My office gave away 3 IMacs at our Christmas Party this year. There were 3 VERY happy people that day. I still fire up my Mac LC every once in a while.

So far...the only thing I kinda miss is Outlook.

I am using Entourage and I'm sure it will become as familiar as Outlook, but currently it's not.

Loving the iMac.

And I'm loving the Magic Mouse. One thing that's differnt is the amount of real estate you have to cover on the iMac. My laptop screen was MUCH smaller and you moved across it at warp speed. Everything on this is so far apart.

just wait till you start using spaces and having items on multiple desktops! It's crazy crazy fun!

I went MBP last oct and will never go back! I have a work at home Tech support job now though, so I'm really hoping to get an imac in the next year. I would love a full all out desktop now that I have this job. I need lots of room to do things...preferably dual monitors.

Congrats! Here's thinking your going to love it!

I have a 24" from 2 years ago, it replaced an aging Powermac I had been using, which is now relegated to "file server" duty. Even after 2 years, it still holds it's own, even with the heavy duty stuff I do on it. (Aperture, Final Cut etc.).

On a side note though, we are now a 100% Mac house! My wife's birthday was on the 20th, and I got her a new unibody Macbook to replace her old Windows laptop. That's 3 Macs, 4 iPods, and 1 iPhone in the house now. I think Apple owes me something, LOL.

Have fun with the new iMac - they are a GREAT value any way you look at it!

Congrats! I got a new 21" iMac for Christmas, too. Love it! I made the switch to Mac a few months ago and haven't regretted it for a moment.

Entourage is pretty similar to Outlook. I used it initially, since it was more familiar to me, but then eventually migrated over to Apple Mail. I prefer it - it's less busy and more "Apple-y."

I guess I fooled Santa into thinking I was good too.
I got a new 13 inch MacBookPro for Christmas too.

The working Apple computers officially outnumber the people in our house. We have 3 people and 6 working Mac computers.
We have a 10 yr old iMac (maybe older), my 5 yr old Powerbook, my new MacBook Pro, my DH's Macbook, an old first version iBook and an old iBook that was modified into a tablet as a communication device.
Also, 3 iPod minis (all still work, despite DD dropping hers at least once a week) and 3 iPod touch (touches?)

Oh, yes, we have one Windows machine - a tablet computer that was used by my DD as a communication device, but the longest it worked at a stretch without having some issue with Windows was about 3 months.

I got the new iMac for Christmas too and love, love, love it. It replaces my old iMac. Mine is the 27 inch and the screen is so wide it is definitely going to take some getting used to. I thought I would hate the Mighty Mouse because it looked like the old 1 button, but it is incredible. I love the interface. I love having no cords for the keyboard and the mouse too. Best Christmas present ever.

Funny - I'm loving Safari more and more now. Its much faster than Firefox. I still keep FF around for some things but even that is fading.

Of course, in the office where I'm stuck with a Windows machine, I use FF over IE all the time. Much to the chagrin of our IT folks.

This mirrors me now. I keep Firefox on the Mac as there are a few rare sites I visit where it just works a bit better. However, overall, I love Safari. It's cleaner, snappier and well, I just like it. :)

In the office, it's a different story. As we are a windows shop, we have a choice of IE or Firefox. Firefox is my #1 choice there.

I actually have not downloaded Firefox to my new computer yet.
I had and used both on my old computer - some sites worked better with Firefox and some with Safari. I do agree that Safari seems faster and I like the preview pictures of bookmarks and frequently visited sites.

Wow, Santa was pretty busy at your place! I've had an iMac since 2006 and I LOVE IT. I will join the chorus about Firefox over Safari. I like it a lot better.

Since I build all our machines, Firefox is the default browser for every machine in our district! About 1000 of them. I haven't given safari a chance in a year or more, maybe I'll try it out for size again. I'd be very surprised if I take a lik'en to it however.

Congrats on the new iMac Kevin!

I am going to buy a new 21" iMac when our tax return comes in this year. It's my belated Christmas/Birthday present. We are a mostly PC household because I could never justify the cost of a mac desktop. I finally can justify it, after going through 2 desktop PCs in the lifespan of one iBook. My iBook is 5 years old and still runs great! It's slow by today's standards, but for web browsing and word processing its still excellent. I'm hoping the new iMac will hold as well as the old iBook does!

Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2 Get it...awesome!!

Must have game = Little Big Planet! And the theres POTC levels and characters as downloadable content! But I agree, MW2 is a great game, not played it on PS3, since my main console is Xbox 360, mixed with a little PC gaming, thus I only own 5 games for the PS3 :P

Hope you enjoy the iMac Kevin, maybe oneday I'll learn to be able to not get frustrated at one, for not being a PC, and a lack of a right mouse button, and not being able to play Left 4 Dead :)

Hot rumor is that they are announcing a Kindle-killer in late January.

B&N's nook was supposed to be a Kindle - killer.

This is the third time I've posted this....but the word is that Apple is releasing a tablet PC that will have the ability to read ebooks.

This ability has been around for about 10 years and has always been a disaster.

It's not comfortable to read on a computer screen

Ereaders mimic paper. They are not backlit as the screens are opaque.

Anyone with a netbook can currently read on their device. This hasnt killed the Kindle either.

I dont know about you....but I dont want my book to beep, buzz, ring, play music or movies or any of the other things this tablet is supposed to be able to do. I want my ereader to offer the opportunity to read books.

Be careful what you wish for Kevin.

You would then have to buy proprietary tires, gas and oil. All of which will be 3 times more than for other cars.

All of our laptops were stolen back in November. I bought a netbook for my brother to be able to get onto the internet until I could replace them. Well, Best Buy had a good deal on the macbook, the basic 13" model. So I bought it for him for Christmas. He doesn't like it. I don't get it, I loved my Apple Air (also stolen). So it looks like I now have a 13" macbook. I'm kind of bummed because I wanted to replace my air w/ another air.

I haven't decided for sure to keep this one, but they will change me 15% restocking fee, which is ridiculous. I wanted to give them a call and see if they would bypass the restocking fee, if I bought an Air instead.
