View Full Version : This board ... and the information it provides!
This is my first posting, and I want to thank everyone who takes the time to keep this discussion forum going. You-all have provided us with more information and insights than any other source.
We have agonized, as many of you seem to, for a long time about 'taking the plunge.' If interest rates continue to fall, and if we can refinace our mortgage ( with extra cash ), we hope to join the ranks of the DVC owners.
We are interested in buying into BWV with a use year of May or June. Any tips on finding such a package ( or packages )?
Thanks, again!

Hi neighbor! We're also in Sussex County.
It looks like you'll be buying resale if you want to buy at BWV. Unfortuantely, I don't have any expertise in that are. Maybe others can help. Hopefully, we'll be saying "Welcome Home" to you soon.

hi qdog and Welcome to the DIS and the DVC Discussion Board.
Feel free to post any questions you have. We have quite a few posters with extensive DVC experiences.
A great function that the boards offer is the search function button (see above). You can use it to search for information on a specific topic. Try using it with the key word "Resale". You should find a lot of information and opinions on the purchase of a DVC Membership through a resale company.
If you are only interest in a membership with just those use years you may have a harder time finding one. Why did you choose these use years

I have read where people have had good experiences with the Timeshare Store advertised thru DIS. I believe that you can contact them, give them your specifications (xxx points with a use year of ...) and they will contact you when something comes available. Good luck. I believe that you will regard joining the DVC as one of your better decisions.
OBTW - welcome to this board and the DIS. There's lots of information to be had here.

We purchased a BWV resale through The Timeshare Store, closing about a month ago. Others have reported good service from atimeshare.com. Contact both and provide them the details (minimum and maximum number of points your are interested in purchasing, use month(s) if this is a critical factor, etc.). They will contact you when new listings come in which meet your specifications. There have been few recent listings on the web sites of BWV contracts for the last month or two, but this does not necessarily mean that none are available. It may simply be that prospective purchasers are being contacted and making offers before the listings ever make it to the web sites for these two sales organizations. I know that's how we found our resale contract. This seems to be an area where patience can really pay dividends, particularly if BWV is your desired home.

Don't get too hung up on use year month. It really only matters if you MUST cancel a trip and you usually plan to travel the same time each year. It really is only a function of when your points are credited and little else.

Our concern about the use year stems from our vacationing patterns. In the event that we must cancel our res, we want the opportunity to use the 100% banking window.
Does this make good sense?

Yes it perfectly makes sense- you want every opportunity to be able to use your points. Ideally it is a month or so before you usually travel, so you have almost a whole year to use or bank your points. You don't have to wait too long for a resale- call and get on their list and they will call you before they post the listing. We used a timeshare broker- email me if you want more info.

I hope you find the exact package you are looking for! Both brokers mentioned have excellent reputations. We bought re-sale, and there have not regretted it. Like many, I wish I had bought sooner!
