There was a thread here a few weeks ago about lists of wishes for Santa. What did everyone get?

DH bought me 2 - 8gig memory cards, a wireless setup that I can now run both external flashes and also has the capabilities for wireless shutter release. The BIG gift was a Tokina 10-17mm fisheye lens . I'm sure borrowlenses.com is going to miss my business :rotfl:.

I got mine a few weeks early (and picked it out), but I now have a Pentax K-x! It is still an entry level model, but a huge improvement over my K100D. I got the red one :thumbsup2

DH ummm I mean Santa got me a Tamron AF75-300mm and a Tamron 28-80mm lense and some filters. Can't wait to test them out at Disney. Plus I got enough cash to buy a new tripod and possibly the canon 50mm.

I got a Lensbaby 2.0. Liking it a lot so far; will have to wait until I get back home to post photos.

Since my family stopped exchanging gifts a few years ago and my mom and I just do the stocking stuffer thing I dont have any photo related goodies to report. My birthday is on Wednesday and I am considering ordering a remote release and possibly a lensbaby (Thanks Ann for the NAS on this one!) for myself as a happy birthday to me. Any new lens lust is going to have to be shelved for a little while because my 52" tv is dying a long, lingering, painful death and I am going to be upgrading that in the next few weeks. Its fun seeing what everyone else has gotten though ... it gives me ideas to look into and add to my wishlist.

DH remodeled our kitchen. :cloud9:
A new Grind and Brew coffee pot
My annual German Shepherd 2010 calendar
Coldwater Creek gift certificates
Jackson 5 Christmas Album

Photo stuff is on hold for a while, but I haven't had much time for it anyway.

Next up - a new sunroom and more (long awaited) renovations.

Photography related I got two 4 GB memory cards, a step up ring (72 to 77mm), a nice B+W circular polarizing filter and a 77mm lens cap. I plan on using it on my Tokina 11-16mm and my Canon 18-200mm. Next lens on the radar is a little expensive, Canon 24-105mm f/4L so I wanted to be able to use the filter on that one when I get it!

Non photography related I got a really nice necklace from DBF, the wii fit plus w/ balance board, clothes, some ornaments, work done on my car (thanks dad :)) and a Garmin GPS!

I mentioned to my (adult) kids that I wanted a new camera. I was looking at the Canon G11 but no one asked exactly what I wanted. So I got a Canon Rebel XSi. My goal is to be comfortable with it in March for Flower & Garden!

I picked up a reverse mount ring for my old 50mm for the poor mans macro setup and a cheap-o ND-8 filter (glass not plastic) to experiment with longer daylight exposures both on ebay for under $15.

My family does not buy me photo gear as my wishlist now starts at about $350.

Some odds & ends:
Lumiquest softbox 3 (at 8" x 9" gotta' be the largest softbox that velcros onto a flash);
cable release for our G11 & Xsi;
books on "Light:Science & Magic" and "Hot Shoe Diaries" (not so good review on Hot Shoe to come later);
GorillaTorch - not much for photography but one of the neatest flashlights there is.

I got a few photography related gifts! :)

an 8gb CF card (much needed!)
a lensbaby 2.0 (also blame Ann for spreading the NAS)
a Jill-E camera bag which sadly did not arrive in time for Christmas. My birthday is in 2 weeks, so my MIL gave me my b-day present for Christmas and will give me my Christmas present for my b-day. Here's what the bag looks like:

It is fun hearing about what everyone got for Christmas. I may put that Scott Kelby book on my b-day list!

Congratulations! That's exciting (both the DSLR and the March Disney trip...)

My sister got me a book of National Geographic photos with the stories behind them explained.

Parents got me an Amazon gift card that will help defray some upcoming purchase.

And a few weeks before Christmas I bought myself Manfrotto 190 CX3 tripod legs and 322 RC2 head. I put 'em away till Christmas so it would count as a present from DH... now I can start using 'em!

Sorry to hear that. I love both of those books, although for very different reasons.

My youngest got a Canon D10 (waterproof p&S). He loves it.

Santa wasn't impressed with my behavior this year, so I didn't get anything. My company was more impressed with me this year, so I'll have a good spring to make up for it. I'm hoping for an 85mm f/1.2, a 24mm TSE, either a 100-400mm or a 300 f/4, and possibly at 15mm fisheye. I also want another video camera and maybe a 7D. Oh, and maybe an Epson 3880.

Two smaller photography-related gifts - a DiCaPak waterproof case for my ultracompact T100 camera, and an 8GB Extreme III SDHC card for my DSLR. One somewhat photography-related gift - an Asus Eee1005 Seashell Netbook, which will be used for travel and portable web and e-mail access, and also as a backup portable harddrive for my camera when travelling! The rest was non-photo related - Santa was very good this year with his picks!

Much to my surprise, my dad bought me an SLR as a total surprise! He knew I had been eyeing one, but that I needed to save my pennies. Well, I'm now the proud owner of the Canon EOS Rebel T1i. Now I just need to figure out how to use it!

Well, mine is a combo Christmas-birthday-anniversary gift... but I am thrilled. A month ago my zoom lens dies never to be revived (11 years of hard use finally did it in!). So DH, FIL, MIL all pitched in & got me a Tamron 18-270 f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC lens with hood.
In other photography-related Christmas gifts, my DS received a new memory card for the Nikon L100 camera he bought this summer with his lawn-mowing earnings. And DD received a Nikon Coolpix S220 camera & memory card....just in time for our trip to WDW in January.
So we'll get 3 people's worth of pics....while poor DH will be stuck with the video cam... :thumbsup2

I got absolutely nothing photography related for Christmas (booooo)!! This year, DH and I decided to take a long weekend trip up to Boston over New Year's for the NHL's 2010 Winter Classic, so that was our gift to eachother. In other words, I sacrificed my Christmas presents so DH could go to the hockey game---that's what marriage really means, right? Compromise. :rolleyes1

I did, however, get enough cash for Christmas that I will be promptly buying a used copy of the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 lens that I have been drooling over for about a year. I hope to have it this Thursday, but if not, no later than this coming week. :woohoo:

What can I say---I'm a horse of a different color. :goodvibes If this was any old hockey game, I can't say I'd be so willing to sacrifice my gifts, but this is probably a once in our lifetime game so we might as well do it while we're able, right? :santa:

:rotfl2: I might be able to stop drooling over the 70-200, but I'm sure I'll find something new to drool over that I must have (like say maybe a faster walk-around lens like the 17-55 f/2.8 )

Ideally, I'd like a new copy of the lens because hey, it'd be new and have the warranty and all of that jazz, but at $1200 I couldn't pass it up. I'll be testing it out Thursday or Sunday and hope to have it in my grubby little paws by the end of the weekend. :hyper: :hyper:

I'm so excited!

Well, we got a lot of nice photography gifts this Christmas!A new Nikon D90 DSLR, a new Panasonic/Lumix point and shoot (Z3S-love the Leica lens), and money from Dad so I ordered 2 Lowepro bags, 2 SDHC 8GB class 6 cards, the D90 remote and a LCD screen protector for the Lumix.

I will list our 2 year old Canon Poweshot on Ebay with the water housing and pay for a bit of the new stuff;) :santa:

Santa may have been a bum this year, but that doesn't mean I can't get myself a few things. I forgot to add the new TVC-33 Versa Tripod from Really Right Stuff.

I'm also getting myself a new big screen to look at our pictures and video on. I'm replacing my old receiver, HTPC, projector, and screen. My old setup is 720p and is 5 years old. It's OK, but I'm ready for more pixels. At this point, I think I'm going with an Onkyo NR-3007 receiver, a Panasonic AE4000U 1080p projector, a 2.40:1 screen, a home brew masking system, and a home brew HTPC. If anyone has good, current HT knowledge and wants to make suggestions, PM me.

Santa may not like me, but I have the good fortune for work for a company that does. It also helps that our geologists have made some great discoveries this year. I'm not letting my wife waste all of our bonus money on pergolas, pathways, and landscaping this year.

While Santa conveniently didn't bring any photo equipment, my uncle did help out a ton. Btw, he's my godfather so when I list out what I got know that the only reason he dropped this on me is because he is my godfather.
I got his "old" and unused:
Canon 20D
4 lenses: 28-135mm, 75-300mm, 100mm, and a 200mm (huge thing that I have no clue when I'll ever use...)
Speedlight 550
I'm pretty happy with my uncle right now, even though he didn't take me to the Blackhawk's game the other night...

Would that be the Tiber Prospect discovery? That was BP's, right? I know you are in the petroleum industry to some extent, but not which company...if that's the one, I guess there may be some nice bonuses!

Wow some of you got some NICE stuff! My sister totally surprised me and got me a wireless remote and a 4 GB memory card. My parents also got me one which is good since were going to Ireland in July. I also splurgged a little on myself and found a Velbon Luxi-L tripod on Ebay. Ive been eying either the Luxi-L or the Luxi-M for a while but couldnt justify it - but for 100 bucks I went for it! Going to pick it up from the post office today!

Nothing photo for me. :( But that's OK, there's nothing much on my current wish-list outside of a 77mm F1.8 which is definitely more than I would expect anyone to spend on me! My wife got me almost nothing since she figures that since I bought myself a 47" TV, that should be enough. :) She felt bad on Christmas Eve and got me some new sneakers for our upcoming WDW trip. :)

I did get the 40th anniversary version of the Haunted Mansion: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies book, which is pretty good so far (about half-way through.) Lots of good info on my favorite ride. I will have to try to get some new shots of it next trip.

Oh, and the other things I got for Christmas - credit card bills! :scared1: Thank goodness they're rewards card... I just ordered my new Disney Rewards card with $186 on it. :thumbsup2

I know!!! Shocking isn't it!!!!

The do make a UK blue, but it is an import and runs around $950!! :scared1: Compared to the $550 I paid, I just couldn't justify the extra cost. I was realy close to getting white, but I worried that it would show dirt really bad and glare too much in this FL sun. I then leaned towards the navy blue, but it is glossy and that would drive me crazy! So, I couldn't just go with black, so I got a red one. I will be sure to wear my UK hat as to not confuse anyone on my loyalties :thumbsup2

I got a Pentax K-x. My Christmas bonus was $725 and I found the white K-x with 18-55mm lens for $510 on Amazon. A week later, they offered me a black one with the 18-55 and 55-300mm lenses for $612 as a Gold Box deal. Needless to say, the white one is going back. Even if the kit lens is sub-par, it's worth at least the $100 I figure.

Wow! Great deal.

Don't worry, Pentax makes a really good kit lens (as far as kit lenses go)...

And the 55-300 has gotten really good reviews for a "slow" zoom - and it alone sells for $350-400 at most places! I hope I don't see a deal like that, my wife wants a K-x and we've been spending too much money lately. :) (Of course, she wants an imported purple one...)
