I have been broadening my 'coffee horizons' lately and remember Pete talking about 'the worlds best coffee' on a podcast maybe a year ago. Does anyone remember what it is called?

Thanks in advance.

It was either Jamaican Blue, Kona, or Eight O'Clock coffee

It was Seattle's Best, wasn't it?

If memory serves it was Jamaican Blue and I concur. It is very expensive and hard to find and I believe he brought up 8 O'Clock as his favorite readily available and less expensive favorite.

I'm enjoying a grocery store bought espresso grind right now. Cafe Bustelo in the bright yellow can. If you like something a little richer but french roast tastes burnt to you, this may be your cup of tea. Oops. :upsidedow

Agree that Jamaican Blue and Kona in 100% form are awesome but expensive. If you're not paying through the nose for it, you're buying a blend. ::yes::

Costco warehouses that have coffee roasters usually have 100% Kona coffee beans over the holidays for about $20/lb. It is so good!

I buy Cafe Bustelo instant coffee for our camping trips -- it's one of the best instants I've tried and very reasonably priced.

We love Katz coffee (http://www.katzcoffee.com/store.php). My favorite is their Katz Best. This is really good stuff.

Is there any difference between "Jamaican Blue" and "Jamaica Blue Mountain"?

As for me, I'm content with that burnt stuff, Starbucks.

Thanks for the help everyone. Happy new year!

The diffrence is between Jamaican blue mountain and "high mountain" coffee. Blue mountain is an even more exclusive variety. It's awesome - and it really is different from high mountain.

We just returned from a trip to Negril and splurged on Blue Mountain ($26 a pound!) and bought a pound of high mountain too for about $10 less. You can easily taste the difference although they are both good.

For easy to get coffee, I don't think you can do better than Starbucks Sumatra. Supermarket coffee - I like eight o'clock bocar on the black bag.

I buy 5lbs of 100% jamican blue & 100% kona (2 bags kona, 3 jbm) for ~ $80+ shipping on eBay. Worth every penny.

12 oz of pure JBM is $30 and pure Kona is $25 at my local "whole foods" store. I tried Kona and it is ok but I prefer Sumatra (at less than half the cost). Call it my pedestrian taste.

Dunkin Donuts Whole Bean (which we grind ourselves).

4lbs...$19.99

I've tried JBM and Kona and coffee grown in the shade and picked by left handed, butterfly farmers and we always come back to Dunkin Donuts Whole Bean.

Personal favorite is Bad *** Coffee Company coffee. They are scattered nationwide and there is one on I-Drive. You just can't get a better cup of coffee in Orlando. :thumbsup2

My brother buys green coffee and roasts it himself; there is no coffee better than that! But the coffee from Costco is a close second. I can't recall what the varieties are but I like the bag with the cheetah and the one with the parrot. :lmao:

I had never heard of them before I was in VA beach this September. I loved their coffee but thought they were a one-off. I'll have to get some next time I'm in Orlando (and staying off-site with a car).

There's one on John Young Parkway (near Tijuana Flats...the really good / really cheap Mexican restaurant).

This is a short drive from Disney property.

Thank you for the info Kevin. Based on my VA Beach experience the drive would be worth it. It also looks like it is close to Season 52 which I have been wanting to check out. Looks like I can kill 2 birds with one stone, or trip as it were.

Remember to take quarters for the toll road. We returned from Hunter's Creek and followed the signs to DHS. We got to the $.50 toll booth (unstaffed) and had to scramble for pocket change!

While this can certainly be done....they are not really in the same direction.

You can get to Seasons 52 very easily.

Exit Disney property via Hotel Plaza Boulevard (across from Marketplace).

Turn left on Apopka Vineland Road and travel 5 - 6 miles.

Turn right onto Sand Lake Road and travel 1/2 mile.

Seasons 52 will be on your right. (Along with Publix, Barnes and Noble, Walgreens, Panera etc)

************************************************

You can get to Bad *** Coffee very easily as well.

Exit Disney property via Osceola Parkway (near Wide World of Sports).

Travel east approximately 7 - 8 miles to John Young Parkway. (also a shopping area known as The Loop which includes Pei Wei, Best Buy, Regal Cinemas, Olive Garden, Macaroni Grill, BJs etc)

Turn left on John Young Parkway and travel 1 - 2 miles.

Bad *** Coffee will be on your left along with Tijuana Flats, Ale House etc

************************************************** ****

Now....if you are at Seasons 52 and want to get to Bad *** Coffee....it can be done but it's not really near each other.

Leave Seasons 52 by turning right on Sand Lake Road and travel 6 - 7 miles east until you get to John Young Parkway.

Turn left on John Young Parkway and travel 6 -7 miles and Bad *** Coffee will be on your right.

****Please note that all of these mileage numbers have been pulled out of thin air, completely made up and are absolute guesses. There is nothing scientific about any of them.

Hope this helps.

Kevin is absolutely correct. Dunkin Donuts coffee is excellent for home brewing. Been using it at home for years!
