts me 20 pounds from my goal which I was hoping to hit before the trip next month. I doubt I can do it but I might be able to do 15 which will put me at 100 pounds less than I was 5 years ago. I am still trying to get rid of all the junk left over from the holidays and I just finished off the last of the chocolate covered cherries that DD gets me every year. I think we are all ready to get back on the wagon around here! It's just hard to get started again because those old habits come back so quickly.

Here's to a new and healthy year for all of us! :drinking1 It's just water, I promise! ;)

New year, new start! I haven't gained any weight, but I'm certainly not happy about where I am. I did a bit of hiking and snow shoeing over the holidays, so maybe that helped. And I got a new bike helmet for Christmas, so my goal is to get back on the bike!
Let's do it, girls!

Beth, you look great! 50 pounds is fantastic!!

For me, I guess I'm lucky and I don't have to worry about my weight. I've been skinny forever and it wasn't until the last year or so that I'm getting a pooch and it's harder to fit into my jeans. From junior high all the way to the year after I graduated high school I played sports year round and ate whatever I wanted. Now I still eat whatever I want and I don't work out at all. It's now starting to catch up with me.

In November I gave up drinking soda, I would drink 3 or 4 cans a day. Now I'm just drinking water and 100% juice and I can totally feel a difference. One of my New Years resolutions is to continue the no soda. I'm doing great so far! I don't even have the crave for it anymore.

At work I go and get my lunch pretty much everyday. Not only is this extremely unhealthy, I'm totally wasting my money. So for 2010, I'm bringing every lunch to work. My parents are eating healthier too, so I asked my Mom to cook a little extra dinner so I can bring the leftovers to work the next day.

We do have a 24 hour gym at our apartment complex, I think some days I'll head over there and walk/run on the treadmills.

Okay, here I am! I'm up about 30 pounds from about 1 1/2 years ago! YUCK!! I would like to be down about 10 pounds before our DL meet and the entire 30 before our Vegas meet. Can I do it?? Trying to figure out what type(s) of exercise to do to get the most benefit, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have an elliptical machine as well as a Soloflex and Wii fit. It's not like I need to join a gym or anything... I'm not even going to weigh myself until tomorrow morning, we're still finishing the junk food around here. One question, when is the best time to exercise in the morning? Before breakfast? After breakfast? How long before or after?? HELP!!!

Count me in as another girl getting thin in '10!
I've already started exercising, albeit slowly. Now it's all about healthier eating choices, which won't be to hard at home, and getting in my daily exercise.

I hope everyone has a great start on Monday!

Working on this soda habit this week. The morning one is hardest for me because water and I do not get along first thing in morning. So gotta get juice, soy milk or Gatorade for those mornings. Water just makes me gag first thing in mornings.

My bigger goal for the week and well the month is to get exercising. I signed up for the Jan Exercise challenge and challenging myself to 600 minutes in January.

I can't join the fun next month but I can have a goal of 10 lbs by then it will get me back at 50 lbs gone since I gained some back between Oct and Nov when I weighed at my Dr.'s office. Still down and all my pants are loose and some fall down constantly. :woohoo: :yay:

Wow Beth great job. Looking good don't let the setback get ya down, you can and HAVE done it.

No problem. At the last Diva trip I was about 275...I got up to just under 285 by May and could really tell on my trip to Reno when I could barely and I mean BARELY get the seat belt to close. I joined WW as soon as I got back home from that trip which also was my sons 4th birthday. Since then I have lost 70.6 lbs and I am currently 214.2. I have been eating better, drinking lots of water and working out at the gym. My goal for before I see you all again is to lose 16 lbs and be under 200! My plan is to follow the points system and to go to the gym and do at least 45 minutes there at least 3 times per week. I have been the last 3 days in a row and feel good about that. One of my new years resolutions was...now don't faint Beth...to drink no soda in 2010! I am hoping it will help save me money and I know I do so much better staying on plan when I drink water only. Here are some pictures...

This is me in Reno right before I started WW

This is me and Vicki in May about 2 weeks after I started WW

This is me and Cristabel in September at the mini meet
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e6/sahbushka/DSC02538.jpg

And this is me December 27 at a friends house...sorry I don't have a full body shot but not many pictures get taken of me as I am usually the one who remembers to take pictures!
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e6/sahbushka/DSC03127-1-1.jpg

I still have about 65 lbs to lose as I want to get down to 150. I am 5'5" so that is the highest of the acceptable weights I can get to and make lifetime with WW.

To answer your question...the best time to work out is when you do it....seriously. You have to find the time that works best with your life and your schedule otherwise you won't do it. Pick a time and stick with it. Put it in your dayplanner, don't schedule anything else that will take you away from that time.

Good luck!

Hi Ladies! I know a lot of you THINK I'm not fat, but I tell ya, Washington State has done a number on me. I've gained a lot since we moved and I have been eating way too much of Dan's baking. I can hardly fit into my largest-size clothes. Pair that with the fact that I have to go to Maui and shove my rolls into a swimsuit in 23 days!!! EEEEK! :scared1:

Dan and I are doing some serious weight-loss dieting right now which we did a couple summers ago where we both lost 15 lbs the first 3 weeks. Hoping that at least takes care of the immediate situation. It's a carb-free, sugar-free diet, which I realize overall is not the healtiest, but this is a Maui Emergency!!

When we get back, I'm hoping that we will be able to continue eating less sugar and refined carbs and put a lot more organic veggies in our diet. We have both recently given up coffee which always included a large amount of hazelnut creamer. I have also given up my daily diet soda and have replaced it with water or tea. I allow myself one diet coke or fresca per week as a treat.

Hoping to get Dan out for daily walks with me and my dad has a Bowflex machine he has offered to let us "store" for him in our guest room. I'm going to call him today and see if he'll bring it over.

The first couple days of this diet are always the hardest while the body is going into ketosis and you feel like you're starving to death. I might be posting a lot just to complain about hunger pains.

Best wishes to everyone else on their healthy goals!

No coffee!!!???!!! Don't know if I could do that. And I know, it's not the coffee that's so bad, it's what you add to it. And I don't drink soda; if I did, that would be an easy way to get started.

Okay, okay. I suppose I could give it a shot. Water it is!! Well, maybe just cut down to one soda a day. For now.

Hey Capri, you on board with the no soda pledge?? ;)

No, no, no, no, no! I'm not giving up my Diet Coke! (Insert pouty face smilie) I know it's bad for me, and I drink too much coffee (at least I don't add anything to it), but the line has to be drawn somewhere. I will try to keep it down to one or two a day, and I will try to drink lots of water.

I am not looking forward to going through that starving feeling again either. My body had gotten so used to 1000 calories a day, and now I need to get used to it again.

Dan started doing a lot of research on coffee's effect on cortisol levels in the body and how that is attributed to belly fat. Since we gave up the coffee, we are both sleeping through the night which hasn't happened in a long, long time.

I'm surprised at how much I am liking tea. I drink one cup in the morning with stevia, and one decaf cup in the evening (chamomile or coconut chai). It's been a good replacement for me and when I had a "special" cup of coffee on Christmas morning, it wasn't really all that tasty. I think a lot of my addiction was mental.

Beth and Sarah, thanks so much for posting those pics! You both have come such a long way and the results are amazing. Just the difference in your faces is astounding!

Ok, well I said I was gonna call my dad, so I better follow through and do that. :thumbsup2

I only drink 1 cup a day, although it's a BIG cup, and in the morning when I first get up. The rest of the day it's water, but thinking I need to drink green tea as well, and I think I even have some decaf green tea around here somewhere... In the summer, I drink iced tea, usually no coffee.

I have been on the diet yo yo myself for years. I am glad we have a new thread and I plan to get on board as well!

I have my own photos of shame LOL.

This was me at about my top weight around 190 back when I was married to my ex. This was in about 97.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/kelmac284/fatmebefore001.jpg

Then I had the fabulous divorce diet and lost about 60 lbs in only a few months. I managed to keep it off over a year and prob would have kept it off longer but I got pg with Katy.

I was about 135 here.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/kelmac284/skinnyme001.jpg

I would love to get down to this weight again but doubt that is possible. My NEW goal is 145. I was 155 when I came down last year but I don't know if getting down that low again is possible or not but I am sure going to try! :)

This is me after the two babies when I was back in the 170's

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/kelmac284/fatagain001.jpg

Then I lost it AGAIN and got down to about 160's.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/kelmac284/fatagain002.jpg

Then when shane got deployed I gained it back AGAIN

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/kelmac284/disney4001.jpg

Then I lost about 30 lbs this last year and the lowest I got was 155. But over this past year I have gone back up to 166. SOOO I need to get back on the horse.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/kelmac284/100_2636.jpg

I want to get to about 140 or lower if possible. But that is my yo yo journey.

So you guys are not alone.

I hope to start working out tomorrow or at least this week and of course getting back on track with my eating!

Good luck to us all!

So like I posted on the other thread, I started weight watchers today. I was a member long ago before I went back to school, and since then, I gained everything back and then some. So now I got to get back on track. Mostly for health reasons. And plus, Im hot and want to look like it too. :goodvibes

YAY we have a new home!!

I am thinking of joining WW.

I am looking into buying a stairstepper or treadmill this week. I figure if I am going to watch tv I might as well be doing something while I am watching.

Beth~ Great changes girl!

I am cutting back to 1 pop a day if that. But give up coffee NEVER!!!!!!

The Bowflex is now sitting in my guest bedroom. Guess I better figure out how to use it!

I want something sweet so bad tonight. I think it's just that I have become so used to eating the Christmas candy/sweets after dinner. I have some sugar-free coffee nips, I might have one of those.

I am joining you all...again! After seeing recent pictures I realize I can't crop out my body forever. I am so tired of my fat clothes! I want to get back into my cute clothes and now that I live in CA and there really is no winter I really can't easily hide behind bulky sweaters.

I still have my subscriptions to WW that I had last Spring when I was doing well so I'll be logging in there and I plan to start walking every day and then I'm going to try running again to see how my foot responds this time around - but regardless I've got to get moving!

I've done my share of Yo-yoing too and I am not sure I can get off that cycle but I plan to spend a lot more time in the down cycle than in the up!

Thanks in advance for the support that I know I'll be getting from you all!

I'm here to join you ladies. I signed up to WW and I'm feeling pretty good about it, except for all the Christmas goodies still lingering in the house. I have to lose weight for more than just looking good. I have some major hormone issues and the specialist has told me that I will be a diabetic in no time if I don't lose the weight and start eating healthier. One of my many issues is that I have PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) which makes losing weight a little bit harder, I'm also insulin resistance so I should cut back drastically on the carbs.
I LOVE to eat, especially pasta, breads, sweets and I'm addicted to Pepsi. I really have my work cut out for me.
I've been heavy since I started puberty. The only times I've lost weight was when I was pregnant 3 times. Normally pregnant woman have hormones that are out of whack but mine become regulated so I lose 20lbs in the first 3 months then don't gain anything the other 6. After each baby I gained it all back plus another 10 at least:sad2:
I also have a bad habit of staying up until 2 or 3 am and snacking constantly.
My short term goals are to cut out pop and start sleeping better. Hopefully the rest will follow!
Thanks Sarah, Beth and Kelly for posting pictures. It really helps to see the differences and that it can be done.

I bought a WW cookbook a couple of weeks ago, hoping to use some of the recipes in my business. I guess I should use them for me, too.

Wow, Beth, you really know how to firestart a new thread! It was amazing to see your journey in pictures! It was so inspiring. You look fabulous to me and you'll look even more so, I know it.

Sarah, you too - so great!! Kelly, brava to your courage for showing your yo-yo history (which I easily share).

Angie and Christabel, you two could share notes. Both of you have posted here that you could be pre-diabetic.

Any of you who have the following symptoms: cold hands or feet, trouble staying awake during the day, weight gain - you could have what I have, hypo thyroidism. The at home test is to take your temperature while still in bed in the AM, with very little movement, five days in a row and record it. If it's consistently low and you have those symptoms, you are probably hypo and should see a good endocrinologist who is sensitive to this (many internists are unaware and look for large numbers). I take a tiny pill for this (and it is helps prevent thyroid cancer) and now my symptoms are gone. Any weight gain is my own fault. :lmao:

] Can I do it?? Trying to figure out what type(s) of exercise to do to get the most benefit, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have an elliptical machine as well as a Soloflex and Wii fit. It's not like I need to join a gym or anything... I'm not even going to weigh myself until tomorrow morning, we're still finishing the junk food around here. One question, when is the best time to exercise in the morning? Before breakfast? After breakfast? How long before or after?? HELP!!!

Yes, you can do it. You are well fitted out, with your in house eqt. Most trainers say exercise about 30 min after a light breakfast but really, what matters is what works for you.

The first couple days of this diet are always the hardest while the body is going into ketosis and you feel like you're starving to death. I might be posting a lot just to complain about hunger pains.
!

It sounds like you have this under control. We'll be here to listen to you complain. ;) Are you going to do fun stuff like snorkeling in the ocean, kayaking, hiking, swimming?

Me, I had lost about 25 lb over the last year, year and a half, very slow but a lot of work, but then gained back about 7 lb of it since some very stressful changes this fall. The holidays have not helped but I am now back to my healthy eating.

I exercise on the elliptical 6 days a week, for 30-60 minutes and do a good hour of weights and routines one day a week. My goal for this week is to up that weight routine to two days a week.

Glad to see Angie, Stacierita, Stacielee, Callie, Christabel, Deb, Vicki and anyone else I missed (can't scroll back that far)!! Let's all get healthy together!:cheer2:

Okay, I am here, but unfortunately I am gaining. :confused3 Why do new boyfriends cause that???? Gary went shopping this weekend and filled my freezer and fridge. He says my fridge looked like a bachelor's fridge. So, I must find the time between all this eating, working tax season and working at the shop to exercise so I don't gain 50 pounds.

Good luck to us all! Thanks for looking at my journey and Beth and Sarah your pics are awesome and inspiring!

This is exciting and I hope to see a BUNCH of skinny minnis come Feb! ;)

I ended up getting a NASTY migraines last night and luckily (after going to bed at 6) I was able to stave it off but I think I am going to have to do a pretty light workout today or it will come right back.

But I knew I was going to have to ease back into my workouts anyway because it has been several months. I had to stop working out back in August when I had my surgery. That plus the bad eating and wa la, add 10 lbs! It is SO frustrating to have to go backwards and know that I have to "re-lose" what I had already lost BUT so be it. The eating is going to be MUCH harder than the exercise. I know once I get back to it that I enjoy it and will have no problem. The ONLY time I get bad about working out is when I don't feel well or I have stuff going on and get distracted. Like today I have to call my doc first thing about getting my meds fixed and when I get fixated on doing something I get distracted. But I actually plan to workout as soon as I drop the girls off (my normal routine) so then I will call AFTER I am done. It doesn't help that I have to go in to work today too AND I have to start on the corp taxes this week. BUT I don't want to let anything stand in my way.

Now the tough part is getting back to eating right. I have managed to lose the weight every time by just cutting back and watching what I eat. I have never had to do any special diets and it actually works really well for me because I am able to eat NORMAL food without anything special. The ONLY reason I have ever gained back is when I have let myself get off my routine but as long as I stick to it which I usually do I am fine. You CAN get off sugar but I have learned it takes a min of 3 weeks to stop craving it and I know how hard it is cuz that is my BIGGEST faux pas! I have found that substitutes are a good thing.

I drink LOTS of water too. I have a bottle of water in my hands at ALL times. I wake up and get one first thing and drink one all day long and even have one next to the bed. I only drink maybe one caf free diet coke a day. I dont' drink coffee at all so my one diet coke is the only splurge I allow myself. For my sweet indulgence I try to stick to fruit or a 1/4 cup serving of non-fat frozen yogurt. I also buy those dove chocolate squares (the dark not milk) and eat 1 square every so often. It is not too bad on calories and gives you a nice little boost once in awhile!

Anyway good luck everyone and look forward to seeing everyone and hearing everyone's progress! :)

YAY Deb, Donna, Vicki, Marcie and Angie are here! We need Jen, our resident coach, cheerleader, and quote provider. :goodvibes

Marcie, new boyfriends always cause weight gain once you get comfortable with them. At first you are all nervous and don't eat much. When Ruben and I first started dating, I didn't eat in front of him for 3 months!!! No dinner plans or nothing. Then once we got comfy with each other, we'd eat all the time!

Tina, I know you can make some awesome low cal meals.

Donna, good work getting back on track!

Callie, I know what you mean about sweets. It's so easy to get used to eating them nightly.

Everyone else, it's Monday!! New week, new year, new you!! One day at a time. Heck, one hour at a time if that's what it takes in the beginning. We can do this!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I just wanted to say to everyone I am so glad to see you all here. We all need the support no matter what our goals or reasons are.

Please do not feel like everytime you post you need to reply to everyone. If you have time, great, if not, you can also just use this thread as a place to vent about frustrations, or post about successes. You can list what you ate, what you did for exercise, post a quick reminder to yourself to drink more water, whatever.

Whatever works for you, is what you need to do. If you want to share your weigh-ins, that's fine. If not, that's okay too. Use this as a tool in whatever way works best for you.
Just don't do what I do, which is stop posting every time I fall off the wagon. I've learned now that whether I'm doing "good" or "bad" coming here helps. :)

Have a healthy day ladies!!!! :yay:

his is SO true!

When Jesus (DBF) and I started dating, I was too scared to eat in front of him. For a couple months. Even during lunch at school. And I’m an eater, who knows what I was afraid of. Then we went through a phase where we baked for each other, like every week. Cookies, cakes, brownies. Now, we just both love to eat and we don’t care!

He’s been dieting for awhile. Cutting out some carbs and he goes for runs in the mornings. He’s much more motivated than I am.

Today I brought left over dinner for lunch. Roasted sweet potatoes, cucumber salad, frozen grapes, deviled eggs and some chicken. I ate a piece of toast with apricot preserves on it for breakfast and I’m drinking lots and lots of water. I have a liter and a half bottle and I want to drink the whole thing plus half before I go home from work. That will be about 8 8 ounce cups.

Here are a few of my helpful tips from the last 7 months...

1) Gum...if I am snacky I can pop a stick of gum for 5 calories and it really helps me not reach into the cupboard.

2) Healthy Choice fudge bars and WW Latte bars. These are between 50 and 100 calories each, are large and are really tasty! Great if I feel the need for a cool treat!

3) Drink all my water for the day before allowing other drinks. I tend to stay on plan better if I drink all my water first.

4) The WW Comfort Classics cookbook! This has some great recipes...it is the first cookbook I actually use on a regular basis and LOVE just about everything I make.

5) Planning healthy meals out ahead of time with dh. That way we are both eating healthy, we are doing something together.

I am doing well so far today. Am on my 3rd bottle of water. Had a chewy granola bar and a cheese stick so far today and am currently chewing gum as I was tempted to eat my sandwich I brought for lunch even though it is only 10am! I am not particularly hungry...just wanted to eat. I have my workout bag packed and in my car so will be going to the gym after work.

Have a great day all!

Afternoon ladies. I did my first workout of the new year. It wasn't TOO bad although I kind of have a headache now. I think it is a combo of cutting back on my eating and the fact that I am sore from working out. I got on the scale and was surprised that with ALL the bad eating I have been doing, esp 2 different birthday cakes, that I was actually DOWN from what I was the last time I weighed myself a few days ago. I was only 163.4 instead of 166 like I thought I was. So that was encouraging. I wasn't as bad off as I thought I was!! :)

So far today I have had a non-fat hot chocolate. Sure not the best thing I know but on work days I get really busy and it is harder to have a good breakfast. I plan to have a good lunch though when mom and I go HOPEFULLY soon cuz I am starving. That is the hard part getting used to eating less! We are having spaghetti for dinner which is not the best but I have learned tricks to making most everything healthier. I buy whole wheat pasta and hamburger with no more than 7% max fat so VERY lean and then use whole tomatoes etc. So try to make it as healthy as possible and then I eat pretty small portions and of course NO bread!

I plan to have a salad or bowl of soup for lunch or maybe some fish! LOVE fish, sorry Beth! :)

Good luck everyone!

Well, I did very well this morning! A WW english muffin and sugar free jam and yogurt for breakfast then I went to the gym for a low impact workout.
For lunch I had WW whole wheat bread and a egg white/yellow pepper scramble.
Now my Dh tells me he got a babysitter and we can go out for dinner and a movie. It's so hard to think about watching the movie without all that popcorn dripping in butter or saying no dessert at my favorite restaurant.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Of course after doing so well with my eating yesterday I had to get on the scale this morning, and I GAINED a pound. Phooey. I know it's to be expected, just my body adjusting, but didn't give me that "keep it up" feeling I wanted.

It's pouring rain here today, so no walk for me and Dan. But I did do a 30 minute workout on the Bowflex (with a lot of help and "can I try?" from the kids). As far as eating goes, I've had a 2 egg omlette for breakfast, a banana as a snack, and a taco salad (just lettuce, turkey taco meat, avocado and salsa) for lunch. It's 4 pm and I am already so hungry for dinner. Thinking I will make chicken breast with green beans and cabbage stir fried in some soy sauce.

Hope everyone else is doing great today and drinking their water!

Hmmm. Taco Bell... That sounds good.

Callie, we're making stir fry mushrooms and cabbage with soy sauce and turkey burgers for dinner.

I didn't finish my ginormous bottle of water today. I finished like half of what I wanted. I'm still drinking water now, but I will try again tomorrow with my big bottle.

Something else I'm trying is to cut out foods with HFCS or CS in it. Right now I'm shooting for "don't eat if it's in the top 5 ingredients". Just trying to eat healthier. Today I messed up and ate apricot preserves and HFCS was the second ingredient. I didn't read the label.

I eat taco bell quite often. If I have a lot of points for dinner I get a chicken grilled stuft borrito no cheese and if I don't I get a couple of fresco beef soft tacos. It helps satisfy that craving.

I went to the gym tonight but wasn't feeling it. I did 20 minutes on the eliptical and about 20 minutes of strength training but I feel good that I went and at least did something!

DH is making greek turkey burgers for dinner tonight - yum! They have feta cheese, and fresh spinach on them and we use sandwich thins and they are delicious.

OMG - O-M-G!!! The scale was really ugly this morning! I had not weighed in months and wow! I have gained 35lbs. since I met Bob...geez! He's probably wondering what he's gotten himself into! My goal is to weigh what's on my drivers license again! (When I got my newest license I could actually tell the truth and feel good about it!)

I did ok today. I had oatmeal for breakfast and then we had left over Panda Express in the fridge that was just calling my name so I ate it for lunch...3 pieces of Orange Chicken and half a serving of fried rice, then for a snack I had grapes and an apple. I put it all in the WW tracking website which is what I really need.

I didn't get any exercise in today. Work was just crazy which I know is not an excuse and now I am honestly just too lazy to go out and walk. But for tomorrow I just marked out an hour for lunch in my Outlook and I am going to go walk!! Keep me to it, y'all!

I did pretty good today, Cheerios for breakfast along with coffee and some creamer and milk. Then did 20 minutes on the elliptical and about 20 minutes on the Soloflex. Drank 4 or 5 20 oz. glasses of water. Had 10 almonds for a snack. Bowl of Progresso soup, light chicken noodle with some extra chicken from last night's dinner, with a few crackers. Cottage cheese and a few crackers. Since that's so much better than I've been doing, I rewarded myself with 1 Pepperidge Farms Milano cookie... YUM!! Good morning and Happy Tuesday everyone!!

Good job to everyone who is doing their best to try and eat right and doing some exercise. Every little bit helps! Look at it this way, if you are are conscious of what you are eating then it is MUCH better than just eating away and NOT paying attention. BELIEVE me. You would be AMAZED at how quickly the calories add up when you are not paying attention.

I have always journaled my food when I am "dieting" although I NEVER say I am on a diet but rather call it a lifestyle choice and I don't ever actually eat "diet" foods. I just watch how many calories I take in in a day. Obviously you can eat a LOT more healthy foods than NON healthy so it certainly makes much more sense to eat a lot of good healthy fruits and veggies and lean meats than junk food but I also don't believe in deprivation diets because they NEVER work. They almost ALWAYS lead to binges. I think everything in moderation is the key!

I have managed to lose weight many times simply by cutting back and I have never had to give up anything. The only reason I EVER gain anything back is when I get lazy and don't stick to my plan but that is my own fault and usually a result of stress or underlying factors in my life that keep me from staying on track.

Anywho I plan to do a light workout today. Yesterday I did my 2 mile walk tape and today I will probably do my strength training but take it easy so as not to hurt myself.

Good luck to everyone. You are all doing awesome!! :)

3 POUND LOSS TODAY!!

Whew, that's more like it! Yeah, yeah, I know it's mostly water, but I'll take it! I looked back at my previous notebook where we kept track of our daily weigh-ins, and I have never, ever started the diet this high in weight. I am 10 lbs heavier than when I started this weight loss program the last 2 times. :( Just gives me incentive to keep on goin!

I want to be down to 155, and I started at 178.5. Ouch, that was hard to write. I hope to be in the 160's come Maui time.

Gotta find some time to do inside aerobics today since it's another typical Pacific Northwest day out there.

Have a great one, ladies!

whew...I finally made it over here! Way to go girls...it is very motivating to read the first 5 pages already! YAY for any kind of weight loss!
I do not own a scale, but last time I weighed at a doctors appt I was 159. I really would love to lose 20 lbs. I have hovered around the 150-160's for 10 years easy! I'm not so much focused on the number as how I look and feel. I hate my stomach, butt and floppy arms and when I see a picture from the back and it shows back fat rolls...ugh!! I hate that alot too!
My main focus is on eating better and moving more...period! I find it really hard to eat enough fruits & veggies, so that is my main push right now. I grocery shop twice a month (big load), but will need to do a fruit & veggie run weekly now to keep it stocked & fresh. I love fruits & veggies, but if they aren't around, I'll reach for something else. I rarely drink soda anymore..once in a while if we go out to eat, a coke sounds good, but its usually water w/ lemon. I used to be a slim fast addict. I drank slim fast twice a day and had a snack bar and then ate dinner. I lost a few lbs here and there, but after 5+ years, I had a really hard time returning to eating food again....it was crazy. I still think I would reach for one if I had them in my fridge.
Last year I found out I was hypothyroid and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease which is an autoimmune thyroid disorder. I also have severe iron defieciency and now have to take iron 3 times a day...this is different then anemia (which I did not know) I have genetic heart disease and take Vytorin and aspirin daily for that. Luckily my cardiologist says my heart is doing fine and my numbers are really good. Last year was a sucky year for me medically with all of the above. So I have really tried to focus on good health since then. It is hard at times and can be hard to fit in, with busy schedules...but we must take care of ourselves girls!!!
I went from taking a multi vitamin daily to taking 6-9 pills daily :(

So now I'm off to work out with my pilates tape and drink some water!
Thanks for this thread!! I feel like you are all watching me now....just don't yell at me like Jillian from the biggest loser...she scares the hell out of me!! LOL

So far, so good for me. I took a 20 minute walk yesterday, and then went shopping at Safeway, Costco and Restaurant Depot, so lots of walking/lifting there. Drank 72 oz of water, had a pb&j on whole wheat toast for lunch and 2 yummy grilled fish tacos for dinner. I did, however, start my day with a breakfast of a piece of fudge. Oops! Today I had a bowl of Special K Blueberry cereal. Pretty tastey!

Kelly, I don't believe in deprivation either. Most anything you are craving can be modified to be more healthy. Nothing is really off limits for me. I just need to watch how much I eat and how I prepare it.

Callie, whoo hoo! 3 pounds gone!!!

Jill, good to see you! Sorry for all the health issues you've had. It's no fun at all, but it sounds like you've got things under control, are seeing your doctors and making good choices for you now.

Tina, good for you on walking and drinking all that water.

Sarah, good luck with the weigh in. I'm suree it'll be fine.

Everyone else, have a good healthy day!!! :cheer2:

Great job! I lost 1.4 pounds in 1 day!! Yeah, water weight, I know, but same as you, I'll take it!! Did my Wii Fit for 30 minutes today, only did aerobic exercises. Tomorrow it's back to the elliptical machine and soloflex.

Looks like a good start for everyone!

I feel like I'm accountable to someone now, with all you ladies on here. Before, it didn't really matter if I did or didn't lose what I wanted to. Now it does! Especially since I'll be seeing most of you next month!:banana:

Good luck with that Beth.

I am doing ok today but the lunch I brought was not fun. It was a tomato vegetable soup and I ended up throwing all the broth away...it was icky. Hope everyone is doing well and drinking their water! I have my meeting tonight so will not be working out but will be going to the gym tomorrow barring any last minute overtime at work.

IS IT DINNER TIME YET????

I'm STARVING!!!

So far today I have had eggs w/shredded brussell sprouts (was delicious, btw), a banana, and for lunch a pinto bean bowl with taco meat, cabbage, avocado and salsa.

I'm running out of veggies and did I mention I'M STARVING???!!!!! Guess I'll make a cupa tea. . . :(

Sounds yummy! I have had a chewy granola bar, a cheese stick and part of a can of tomato vegetable soup that was awful. I am getting pizza after I weigh it! I love it when I have a bunch of extra points at the end of the day and can get something tasty without feeling guilty! In case anyone is wondering. 1 Little Ceasars hot and ready pepperoni pizza is about 50 points total. Divide those amongst the number of slices and it comes out to 5 to 7 points a slice! Very doable!

Ladies- I am new to this thread and I am looking forward to being a part of it. My goal is to lose 10 lbs before our March 5th drip (March 7th cruise on Wonder) - I managed to lose about 6 of those pounds before the holidays to get into a rather small black dress but then I enjoyed myself over the holidays. I only began yesterday as I continued to "enjoy" the weekend. So far so good though - I have gotten up and out to the gym both days at 5 am and the eating is going okay. I am not counting calories but I am giving up diet soda and chips (my fav are salt and vinegar). i am also trying really hard to eat more fruit. So good luck to us all.....and thanks.

Afternoon all! Sounds like everyone is doing great!

Beth I SO know how you feel. I haven't even ATTEMPTED to put on some of my jeans and some of the others are pretty tight. EEK! I HATE that uncomfortable feeling. BLEH! But we are going to be feeling great soon! I know it! ;)

Yesterday mom and I went to the salad bar which I LOVE cuz I can actually eat healthy and it tastes good!! Then last night I had my pasta and even though I don't do my OFFICIAL weigh ins till Mondays I always weigh myself daily just to make sure I am not going nuts and I KNOW that you can go up or down on a daily basis and it doesn't really mean much but at least for now I was still the same which at least made me "mentally" feel good :) I will take the same over going up! ;)

This morning I was good and had a small bowl of low sugar oatmeal. And as always have been drinking my water all day. I had a very small serving (about 1 cup) of leftover spaghetti for lunch and I am making a carne asada, some type of veggie and probably rice for dinner. I did my belly butt and thigh strength training tape and it kicked my butt! WHEW! Man I have gotten out of shape! When Shane gets back to working full time I want to get a wii fit. I have all my tapes but I want something different.

Anyway keep up the good work everyone! :)

OMG! We have had more posts on this thread in the last few days than we had on our last thread in like three months. Woohoo ladies!! :woohoo:

After two weeks of eating and not exercising, I made it to a gym this morning. Gyms are so busy in January! Anyway, I felt pretty pathetic -- couldn't do cardio for more than 25 minutes, couldn't do a push up and kept noticing that tire around my belly. How come it takes so long to get fit, but my body turns to jello so quickly. Anyway, good news is that the exercise at least was a mental pick up and I feel so much better energy wise.

I have not stepped on a scale since September and have no intention of stepping on one. Not yet. Just trying to get back into the swing of things for healthy living right now and I'll worry about the scale a little later.

Good luck everyone!!! You can do it!!!:cheer2:

I think my problem is that I wait too long to eat, so then I over-eat. I tried to start the day off right with some cereal, but then I started working and just picked as I was cooking. I think I had 2 meatballs, and that was it until I was doing my deliveries this evening. I have some of those mini candy canes in my car, so I had one. Then I did some shopping at Trader Joes, and it was about 5:00, so I just had to get those Peppermint Joe Joes (pretty much oreos with crushed candy canes mixed in the filling). I hope you are all pround of me when I say that I stopped myself at about FIVE COOKIES!!!!!! Well, I came home, made dinner (pork chops, rice and green salad).
Now back to work!

Well that is good to know. I'm not a big pizza lover, but its still good to know. I have a neat book my endocrinologist gave me that lists all the fast food places and what is best to order....if you are eating there. I'm not a big fast fooder for the most part, but I did learn about the Taco Bell Fresco menu and it is really good too :) Thanks for sharing the WW tidbits with us :)

I did pretty good today, had my heart healthy bowl of cheerios with non fat milk and a small banana, 2 tangerines mid morning, a tuna fish sandwich with a dab of lite mayo and small handfull of plain chips, 2 buck eye balls that were begging me to eat them and for dinner the family was having bratwursts, but Beau wanted to use his subway gift card so I had him pick me up a 6" turkey w/ mustard, lettuce, tomatoe, salt & pepper. I've had water all day long and did a dance cardio video this morning. I'm already feeling the effects of that, so I'm thinking I'll be feeling it when I climb out of bed tomorrow.

Good luck to those weighing in! :woohoo:

Sarah, When you first started WW did you feel hungry all the time? I don't know if I'm not eating enough filling foods or if it's just because I'm used to stuffing myself to the point of needing stretchy pants:)

I've done very well today. Drinking only water and I took my lunch to work which works very well. I had a Mediterranean chicken sandwich on WW whole wheat, yogurt and a mandarin orange. For dinner I had a tuna sandwich with dill pickles and lots of romaine lettuce. Once the kids go to bed I'll pop some popcorn.

It takes a bit to figure out what foods work for you to make you feel full while still being within your points. Also you are focused on food right now and once you can just eat what you are supposed to eat and focus on other things like cleaning your house or crocheting or playing with the kids things get easier...plus I eat a little bit every couple hours and that has helped shrink my stomach...I used to eat 1/2 a pizza and still have room now I can only eat 2-3 pieces and I feel completely satisfied! You have to commit to this ladies. This isn't a joke it's our lives. It's important. It's more important than that piece of cake or that fast food burger. Pop the gum and feel better about yourself...you can do it!

SarahThat is so true! I started realizing that if there is that much fat that I can see, how much more there must be inside surrounding all my internal organs and I started worrying that they would stop working as well as they should. So it became a matter of health mostly. I try not to go more than 3 hours without eating and then eat 100-200 calories at a time. It keeps your metabolism burning so you won't store calories as fat.

I think my problem is that I wait too long to eat, so then I over-eat. I tried to start the day off right with some cereal, but then I started working and just picked as I was cooking. !

I've been to the gym daily but found when I go daily I cannot do 50 min on the elliptical, but 30-35. So then you wonder, is it better to go every other day and do 55-60 or every day and do 30? I'm guessing daily.

Sara keep up the good work. You know all the tricks and I know you will be right back to losing in no time!

Welcome to our new friends and good luck to you!!

I was pretty sore yesterday after my workout but LUCKILY I knew better than to push too hard and hurt myself as I have done that in the past and then couldn't continue the next day. I know now to build up to it so I am not as sore today! Last night I had about a 1/2 cup serving of the carne asada, 1 cup of plain steamed spinach and 1 cup of pinto beans.

Then I did have about 1/4 cup of my non fat yogurt for desert.

Today I plan on doing another cardio tape. So we shall see. So far my scale is staying the same and although I would LOVE to see it go down by monday I know that the last few times I went on a diet it took a few weeks before the weight started to come off. SOOO we shall see.

I am just so glad to have this site to go through this with you all. You are right it really helps to have others to share your journey with.

Have a GREAT day everyone and good luck on your eating and exercise! :)

I'm halfway through my second 1.5 pt bottle of water (yay for work, supplying free spring water!) and I am going to have yogurt & pineapples for lunch in just a few minutes here. Had an orange for breakfast, a big ol' navel, and then discovered I was out of my healthy snacky stuff that I usually keep in my office :guilty: so I had about a cup of Cheerios for "elevensies". Eating more than three times a day is hard!!

I lost an additional 2.5 lbs, for a total of 5.5 lbs so far! I love the instant weight loss on this plan it really gives me the encouragement to stick with it. Now since I'm at 173, I know I'll be able to make it into the 160's for sure by Maui time!

Awesome goal, Sarah! Like others said, talk to Jen about this.

Pretty good day for me so far. I had a bowl of Special K Blueberry again this morning. Stopped at Starbucks on the way to my client's house and got a nonfat gingerbread latte. I didn't even look at the pastries. I had a light cheese stick for a snack (only 2.5g of fat). I also had about 5 dried apricots.
For lunch (around 3:00 by the time I got to it) I ate my bbq chicken salad and 1 peanutbutter cookie.
However, when I got home, I found the loveliest note in the mail from Dawn's hubby and got super emotional. So I ate another cookie just for our Dawnikins. I did stop myself at that though! So far I've had 72 oz of water, and I'm getting ready to fill up that bottle again. I have a ton of work to do around the house still, but I think I'll take a 30 minute walk while I stll have some sunlight.

WW Chili

1 pound lean ground turkey
2 garlic cloves - finely chopped
2 Tbsp. Chili Powder
1 tsp. ground cumin
1 28 oz can crushed tomatos (with or without Tomato paste)
1 15oz can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 sweet onion, chopped
1/4 cup canned diced chilis (1 4.5 oz can)

Directions:
In a large non-stick skillet cook meat and garlic over medium heat, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up meat, until browned; drain. Add chili powder and cumin, stir to combine. Combine tomatos, beans, onion, and chilies in slow cooker; stir in meat mixture. Cover and cook on high until the flavors are blended...approx 5 hours.

Serves 4 at approx 3 points per serving (may differ depending on exact ingredients you put in)

Note:
My husband and I like to double this recipe and have leftovers for the whole week! Yum!
I fed this to my brother and he had no idea it was a WW recipe...he loved it!

I hope you enjoy!

I've just started doing smaller meals throughout the day. I never really understood it before, but I think I've found a healthy balance. Mix that with exercise and and instead of gaining weight, I'm losing it. I've also cut most of my sugar intake. :thumbsup2 But like I said, only time will tell if it's working.

Good morning all! It's a NEW day and every day you can start anew! I have always said even if you have a bad day or weekend there is ALWAYS the next day or week. I know sometimes it hard and discouraging ESP when the scale seems to NEVER move or worse go UP! EEK! But eventually it WILL go down and then you feel GREAT and like you can conquer the world. And when your clothes start getting lose again. AHHH what a feeling!

I can't WAIT for that feeling. I remember the pants I have NOW being so lose they were almost falling OFF and now yesterday they were super tight. UGH! BUT it gives me motivation to lose! Esp since I bought this REALLY cute pair of shorts at DL and they LOOKED huge but they didn't have a changing room so I just had to buy without trying them on and sure enough they didn't FIT huge. They were REALLY snug! Now they wouldn't fit at ALL. That was when I still weighed 155! So that is part of my goal is to fit "comfortably" into those shorts and to "someday" look halfway decent in a bathing suit! Now THAT is a challenge LOL. I have those lovely muffin tops on my thighs. Even when I have lost weight they seem to get worse instead of better cuz I lose on the REST of my leg except the very tops so it makes it more pronounced. BLECK!

But again it is incentive!

Good luck to everyone and have a GREAT day with your eating and workouts!! :)

This week has been okay for me, but this weekend I've got plans with Theresa, Amy and Jane. Plans for dining and drinking! So we'll see what happens. Regardless, come Monday, I know I'll be back on track.

Like I suspected, no weight loss on the scale for me today, but after 5.5 lbs. over 4 days, I'm not complaining!! I think I need to start weighing out my food. I've been ignoring that part of the diet and just estimating.

Stickin with it and hoping for a good cardio walk later today. Kendall is sick with a bad headcold, so I think we'll stay home from HomeConnections which will give me the extra time I need to get a walk in.

Mmmm. . . oatmeal raisin cookies are my favorite. . . :love::love:

Today is the first day where I have started to feel deprived. This diet is pretty strict, and outside of my 1 banana a day (which I get for potassium purposes), am not allowed any other fruit or sugar. Basically I get to have lean meat, eggs, and veggies, and that's it. Oh, except for the lovely GUM! Bleh!

I want a COOKIE!!! (sulks away into the kitchen to get her banana).

Well, I had chicken for lunch, grapes for snack, and now I'm eating smoked oysters. Why am I eating smoked oysters you ask? Because I was getting really hungry and I didn't know what else to eat that wasn't a bad carb. And boy oh boy did I ever want to eat some bad carbs. But instead, in my fuzzy-minded desperation mode, I snatched that can of smoked oysters and a toothpick to eat them with and just started digging in. Yeah, they're just as good as chips or cookies or bread or cereal or crackers. NOT! :headache:

And now for the RECIPE of the DAY!

Grape Chicken Caesar Wraps

Ingredients:
1 large Low Carb Whole Wheat tortilla (like la tortilla factory)
1 cup shredded romaine lettuce
1/2 cup halved seedless grapes
2 oz sliced, grilled, skinless, boneless chicken breast
1 Tbsp Low Fat caesar dressing
1 Tbsp shredded parmesan cheese

Directions:
Place tortilla on flat surface. Arrange lettuce, grapes and chicken along the center of tortilla about 2" from top and bottom edge; drizzle with dressing and sprinkle with cheese. Fold outer edges inward over filling to enclose; place seam-side down. Enjoy. This comes to approxamately 6 points with WW.

This is one of my dh and my all time favorites. It is super easy and delish!

Yes, as a matter of fact, I will single-handedly keep this thread at the top for the foregoing reasons:

1. I miss my honey and am bored

2. I'm avoiding the cake smell wafting form the kitchen

3. I need to tell someone what I've been eating so they can feel as sorry for me as I do for myself

4. I'm secretly hoping someone will send me a cookie

5. I'm tired of reading boring "bra color" statuses on facebook.

So, y'all ready to hear what I made for dinner? I bet you are! :thumbsup2

Chopped up 3.5 oz of chicken breast and sauteed in a pan with onion and seasonings, I added a small can of green chilis and poured it over the top of a bed of cabbage. Sounds delicious, no? :confused3:sad2:

I skyped with Dan tonight and watched him eat a fresh orange that he picked off our tree. He said it was sweeter than candy. TORTURE PEOPLE!!

Here's my food log gor today:
Banana for breakfast
Orange for a snack
Bowl of Special K Blueberry for lunch

I also drank by 96oz of water, so I'm feeling pretty good.

Good morning and TGIF ladies!

Boy do I know how much it sucks to eat well, and less, that is why I think it is VERY important to find good and healthy things to eat but NOT to make yourself feel deprived in any way. That always seems to lead to binges in my book. I have always eaten pretty much whatever I wanted but just cut WAY back on portion sizes etc and always managed to lose.

I wouldn't completely do away with sweets I would just eat LESS or find substitutes like fruit or sugar free/fat free stuff if possible. Healthy choice and WW makes great desert stuff. Or like I said I buy the dove dark chocolate pieces and eat one or two every so often when I have a craving and that little bit won't hurt you and it REALly helps and then if you DO eat a little too much just add a little extra to your workout to burn it off. :)

I did my kick boxing workout yesterday and I am still pretty weak and sore but I did it none the less. My eating started out ok but wasn't NEARLY as good as it should have been. I had my oatmeal for breakfast but then I was doing taxes for several hours and ended up not getting lunch till almost 2 and had a taco from taco bell. Then for dinner we went to moms and I had a pig in a blanket (steak with bacon) and some green beans and a small serving of mashed potatoes. Then we had a brownie with a little ice cream for desert.

NOT the best day for eating. I DID show a 1 lb loss yesterday but I prob gained it all back with just my crappy eating yesterday LOL. But as I always say today is a new day. I plan to workout here in a few after I take the girls to school and then go in to work. THAT can be a challenge cuz mom and I always go out for lunch but I have been forcing her to go to healthier places like the salad bar. So hopefully we will do that again today!! :)

Anyway keep up the good work everyone! You are all doing awesome and don't get discouraged. Like Beth said it is SO worth the final outcome and you will look and FEEL amazing in the end!!! :)

So far this week I've lost 6 pounds. That's the good news.

The bad news is:
1. We are going out all weekend and I am sure to gain it all back. lol
2. I gained like 15 pounds back over the holidays so this is not additional weight loss, but rather me just trying to get back to a spot I was already at.

Oh well. I did go shopping last night and stocked up on healthy items for Monday so I can get right back on track!!

Have a wonderful weekend ladies!!! Make conscientious choices. If you do splurge let it be on something you really want and make it worthwhile, not just mindless eating, kwim?
Keep up with the water and exercise. And remember, you can do this!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Kelly, you're preaching to the choir for me. Normally I would say the exact same thing. I have done really well in the past by just cutting back on portion sizes and upping my exercise. The diet I am doing is specifically to lose the most weight in 3 weeks so I don't feel like a beached whale in Maui. I understand it's self-torture, but it's what it takes for my body to lose weight quickly. Otherwise I end up losing 1 pound a week (which I know is much healthier), but I need to lose 15-20 lbs, not 3. After I get back from Maui I'll be off this ridiculous diet and back to eating healthier.

I lost another pound this morning which brings my total to 6.5 lbs since Monday. :goodvibes

Hope you all have a happy and healthy day.

I've done good so far this week, the scale says 5 pounds less than it did on Monday, so my goal of 10 lost by our trip looks like a reality, as long as I don't mess up.

Christine and I cooked today, I do the "cook for a month" kind of thing. I think we made about 12 meals, and have about 4 more to do tomorrow. I love having the stuff in the freezer. It's not REAL healthy, but not REAL bad either. I just try to eat less and have a big salad with dinner. Tonight I'm going out to dinner with some girlfriends so that's always hard...

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and gets lots of exercise!! I know I won't so you all have to make up for me! ;)

I think it's a great idea to make your meals ahead of time. Even if they aren't totally "diet" food, they've got to be much better than what you'd eat if you didn't have a plan. I know that when I plan out meals, I do pretty good. But when I don't, we end up eating out, which costs more money and is really difficult to keep healthy.

I feel like I've been doing well today, and trying to eat a little something every 2-3 hours is working for me.
So my food log for the day is:
Special K Blueberry
Banana
String Cheese
4 stalks of celery with 2 heaping tablespoons of peanutbutter

I went to the store and bought a steak to grill tonight, and I'll sautee up some onions and mushrooms to go with it. We'll also have a big salad and probably baked sweet potatoes again. (they were really yummy last night!)

Hi all...sounds like everyone is having some decent results...keep up the good work ladies! I am doing pretty well today. My work out went well and my eating has been ok. I had a couple points I hadn't planned on but it will work out since I still have lots of weekly allowance points left for the week and no big plans. DH is cooking dinner tonight so that is nice. I am going to try to work out tomorrow since I know I won't have an opportunity to get to the gym Sunday since I am working 8-4 and the kids have swim lessons in the next town over at 440! I think my body could use that break though. 5 days a week is enough for me! Don't forget to drink your water!

Good morning all. Well I had MY usual frustration hit me. THIS is what always gets ME. I started out at one weight on monday and I was only able to workout 3 times this week and I HAVE been cutting back and trying to eat better but I know I haven't eaten AS good as I could have but def better than I was and I am a LOT more conscientious. BUT I stayed the same weight for three days THEN I went down a pound on Thur which is normally what happens. IF I am going to lose a pound that week it usually comes off by the end of the week and if I am LUCKY and I can hold onto it throughout the weekend then it will be the same come monday. But yesterday since our heater broke I couldn't work out and then for lunch yesterday I had some pasta. Not much cuz I didn't like it but still. So I weighed myself yesterday and I not only was NOT the same as thursday I had gone UP to 164 from 162.4. Then this morning I weighed AGAIN and I was 164.8. ARG! THAT is what po's me is I can stay the same ALL dang week busting my butt, working out, eating right and FINALLY lose one lousy pound and then have ONE lousy day where I don't work out or eat a LITTLE bad and I can go up 2 lbs in a day. I KNOW it is all prob water but it still annoys the hell outta me. I know I will get it back off but it REALLY discourages a person. I don't EVER add salt or sugar to my food but I know that it is IN so many things and I have NOT been eating much at all. But obviously WHAT I have been eating is not good. SOOO it is back to the drawing board. GRRRR. I usually don't work out on the weekends either cuz I like to do my workouts first thing in the morning and we have WAY too much going on most weekends. Sports and then church and it is impossible to do it anyway with Shane and the kids in my way!

I have some leftover money that I got from my birthday last year that I have been saving and saving and I think I am going to get me a wii fit. I like my tapes but I want something different and I love to play the way and it definitely gets me moving so maybe with something a little more interesting I will be more motivated. I just NEED to get my eating better!

Good luck to everyone and congrats on all your results!

Oh Kelly, I know EXACTLY where you are at. I'm so sorry. My body is super stubborn and holds onto weight I've put on. That's why I have to shock it with something pretty drastic to see those initial numbers come off for me. I have to be honest and say the Wii Fit was not a good exercise program for me. It's fun, and a better activity than sitting at the computer, but as far as an aerobic workout goes, it just never fit the bill for me. Too many breaks inbetween activities where you are waiting for the new game to load and the trainer to do his thing. I hope you find something you like and works for you. Hugs!

Well, I had success with the cake last night. Even the kids said the icing was gross (I think they are using cheap icing for the decorating class). I'm throwing away the rest of the cake this morning with the kids' blessing!

Weigh in this morning -- 170.5 for a total of 8 lbs lost! The morning weigh-ins are the only thing keeping me going on this thing.

Today we're heading to Seattle to pick up Dan and I'm taking the kids to the aquarium first. I've already planned a meal at Red Robin so I can have a protein burger and salad with no dressing. Dan is bringing me back my first "cheat treat" -- an orange off our tree in Phoenix. I can't wait to eat it!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend with limited binges and lots of water!

And now for the RECIPE of the DAY!

Haggen's Apple Chicken Salad

Ingredients:
2 chicken breasts, poached and shredded
3 apples (cameo, gala, grannysmith) diced
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup toasted pine nuts
1/3 cup fresh chopped basil
1/3 cup lite mayo
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
Romaine lettuce - as much as you want!

Directions:
Combine chicken, apples, raisins, pine nuts and basil in a large bowl. Combine mayo, lemon juice, salt and pepper in a small bowl; stir well with whisk. Add mayo mixture to chicken mixture, tossing well to coat. Serve on romaine lettuce or flatbread.

So I snuck a peak at the scale this morning and I am down to tied with the lowest I have been since having my ds over 4 1/2 years ago. I am the weight I was the morning my son went into the hospital. He ended up having to be intubated and made unconsious to have a biopsy done and an ultrasound. Turns out he had a meth resistant staff infection in his jaw (he was 1 1/2). At first they thought it was cancer and were going to send us down to childrens hospital.:scared1: Needless to say my diet went out the window at that point and I am just now getting back to where I was then (3 years later!) He is fine and healthy now, but what a scare then...it happened a couple weeks before the first ladies trip to WDW! I had gained 13 lbs in those 2 weeks so I am already below the lowest that Beth has ever seen me at!

Cheers ladies,

PS don't forget to drink that water!

Thanks Callie. Yeah it is frustrating but I know it will all workout eventually. Once things settle down a bit and I can get on a regular workout routine and get my eating under control. I give you a lot of credit for doing what you are doing and I could prob do it if I HAD to for something like a trip like what you are doing but it is tough! I know it doesn't help when Shane REFUSES to stop eating junk around me. He buys chips by the LARGE bag and eats two or three bags a WEEK! Plus he likes candy and crap and luckily he doesn't eat a lof the things I like like cake or cookies and I am not a big candy eater so that doesn't cause too many problems but if and when we get fast food he eats like a horse and I KNOW he is just trying to be "nice" but he always gets me BAD stuff. I have to remind him to get me the child's burger or a plain whatever or NO fries etc.

Congrats on the loss! You will look GREAT in Hawaii! :)

I will get back on the horse but I totally agree with you. Seeing those little triumphs on the scale REALLY help motivate and when you stay the same for days or even worse go UP it REALLY discourages. BUT everyday is a new day soooo we will just start over. :)

Enjoy your hubby and the acquarium! and that orange!! ;)

My eating has been pretty good the last 2 days. My working out is another story. I may have been a little too ambitious to get in shape. You're doing great. I have also lost weight by having more frequent small meals. Just the opposite of how we'll eat at DL, but thank goodness that is only a few days!

BTW, yams (and I guess sweet potatoes) have a low glycemic index I've been told... so they don't raise your blood sugar as fast as other foods. A good thing and yummy.:thumbsup2

Cheers ladies,
Sarah

PS don't forget to drink that water!

Oh, Sarah, I know that ride well. I am so glad it turned out well. Look at you, a new low!!!:cheer2:

My eating has been pretty good the last 2 days. My working out is another story. I may have been a little too ambitious to get in shape. After 15 years of doing nothing I went to the gym 3 times in a week. This morning my thighs are so sore I can hardly move. Going down stairs is torture. The girls had work had quite the laugh about it:(

I totally identify with this. Okay, so now you know. Ease back into exercise.

I am eating much better now that the holidays are over and when I do eat something that's a little indulgence (meaning like a fatty meat), I make up for it by cutting back on dinner. Didn't make it to the gym today but will tomorrow.

Cheers all you wonderful divas (holding my glass of water to toast yours)!

Wow! This thread sure has been active. Can't even keep up! This used to be the slow thread I could actually read. ;)But I am very very happy to see it so active

While I was at Disneyland, I managed to hit the gym a couple days for a little bit of cardio which made me feel so much better. Plus I did a ton of walking. Skipped exercise today and ate a ton, but will try to get some form of vigorous exercise in tomorrow, even if just for 20 or 30 minutes. Need to get my blood flowing to keep me healthy.

Must admit that I have been avoiding all news of the WDW marathon. I would have really loved to have done that marathon for my 40th, but it just wasn't in the cards with our move to Switzerland and then the family coming over for the Christmas holidays. I'm bummed that I am not in the shape I was before I left for Switzerland and hope that I will have some more time to get to more exercise (and hopefully running) in this new year. I wish there were some friendly Disney type half marathons in Europe.

I have no new years resolutions for 2010. At this point I'm just trying to get a handle on the decision we made to move to Switzerland for two years and make this a success. And getting another job would also be a good thing. I don't have any head space to think of more new stuff to add to the new year.

Good morning all. Jen glad you enjoyed your visit "home" and I KNOW you will get right back in shape again because you are VERY dedicated! Keep up the great work and good luck on the job front!!

I didn't have the best week OR weekend. Yesterday we were gone most of the day with the basketball and soccer and then when we came home I had laid out a turkey breast a few days ago but then we never ate it and I was a little nervous about it's viabliity so we got some coupons for CJ's and they had this awesome looking salad that I wanted to try. It had chicken, apples, cranberries, walnuts and crumbles of feta cheese on a bed of various types of lettuce with a raspberry vinagrette dressing. YUM! I don't THINK it was too bad calorie wise and it sure was tasty. I am not a huge salad eater OR veggies in general so I have to kind of force myself to do that but when it has good flavors like those I LOVE it!

Anyway then last night I went to bed and woke UP with a stupid headache. That happens every so often and I don't know if I slept wrong or what but it kind of feels like sinus cuz my head is all stopped up soooo I just took some sudafed and some excedring and hopefully that will help.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a NEW day and I will feel good enough to workout! I HATE when this happens because stuff like this does all the time. I go along great and then I either go out of town, have a bad eating time like holidays or something or I get hurt or sick and get off my routine. BUT I guess as long as you just get back on the horse as soon as you can that's the best you can do! So that is my plan. I hope to get in as many workouts as I can next week and keep trying to eat as best I can.

I am still thinking about the wii fit only because I have had my same workout tapes for years and although I enjoy them I want a change. I realize not everyone likes it but I am going to at least look into it because I DO like the games on the wii so anything that is different might be good. We shall see.

Anyway have a GREAT day and rest of the weekend everyone and keep up the good work!!

So I checked the scale again today (bad habit I know) and it was up a bit. I am bummed because I worked out hard yesterday and ate fairly well. I wonder if I am not eating enough. I have really uped my workouts and I wonder if my body thinks it is not getting enough food and is deciding to hold on to all that. My dh and I were going to go to subway for dinner tonight before the movie...finally going to see Princess and the Frog!...but maybe we will go to Taco Bell instead. Also I will not be working out today! I worked out the last 4 days in a row (and hard!) and will work out monday (my wi at ww is tuesday.)

Hope you all are having a great day!

Mmmmm, fresh, juicy, sweet orange picked yesterday from our tree. . .

HEAVENLY!!! :cloud9:

Red Robin's protein burger with a side of steamed broccoli was awesome. Really, really tasty.

Today's weigh-in put be down another 1.5 lbs. So I'm hoping for a 10 pound banner by Monday! It's a gorgeous day so I'm sure Dan and I will go for a walk and hopefully use the Bowflex as well. I am SOOOOOO glad he's home! :goodvibes

Happy Sunday to you all!

Sarah-

Don't check the scale everyday! It will drive you crazy. With all this exercise, I recommend you start adding in some other ways to measure your progress, like waist measurements. I bet you will see that you ARE making progress. Exercise is like the most important single thing you can do for your health. I am so proud of you. Are you giving yourself all your points for exercise? Maybe you do need to eat a bit more. Though I promise empty taco Bell calories will not help you drop pounds. ;). Or you may be getting more muscle. Keep doing the process and the results WILL follow. Maybe not that day but they ARE happening. This is a lifestyle and you are building good habits that will last through the years.

Callie:

Congrats on the weight loss and will power. Though I do not recommend that the rest of us measure our progress compared to your results as this is a very severe program that you are on that would be almost impossible to keep up longterm. But I hope that you get the results you are hoping for to make you feel better on your vacation.

I did a run this morning. Just 25 minutes but felt great to move

Be healthy and smile ladies!

And congrats on giving up the coffee!

Kelly, if you get Wii fit, be sure you buy Wii fit plus. It is the new improved version and they shouldn't even be selling the old Wii Fit (which I have). The Plus has more seamless exercise. Mine there is a lot of stop and start.

I don't feel that Wii fit is enough of a workout, meaning it's a good addition to a fitness program, but it shouldn't be the only thing someone does.

So I checked the scale again today (bad habit I know) and it was up a bit. I am bummed because I worked out hard yesterday and ate fairly well. I wonder if I am not eating enough. It could be that. It could be too much sodium one day. There are flucuations so just watch and adjust. I know that there is a school of thought that is against daily weigh ins. However, there are also established programs that do daily weigh-ins (Lindora is one). Either one can work, it is not that one is bad. It's what works for you.

I personally can gain a lot in a week if I don't keep track, so I like the daily weigh ins. I find when I try to ignore the scale, I'm not as accountable for what I eat and how much I exercise that day. Since eating and exercise are daily events, I prefer to know my weight so I can make adjustments as needed. It can teach you, for example, that the grocery store sushi you had for lunch was not as good for weight loss as you hoped.

But I fully support anyone who chooses to weigh in once a week or never, using a tape measure instead of a scale. Whatever works for you is the bottom line.

Hi all - Sorry I haven't been on here much but work has gotten so busy that I don't have a lot of time but I did stick to the diet plan last week. Didn't get any exercise in but plan to get that in next week since I am traveling this week starting tomorrow, Dallas and then Las Vegas for the weekend. It'll be challenging traveling but I'm going to try to stick as close to plan as I can.

Good news is that I am down 4lbs. so I was happy with that.

I hope everyone has a great week! I'll try to check in but probably won't post until next week.

Morning all. Well I got up today and had my usual oatmeal and water and then I did my 2 mile walking tape. I am still SOOOO out of shape so until I get a little more energy it is tough BUT I am taking it each day at a time. I didn't even want to weigh myself cuz I KNEW it was a bad weekend food wise but I did and it was not too bad. I was 164.2 which is still up from last week but DOWN from the last time I weighed myself. SOOO it could be worse I suppose.

Anyway need to run but keep up the good work everyone!!

Hi ladies! I'm getting to the really hard part of this diet where the scale slows down and my hunger levels are insane. This is where I always have to push myself through the pain of not eating anything yummy and keep going with eating basically the same thing every day. Really hard, but in the end it will be worth it, I know.

The scale actually went up for me today, which is kinda disappointing, but I put on my favorite Seven Jeans and my muffin top is much MUCH less, so I am claiming that as my victory.

My exercise today was ice skating for 2 hours straight and man do my feet hurt! I got new arch supports and was excited to go for a walk, but it's raining today so I'll probably wait till tomorrow.

Keep claiming those victories ladies, no matter how large or small. Love hearing all the positive reports!

Getting the excercise in had been a challenge for me. Marty's back is still not 100%, so I am really running around a lot, trying to get everything done. Add that to the fact that he is currently sitting next to me and eating a stack of Oreos..........

Food log for the day:
String Cheese
Yogurt
Banana
Lots of Water
1 Oatmeal Cookie
Nonfat Gingerbread Latte
Roast Turkey Breast
Steamed Broccoli
Corn Casserole

I'm hoping to get a good walk in tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be home before dark.

Congrats to everybody for sticking with it!

I did fine on food today. Didn't get to the gym because I ended up taking my dd to the doctor right after work. She has double pink eye and an ear infection. Anyway, between trying to find childcare for her for the next few days and trying to get her perscriptions filled it has been crazy but Glenn made a really great dinner tonight. It was a pulled chicken sandwich from the WW comfort classic cookbook! Yum!

Have a great day and keep on going ladies we can do it!

veggie stuffed burgers and a salad

Dan and I just finished doing Bowflex. Between that and skating I KNOW I will be sore tomorrow.

I haven't posted on this thread in awhile! Glad to see everyone starting to reach their goals! Keep it up, girls!

I'm starting to keep a food log so I can track and see what's causing my stomach pains. So here's today so far, well up to lunch because I don't know what's for dinner.

FOOD LOG:

whole grain English muffin with melted skim milk cheddar cheese
1/2 orange
salad with olives, pepperonchinis, salami, ham and fat free Italian dressing
whole Fuji apple with Laughing Cow cheese wedge
small cup of rice salad with peas and green onions

Courtney, I hope your food log is able to help you pinpoint your stomach issues!

Sarah, sorry about your dd's illness. I hope you are able to find childcare and that she's feeling better real soon.

I figured out this morning why the scale is stuck for me. AF decided to make a visit today, 5 days early!! Guess my diet/weight loss forced an early visit.

Dan saw some great numbers this morning so he says we'll stick with it a few more days. But I tell ya, I'm getting really, REALLY tired of eggs for breakfast!

Callie, sorry about AF, that was mean of her!

I am home with dd today as the childcare I had lined up backed out. Oh well, I am trying to get lots done. I am eating well...weigh in is tonight. I don't think I will see a loss or very much of one which really makes me angry since I worked out hard and ate on plan this week. I mean really, what's up with that. I seem to lose better when I don't work out! It makes it hard to stay motivated to work out when I see that pattern!

Sarah

PS DD seems to be feeling ok and is dealing with the eye drops really well for only being 18 mo.

Yucky AF! I'm dreading her visit, because she always brings along 3-5lbs of luggage with her. Good things she takes it all with her when she leaves. I tend to get discouraged when she's around though.

Ok, so I was just about to start typing when I heard my ds in his bedroom (he's supposed to be sleeping) doing the ah ah ah's from the Little Mermaid! :lmao: He makes me smile!

I had weigh in tonight and I was down 3 so down a total of 2 since the new year what with the 1 lb gain from NYE last week. I am pleased with that loss, especially since my scale this morning was not encouraging. I think it was that taco junk we had made. The points are fine and it tasted great but I think it had too much sodium in it. Good to know anyway. I am going to try to get back to the gym tomorrow...haven't been since Saturday.

Dh's personal training class started back up tonight. He was so excited! I am glad he has found something he enjoys so much and he has finally made me a plan that is a good compromise between what he wanted me to do and what I wanted to do in the gym so I am happy.

Have a great night all and don't forget to drink that water!

Well, I confess! I'm another one that fell off the wagon. I am right back to square one at my highest weight ever (so far, right?). I guess that is what happens when I sit in my office everyday, eat what ever I want, and never excercise!

Recently I have been looking at videos from when my oldest was little (13 years ago) until current. I am so unhappy with how I have let myself go. So, I am turning it around girls. I know I can do it, because I did it before. The last time I managed to loose weight I had joined the curves weight loss program after having already established an excercise program there. My curves has closed, so that is not an option.

Last night I got online and joined weight watchers. I do excercise already now, with the bowflex and most currently with the wii fit. I have not been terribly consistent though, so have set my points according to no activity. So, hoping that will serve as incentive to excercise more regularly, so I can have more points.

I am really motivated by your commitment and support and am terribly impressed with the results that you have had.

I would love to hear about any ww tips you have. What are your favorite 0-1 point foods. How do you get your chocolate without blowing your points??

So that's it for now. Hope you all have a great day!

Welcome to WW. If you look back a bit on the thread you will see some recipes that I have put up that are compatible with ww. 12 m&m's are 1 point. I make sure to eat a little something every couple hours...for instance...
7am - 1 chewy granola bar, 1 bottle water, 1 multi vitamin (2pts)
10am - 1 string cheese (2pts)
12pm - 1 lean cuisine (5pts)
2pm - 1 small apple (1pt)
gym
5:30pm - dinner
7:30pm - Healthy Choice fudge bar (2pts)

Also I have gum on hand - 5 calories and helps with the oral fixation needs!

Sarah--Regarding the daycare situation, as a person who ran a family childcare center for 14 or so years, I have to tell you that 99% of the time, when a parent leaves a sad child at daycare, before you even get to the door, they are fine. Believe me, you were feeling worse than he was.
And I don't know what people are saying, but if your kids are happy and safe, and you have a good, open relationship with your provider, then I wouldn't worry. I had parents who called me every single day to check up on their kids, and I had some who never, ever called. But I chatted with them each evening, making sure we were on the same page. If you have any concerns, I'm sure your provider would much prefer that you talk to her about it, rather than worry about it.

Oh---Stay away from the candy bar!!! I had to make brownies for a client last night, and the leftovers are sitting on my counter. It's killing me, but so far I have not touched them!

Everyone is doing so well and I'm...not :sad2:
I just have not gotten my *** of the couch to go walking or anything. I do my daily chores but that movement is so minuscule that unless I'm cleaning the entire house in one day it's not worth counting. My eating is all over the place but I already know it's because I eat when I'm bored and tired. I'm tired because I eat unhealthy and don't get any exercise.

SO, with that said I'm getting rid of my eating out privileges. Eating out is my downfall, I can never say no to a burger, fries and a coke. So until I have that self-control I'm not putting myself in a corner!

I also think it was a bad idea to buy my part of the candy for the candy buffet so early before the trip because I'm so tempted to open a bag and pig out. Stupid candy temptation! :headache:

Today's weather just got me in a real bad mood but thankfully that mood pushed me to get real and understand that yes, just one more gummy worm will kill me if that one more gummy worm turns into 5, 6, 7, more.

So, this is my plan. Stop planning! I go into a big ol' planning phase of exercising, eating and how much I want to lose at different dates. I need to grasp the concept of taking it one day at a time because when I try to create a weight loss plan for 6 months it gets overwhelming and when I don't meet those goals at the scheduled dates I get depressed. Well isn't that a self set-up for failure!

I'm a snacker and thankfully the only unhealthy snack I have in my house is Kudos bars which are 100 calories each. I need to drink much more water while eating my meals and between them so I can feel full. Also getting in my fruits really helps balance out my sugar level so I'm not craving food allll day looooong.

I want to thank you all for being so supportive of not just me but everyone else. It's nice to have those kind of friends. :grouphug:

Now I have 43 days until I see you all and I want to look better than I do now! :thumbsup2

Here's what I had for dinner

Guess we're all having a difficult day, huh?

This was day #4 of NO CHANGE ON THE DANG SCALE!!! And y'all see what I'm eating??? AAAAAHHHH! I think my scale's broken.

So, I decided to confuse my body today by eating a small bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. I added a few walnuts and some dried berries but no sugar. It was delicious, and filling. Kept me satisfied till lunch, when I had a couple small pieces of leftover fish and some carrots.

I developed a huge headache (borderline migraine) this afternoon that I am still trying to fight off. :headache:

Dan is making Thai Green Curry turkey meatballs and veggies over brown rice for dinner. I'm going to keep the brown rice to a bare minimum.

Oh, and I drank some Traditional Medicinals "Smoothe Move" tea to help get my digestive system going again (it kinda shuts down a bit when you're in ketosis).

My victory today is that I am wearing a size 10 jeans. They're tight, and my muffin top is a bit more noticeable in them than in my 12's, but I threw a sweatshirt on over them to hide it! ;)

I hope everyone is able to keep their fingers outta the candy/chip bowl and drink some extra water and chew some gum instead!

I ate bad on Sunday and weighed .4 less on Monday. I ate good on Monday and weighed .4 more on Tuesday. Today I was the same, but at least not a gain. I think AF may be coming to visit soon :( but at least I should have a good loss after that. I've been eating good, or my version of good, which is less than I used to eat. I don't worry too much about WHAT I eat, it's more about HOW MUCH I eat. And I've done good on water everyday, except today. Had to run errands and forgot my water at home. Hope everyone else is drinking LOTS of water!!

I'm on bottle number 7 and I resisted the butterfinger! I also went to the gym and had a decent work out. Glenn made Pumpkin Waffles for dinner and they were great!

Have a great one!

Hi all, hope you are having a good morning. I feel out of sorts. I am worried about my daughter, sad that my son was upset when I left him at the daycare this morning. concerned that people are saying bad things about the daycare I send my kids to, distressed that my new work pants still haven't arrived (by the time they get here they will be too big!), sad that some of my friends might not be at the girls trip in feb, worried I might be getting pink eye, etc. Ugh.

Today's weather just got me in a real bad mood but thankfully that mood pushed me to get real and understand that yes, just one more gummy worm will kill me if that one more gummy worm turns into 5, 6, 7, more.

 When I started tracking points on WW I really noticed how fast things like a handful of mints or a few pieces of chocolate adds up.
I'm finding it easier when I'm at work to eat well than when I'm home. I pack my lunch and only eat on my two breaks. At home I sit in front of the computer and snack all day. Also if I don't have enough water I really crave snacks.

My mom subscribed to Jillian's online program because she can no longer go to the gym because of her back problems. She likes it because the work outs are simple but effective.

Banana

String Cheese
TJ's Pretzels Thins with 2 Laughing Cow Wedges
Mushroom Turkey Burger with Green Salad

I've been hungy today, but I'm still controlling myself. I have a couple of events this weekend, so I know I will be cheating a bit. I weigh in tomorrow, and I'm hoping for a loss. If not, I'm going to be pretty bitter, as I have been trying really hard! I just need to get myself on a real exercise plan, and I'll be good to go.

Sarah, you're doing a great job!! I'm down about 7 pounds so I feel very motivated. I had a breakfast potluck this morning, lots of not-so-good-food, but I wasn't really hungry the rest of the day and I finally got my 80 oz. of water down so I feel pretty good. I've been trying to get 100 oz. down, but it's harder to do when it's not hot out. When it's hot, I drink LOTS of water. I would SO love to lose 30 by June!!

It's Thursday night, and that means that there are 2 round cakes baking in my kitchen for the kids' cake decorating class tomorrow. Oh, I can't wait for this class to end!! The smell is torture!

Dan and I are beginning to wean ourselves back on to some complex carbs. I had oatmeal again for breakfast and at dinner I had a corn tortilla with beans, chicken, cabbage and salsa. I also had another orange from my AZ tree (Dan shipped up a box).

I'm having a really hard time with the water thing and even Crystal Light isn't appealing to me lately. I gotta figure this one out or I know the scale won't budge!

Good night, ladies!

It is hard when they are little. Try not to worry too much.

Welcome to WW. If you look back a bit on the thread you will see some recipes that I have put up that are compatible with ww. 12 m&m's are 1 point. I make sure to eat a little something every couple hours...for instance...
7am - 1 chewy granola bar, 1 bottle water, 1 multi vitamin (2pts)
10am - 1 string cheese (2pts)
12pm - 1 lean cuisine (5pts)
2pm - 1 small apple (1pt)
gym
5:30pm - dinner
7:30pm - Healthy Choice fudge bar (2pts)

Also I have gum on hand - 5 calories and helps with the oral fixation needs!

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

Sarah

Thanks for the tips. Love the 12 M&M's. That's a good use of 1 point!

When I read what you gals are eating, it just seems like so little! I am doing 25 points and it seems like a ton of food to me. Of course a lot of what I am planning in is free, like broccoli, so maybe that is it. But I have been super full the last two days. I need to get some sugar free hot chocolate. That really satisfies my chocolate need and keeps me warm!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Bill and I just set our family fitness goal for Spring to be able to hike comfortably up to Wallace Falls. I also want to be able look in the mirror when I get out of the shower and not go "ewe!".:scared1:

I know it seems like I'm not eating a lot (I'm not), but I'm having something every couple of hours, and it's really working for me. I'm also drinking tons of water, so I think that is helping me feel full.

Good morning friends! I weighed in this morning and finally hit my 10 lb. mark. I'm at 168.5. I know if I was drinking more water that I would lose quicker, so that is my goal for today.

I also did a reeeeaaaaly scary thing this morning. I tried on my swimsuits for Maui. :scared1: Surprisingly, it wasn't too bad. I'm feeling a TON better about myself and even if I only lose a few more pounds before the trip, I'll be happy.
I'd love to be 163 by the time we leave. We'll see if that happens.

Tina, congrats on 3 lbs! You are doing awesome!!

Sarah, hope today is a better day! You're commitment to exercise is inspiring! That's a toughie for me, especially with my sciatica issues.

Tracey, it may seem like you're eating a lot, but if it's all good healthy food, then it's going to help your metabolism work better.

Yesterday was my birthday and I ate SO much. I did walk home after the bar so I at least got a little exercise in. ;)

I lost another two pounds, so I'm down a total of 14 now. :thumbsup2

I haven't weighed myself in over two months so I really don't know how much I weigh. Today started off poorly when I had about five 100 calorie snack cakes :headache: but lunch was much better. I had 5 oz extra lean ground beef and 4 oz cooked brown rice rigatoni pasta. I have a huge juice bottle full of water staring me in the face so I better get to chugging!

Anais gets out soon so I have to go change. I'm going to bring Jingles, park at the school and we'll go walking up towards the new shopping center. It has been way to long since I've had some physical exercise and Jingles hasn't had a walk in over three weeks. She must be dying of cabin fever.

Hi all. Yesterday I got some good excersize in but then went out with some friends to dinner and ate too much and then had about 1/2 of my friends order of fries and ranch while playing pool. Only had a sip of each of their drinks to taste. I had a great work out this morning. I decided to try running on the treadmill again. Last time I tried it I kept throwing out my back. Today I did a 2 minute warm up at 3 mph, 6 minute jog at 5 mph, 2 1/2 min walk at 3 mph, 6 minute job at 5mph, 2 1/2 minute walk at 3 mph, 3 minute jog at 5 mph, and finished off the 30 minutes at a 3 mph walk. I then did 30 minutes on the eliptical and kept my heart rate around 165 bpm. I have eaten very well today, I got a lot done around the house and my dh and ds made a healthy coconut-blueberry-macadamia nut muffin for only 4 points!

Congrats to all of you who are making good choices in your lives! I have pledged to stay at my point target for the rest of my week (2 1/2 days to go!)

I meant to check in last week at my first WW weigh in. I was so nervous. But surprisingly, I lost 7.8 pounds. Yes, I said 7.8 pounds of weight was lost in my first week of WW. I weigh in tomorrow again, so I will see how this week goes. I am sure it won't be like the first week, but I am still expecting a loss.

I want to get some movement into my life, but I just can't get myself into it. So hopefully the lifestyle of eating healthy and making better choice will work.

Hi ladies. I'm not going to be posting daily weight loss anymore, but will probably start weekly check-ins.

My eating today has been erratic. Dan and I woke up super early to drive off island to see Avatar in Imax 3-D (which was awesome, btw). We both had oatmeal before we left. We shared a banana before the movie. During the movie we split a small bag of dried mango. After we had turkey, carrots and snap peas that I brought, as well as an orange apiece.

Once we got home is where things got ugly. We were both starving and there was cake sitting out on the bar from the kids' class. We shared a piece and then continued to pick a bit on the rest of it. Dan even made home-made cheese-its for the kids and I had a few of those. At dinner I had one corn tortilla with beans, ground turkey, cabbage and salsa. But my tummy is hurting! I think maybe I went a little too far with the extra sugars and carbs today (I love dried mango, but it doesn't love me). Ouch.

After sitting so much today -- in both the car and the theater -- my sciatica is killin me, so now I don't feel like being active. Hoping for some good weather tomorrow and maybe we can go for a family hike.

Great job!

Well today I went to a baby shower at a restaurant, so I was a little worried. I had a bowl of Special K and a cup of green tea this morning. Then at the shower I had a piece of bread and butter, caesar salad, and 2 pieces of pizza!!!! I wish I had just stopped at 1 piece of pizza, but it was oh so yummy! I did skip the cake though. By the time I got home it was around 5:30, so I just brushed my teeth so I would stop eating, and it really worked. I baked a cake and some cookies for the party I'm going to tomorrow, and I didn't even sneak a taste. Of course, tomorrow will be another story, but I'm learning to control myself a bit, and I'm happy about that. Before I started this journey, I would have probably had bacon and eggs for Saturday breakfast, all that food at the shower, and then come home and had a full dinner. And then I would have eaten cookies as the came out of the oven.
I did not get enough water today, but I did have something like 3 glasses of tea at the shower. And when I came home I did the 1 mile walk on Exercise TV on Comcast On Demand. Not too far, but at least I did something!

I took Soloslim for awhile. It was quick weight loss. It's basically a bulk fiber that when you take it in the morning (that's the only time you take it, when you first wake up), it expands in your stomach and makes you feel fuller. You have to drink lots of water to keep it bulked up. It's 30 capsule for $40. I got mine on ebay here (http://cgi.ebay.com/Solo-Slim-Soloslim-Diet-Pills-Weight-Loss-30-capsules_W0QQitemZ120510404185QQcmdZViewItemQQptZL H_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c0efad659), and did the Extra Strength as well. I didn't feel hungry at all, but also didn't feel weak, like I hadn't been eating. Apparently it does have some sort of stimulant as well, although I didn't feel it at all.

Great job on the walking and running, ladies!

I did the 1 mile On Demand walk plus and On Demand abs class this morning. Then I had a yogurt. I was doing pretty well until I went to a party today. I had a Togos sandwich, chips and dip, plus a piece of cake. But that is all I ate today, so hopefully not too much damage done. I also drank tons of water today. And I passed up wine at today's bday and yesterday's shower. When I got home I did some housework--taking out all the trash and bringing it out to the curb, sweeping, vacuuming, etc, just to try to get my heart rate up a bit. Every bit helps, right?

It sure does Tina! Good job on stopping before the damage was too great. I am known to go hog wild once I throw in the towel. Not a good thing! Passing on my wine is hard. Had a rough day yesterday, kids that is, not food, and I had a MGD64 at the end of the day. Man did that taste good!

Monday is the day I keep track of my weight, I'm down about 7 pounds in 2 weeks! And my auntie came and visited me so not sure how that will affect this week's weight. Off to do my elliptical and soloflex for the day! Monday always seems like the hardest day to get into the exercise, especially since I don't do it on Saturday or Sunday... and it's raining here today, came in from California, so it's cold, dark and gloomy.

That's great Sarah. I have a hard time running. How many points do you do a day, if you don't mind me asking.

I currently get 27 a day.

I am working a double today so I won't be getting any excersize but I have worked out the past 5 days in a row so I am ok with that. I think my body needs a break! My wi is tomorrow.

I got my new work pants and belt in today! The pants are already a hint on the big side but the last pair I had was almost falling off so it is a great improvement!

I've been a very bad girl. Not only did I celebrate my birthday on Thursday, but on Friday, my friends threw me a surprise b-day party with lots of food and alcohol, and on Saturday my parents had another party for me up in South Lake Tahoe, and on Sunday my sister took me out to a b-day lunch followed by a b-day dinner with my cousin. So. much. food. I didn't get much exercise either, but I drank lots of water. :thumbsup2 I got on the scale and saw that I had gained 4 lbs. :sad2: Today I'm back on track, and am actually excited to go for a jog tomorrow.

I hope everyone is having a healthy and happy Monday!

Hey ladies! It was a gorgeous day here today so I went for a bike ride, and a walk, and then walked again while the girls were at their piano lessons. Dan made a totally gourmet lunch for me today of grilled mahi mahi with tangerine fig balsamic vinegrette, a veggie mix (brussels, zuchinni, mushroom and onion) and brown rice. It was soooo good. I have no idea what to make for dinner. Better get on that. . .

I haven't gotten on the scale the last couple days cuz I was getting obsessive about it, and it isn't the most accurate scale, so it ticks me off going up and down by 3 lbs. each time I get on it. I'll probably weigh-in again on Friday.

Today has been ok. I have been at work so I really only have available to me what I brought with me and I packed food that fits into my points for the day. I have eaten every few hours and had lots of water to drink. I hope everyone is having an on plan day and to those of you who have fallen off the wagon a bit...it's time to get back on! Don't be one of the many who only stick to it for the first 2 weeks...be one of the ones who carries on and makes progress towards your goals! You can do it!

Lol...that's funny!

As for me, I looked at my scale this morning...today is my ww weigh in day...and it says I gained weight since last week. This frustrates me. I will wait to see what the WW scale says but I worked out 5 days this week. I know I ate all my allowance points and some of my activity points but you are supposed to be able to do that and still lose...not gain. It just seems that the more I work out the less I lose. I don't understand it.

Sarah, I don't know much about it but could you be building muscle? :confused3 Maybe you are still losing inches as opposed to pounds.

In any case, you know you are doing the right thing and are becoming stronger and healthier by the day. :cheer2:

Yeah, it is possible. I can see some deffinition in my arms now that I didn't have a couple of weeks ago. I don't mean to be whiny, but I am still so overweight (still obese by 40 lbs! :scared1:) and I just want the number on the scale to go down! I do think I may have lost inches...my clothes seem to be fitting better...I just am cranky I guess. I hate weighing in a ww and thinking that they are thinking that I didn't work hard or that I slacked off. I know I shouldn't worry what other people think but it is hard not to.

Hi, it's me. :)

Talk to the WW person and maybe she'll have some hints on how to get the scale to budge. Maybe you need to tweak your points. But DON'T give up on the exercise. It will be key to your long term success and health, I believe. I know when I was exercising alot (back in the day :rolleyes1), I was not losing weight, but people were remarking to me that I looked like I was. So take your measurements too, as changes probably are happening. Also, if you up your cardio, that will help with burning fat and weight loss. Running will help you to lose weight and it sounds like you are doing well in that area. Just step by step, like you are doing. You really seem to be doing the right things. Just have patience and persistence.

Congrats to all who have been sticking to their programs and getting healthier! And to those who have had little slips, there is ALWAYS the opportunity to turn it around! A mistake made yesterday by NO means determines what choice you will make today.

I have been working out pretty regularly since I got back to Switzerland. Haven't been feeling too great physically and am hoping that the exercise will help. Adjusting back to life here after that time in California has been a bit bumpy, but I think we're getting back into the swing of things. I'm starting to explore the possibility of doing some kind of race here in Europe maybe in June or something. Need a goal to keep me focused and motivated. I am so much happier when I feel healthy and fit. Anyone want to come to Nice, France for a 10K in April?? Oooh la la...

Good luck everyone! Here's to health and happiness and just chugging along to meet and maintain our goals!

It's raining cats & dogs (unfortunately not puppies) over here so I can't go walking. I don't have gym membership near my house so that's not an option. I may just do a workout dvd. I really wanted to take Jingles out because she's so good on a leash that I really enjoy walking her. When I get back to school I plan on taking advantage of the rec center.

I'm also thinking about buying a bike. I hope I remember how to ride one!

I hope everyone has a productive Tuesday.

Hi ladies!:goodvibes

Today has been a much better day. Made it 20 minutes on the elliptical and then 25 minutes running. I used to avoid the treadmill, but weather here just isn't conduscive to running outside, so I started the treadmill this week. Oh, how it feels good to run again. First day I could only do 10 minutes, second day 15 minutes and today 25 minutes. Felt so good. I could feel the knots releasing in my shoulders. Gosh, I think I got really really tense after 1 month of Christmas vacations and then the shock of adjusting back to life in Switzerland after our California break. Was so tight couldn't even take a deep breath. I stuck to the program trying to build up cardio since I've been back and today was the first day I felt kind of back to normal. I'm a firm believer in the power of exercise! At least for those who tend to get stressed out like me.

One of my major stress factors is living in this apartment. We are trying so hard to abide by the Swiss rules of absolute silence between the hours of 10pm and 7am (I mean not even flushing the toilet or turning on the water silence and men are supposed to pee sitting down :sad2:) and then pretty quiet for the rest of the time. We bought like ten rugs since we've been back for sound proofing, plus I'm putting up curtains. We got some Christmas money for another big Ikea run for the carpets and curtains, plus a tv (and cable!). This trying to be invisible so as not to face the wrath of my "perfect" Swiss neighbors has been a source of considerable stress, but I'm trying to chill a bit. I think we're making considerable progress on the noise front (we're better than we've ever been) and as long as we're following the rules, that is good enough. Gaining the approval or acceptance of our Swiss neighbors is perhaps more than can be asked. The Swiss people are not the warm and fuzzy welcoming types.

Tomorrow I go to a career counselour in Zurich. This is paid by my old company as part of the severance package. I have no idea if it will be helpful or not, but I'm going to give it a shot, since it's free. Then I will start looking for a job. My DH has said that it's fine if I don't work and I'm definitely keeping busy hausfrauing, but ultimately, I think it would be better for me if I could find some kind of job -- provided that it can fit into the work/life balance. One step at a time and we'll see what happens.

OK...enough venting for me. Funny how all this eating, exercising, emotional stuff is all intertwined.

Inspired by Sarah, I pushed my cardio up to 55 minutes today. Also, finally signed up for the fitness testing and initial fitness program with the gym. Glad to hear I inspired you! Yesterday was my strength day so I did 40 instead of my normal 30 minutes of cardio for warm up and then I did my st circuit. Wow, slow here today. I guess that makes sense...everyone was over on the main board making plans! I did my 55 minutes on the eliptical today plus 10 minutes of cool down since my show wasn't over yet! My legs have been sore so I didn't have a lot of extra oomph but I kept my heart rate up past 150 so I feel ok about what I did...plus I was sweating like crazy!

I made chicken stir fry for dinner which turned out quite well but since I still had so many points left I also had a bowl of baked potato soup...no where near as good as the stuff at Carnation Cafe though...and now I am stuffed! I just want to go to bed but the kids aren't down yet so I guess I should work on that first.

I will be going to the gym again tomorrow since the kids area is open till 1pm and it will be 40 minutes cardio plus my st circuit. Fun Fun.

HOpe you all are doing well and don't forget to drink your water!
