Looking for WISHers on the course is sooo helpful for the athletes out there. We generally have WISH groups during both the full and half. If you're planning to scream team, let us know where you'll be!

I will be outside the Studios entrance for the full, that's somewhere between mile 23 and 24. I am planning to have licorice whips (very popular in the past!) and trying for oranges and maybe Fig Newtons.

I will be volunteering at mile 7 for the Full and then maybe head over to HS entrance area and then back over to EPCOT. No place inparticular.

My friend will be the medic at the TTC, she's not Wish, but knows that I am and she will take great care of anyone needing help......I know that she will have a huge stock of Biofreeze!!!!!

I'll be around somewhere screaming....it just depends on which chair i'm in at the time.

For the full Jim will be at red waterstop #2 and then heading to MGM to scream team like last year.

I have a suggestion for a great cheering location - at AK. The full course goes right by the front entrance of the park, so you can easily get there via a WDW bus. It is right at the start of the (IMO) yuckiest part of the course, that long boring stretch between AK and MGM that is nothing but overpasses and road. I'd have Jim cheering at AK, but that is the place I dropped out at in 2008 and I'm trying to avoid bad karma. However, other WISHers cheering there would be awesome.

Pat... Mom will be at AK cheering but she will probably be there after the resort buses start running. Not sure exact time she will show up but basically should be there when you, Anne, and me get there ;) She'll probably miss the fast ones. She will have her camera so smile! Her and Dad each bought themselves new cameras so she is trying to decide which one she will use on Marathon day LOL

She'll probably be on that curve that heads to the buses wearing her WISH shirt. Remember she is like many family members stepping in and doesn't know every face or every name so can be surprised when someone hollers at her, take a second to process and then ChEAR back. (must be a family trait cause I do the same LOL).

Thanks Screamers!!!! :grouphug: :cheer2: :flower3: :woohoo:

I am planning on having my DH and my sister and my 2 neices at AK somewhere - we will be staying at AKL so they don't have far to go to get there. Does anyone have any tips on them getting to AK and then over to the finish line - I know there is plenty of time since it will be about 2 - 2 1/2 hours before I get to the finish from the time we first get into AK.

We're staying at BCV so I'll probably be out on the path cheering everyone on to Epcot!!

Tricia once the parks open the buses run between AK and Epcot as part of the normal day. Mom just grabbed a bus to Epcot shortly after I passed and made it to inside Epcot to see me there. So your family should have plenty of time. She did mention being a bit worried thanks to such full buses with all the other racer's families and then the normal traffic. She made it but I think it gave her a bit of a worry standing there waiting for the next bus to pull up.

Sandy remember to post on the volunteer thread, someone might be able to pick you up that is also volunteering :thumbsup2 Regardless of where you find yourself that day it will be most appreciated. :thumbsup2

Thanks!! :thumbsup2

I remember thinking at the time we could rent a car - but its not going to happen - now how am I going to volunteer?

Leave it to the Wish'ers to be there!!

I signed up for the Red Water Stop when the Wish team first posted about it!

I, too, appreciate all the scream teamers along the course. It is such a happy site to see and hear our WISH teammates (especially when I feel like I'm dying out there).

Pat - I agree with you about the stretch between AK and MGM. So boring. I also dropped out at AK in 2008, so I'm looking forward to getting past that point this year.

The other kinda "wall" for me is the turn around stretch before getting to MGM. I really dislike that part of the course.

I'll be at the back of the pack, too, so all support is appreciated!

I will be out there scream teaming for both races. Since I will have Zack in tow, I am just going to play it by ear. To keep him entertained, I might go old school and just chase Chad around the course like I used to do pre-WISH.

Last year I cheered at BCV for hours and Zack was SO bored! he had zero interest in cheering. I had my parents to come take him back to the room. This year it's just me (no family with us).

I might try to bring a DVD player to keep him busy...

Pat - if you want me to avoid AK also, just say so, ok?

Coherence and thanks are not required. Most of us have been there and understand.

I usually have a small supply of band-aids, Biofreeze packets, Gatorade and whatever other supplies I can scare-up as well. If it's warm, we'll try to get ice, but may rely on BCV folks for that. If there are no WISHers planning to be at BCV, we may head over there.

Hey Kristi--how hard was it to get to AK? I'm debating trying to get out there after I see Krista at mile 13-ish, but I'd hate to get stuck on a 2 hour bus ride.

Whadya think?

Steve..Steve, in 2006 I had no problems taking a bus from Pop to AK and getting there in a timely manner on Sunday morning.

Getting to Ak is not an issue if that is your destination from a resort. The issue you read about is when you are trying to get there while following one particular runner.

Thank you for being out there!

I am running in a non-WISH disguise. Sorry, I really was focussed on other things and am not wearing the 'official' WISH Wear. I'll let you know when I come through!

So is it hard for spectators to get out of AK to get to Epcot for the finish? Or is that do-able?

I won't be wearing Wish stuff either. I am going to be wearing a red shirt for my charity Rally Foundation - I think on the front it says Rally Athlete and on the back it says Rally Foundation. I have 2 shirts - 1 for the 1/2 and 1 for the full. I will be wearing my Rally Athlete t-shirt at the Pop meet on Friday.

Tricia,

My Mom used the bus to go between AK and Epcot during the 2008 Marathon. There was a bit of a line since quite a few others were doing the same ;)

Not sure on the cars. Kristi was there too and I kept thinking she had a car that year? Her and Jim had been at WS 2 then moved to AK so I figured she drove themselves to AK and then to Epcot?

It is doable...

The bigger issue is geting from the MK resort area to AK before your runner. (Runner goes 4 miles while spectator can take over an hour)

If you are starting at AK then you should be fine. (runner has 9 miles so spectator has a lot more time)

Take bussing, try to leave roadways as open as they can be.

Is it possible to Scream Team for the 5K? My SIL and BIL are doing it for the first time, and I'd like to support them (and the other WISHers!), I just don't have any experience with how that race works?

You can cheer at the start and finish of the 5K since it is in the parking lot, but they do not open the park for cheering.

That's probably just as well -- I'm sure they'll have plenty to enjoy seeing on the course, anyway. Is there a resort bus for 5K participants (i.e. does it work the same way as the Half and Full?), if so we could ride over with them, wait while they race, and then catch a bus back to the resort. I think that might be a really fun way to start the day...

Busses work the same way as they do for the Half and Full. You can probably find more info on them (when they are running, etc) in the 5K final race instructions or the Marathon weekend guide.

Mel - Thanks so much for starting this thread since I was looking for the info myself:thumbsup2

DD's 8 & 12 as well as myself and possibly DH will be scream teaming on Main Street in MK as well as at Beach Club. I'll have a long-sleeve WISH shirt on and my DD's may as well:banana: We'll have goodies for runners too:goodvibes

Cancer may keep me from running the marathon this year but it won't keep me from cheering for every last one of the WISH'ers on marathon Sunday:grouphug: I wouldn't miss that for the world:love:

Hey Kristi--how hard was it to get to AK? I'm debating trying to get out there after I see Krista at mile 13-ish, but I'd hate to get stuck on a 2 hour bus ride.

I used to always follow Chad around during the full - my own little marathon. :rotfl: I always parked at EPCOT when they opened up around 7am. I would then monorail to MK. I sometimes saw him on Main St. or I'd monorail over to the GF and see him there. Then I would bus it over to AK. I always made it there with time to spare. I don't remember having any huge traffic problems, but it's been a couple years since I've done this.

From AK, I would bus it to MGM. If I missed Chad there, I would immediately bus it back to Epcot. I used to have an AP, so I would head into the park to see Chad inside EPCOT somewhere (getting to the finish line is impossible, as you know). Then I'd find him in the meeting area and drive him back to the resort.

Good years where the stars aligned, I would see him 4 times along the route. The best was the year I saw him at AK, then got on the bus to MGM. While on the bus, we saw each other. I was waving like a crazy person in the bus and saying "Go Chad!" :cheer2:

I might attempt a version of this this year. With Zack it should be interesting though!

I will be scream teaming for the full. I will start at the Ticket & Transportation Center. When John passes I will head to the Poly. From there I will head to the Out & Back. I know I will miss all you speedy folks, but I am hoping to stay out there until the last Wisher passes. I will have with me at the Out & Back.....wet washcloths, twizzlers & pretzels. I will also have some emergency supplies (salt, sport beans/gu's, bandaids, moleskin, & anything else I can think of & carry. If anyone needs anything, please ask. If I don't have it I will try texting someone up ahead to see if they have it.

If you have never scream teamed before, please consider doing so. It is very rewarding. The racers really appreciate it. Especially those at the very back. When you see them struggling, dragging, hurting....your words of encouragement brings a smile to their face & a little bounce to their step, even if it is only for a few steps. The Wish Scream Team really does help pull some through the course. I know it did for me when I did my first (and only) full marathon a couple of years ago.

Karen, Steve might want to join you for the out and back. He'll probably want to wait for me to pass the Poly, though. Are you going to drive to the out and back? We might rent a car for that day so he can drive around. Also, if it works out, we might get some oranges to cut up and hand out to the WISHers. Still trying to work out logistics for that.

Also, for all you scream teamers, we REALLY appreciate you cheering us on. Keep in mind, many of us will be in the back of the pack. I'm afraid I'm going to need every second I can get.

At the west end of that stretch (mile 20) is the out and back. It's only a half mile out and a half mile back so we celebrate both miles posts in that segment.

We are lucky, the out and back used to go all the way to Victory Drive, turn towrads WWoS and go about a quarter mile down that road, then return.

My dad and his wife should be out on the course cheering during the full marathon around TTC, Grand Floridian or Poly and then somewhere in or around EPCOT. They don't quite get the whole WISH/DIS thing, but I've got WISH shirts for both of them and have given them explicit directions to cheer extra loud for the WISHers. Since I'm running with TnT this year, they'll also be holding a TnT banner. I'll be out there huffing and puffing my way through my first full...thanks in advance for all the cheers and support. If you see someone wearing a purple TnT shirt and a WISH hat...it's probably me!

Since I will not be running either race this year ... I will be cheering for both....

It seems my Twizzler Idea has taken off and lots of people are planning on bringing them.... I am bringing my usual supply... but have gotten more since I will be doing both races.. and Rhonda & Michael have contributed to the Twizzler fund :) They are great because they are so handy and quick sugar.. and they are easy to pass out! Love it!!

Anyone who wants to tag along with me for my cheering marathon... feel free! I move around alot.. and I move quickly! All Disney Transportation.. I managed 6 places for the full year before last.. and stayed till each wisher passed in each location.

Okay.. I am trying to figure out the order of my cheering for the 1/2.. even though I have run it many times.. I am drawing a blank right now as to the direction of the course! I am thinking Pre-start to wish everyone well..then Monorail to TTC....walk over to Poly/Grand Floridian....Walk back to Monorail to Epcot.....Then W Tent.... I Would love to get to the overpass to pay Homage to Matt ;) But I don't think I am as clever as he! LOL....

Full - Volunteering at Red Water Stop #2... Then Since we have lots of representation at MGM.. Bus to AK for a while...... then MGM Entrance...... then Finish....

I will be taking LOTS of photos as well.... Karen and I usually communicate very well to pass info along to whomever is ahead... So.. this thread is a great idea.... gives us an idea of who is where :) Let us know what you need and we will do our very best to make it happen for you!!

As a runner I say THANK YOU. As a runner not running in purple or WISH Green, I say please yell for everyone. It is really disheartening to run through a crowd of spectators who are deathly silent only to hear the ramp it up with "GO TEAM" as you pass through.

I know from experience that your fellow WISH Sreamers will not let you be selective.

Again thanks for yelling.
