Last July my daughter and I were given the chance to go on a MAW trip to Disney. My daughter at the time was battling Cancer and our trip was a welcome hiatus from the world of sickness. At the time of our trip, I did not know if my DD would beat her Cancer or not. Fast forward 5 months later and DD is cured and begging to go back to Disney. So what could I say? We had to go back. I was looking at the month of January in 2011 and inviting my sister, three nieces, and mom. My sister didn't have the funds this year and I did not want to go with my mom again for reasons that were stated in our other trip report. I also didn't really want to wait untill January to go so decided on DD's bday week in October. I invited my grandmother to come along since she has never been to Disney World and thought it would be a nice gift to her. Yesterday I booked and put down the deposit for October 26 - November 1 at the Pop Century resort. I am so excited to plan plan our vacation and can hardly wait for October to come.

Now a little information about the trip goers. First there is my grandmom. She is 72 and has never been to Disney!! :sad2: I now can you believe it. I dont have any pics right but will add them later. Next is the princess of the story, MyaRose. She is three but will be turning 4 on our trip and is the strong survivor of Cancer. Mya loves anything to do with Mickey and Minnie and has just discovered princesses.

Finally there's me. Shardai, 22. I love Disney because the magic it brings to my daughter. As long as she wants to go we will go.

So sit back and get readyy for the next installment of our pre trip extravaganza. Next up? What will we do for 7 whole days in Disney and so many options only three meals a day!

:)We have experienced many changes on this trip already and will probably have many more before October rolls around. Originally I was going to bring my grandmom but once my mom found out begged me to come along. Seems that she likes the way we do Disney here on the disboards. :thumbsup2 So even though or last trip was pretty rocky, it was also alot of fun and she did say she would pay for her part of the trip completely.... sure come along. When I had thought my grandma was coming I had changed our dining plan to the regular one since I was getting no help paying for the trip and we were going to take the train down to Florida. Now with my Mom coming we will be going back to Deluxe dining and driving down to Florida. So without further hesitation, here are our preliminary plans.

Okay so my mom has asked if we can bring my 3 year old niece along since my dd is a only child and those two are like sisters. I of course was concerned about the price but she said she would cover the difference so I agreed. So.... lets all welcome another little princess to our royal expedition.

http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o30/tadiasha/Mobile%20Uploads/102509124217_01.jpg

Otherwise Known as Princess A. We have also decided to replace Ohana with Hoop de Doo Revue. Neither my mom nor I liked Ohana's food lasyt year and are opting to try the Wishes Dessert Party instead. I am also planning to order Mya a Princess and the Frog cake for her birthday at dinner. We do not want to tell the girls about the trip till the day because my niece has a brother and sister and we dont want any jealousy issues cropping up. Does anyone know how to adequately surprise a three and four year old on the day of a Disney trip? Instead of doing DTD our last day, it will now be during our first day. We will be revisiting Give Kids The World on our last day there. GKTW is a great place for sick kids to stay while they are on thier MAW trip. They are amazing and it made or trip. More info on GKTW can be found in Mya's MAW trip report.

Also here is a pic of my mom.

Well your group just keeps growing!:rotfl: I think it will be fun for your DD to have her cousin there to share the excitement. As for surprising, I have no idea. We are going in April for my DD8's WISH and I have talked to Tessa (DD4) about going and she doesn't quite get it. She loves to go on trips, so she likes the sound of it, but not completely understanding how fun and special it's going to be. I guess you could prepare a little travel pack for them, with some dollar store Disney items, coloring books, etc just to get them in the mood. If you can get your hands on a portable DVD player for the drive down, it would be fun to tell them as you're watching Cinderella or whatever, "we're going to go visit her!".
I love the PandFrog cake idea. We just saw it on Cmas and LOVED it!!! She is Tessa's favorite now. princess:

Found you!!

I think it's a wonderful idea to revisit...we're already planning our next trip (no dates yet) and we also plan to take the kids & DH this time to GKTW. I'm planning for just the 4 of us this trip. DH has never been to Disney and Boo LOVED the MAW trip so I say let's go back and make some more magic! :wizard:

Sorry I don't have any advice for the surprise...I'm sure you'll come up with something or somebody on here will have a great idea.

Thanks for stopping by. I have no clue what to do yet for the surprise. I don't want to tell them too early as my dd is already asking me everyday to go to Disney.

I was thinking of buying a portable dvd player and having a disney movie marathon on our drive down. I may just keep the secret untill we pass under the sign. Can you imagine the look on thier face when they first realize they are at Disney? My dd went last year and remembers everything about her MAW trip. When I told her we were going this year again she jumped up and asked for her coat and shoes!!! :rotfl: After i explained to her that we would have to wait a while, she calmed down but still asks me everyday when we will be going back. Mya also loves PandFrog. Princess Tiana is her new favorite so I am planning a surprise centered around the movie but you guys will have to wait to see more details.

How cute! I can't believe she remembers so much! We took our girls to DLand last spring and Tessa hasn't talked about it too much. She did right after, kept asking to go back, but after a month or two she seemed to forget. Mya has a good memory!

Believe me yinyanggirls, Mya's great memory is not always a good thing. She likes to remind about how I leave her at sunday school every week while I go to the sermon and practically accuses me of abandonment. :sad2: I don't know where she got it from. I can't remember anything about my life untill preschool.

This is a breaking news report. We have even more people traveling to Disney with us. Maybe I'm going to have to change this trip name to A Grand Gathering. So I was telling Mya's paternal NaNa about the trip[ and encouraged her to come down with mya's pop pop. So they agreed to come down for the main birthday celebrations on 10/29 - 10/31. Remember how I said there was going to be a surprise central to one of the Princesses? Well they may have a little something to do with it. So now there are four adults and two children going. Will that finally be all? Unfortunately, we'll just have to wait and see.

I found your pre-trip report! I am so excited that you get to go back to Disney. I am even more excited that Mya is cured! I followed her caring bridge and hoped and prayed for positive posts each time I received an email that there was an update! I can't wait to hear about this wonderful new celebration trip! :wizard:

Did anyone reply to this? Because it's really easy to change your res. It might not be for the same time exactly but if you call 407-WDW-DINE they will help you out for sure. I had a little problem with my current trip work wouldn't let me go the week I wanted to go so we had to change them. Disney helped us out and changed everything for us. We have to eat lunch instead of dinner for one of our ADR but that's okay. :)

I'm totally on board for this one! I love stories that tug at the heart strings. I'm so glad Mya made it and she is doing so well now! You've got a hard core Disney lover in the making! What are you gonna do? Haha!

I know, now my sis is supposedly coming with the other niece and nephew. Im not overly concerned though. People tend to all want to be apart of things when its months away but as the date gets closer, they tend to drop out at the last minute. Atleast that is how the people I know act any way. So I am only planning for the original cast untill ADR making time. That is when if you have not paid your share, you're not going comes into play.

I stayed up WAYYYY too late reading the whole TR from last year. What a trip!!! Mya looked like she was just eating up all that attention. Did you say her hair is growing back? Or was that before she had to start treatment again? My friend's daughter won her battle with leukemia and when her hair grew back it had a different texture. Weird huh? Anyway, with the drama of the last cast, maybe having a bigger party this time will help diffuse that. But like you said, everyone wants to go when it's just being talked about. Paying up is a different story. ;)

Mya's hair has fallen out four different times from chemo. When we came back from our trip her hair came back but then fell out again after treatment started again. Now it is back again for good since she will never need treatment again. It is a totally different texture now than it was. Her hair used to be thick and curly but now it is silky and straight.

Wow that's strange but at the same time very pretty! Well now you know she'll want curly hair when she get older cause it's straight.

That's a good idea about rope drop! I am the one in our family who can't get up early, so I am hoping to be able to make myself get to each park at or close to opening time. We'll see!

And you're right about reading others' trip reports. It helps the time go by and keep the excitement coming. I figure after we're back it will just as fun to read the new TRs to help us relive it. ;)

Dont worry about getting up early that much. Your GAC card will get you to the front of almost every line. Since we dont have the card this year we have to make sure we get there early.

If you do the Tusker House breakfast I heard it's the best! The characters are suppose to be big time on the interaction there and the food is pretty good. I'm looking forward to it cause there seems to be a lot of vegetarian options on the menu!

I know what you mean. My trip is still 4 months away and I'm saying can it get here any sooner. Life is going in slow motion cause I've got two trips planned this year and it's taking forever!

I have recently recieved some bad news. Unfortunately my school does not have nor intend on having a fall break. They also do not feel as though a Disney vacation qualifies as an excused absence. :sad1: So what are we going to do? We just have to go earlier. During the worst month there is to go to Disney!!!!! :scared1::scared1: July, we are going to Disney now from July 1 - July 9. We are going to take the Autotrain down instead of driving the whole way and I had to quickly make dining reservations after the 180 mark day. I am pleased to report that I was able to secure all of my dining choices except CRT and Hoop De Due and that was only because I can not pay the ressies in full untill next week. I was upset at first about Mya not getting to spend her birthday at WDW but the CM I spoke to today assured me that we could still celebrate early so I threw in my mom and nieces birthday too. We are also celebrating my nieces first visit and Mya's fight with Cancer being finally over. Even though we will not be in Disney on the specific dates, it will still be a Princess Bday Extravaganza full of surprises for everyone involved. Except for the all knowing planner of course. :sad2:

I wanted to pop in and say that your daughter's story of cancer both broke my heart and melted it with joy! How overjoyed you must be that she is cancer free...I know there are probably no words! You are such a wonderful mom wanting your daughter to go back now that she is not sick. She is so lucky to have such a special mom:lovestruc

It is too bad you had to reschedule your trip to summer. WDW is awful during the summer. That is the only time we have ever been and we honestly don't even know what it will be like when we go in March to not have the awful heat to battle with!! We have always had an amazing time in spite of the heat so I'm sure you will too:thumbsup2

Hope you don't have any other changes!!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I am so blessed to be able to go back to Disney with a well and healthy child. Our MAW trip was part of the healing process for both of us so it naturally has become our place to go. We went on her MAW trip last July so even though I am not a big fan of the summer months, I am glad we have experience doing the summer months. I hope you will continue to follow along.

Sooo thanks to the great tips and advice by TGM, I was able to secure my last two ressies!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1: I am officially done with all our ADR's and no longer am fearing that we will spend the length of our trip eating pb and j sandwiches.

Woohoo!!!

Hopefully that will be the end of the changes. I'm putting my foot down.

Sorry you had to move your trip up to July but look at it this way - it means you will get to go Disney sooner! :cool1::banana: I am glad you got the ADR's that you wanted and that your plans seem to be working out. I will be curious to hear what you think about the autotrain. We live not too far from you (Harrisburg, PA) so it is an easy drive to catch the autotrain in VA.

Even though October would have been better, I am starting to feel better about July since we were there last year in July and it feels more like an anniversary trip now. Plus I am extra excited!!! The trip is almost here!!!!!

So today after several obstacles I paid for the trip. Now I have to save up for transportion and the extras. I am hoping now to possibly buy plane tickets, it all depends on what I can afford but I was able to find a car rental from Disneys airport for under 250 dollars. Way cheap. Also I am thinking of ordering Mya a custom cake from Grand Floridian's bakery for her birthday night and possibly the wishes dessert party if it comes back out this spring. I also scheduled mya a reservation for BBB and just paid off on 5 custom made dresses for her for while we are down there. I also have to reserve a double stroller for us while we are down there. It is alot of extras but I still have 5 months to do this so I'm okay with it. I'm taking lots of pics so when Mya hits those trying teen years I can whip out these pics and remind her just how much I did for her.

Hopefully she will, I was a terror when I was a teenanger and frankly I'm not looking forward to the payback.

Do they ever!! You want your kids to experience Disney to the Max but it takes quite a bit of money. So worth it but my head hasn't stopped spinning from trying to figure out a way to squezze some savings on this trip.

Speaking of which, I was able to apply the summer discounts on room only for 25% and now am that much closer to the trip being fully paid off!! :yay::yay: I'm also trying to find some cheap plane tickets but so far no luck. Does anyone know where I can find any affordable tickets?

I usually go on www.kayak.com and see what I can come up with. It prices out different times and such for you. And if you live within so many miles of a few different airports it can price those out for you!

Shardai,

just realized you are going back!!! (WHERE have I been????) I'm so happy that you will be able to get back with Mya (she is gorgeous, btw). And so happy she is doing well. Keep us updated!

Btw, Elke's hair is FINALLY growing back (it fell out in December '08 and never came back -- she's really sensitive to the chemo, which is good, I guess!). And I am waiting for the wonderful, silky hair everyone promised us.... Waiting.... It feels kind of coarse now, and is pretty unruly. Perhaps the fact that she is still on chemo isn't doing anything good for it. One can hope!

Your plans look great! LOL at your growing numbers (do you have any more family members who might come? Ours have no interest!). But we'll see where they end up, as you say.

I am glad that your daughters hair is coming back. You can never be sure how its going to come back. My daughter's is a little unruly now as it is lengthening and starting to curl but I know when it fully comes in her hair will be really nice. Hopefully Elke's will be like that too. Alot of my family members were supposed to come but just as I thought hen payment time came around alot of them backed out so its back to being just my mom, myself, Mya, and my neice. When are you guys going to be at GKTW?

We are going on 4/17, the same day as Melissa and her crew. I am going to really start planning in earnest next week. when it's two months away. We have a BIG hospital day on Monday, and I haven't allowed myself to plan until we get the results of her most recent spinal tap.

The smaller numbers for you might actually make it easier to get around, plan, etc.!

I hope everything goes well and you will get to experience your wish trip with no worries. Mya went into relapse a coulple weeks before we went and it was hard to have to completly erase that fact out of my mind while we were down there but I had to b/c at the time we thought it would be the last trip she would be taking. I thank God everyday that he healed my child and in a way this trip is our true wish trip. My special wish has been granted to have a completely healthy child with no sickness. I am going to pray that soon Elke will have her name with the list of survivors.

Exactly what I was thinking. I was secretly glad that everyone backed out. Smaller numbers mean more things done and no arguments or complaining about my planning style. Now my mom is not an angel and her diabetes causes her to be a real weee atch some times but she is also really easygoing when it comes to my planning plus she has already experienced the world which makes it easier for her to trust me. Everyone is not a fan of getting up at the crack of dawn to get to the parks and I understand that but I kindly told everyone who was planning to go that me and DD will gladly ride all the rides we wanted while they were getting thier beauty sleep.

Well to be honest, i hate keeping secrets. I long to tell people things or else I will burst to the seams with anticipation. It was generally understood in my family not to tell me anything if they wanted to keep it safe. Unfortunately I have more than one secret under wraps right now and some have to do with this upcoming trip others have to do with Disney in general. ;) I feel like I am going to burst with all this secrecy.

One of my orders finally came in the mail today and they look amazing. Mya was apart of the Big Give last year and the outfits were really cute so I decided that this year I would buy some custom made dresses for our trip from etsy.com. The dresses look amazing and Mya absolutely loved them but don't take my word on it.
