Just because I've been asked so nicely...
I'll get this thread started!
Thanks Dawn for the title!
It was very hard to choose!

I do think this thought danced through my mind more than any others!

It wasn't all bad.
In fact we had some very good times.
How could you not when you take a darling baby for the first time?:cloud9:

I also have a contest!
That means prizes!
Stay tuned for details.....

I wish I had counted how many times I reminded myself ....
I'm in Disney.
I love it here.
It's beautiful.
Most of the group are having the time of their lives.....:cutie:

The answer is yes I will help name TR's. I actually have came up with many names in our family, almost all Wedding Songs used in Family weddings etc. so it is just the creative side of me I guess. Fifures the talent God gave me I can make no money at.

Or Can I?

How much is a TR title worth? :rolleyes1

Bwahhhhhhh!

Do not ask me to draw or sing though.

In Pictionary, if you get an amobea - it is the United States and 6th grade church choir they asked me to play the bells which is a nice way of telling you that God doesn't want to hear you either!

I can't wait for the first installment Anita! Mine is sone but I need to find teh camera to add a few pics . Should be today! :cool1:

:lmao: You aren't alone! I recently cleaned out our entry closet, it has deep storage shelves behind all the coats and was just crammed full of stuff. Now it's nice, neat and organized - I open the door just look at it every now and then.......it makes me smile, so I guess I have a sickness too :thumbsup2

Kind of like that energizer bunny.

You can park underneath, that is if you have a car....:drive::moped::car:

Did we get it?:confused3

Oh no, that's not the contest.

Are you ready?:3dglasses

How many steps did it take Wigd to get from the main elevator to the villa?:teleport::tiptoe:

The guess closest but not going over wins the grand prize!:wizard:

Yes, I have a 2nd place prize too!

Hmmmm, so first you must decide was it close or far......
I know, not fair!
We'll let this contest go until MeMom and Jill come back just in case they want in on the fun. So the winners will be announced January 6th or there abouts.....

Hi there! So glad you are back.
Don't you just hate it when life gets in the way of the DIS?
How does next semester look for you? Is it going to get crazy again?[/QUOTE]

I did hate it when I couldn't get on the DIS! I think I will be better when we get back from break. At the start of the year I had 25 2nd graders with 14 IEP's (special ed), including one full time autistic child. Suffice to say that my principal had to move some kids...then one of the teacher assts. assigned to my room got arrested and charged with child molestation:scared1: What a nightmare! Combine all of that with 2 new programs implemented by my division, regular classroom paperwork and preparation, and oh ya, that's right, I do have two kids of my own who need mom! I just ran out of time (and brain cells) and the DIS is something that got left behind.

I have no clue and have never been to Kidani.

I will guess 217. Everyone else is guessing low so I will throw it in space.

Wait....I reserve the right to second guess my guess based on a question.

Whose steps?

You are way shorter :yoda: than Mark.:chewy: So it may make a difference.

There is logistics that go into guessing ya know. ;)

Dan also has a guess and will post in a bit. He wants to know if the person counting steps was behind Keeley so that said person was perhaps taking shorter steps as they were faux tukkus kicking her from behind.

If I were behind Carsyn for example and pretending to kick her tukkus as I walked, my stride would be different than a normal gait.

Also, was the official steps counter carrying bags? This might mean a person would lean to one side  and again, alter the gait that they normally would have.

How bout a sense if the person was full or not. :drinking1:mickeybar If said counter had just rolled out of Boma's and had increased their portly capacity another 3-4 lbs or so, it could easily counter their pace. popcorn:: Esp. if the beans they serve had time to seek havoc on the gut.

I mean you are talking quite a bit of latitude between the holding jeans walk :tiptoe: because you had to unbutton them because you stuffed yourself (not that I would know this :rolleyes1) which is slow and purposeful. Then You have the "OMG I need a lavatory pronto" canter :dancer: before your TR is called "The GREAT BEAN Debacle of 2009" and you are trucking those tootsies in rapid succession, practicing your lamaze breathing even if you have never been pregnant or are a man.

So there are a few questions to help us who are just in it for fun and not competitive at all. :cool2:

I stayed at Kidani and something tells me that Shocker really isn't kidding. :rolleyes1

Of course, since I have stayed at Kidani, with a car, I have to ask a clarification question. When you say the "main" elevator, do you mean the elevator in the lobby OR the closest elevator from the underground parking to your villa??? In my case, there was a HUGE difference. We were very close to the Timon 4 elevator, not so close to the elevators in the lobby and extremely far away when we ended up parking on the OTHER side of the lobby one night. That was probably......never mind, I'm not even going to guess how many steps that was!

Perhaps I am pumping for too much information, but you can't blame a girl for trying from there are prizes involved.

20 is a nice number. I had 22 last year. That extra 4-6 really makes a BIG difference though you wouldn't think that is the case. I got my group by accident. My principal intended for me to have the gifted cluster class but somewhere in all the stuff he labeled the wrong folder. By the time he became aware the computer was loaded and we'd already started labeling stuff. Honestly, despite the extra work for some of my kids, my class overall is better behaved and sweeter so I am glad it ended up the way it did.

Perhaps I am pumping for too much information, but you can't blame a girl for trying from there are prizes involved.
I do mean the elevator just off of the lobby. NOT any elevator associated with a parking garage since I'm married to MrIwontrentacar!
124 steps is my guess.
I've got you recorded as 124!

1 measley step.

It is the closest without going over so I have you down for 1.:goodvibes
I can't get past the 3 BOXES of souvenires!! Do we get to see them all, huh? Huh?:yay:
As soon as the boxes arrive I'll take pictures, I do have some things here that I need to get photographed as well. Disney shopping is so much fun!

As far as the contest, hmmmm..., I'm going to think positively. You got your request and had only 15 steps to go between elevator and villa.
Houston we have a problem with your guess.
15 is taken as well as 12, 13,16 and 18. You can take 14 though, just let me know!

Why would you need a car at Disneyworld? :confused3
Maybe because I'd like to see how much time we could save not being held captive by Disney transportation.... :rolleyes1
Hello there! I've finally caught up! Can't wait to hear all about your adventures! I'm guessing 13 since that may have been a sign of things to come for you!:lmao:
I'm laughing at the logic of your guess, I have you down for 13 steps!

Wow....Dawn you are like the forensic Disney reconstruction scientist:worship: I never would have thought to consider any of those things...perhaps before you settle on a for sure # of steps, you should inquire about the coefficient of friction as it pertains to the velocity of their gait and the floor surface vs the material of their footwear. ok, I have no idea what that means but I was watching the science channel today and I wanted to be smart like you too!:rotfl:
Wow, I'm impressed by the both of you!
Actually that fact that you were watching the science channel is mind boggling!

I started the year out with 20 2nd graders. Just a couple with speech IEPs, one gifted, and one behavior. I do have a good mix of high, medium and low kids. Honestly it's a great class!
How on earth did you get your group, did you make someone mad?
I can't imagine what you went through with the T.A. being arrested, and the new programs. I do know how the paperwork can bog you down though...

What kind of dog is the new pup you got?
The new dog is a Goldendoodle. Golden Retriever and Standard Poodle. He's 3 years old and really big! He doesn't like to walk on wood floors and most of our house has wood floors so he is not wandering the house. He is however adorable and so sweet natured.

My class at present is down to 18, I had a couple of kids move....
Why is it that the good ones are always the kids that move?

No picture, but I may have to take one to flesh out the PTR eventually.

So, did you bring home three boxes of souvenirs as well??? ;)

I set my timer today and worked in the kitchen for an hour, well I ventured into the living room as well.....
Tomorrow, I hope to conquer the bedroom.....

I am done with the whole cleaning/organizing for the rest of the vacation. I cleaned the house this morning, then made chocolate chip cookies and called it good. I am bound and determined to have lazy days for the next four.

So were the kids in there playing while you were working?

Heavens, no. They have the unique ability to disappear into the woodwork when there is cleaning happening.

About the shopping.....
In an effort to leave no stone unturned in the quest for the sold out Christmas ears, I was forced to go into all of those shops and make those purchases.

Don't worry there are more than a few of us losing our minds over here! I don't think you have posted though.
I've got your entry of 73 steps!
Since Shocker (my dh) and I both teach, we do take our trips during school vacations. We have been able to take a short trip in the fall by combining a comp day for conferences with a couple of personal days to get us a long weekend for food and wine.
I don't blame you a bit for considering Disney trips when considering going back to teaching. I so wish we could go in the off season.
It's just not going to happen for us.
We are fortunate to be able to go as often as we do though.
Even with the busy parks, with a good plan you can do everything you want to do.
We are proof of that!

I understand your worries. I stopped teaching for a few years and we went to Disney twice in January. Now that I am back to work we have to travel during vacations and I was concerned about it. My district doesn't allow me to take personal days near vacations or more than 3 in a row so that makes off season or long weekends almost impossible. We went last June and yes, it was HOT and more crowded but surprisingly, both DH and myself commented that we had more fun! So it is definitely doable!

But if you've read Happydog's posts and we had a friend that stayed there (with a car) and they were down at the very end....
It's very cool there.
I'll stay there again.
I can understand why Jackie loves it so much.
But, the Beach Club is just more my style. To me, it's just prettier.
I'm fortunate that I can experience both worlds.
I know, no help at all.
Baylor did give the pool a two thumbs up though!
But he is also a Beach Club boy if given the choice....

Another thought...
Master bedroom...
Kidani wins hands down! walk out balcony, beautiful room!
Master bath....
Kidani wins hands down! It's ginormous you could fit another bed in there!
Living room, dining room and kitchen, Beach Club it's prettier but, Kidani has the walk out balcony...
We've never had the second bedroom at Beach Club but I'd imagine that Kidani would win this one too. The flat screen TV s and walk out balconies were awesome as well as the room decor. Beach Club's bedrooms are a bit dated....
But the resort beauty is to die for! The common areas are gorgeous! Storm Along Bay is unbeatable!
We also want my cousin to do a Disney Destination wedding.... that was part of our big push this Christmas. His girlfriend loves Disney (I have not met her yet) and they are headed there for her birthday in Jan.
Where are they staying?

[/Always looking for a trip to the World I guess!
Always, there would be something drastically wrong we weren't!:cutie:

I am a teacher and can only go during the summer. In my district we aren't allowed to put personal days against vacations. :sad2: I also fly in from the west coast so a long weekend isn't worth it. I do two weeks during the summer to get my fix in and then we go to Disneyland at Christmas. :lovestruc
We can't add personal days to paid holidays either, but we can add them to our comp day for conferences. It makes for a rather quick trip though leaving on a Friday and coming home on Tuesday...that gives us half of Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the Parks before an early morning flight home on Tuesday.
I'm so hoping to do this in October!
What grade to you teach?
I didn't even know this had started!

Okay here now.
I've been waiting for you.....
Now I need your guess....
Nope You didnt, BUT I might have a unfair advantage knowing how your check in went and other details of the trip. And as party of the family I am disqualified. :goodvibes
If I hadn't said it before I'll say it now..
You are such a good girl!
Oh my goodness. I get behind on my own PTR and you've got 5 pages just since you posted the question!

132 is my guess.....

Feel free to stop by by PTR and help me out with my AK dining dlimena!

:rotfl:
I'll be right over....
however I might not be of much help.
I've got you down for 132 steps.
:rotfl2: the main elevator, huh? Are you going to post any of your savannah view pictures before January 6th, by any chance? ( Can you tell I really want to win this? )

I am going to reserve my guess until the end of the contest, but you KNOW what I am thinking!!!!!!!
I know exactly what you are thinking....;)
I do need to get this trip report started. There are pictures of the view. I'm just not sure they will be posted in time for you to use them to your advantage.....:lmao:
I want to get in on the fun :goodvibes

I am going to say 15 and if that is taken put me down for 16 :thumbsup2

I am so excited to read your trip report I love pictures of Disney at Christmas time!
Thanks for playing with us! The closest I can give you is 19, the low numbers are going fast. Let me know if you want it.:goodvibes
Geeze! It took me like a day to get behind on your TR!!!

Hmmm, how many steps?! Well, I know one person said that if it were too many you wouldn't have counted. Which makes sense but I know some pedometer have a step counter. My gut tells me to say 101, like in Dalmations!!

I remember our walk from the lobby of Jambo House to our room back in 05! :scared1: I swear to you it felt like it was a 1/2 mile!!!

Everytime someone mentions Kidani I get a little flutter of excitement!!! 9 more days!!!!!!
I'll just bet you are giddy with anticipation! I'm excited for you!
101 is already taken however, would you like to have 102? Let me know so I can get it recorded.....
I have your name with no number at the moment!
http://i625.photobucket.com/albums/tt335/wsushocker/spanking.jpg

"You can't make me have fun in Disneyworld!"
Wow, that looks just like us!
You are SO going to enjoy Kidani! I have only visited there, but I want to stay there some time, too! We have been to Sanaa a few times (3!) and loved the animal viewing area and the Lobby! Way cool!

But those corridors are MILES long....

WIGD -- we parked as soon as we got into the gate at Kidani Village for dinner at Sanaa -- not aware that the lobby and the restaurant were on the OTHER side  So we ended up walking inside the building vs. in the sweltering heat!
I don't blame you for walking inside, we never made it to Sanaa so I don't even know where it was located. Is it near the main lobby?
Did you happen to count your steps?:lmao:
I understand your worries. I stopped teaching for a few years and we went to Disney twice in January. Now that I am back to work we have to travel during vacations and I was concerned about it. My district doesn't allow me to take personal days near vacations or more than 3 in a row so that makes off season or long weekends almost impossible. We went last June and yes, it was HOT and more crowded but surprisingly, both DH and myself commented that we had more fun! So it is definitely doable!
By the way-I see you are from Southeast Virginia....I am in Suffolk-where are you?
We can't do more than 3 personal in a row either....
Even though it's hot, I love my late May, early June trips.:lovestruc

I think the bus experiences could drive our decision. I know I feared at CSR that we were far from MK, but it never seemed that long on the bus. I know AK is not much farther than CSR. The idea of walking to EPCOT or HS would really appeal to my parents and us too. Glad you liked AKV though... we could be stuck there. I pretty much rule out any other place for 2011 other than BC or AKV... although going back to the WL is tempting. I guess getting my hopes up is crazy too, but since I had such great luck at the 7 month window this time I won't ever not feel that it is worth a try.

Did you miss the CS? We would for sure eat breakfast in room. I am interested too in what Brooke had to say since she was at AKV too over the holidays.

I am in Newport News! Just a hop, skip, and a jump away-or a bridge-tunnel! ;) I have been to WDW in January, February, and October. Surprisingly, the first October trip was the coldest! The second October trip was HOT. We are thinking of going in August this year. The heat I am not so worried about. The crowds I am. I am interested to read this TR to see how much was accomplished!

Oh wow, you are almost neighbors!

I'm here.... I hope I'll be able to keep up!! 11(or more??) pages in 2 days??:faint:

I stayed at Kidani.... and I swear it was 2000 steps from the lobby to our room!
But! Since you are only going from the elevator... I will officially guess 36. I know our room was VERY close to an elevator... but without a car...it did us no good at all LOL!!

Paula
Hi Paula, let's make this clear.....
I'm talking about the main elevator, the lobby elevator...
Isn't this thread just crazy?
Woot! I'm having a great time! I can't wait to award the prize! It just needs to arrive in one of the boxes I shipped home....
I have you down for 36 steps but if you want to change that guess based on the information I just gave you feel free!:goodvibes;)
I'm happy with 14 steps. I should have checked before I guessed. Dooh!
I have it!

We really didn't miss the counter service, and we could have hopped a bus over to Jambo to eat at Mara anytime.
Marc said that a couple of the parks did seem a little far to him but he couldn't recall which ones the were and he never minds the rides anyway.
It's me that complains....
We had great service at the resorts and the parks. Much better than we have had at Saratoga.
Don't feel like you are going to get stuck staying there. I think you will enjoy it very much.
I know how your parents feel though, staying at Beach Club is so convenient love the IG and the boat to DHS....
Not crazy about the bus service to Beach Club though....lots of stops.
Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, yada, yada, yada.....
I guess nothing is perfect on all counts.

I did some reading on them before we said yes and it does seem that they can look quite different although most of the pictures I found look very similar to Hunny who in fact looks just like Tiger Wood's Goldendoodle Yogi. I'll bet the color just depends on the poodle's color don't you think?

The DVC hoodie came from SSR gift shop. I spied it on our last day and just had to have it. We had just shipped the last box home or it would still be out there in the land of UPS ground shipping.....
It's not the regular sweatshirt material, more like a double weight cotton t-shirt. Way comfy!

Hi Mike, thanks for delurking! Sorry about your pet....
we were just talking today about how happy we were to get Hunny at 3 years old. None of the puppy nonsense.
He has been an outside dog but was kept inside a bathroom at night.
He is totally housebroken.
Calms right down in the house.
Is great with kids, but not any kind of watch dog.
Typically is a non-shedding breed but he can let go with the fur when he's stressed.
We have had him three days and he's still shedding a little.
Hope this helps.
I have you down for 199 steps!
Honey Pot is adorable!! He's so much fluffier than our golden...I guess that's the doodle part...
Courtney is petitioning to make our Christmas trip an annual event. Next year on points, maybe?
I do think the doodle part is the fluffy part.

Maybe meet for dinner? Sleigh ride this time? Oh the possibilities....
You know it's probably just going to be the two of us....
Hunny Pot with his rubber chicken is a hoot!!! :rotfl:
Oh Jackie, he carries that thing everywhere. It's the one toy that the other two dogs had nothing to do with and he zoned in on it immediately. He takes it to his crate, then when he runs out and forgets it he goes back downstairs to get it. It's funny though, he never chews on it.
Hunny Pot is too darn cute!!! I love puppies!! I want another one and DH just rolls his eyes at me! We have a 100 lbs, 2 year old yellow lab named Pluto who is my 4th baby! I think he needs a furry friend ;)

I'll bet Pluto would love a brother or sister! I say just go for it! Yellow labs are very cute and cool dogs!

Her daddy Matt had been sick with the same bug the night before and on only two hours of sleep. He showed up at the airport, tired, weak and pale but unwilling to give up the trip he had looked so forward to. Here he is with my Megan, Harper's mommy getting ready to take off for Dallas!

http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq347/wigdoutdismom/037-9.jpg

Up next we have Keeley and Baylor. Don't they look happy? My how things change.....

http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq347/wigdoutdismom/038-9.jpg

Marc got sat behind the group, here he is by his lonesome....

http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq347/wigdoutdismom/039-7.jpg

Lastly here's me, so excited that I'm about to wet myself! We had all made it, Matt seemed OK, and everyone was going to my happy place. Well if you are reading this, it's your happy place too!

http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq347/wigdoutdismom/040-7.jpg

The flight to Dallas was 45 minutes, Matt, Megan and Harper slept. We got a quick snack at the airport and boarded for the flight to Orlando.
Someone one didn't feel so hot on this leg of the journey....
Can you guess who it was?

We were there last year for our spring break (mid March) and it was super crowded but the weather was awesome!
We got everything done!
Took advantage of fast passes, made sure we got the next one as soon as we could and even stock piled them.
Got to the parks early.
Avoided morning EMH parks....

Our dates for spring are April 4th-Easter but we arrive late to April 8th-we leave late afternoon. I know it will be uber crowded but this is just a bonus, surprise trip for the kids. When we bought our DVC contract we got '09 points so we are splurging this year. We're also going in June (23rd-July 2nd) and Christmas (most likely 26th-30 or 31st):thumbsup2

I am also a teacher. I home-schooled my kids for 6 years and then started teaching in a school again last year. I am so sad now -- without visiting the World during off times -- I am scared to attempt the busy season stuff! I am hoping to learn something from your TR's so I can conquer my fears and try June this year!:goodvibes

I am hoping for Beach Club next Christmas. Our problem booking it at 11 months is we just don't know what our school calendar is going to look like. I suppose we can book it and then change dates if we have to.

I really hope we are off before Christmas again. I so liked the dates of this past trip. It was nice going down as early as possible then back home on the 28th. Maybe we'll overlap at the end, but who knows if we don't have a bunch of time up front we may be there a bunch of days together.

We were in Disney from December 20th throught the 28th. Although our flight left so early on the 28th(6 AM)it didn't count as a day...l.
I was so relieved that everyone made it. I just knew if we could get them down to Orlando, they could rest up in the villa and enjoy some of their time in the parks.

Teen girls are tough, we keep worrying we are at the tip of the iceberg with K, have awesome and half...silent. Deathly silent.

The Ed Hardy stuff is cute, I'm surprised Evan isn't into it but I have been able to find good stuff online for him as he wants to dress like the big boys but isn't quite big enough! Zumiez, Vans and Aeropostale have youth sizes and decent selections.

The next time I start a new trip report I'll be more direct with the invite such as....
Dear Cherie,
I have started a new trip report.
If you want to get on page 1 you need to get your patootie over there pronto!
Love,
Anita

:rotfl2: It would also be helpful if you waited till I was home and didn't have to dis while in the bathroom.

Look what asking nicely gets me :) Great start. Harper is so cute. My mom used to say that poem about me. I say it about my 3 year old, sigh
