My iPod died on me last Friday after 3 good years of service. Actually it started shocking me every time I tried to use it.
So anyway, Santa didn't bring me a new one, so I will have to buy it myself. I can't decide if I should stick with the Nano or go with the iPod Touch. I have the first video iPod and pretty much use it just for podcasts, or listening to music in the car. Once in a while I will watch a tv show. I already have a Droid phone so I don't have a terrible craving for a touch screen or apps.
Can you give me your thoughts on the Nano vs the Touch?

Hello
I will be honest and say that im a happy ipod touch owner (would be even happier with an iphone though :thumbsup2) so i may be a bit biased in my views
Nano, very small, nice range of colours, now with video
Touch, one word - APPS, i purchased mine when my ipod mini died and thought that i would only want music on it but the apps availability is out of this world. Over 90000 apps on the app store and yes some are useless (who in their right mind would use their ipod as a shopping list for christmas food shopping?) but some are brilliant and you can get eTicket on the touch as well.
I think it comes to personal choice, the nano is small and touch is great, sorry quite big.
Go and visit an Apple store and play with both and then find the best deal for what you want.
Good Luck

I had this problem also. I have never had an Ipod so I really wasn't sure what I wanted. I finally got the new Nano because I figured I really didn't need the web since I am hardly ever away from a computer. I got the Nano now but I tell you I still wonder if I should have sprung the extra dough for the Itouch. It seems like EVERYONE has one and I wonder if I am missing out on something.
I just started to get my Ipod Nano working. Of course I had to have my DS help me:rolleyes:

Eticket rocks! I'm using it on my touch to post this and it makes it so easy to DIS. I just got mine as an upgrade to nano and if you are like me and don't have a laptop or fancy phone it will delight you.

I'm in the same position, choosing between a touch and nano. I'm going with a nano and holding out hope the rumors are true that the iphone will be on Verizon in the summer.

Yikes, if your iPod is shocking you, I'd contact Apple and see if you get anything out of it, even though it's out of warranty.

If you listen to podcasts, you may want to look at the iPod Classic because of the larger amount of disk space. I have both a Nano and a Touch, and I've previously had a 30 GB iPod Video. I really miss the space on the Video, but I love both of my iPods.
Out of the two, I would probably get a 32GB Touch. The apps are awesome, not to mention the enhanced video viewing with a larger screen. :)

I am in the same boat as well. the touch is sooo tempting! The work though I do alot of stand up things where I can listen but not look. Will I 'use' the touch enough. but I have no need for the vid camera on the nano. I just bought a vid camera and it is lovely and small.
I could use the touch (reading on it, watching movies, surfing) while dd is at her lessons, I guess..but during the day, when I am working, I just want to listen to music.

I decided on the iPod Touch. I really needed more memory than the Nano could handle, and it would have cost me just as much to order an iPod Classic as it did the 32gig Touch. It should be here by Sunday so I will let you know what I think of it.
It will be interesting to compare it and my Droid side by side.
