This will be my second attempt at writing a PTR for my upcoming trip in March. I had originally started back in the spring and kept up with it for several months until “life” got in the way. I was mostly suffering from a difficult pregnancy that had prevented me from doing pretty much anything so of course my PTR was put on the back burner. But as of 8 days ago, I am NO longer pregnant and recovering from child birth while my dear husband helps take care of some of the household chores, so I thought now is a better time then any to get restarted. We leave in a little over 2 months to go so I have LOTS of planning to do until then and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. :scared1: But half the fun is planning, right?

For those of you who are new here’s a list of the cast…. And for those of you who have been following along with me all along I have a new cast member to introduce you too.

THE CAST

Me: (Deanna) I’m a 31 year old SAHM to the best little girl in the world. ((and now son)) I fell in LOVE with WDW on my very first visit back in 1996, when I got to go as a gift for my High School graduation. Since then I’ve been 7 times and even got married there back in 2001.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip014-4.jpg

DD: (Reya) 3 year old beautiful, sweet, smart little girl. princess: This will be her 2nd visit to WDW. She’s in LOVE with Wall-e, Snow WIPE (aka snow white) , and Tinkerbell. Every time she see’s Cinderellas Castle she begs to go to Disney World, so I just couldn’t say “NO” any longer. We kept telling her that once the baby arrived that we would be going. So she's a little upset that the baby is no longer "stuck" in mommys belly and we're still not on a plane heading for Orlando.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/10517_1250358258532_1216743163_3076.jpg

DH: (Will) 33 year old investment broker. He’s the best daddy and husband in the world. I’m truly thankful that he works so hard to make sure that we’re able travel as much as we’re able. And I know that he secretly loves WDW just as much as I do.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip204-1.jpg

Nieces: (Breanna) 9 years old (Valerie) 7 years old : These days they’re not much into the Princess thing, they’re more into the VAMPIRE thing. LOL. :sad2: Both addicted to Twilight, but of course still love WDW. They’ve both been about 24 times. They moved to Florida for about 6 months a couple years ago and were able to visit WDW just about every other weekend. Are SUPER excited to go back.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/August2008007-2.jpg

SIL/BIL: (Marsha and Victor) I’m lucky to have such a wonderful SIL and BIL that I get along with. We have a fabulous time when we vacation together and this is going to be the best of the best. The only problem I see us running into is that I'm more of a planner and they're more of a "play it by ear" kinda couple. Should be interesting. :rolleyes:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/August2008052-1.jpg

DS: (Jayden) 8 days old. ((Born 12/15)) 6lbs 7oz 19.5 inches. Doesn’t do much but eat, poop, sleep, eat, poop, sleep. LOL!! He’s the best cuddle bug in the world and I’m so blessed to have him in my life.

Our airline reservations are all set.

We’re leaving Denver on March 4th at 8:05 am arriving into Orlando at 1:31pm.

AND

Leaving Orlando on March 14th at 5:40 pm arriving in Denver at 7:40 pm.

Daylight savings ends on this day so we’ll be loosing another hour so I’m glad we made reservations for later in the day.

I still need to call United Airlines to add Jayden to the itinerary. The reservation guy laughed his butt off when I tried adding him before he was born. It’s hard to believe that he’s finally here.

I’m glad at least 1 thing is done and set in stone. Now I just got to figure out how I’m going to minimize stuff to pack. A baby has an alarming amount of things he needs for a vacation, not to mention what I need and what a preschooler needs. I think the cost of our luggage is going to cost more then what it cost to purchase the airline tickets.

Our hotel reservations have been made. We’ve decided to stay at Lake Buena Vista Resort Village and Spa. We’re splitting the cost with my sister-in-law and only paying $950.00 for 10 nights. :banana

We’ll be staying in a 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo. I definitely like the location and they have an amazing pool with a pirate ship/slide for the kids. Also have a restaurant, pizza hut express, store, game room, exercise room, and are located right next door to the Outlet stores. I Think and hope we made the right decision. I looked into staying on property at Disney World but couldn’t justify spending twice the amount of money for a standard size hotel room.

Here’s a picture of the condo layout.

Well I guess I’m going to begin the process of deciding on ADR’s. I hope it's not to late to get whatever I decide on. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out what I want as early as tomorrow so I can call reservations. I've really put this off for WAY too long, but I think I had a good excuse. ;)

~~~~~
When I took my DD to DLR a year ago she was pretty much terrified of all the Characters,:scared1: so when we did the Lilo and Stitch breakfast it was pretty much a waste of money, but my sweet niece and nephew had the time of there lives, so it was worth every penny to see them have a great time at least. :goodvibes((pictures below))
I think I might go ahead and chance it and do at least ONE character breakfast this upcoming trip, I’m hoping she’ll outgrow her fear by March.?!?:confused3
Since I’m new at the character breakfast thing, what are the best ones to do?!? Any suggestions would be helpful.
I’m going to make an ADR for the CRT for sure. She’s definitely into the Princess thing now, and she’ll absolutely pee her pants when she sees Snow “Wipe”!princess:
This is what my poor DD did the entire breakfast ~~ Clung to her daddy
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon424.jpg
What I had REALLY enjoyed about this particular Character Breakfast was that the characters actually spent time with the kids. They didn’t just hang around for a second, get their pictures taken and move on. So I’m really hoping to find a similar CBprincess: on our next trip.
Hi there! Love the pics of your son! Your DD is adorable too. I love her blue eyes. I have one with those mesmerizing blues also. :goodvibes
Sounds like a good trip in the making. I have one BIL and SIL that I would have a blast traveling with but we've never done it. My sis and her DH get on my nerves when we travel, and my other SIL I'd probably throttle before the trip were over! I hope your nieces will play along with the princess magic just for this trip.
Which kids get the twin beds? Are they bringing in a roll-away or crib for your newborn? Packing for babies is insane!!! Good luck with the baggage check-in guys!
Thanks. :)
I took a trip with my brother's wife to California back in June, and it was a complete disaster. By the time we got back to Colorado we were no longer speaking to each other. ((and we drove)) :scared1: So I definately couldn't do this trip with her, but I get along beautifully with my husbands sister and am really looking foward to vacationing with her.
We were thinking about pushing the two beds together, getting a child's blow up bed, or having one of the kids stay on the pull out couch. Haven't decided yet. And we were probably going to bring jayden's pack and play, but that would cost us a total of 40.00 to transport it. :confused: Right now he sleeps in his baby bouncer so maybe we could take it apart and pack it up.
I have narrowed down my CHARACTER BREAKFAST selections down to the following:
**Ohanas
**Chef Mickey’s
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/DL_CMB_2401.jpg
**Donald’s Safari at Tusker House
**Crystal Palace
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/DL_CRYSPAL_2401.jpg
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated
We will definitely do CRT one morning. I’m not sure if my SIL and her family will join us since her daughters aren’t really into the princess thing anymore. I would understand if they couldn’t justify spending almost $100.00 for breakfast for that reason. ((I hope they do though))
I’ll just tell the girls that there might be some vampire’s there ….. They hang out in castles, Right?!? :lmao:
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/DL_CRT_2401.jpg
So then we just need to decide on ONE character breakfast. I’m not going to do anymore then that cause we can save ourselves a LOT of money by utilizing our kitchen in the mornings for breakfast.
Now I need to think about lunch and dinners.
Mmmmmmmmm ……… I love thinking about food! :love:
When my family and I went to Disney in September I had put together some gift bags ((from Tinkerbell and Mickey)) for each of the kids.
They absolutely LOVED getting such a big surprise before heading out to the parks, plus they had some pretty great items to play with in the hotel room each night during our stay.
Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to go way out like I did last year because of luggage space. I might put together a small gift bag for Reya and buy the other two girls their first lanyard and pins, plus some Disney Dollars.
Any Suggestions?
Here’s some pictures of the kids getting there bags:
Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy!!
Your condo is beautiful...we went in August and stayed with my sister, BIL, and my 2 nieces at Saratoga Springs for 5 days, then AKL for 5 days and it was great..we love vacationing together. My nieces love having my daughter along and so do the adults as mine is 17 and will take the kiddies on rides we don't want to do....or when we're having a grey goose slushie.
Can't wait to read more!!
As for reservations I don't have any experience, but I can give opinions. ;) We are definitely doing CRT, as we have never been to WDW world before and I think that one would be most memorable over-all, with the atmosphere as well as princesses. My youngest likes Mickey and gang but the trip is for my oldest. I figure my youngest doesn't know that the other meals exist, and she'll have several opportunities to meet Mickey, etc during the trip not involving food and money. Are you looking to do one more in addition to CRT?
I'd probably skip the packNplay also. My youngest slept in her bouncer for the first few months too. That would be way easier. (and cheaper!)
Thank you for the Congrats! We are extremely overjoyed and SLEEP deprived.
I'm really looking foward to having the extra hands to help with the kids. And I love knowing that we don't have to miss out on any rides, because of those extra hands. I'm truly looking forward to having myself a nice adult beverage or two as well. It's been a LONG, LONG time.
Thanks for reading along. :goodvibes
I would like to make reservations for one more character breakfast just to have it. But there is a good chance that we would have to cancel once on the trip because I'm not sure how my DD is going to react to the costumed characters this time around. I'm NOT going to spend a fortune on breakfast if she's going to be hiding under the table the whole time. :sad2: I know she's going to absolutely LOVE the princess one though and I'm probably looking forward to that more then anything else.
I probably will skip the pack n play or call the hotel to see if they offer cribs. Most likely I'll just bring the bouncer "if" it will fit in the suitcase. Or buy one when I get out there, that would still be cheaper then paying for the pack n' play as luggage. (((SO SAD))
I have to admit one of the things I’m really, really, really looking forward to on our next trip is the Pin Trading. ((for my DD))
My DH and I never understood the obsession with it and never had the desire to do it until our Disney trip last year. Before we left for Disney I had bought my DD a lanyard and a bunch of pins on Ebay, and sooooo glad I did. She was only 2 ½ and had sooooo much fun with it, so I know she’s going to enjoy it even more when we go to Disney World and she’ll be almost 4.
I think I’m going to start looking and buying pins soon!! :banana::banana:
Cutest pictures!!! My DD17 pin traded when she was 8, 10 and 12 and then she didn't want to do it anymore. I was a little heartbroken as I love those pins. One Christmas I decided instead of these 3 lanyards hanging in her closest with all these gorgeous pins, I was going to take them to Michael's and have shadow boxes made....they are gorgeous, and now they hang on her bedroom wall. I still miss pin trading and try and convince her that she's not too old...I think the August heat the last few trips has been the culprit though;)
I don't know if I'm too late to get my vote in BUT: I would not chose Crystal Palace cause you were just there, right? I want to eat at Ohana but have not heard fabulous things about the character interaction there unless you're really into Stitch. Tusker House might be good due to the fact taht it's new so that's my vote! :D
Glad to be here!
I followed your link to the new PTR...I'm here too!! :goodvibes
If I'm not too late to cast my vote, I would go for Crystal Palace or 'Ohanas. Chef Mickey's we tried for the first time in Sept for dinner, but it was a madhouse. I'd imagine it would be similar madness at breakfast. Tusker House had really great food, but it is also a bit crowded and rushed.
'Ohanas had really good food and since it was family style you didn't have to worry about going up to the buffet and missing the characters. Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Donald were great with my DS-3.
Crystal Palace is one of my favorites for B,L or D, but especially breakfast. Pooh and the gang are always great and this restaurant is smaller and not as crazy as Tusker House and Chef Mickey's.
Well that's my 2 cents on the CB. Hope it helps! ;)
On the gift bags, really cute idea. I like to give my son little treats too, so I brought several small gifts from the Disney Store, Target (Dollar Section is great for Disney stuff). I would give him one or two little things each day so he had a little surprise each night or morning. Maybe a few smaller things would cut down on the extra packing?!? :laughing:
Looks like we're going the same day, although we'll arrive late afternoon/evening on March 4th as we're driving up after work. Unfortunately, we're only staying through Sunday, just a quick trip to do the Royal Family 5K with my DSis and DMom with DS, DH and DDad as our cheerleaders :)
Looking forward to more planning updates popcorn::
ADR'S are all set. I didn't choose to many because we figure we'll prepare a LOT of meals at the condo and have dinner's at restaurants outside of the parks. ((So much cheaper going to Chili's or McDonalds))
* March 5th: 50's Prime Time Cafe 12:55pm
* March 6th: CRT Breakfast 8:20am
* March 7th: Planet hollywood 7:00pm
* March 8th: Rainforest Cafe' 1:15pm ((at Animal Kingdom))
* March 12th: Crystal Palace breakfast 8:25am
Might make more ADR'S if something strikes my fancy later on.
I also really wanted to make reservations for TREX cafe' but couldn't find ANY openings during our stay? Is it really that popular or do they not take ADR's?
It looks like you are all going to have a wonderful trip! I can't wait to hear all about it.
On my recent Dec. trip we did 2 character breakfasts, Akerhaus and Chef Mickeys. We were just 2 adults, but we had a great chance to watch the characters interacting with all the kids around us. The princesses were wonderful at Akerhaus. Lots of interaction, and they really seemed to take the time and interact with each child. Chef Mickey's was much more rushed. The room seemed much too big for the characters roaming around. I'd guess some people might have missed a few of the characters, and they didn't really have alot of time to take at each table.
I hope your DD is more at ease with them this trip. At least now she'll know what to expect. I'm sure she's going to love the Princesses at least!
WOW!! I can't believe that we leave in 14 days!!!! I have one bag completely packed up already and was able to get our rental cars at a cheaper price yesterday. We're saving an extra $100.00 per car, so now I don't feel so bad about the cost of checking our luggage.
I am STRESSING out big time though, because my husband received some REALLY bad news yesterday. He works in the financial industry and almost 1/2 of his co-workers were laid off and he was told that if he wanted to keep his job he needed to take a 25% yearly paycut.. We're going to need to budget our trip BIG time now and still try to have a good time. Everything is already paid for, so of course we can't cancel our trip. I'm trying really hard not to freak out to badly yet until we get back from our vacation. I'm hoping that Disney works it's magic on me and I won't think of all our troubles while we're there.
Sorry, I haven't been keeping up on this PTR like I had hoped, but I PROMISE to take a million pictures and to do a fabulous TR when I get back.
My little boy just turned two months old and is keeping me busy, busy, busy!!!
He works in the financial industry and almost 1/2 of his co-workers were laid off and he was told that if he wanted to keep his job he needed to take a 25% yearly paycut.. We're going to need to budget our trip BIG time now and still try to have a good time. Everything is already paid for, so of course we can't cancel our trip. I'm trying really hard not to freak out to badly yet until we get back from our vacation. I'm hoping that Disney works it's magic on me and I won't think of all our troubles while we're there.
Sorry, I haven't been keeping up on this PTR like I had hoped, but I PROMISE to take a million pictures and to do a fabulous TR when I get back.
My little boy just turned two months old and is keeping me busy, busy, busy!!!
Good to hear you will enjoy and leave the worries behind! Nice, 10 days! Seeing the castle always keeps me in my happy place, heck, seeing a Disney bus gets me to my happy place when I'm in my happy place, WDW! :lmao:
We have a short trip this time, just a long weekend basically (perk and downfall of living within 4 hours drive, usually only short trips?!? :confused3).
We arrive Thursday 3/4 evening and leave on Sunday 3/7. My DMom, DSis and I are doing the 5K on Saturday and doing a bit of park touring with DH, DS, and DDad on Friday and Saturday. Looks like we'll be at EP on Friday 3/5 and MK on Saturday 3/6. DSis is flying in from Seattle so we have to pack in all the "aunty" time we can for DS in just 2 days :scared1: but it's all good, we'll be in DISNEY!!! :banana:
Oh, almost forgot, we're staying at the ASMu.
Have a fabulous trip!! :thumbsup2
Hey Deanna! All your plans sound great! We did breakfast at CP last trip and loved it, best service we had all week and the French toast puffs are so yummy!
I can't believe how much Reya has grown since I last saw pics of her - she's not bald anymore! And your new baby boy is adorable :goodvibes
Sorry to hear about the news with your DHs job, hopefully it will just be temporary.
Thank you!!! It's been a little difficult preparing for this vacation now, but once I see Cinderella's castle, all my troubles will disappear for 10 days. You're right, I have worked really hard for this trip and I need to enjoy it.
Followed your link and subbing! Made it just in time too, you leave so soon! I bet you're so excited!
Are you all packed yet? Travelling with small children and baggage fees is just so insane. I'm already making packing lists and I don't leave until September! It just blows my mind, and we're generally very minimialist on the "stuff" that we use for babies anyway. DD honestly had some clothes, some diapers, and a sling for her when she was born, that was all. But packing it all in a suitcase? I don't even know how you pack all those diapers! It'll take up a whole suitcase! We use cloth diapers at home but I don't have enough for a week, and there's no way I'm PAYING to bring back dirty diapers. So I have to figure out the whole disposible thing too, which is really difficult because DD has such sensitive skin that she's actually wetter in a disposible than in cloth, and she breaks out. So I think I'm going to have to create some hybrid system where I use one of the stay dry liners for our cloth in a disposible... Frustration. Fun to be able to obsessively plan, but frustrating.
I love the countdown calendar, I will be making one. It's so beautiful! Did you just cross out the days, or peel them off, or something else? Maybe I could use disney stickers to put on every day.
Your daughter and son are so adorable. I have a fondness for bald babies, even though my oldest has hair now. The baby still doesn't!
That suite you're staying in is HUGE. That's going to be great! That's bigger than my old apartment was! And that pool looks like so much fun!
So excited to read more about your planning and then await your return! Happy to have found your trip report!
Welcome!!! :yay:
I have 1 large suitcase packed up already. It pretty much has all of the kids clothes and toiletries in it. I weighed it the other day and it was nearly 45lbs. :rolleyes1
I'm not going to pack any diapers or formula,( except what I need for the plane ride there.) We're just going to purchase all that stuff once we get in Orlando because I don't want to use up too much valuable space and weight in the suitcases. The only problem I'm running into is where the baby is going to sleep. Right now he sleeps in his baby bouncer, but it doesn't come apart, so I can't pack it. We might need to buy a new one when we get to florida, because he won't sleep anywhere else except his bouncer, on me, or in his swing. :rolleyes:
We just peel off a Mickey head on the calendar every morning. My daughter looks forward to doing it everyday. She's learning to count now, so we make her count each day we have left until she gets to the one we take off.
I'm really looking forward to having so much space in our condo. It will be especially nice when I want to put the baby down to sleep and we won't have to be quite and go to sleep ourselves to do so. Plus we'll save money on being able to prepare our our breakfast each morning.
Thanks for reading along. :)
I received a bunch of pins I ordered on EBAY today. Here’s just a small sampling of what I bought.
I’m really excited for the girls to experience Pin-trading for the first time. When we arrive in Orlando I’ll let them each pick out their own Lanyards.
I also had Jayden try on a Winnie the Pooh outfit today that I had bought him many months ago. It’s what I wanted him to wear on the day we leave. The Onsie and hoodie fit great but the pants are enormous, so I gotta shrink them before we go.
Everything is pretty BIG on him… He had his 2 month appointment on Monday and he’s only 10lbs 1oz right now, which puts him in the 15th percentile. He’s so tiny, I LOVE IT!!!
That is nice that you don't have to bring all the baby stuff. I didn't equate the fact that you'll be staying off site means you can buy everything there. That's a big space saver though! We're stuck on disney property, because I'm too lazy to bring carseats. No, really. That's the reason!
Hmm, I wonder what you could do about the bouncy chair. (Why don't they come apart? I got mine second hand, but I couldn't figure out how to take it apart so I just put it in storage as one piece. But I swear, when I see the boxes for them at the store they're flat and tiny. So maybe I'm missing something!) At least if you have to buy one you can just buy a cheap $20 one at Target. Does he sleep in the car? Would he just stay asleep if you drove him to sleep at night and brought his carseat in? Or in the stroller? (haha, I'm picturing you pacing that big suite with a stroller every night! I would do it to save the $20, but I'm the cheapest person alive. :rotfl:) (Just wondering outloud here, since we cosleep as a very result of the fact that my children will not sleep unless they are actually touching me for their first...oh, year, 18 months. Good thing I like it, because I'm far too lazy to find another solution other than waiting it out! :laughing:) I believe that, in a pinch, we did literally swing the carseat like a swing by it's handle to get DS to sleep before. I don't remember where we were when we did that, but I definitely remember doing it! Have you priced just shipping the bouncy chair to your hotel? Although then I guess you would have to ship it back as well. Hmm. That's a tough one! Well, I tried to brainstorm for you, anyway! :confused3
What beautiful pins! You got somre really nice ones. I need to do some e-bay shopping for more pins myself. I don't want to trade the ones I actually bought in the parks! I'm too attached to them! Did you buy from all different people, or did you just find a good seller?
How cute is he in that outfit? He is so completely adorable! That hoodie must be the tiniest thing ever! Just wash the pants on hot a bunch of times and dry them on high and you should be able to shrink them. Or, you can always boil them on the stove. Can you tell I've done this before? DS was born a month early, and grew SO slowly, he was below the 3rd percentile until he was two. Plus, we always got our money's worth out of our clothes because he wears them year after year! He still has shirts we definately bought him before he was one. Crazy.
Yeah, we'll just have to buy a cheap one at Walmart or Target. It's too bad my baby swing isn't portable, I'm sure going to miss that thing while we're gone. It's been a lifesaver since he's been born, it's what he sleeps in during the day and the bouncer at night. We normal drive everywhere we go for vacation, so this is going to be an interesting experinence for sure. I'm a nervous flier as it is..... taking a 4 year old and a 2 month old along for the ride is going to be nerve racking. The doctor actually prescribed me some valium for the flight because it terrifies me so much. Thank goodness I have 3 other adults to help.
I just bought the pins in bulk from a seller on ebaby. I think it came out to $1.10 a pin.... Can't beat that. I never trade the ones that we buy from the parks either....those are off limits and to be saved.
My DD was always in the low percentile as well.... but all of a sudden she grew at an unbelievable rate.... She skipped the 4t's and went straight to the 5t's....she turns 4 on March 25th.
Great seletion of pins!!! Cutest baby ever!!!!
Thanks......... :flower3:
Hello! :wave2: I am new to your PTR. Your children are beautiful!!
I hope you are planning on doing a TR--I would love to see pictures of your hotel. We toyed with the idea of staying off site in one big place (there would have been 6 of us) but ultimately this trip we decided to stay onsite again.
I share the same wish--that my DD is not afraid of the characters! She was thrilled to meet Santa just not get close to him! :rotfl: She keeps saying how she wants to hug and give kisses to various characters--I hope that is true!! :goodvibes: I have been showing her pictures of characaters here on DIS and YouTube to help prepare her.
Gift bags: Looking forward to seeing what you did. We are similiarly planning on doing some for DD too.
Hmm...pin trading. I have been considering it! You mention Reya enjoyed when she was younger too...I should really think more about it for my DD. She will be turning four on your trip. Could be another fun thing for her to do!
Love all the photos from the previous trips.
Nice ADRs!
Very cute countdown calendar!! I am working on figuring ours out. I am leaning towards beginning around 60 days but I am not sure yet. I should decide that! :confused:
:( I am sorry to hear about DH's job! I hope things work out for you to have a great time on your trip.
Looks like you drove your first time to WDW? We are driving our go around in September! :car:
Hi Deanna! I've finished reading and your plans sound great! Your kids are gorgeous! Reya looks like a very happy little girl! I bet she is so excited for your trip. It's so fun to plan and build up the anticipation with a 3yo!! Jayden is a cutie! I'm having the same problem with clothes with Eva. She's 6 weeks and is finally fitting into newborn clothes, but pants are always HUGE! I want to start buying spring/summer clothes, but since she was so little when she was born (and still is) I don't know what size she'll be.
Anyway, I can't wait to hear about your trip!
Yes, I do plan on writing a TR when I return. I packed up the cutest little winnie the pooh notebook to write all my vaction notes in so I don't leave anything out. I will take plenty of pictures of our condo to share with you as well. I love staying on site, but it just didn't make sense with the amount of people we're traveling with and the cost.
I have NOOOO idea why my DD is so terrified of the characters? I'm hoping once she see's her cousins interacting with them and that they're not scared she'll be okay.... Guess we'll all have to wait and see.
My DD had fun at 2 1/2 with pin trading so I know she'll enjoy it even more now that she's almost 4.... It will also be a first for her cousins. Can't wait.
We usually ALWAYS drive, but the only way my husband would agree to this trip is if we flew..... So that's what we're doing.... Thank god for the valuim....hope it works. :rolleyes1
Jayden is 9 weeks and is still fitting in newborns too.... barely, but he is. And it seems like 3 mo clothes are gigantic. He wasn't nearly as small as Eva when he was born though. Weighed 6lbs 7oz..... at his appointment monday he was up to 10lbs. :woohoo:
Thanks for reading. :)
Wow, you leave soon! I'm in late to the game. Your children are adorable-so precious.
I am thinking of pin trading for DS this year. He has never asked to do it but I think he would enjoy it. He is outgoing but can be shy for a spell so will have to see.
I like your dining ressies. You will CRT for breakfast. It was one of our favorites.
Great plan! Will Reya nap in the stroller? Or does she not nap anymore? (DS was 3 in november and he still naps for like 3 hours a day!) Do you have a double stroller? (I might have seen that in your earlier posts, but I don't remember!)
Are you planning on seeing Playhouse Disney later, or does Reya not care about that?
And YES Toy story mania is a "must do!" It's such a great ride! Do you know if you can take the baby on? DS was 21 months when we went last, and he just sat on our laps. :3dglasses
Thank you, and thanks for joining me.
Pin trading is so much fun.... I've never done it myself but it's fun watching my DD enjoy it.
My DD is the complete opposite of shy, the girl doesn't know the meaning of stranger. Sometimes it's a bit scary, but at the same time I love that she can get along with anyone and everyone.
I'm SUPER excited for CRT, I think I'm going to cry.;)
She stopped napping the day she turned 3.... you are SOOOOOO lucky that your son still naps. I would do anything to have a little peace and quite in the middle of the day while both children nap, but no such luck. If worse comes to worse and she gets really tired I can carry Jayden in the Bjorn and put Reya in the stroller to nap.
Actually Reya doesn't watch any of the playhouse disney shows, so I think we'll skip it when we're there.
I'm hoping I can take Jayden on Toy Story Mania..... we rode it when we went to Disneyland last time and I LOVED it. I also love that Jayden can ride most of the rides with us, it will make life so much easier. And he's so observant lately, he's going to have the best time people watching.
Yay for tickets! It should feel official, you leave SO SOON!
And yes, if she doesn't watch the shows, she won't get the hype. We don't have cable, but we have DVDs of all the shows. Haha. DS loved the playhouse disney show when he was 11 months without watching the shows, but anything is exciting for a baby! Lol.
Yep, they sure do!! Wasn't happy! It was her first pair too, so they had sentimental value, and I left them sitting on the front seat of the car one hot sunny day. :rolleyes1
He’s been so amazing the last 3 nights. Saturday night he slept 7 hours through the night, Sunday 5 hours, and last night another 7 hours. I’m hoping this isn’t a short lived phase he’s going through and that he’s headed in the right direction and will be sleeping 10 hours soon. LOL~~ Here’s to hoping!
I’m so lucky to have him in my life, he’s the best baby in the world!!! LOVE YA JAYDEN… Happy 10 weeks!!
Jayden’s 1st pair of swim trunks….. They’re so tiny and cute!! Can’t wait to take him swimming for the first time.
I also bought Reya a couple pairs of sandals. I took her to get her feet sized and was amazed that she’s supposed to be wearing size 9 or 9 ½’s. The poor girl has been wearing 8’s. ((I had no idea))
Anyway, these were so cute I had to buy them… Hope they’re comfortable for lots of walking at Disney.
Aww, happy 10 week birthday, Jayden! What a sleeper, that's impressive! DS didn't sleep through the night until he was 2 1/2, so I don't expect that from DD for a LOONG time. 3 or 4 hours at a time is enough to keep me rested and happy! (You know, since I haven't slept more than 3 or 4 hours at a time in 3 1/2 years now, you get used to these things!)
I love those pigtails! I bet she's excited! Not much left on that calendar!
I cannot imagine how tiny those swim trunks are! I love that shirt with Minnie blowing bubbles!
WOW! Yes, I feel very lucky that I have a great sleeper. As a matter of fact he's snug as a bug sleeping in his baby swing right now. I have NO idea what I would do without that thing. He's been super grumpy today, so I'm enjoying the quite moment right now. My DD started sleeping through the night when she was 3 months old, so I'm hopeful.
Reya is REALLY excited. We talk about going to Disney everyday.... plus it's nice because I get to use it as leverage everyday.... "If you don't go to sleep, we're NOT going to Disney World" ... ""If you don't eat your food, we're NOT going to Disney World" .... ""If you don't pick up your toys, we're NOT going to Disney World" ..... LOL!! Going to miss not being able to hold it over her head much longer. ((does that make me a bad parent? :confused3))
The swim trunks are REALLY tiny.... They actually might be too big for him, I haven't tried them on. He's actually still wearing newborn clothes he's so small.
Love your plans!! The balloon on the stroller is a cute idea. Have you seen the stroller license plates on the DISign board yet?
:yay: :yay: SINGLE DIGITS!!!! :yay: :yay:
Thanks. :) The balloon was well worth the money because it really helped in finding our stroller in the throngs of parked strollers.... LOVED IT!!
No, I haven't seen the stroller license plates, I'll have to check them out.
Just ran into a small snag in our plans. On March 7th we were going to take a break from the parks and go to the Beach. Our plan was to go to Daytona Beach, but I just got on their website and discovered that they're having "BIKE WEEK" that weekend, and there is NOOOOO way we're taking small kids to that. So, I was wondering what would be the next best option for "beach day"? Any suggestions?:confused3
March 7th
Going to the Beach.
Have NO idea which one as of now. My vote was to go Honeymoon Island, but everyone else wants to go somewhere where there’s a little more action? Going to research some of the local beaches tomorrow to see if I can come up with something everyone can agree on.
For the evening we will hang out at DTD.
** Need to buy our annual Christmas ornament
** Reya saved up a bunch of Change throughout the year, so we’ll cash it in this weekend and that will be her shopping money for our DTD shopping day.
** Buy some fun bath items for my Jacuzzi tub in the condo and basin. ((Love those fizzy bath balls))
** Might go see Alice in Wonderland at the theatre if we’re up for it
** Shop, Shop, Shop
7:00 PM: Dinner ADR at Planet Hollywood
Back to the hotel for swimming and relaxation.
Just had a few minutes to read through your whole report, and WOW are your kids cute!! :lovestruc You'll have to let me know how it goes with such a young baby. I can't imagine! My kids never sleep through the night until at least 9 months so I would just be so tired for the parks during the days if we went with a baby that young. That's great your baby is already headed there! Mine still got up at least twice at that age.
As for parking, we were just there in January and it was $14 per day. Isn't that insane?!? We thought so! Be sure to save your ticket if you leave the lot because it's good for the whole day.
Also, for T-Rex we had no problem getting in at lunch time. I tried to make a dinner ADR months before our trip and there was never any availability for any of the days I checked. We got there around 11:30 to try for lunch one day and the place was practically empty. Just one word of warning - it's incredibly lound in there. My kids loved it though.
I've also heard good things about Cocoa Beach. We want to spend a day there on a future trip.
I love your countdown! I feel like a bad mommy now - I just printed out pictures of Mickey in black and white on a regular piece of computer paper and had my kids color one in every day. Next time I'm making one like yours!
Can you tell me how pin trading works when you have a chance? We didn't do it this time but those pins sure are pretty!
Your trip is so close! I'm so excited for you!!!!!!!
Well there is NO way we would be able to go on this trip with a 10 week old if it weren't for the help of my SIL and her husband. But since there will be 4 sets of adult hands to help out, I don't see it being too much of a problem. We took DD to DLR when she was 6 months old and it was easy peasy.. ((So we'll see)) ~~ Jayden slept from 9 PM to 3 Am last night, so I'm thinking that he's officially "starting" to sleep through the night. I'm getting a LOT more sleep now then I did when I was pregnant though, so I'm really thankful for that. I'll be sure to take notes on how great or NOT so great things go.
Thanks for the advice on TREX and parking. :thumbsup2
Putting the calendar together was fun.... I've seen some that are REALLY creative, but I think ours was still pretty cool. :cool2:
Pin trading is really fun... There's a great website you can check out that will give you all the information you need. http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/page?id=getStarted
We just do it for fun though, we don't get too serious about it. I think it's a fun way for DD to meet new people and to find new pins that she REALLY likes. I just go on Ebay and find sellers to sell them in bulk.... If you buy the pins in the park they usually start at around $5.00 each, but on ebay I buy them for about a $1.00 each.
She mostly trades with the cast members, who are required to trade a Pin NO matter what..... If you ask random traders, they of course can opt out of trading a certain pin if they want.
I think it's a fun activity for the kids to do.... I highly recommend it .
Actually, it will be her 3rd. :laughing: We live overseas and have had to fly to Florida to see an pediatric orthopedic doctor because DD has very mild hip displasia. They have orthopedic doctors on island, but none specializing in kids. She's perfectly fine, but we have had to go quite a few times. One of those trips, while she was 2 months old, we went ahead and took the short drive down to spend the day at Disney. Then we went in October just a month after she turned 1.
Hello, and WELCOME! :goodvibes
Thanks for the sweet compliments. Planning this Trip with a preschooler and a newborn hasn't been easy. I'm usually REALLY detailed about my Disney planning but have come to the conclusion that this year is going to be different. Pretty much everything is going to revolve around the baby and what he can and can't handle. I'm going to have to learn to roll with the punches I guess. Right now Reya is sleeping and Jayden is just chillin' next to me on the couch watching the Today show... It's moments like these that I get to work on plans.. I also have to sneak in feedings, diapers, dishes, laundry, and house cleaning in there too... :laundy:
I'll be sure to report on my experience at CP .... I'm hoping Reya doesn't freak out and hide under the table the entire time, like she did the first time we ate at a character breakfast.
I also have ½ of the packing already done. I’m so ready to leave!!! ((Just dreading the flying part))
No, I don't do the scrap booking thing. I've been trying to do the digital scrap booking though?!? I'm hoping to put one together really soon. I've taken a million pictures since Jayden has been born.
Thanks....Reya picked out her own swimsuit. And I'm excited to see her in her princess dress and Tiara for the CRT breakfast.
LOL..... Looking at Jayden even makes me want to have another one. He's been the best baby and time is flying so fast. Before I know it he won't be so tiny anymore.
I still need to buy stuff for Reya's gift bag too..... Need to hit the dollar store soon.
So are you planning on having any more babies.... We're thinking of "ONE" more. It was going to be determined on how well Jayden was, and so far so good. I want to be completely done before I'm 35 so I don't have long to think about it.
Well, we've talked about having another one. I want one but DH keeps saying "not right now, not right now." So who knows. I would like to be done by 30 and that's only a few years away! I'm not going to be disappointed if we decide not to, though, so we'll see. Our cat thinks she's a person, so it's like having 2 kids anyway. :laughing:
So I know it’s off topic, but I really wanted to share some of my Favorite photos of Jayden that have been taken in the last 10 weeks.
For those of you who don’t know, this trip has been in the making for a LONG, LONG time. Awhile back my DH and I agreed that we weren’t going to take another trip to WDW until we had our next baby. ( The reason for this was because I didn’t want to be pregnant and miserable while vacationing. ) We thought we would end up conceiving right away, due to the fact that we had NO problems with DD. Well,...... that wasn’t the case with Jayden , it took us almost a year, and a couple of early miscarriages before we got the news that I was pregnant. ((I got a positive test on my DD’s 3rd birthday))
So this trip has been about 2 years in the making, and I can hardly believe that we leave next week.
We were the opposite, it took a long time to get pregnant with DS but we got pregnant right away with DD. We were shocked, because we thought we were heading down that emotional rollercoaster for a year or more again. It's a hard road and I feel so much for anyone who has to go through it. I'm so happy you're finally able to take your little boy to Disney, it must mean so much to you to finally be at this point! I'm getting misty just thinking about it, so I'm sure you're going to cry! the baby is so so very cute! okay, they both are but i just have a soft spot for baby boys right now:)
Great plan! Will Reya nap in the stroller? Or does she not nap anymore? (DS was 3 in november and he still naps for like 3 hours a day!) Do you have a double stroller? (I might have seen that in your earlier posts, but I don't remember!)
Are you planning on seeing Playhouse Disney later, or does Reya not care about that?
And YES Toy story mania is a "must do!" It's such a great ride! Do you know if you can take the baby on? DS was 21 months when we went last, and he just sat on our laps. :3dglasses
I was able to take the baby on Toy Story Mania last year; in fact, when i asked for a baby swap they looked at me like i was crazy.
i woudl have preferred not to though. it did whip around a bit. it also hindered my score (that's my story, at least :goodvibes). plus, i love the baby swap- if i had used it then i could have taken my dd with me when i went back to ride and gotten her an extra ride)
honeestly, the baby was the easiest on our trip. granted he was almost 9 months. I was really worried about not having all the gear for the hotel room. but after long park days, being mostly stuck in the stroller or the wrap carrier, or someone's arms- then by the time we got home he just wanted to be spread out on a blanket and left alone.
basically, as i was packing, i just randomly threw in a bunch of little toys, especially the kind you could use links to attach to the stroller and then just changed them out throughout the day.
someone on here gave me the idea to take a few recieving blankets and some binder clips. you can clip the blanket to the stroller and it helps block some of the visual stimulation when you need baby to nap.
very rarely did i see any covers for the diaper changing stations in the parks. so you may want to bring your own or pack disposible or something. quite a few times i caught myself trying to line it with paper towels.
good thinking about getting the diapers and formula once you get there. i shipped down a box of the very same stuff i think it would have cost almost $50 if i didn't have a discount.
i'm not sure if you ever saw this in my TR- but for mixing bottles in the park, we went to the counter service places and asked for a glass of hot water and a glass of cold water. the hot water is so very hot that you can barely touch it to pour it in the bottle. so we'd use an ounce or so to mix the formula, and then mix in the cold water to get it to the amount and temp we wanted. then we'd use the rest of the hot to wash it out after he was done.
and bring an extra bottle to the parks every day. yes, you can buy them there, but if you have a preference to type, they only had the inexpensive gerber bottles. and they were always at the opposite side of the park from where we were when we needed it.
Absolutely beautiful pictures from your wedding!! Loved your wedding cake and let's face it, the bigger the cake the more we would have to eat;)
I secretly hope when Jasmine gets married she'll want to get married at WDW, but right now she's talking about a beach wedding when the time comes.....maybe I'm the one that wants the WDW wedding:cloud9:
Those pictures are just precious!! What a great big sister Reya is to Jayden! We had problems conceiving DD--she is our miracle! We will most likely not have a second child. Never say never but it very unlikely.
what a cute cake and TFS your beautiful wedding photos.
The Cantina in Mexico is scheduled to open again in Fall. I have not seen a specific date--I am hoping it is open when we go in September. If you are looking for more suggestions--I like Rose and Crown quite a lot and the have a CS component too. http://allears.net/menu/menu_hr.htm but you have to like fish and chips. :) We are tentatively looking at Sunshine Seasons http://allears.net/menu/men_ssff.htm
Are you packed besides last minute items? What else do you have to do or get?
I love seeing all your pictures. I miss DLR. I am loving WDW, but DLR is my home, know what I mean? I was born and raised a Cali girl and went to DLR sooooo many times. It holds something extra special for me. Anyway, how excited are you that you have less than a week?!?!
SUPER EXCITED!!!
And I love DLR too. I'm more of a WDW fan, but think DLR is pretty special !:goodvibes
Lucky you getting married at the Poly! The pictures are so beautiful! It's really sweet that you had such an intimate wedding, I bet you have some amazing memories. I LOVE the picture of everyone watching you kiss. It's so cute!
And great pictures of DL. We've had great trips there and it definately has it's perks. (Two parks steps from each other? You can't beat that!)
Your neices are beautiful! What a sweet picture!
Thank you. Yes, I have some pretty wonderful memories from that day. It was nice to celebrate with the petty closest to me, and to actually spend time with my new husband. Some of these big weddings I feel sorry for the bride and groom because all they're doing is making rounds and trying to entertain everyone. ((sometimes I wish I would have have a large wedding though))
Yes, I love the fact that you can walk from one park to the other at DLR.... Plus most hotels are within walking distance too. LOVED THAT!
I remember those days.... and yeah, I even had a dream last night that I was pregnant. :scared1: I really need to stop looking at all of your pics of your beautiful children. :goodvibes
Yay for 6 days away!! :banana::banana::banana:
:rotfl:
I finally read through your ptr! Took me long enough to get here lol. Your sweeties are precious! I just love those little portable swings I have seen out there. Would that be something that might work? I wish they had them when my kids were infants.
Im so sorry to hear about your dh's job. But no worries when you are in Disney! Just lots of Mickey dreams:thumbsup2
Your wedding pictures are beautiful! You are a beautiful bride!
I am so with you on the flying thing. I am not a good flyer. I have to have something to keep me calm. I tried to get ds to let us drive to Disneyworld but he wants to fly and its his trip lol so I guess I'm along for the ride;)
I can't believe your trip is so close!! I cannot wait to read your TR!!!
Thanks for all the nice compliments! And I'm glad you have you here.
I'm glad there's other people out there that share my fear of flying. Not only am I terrified, but I have a small baby to worry about too. I'm anxious not know whether he's going to throw a fit or not. Cross your fingers that he's a good boy.
6 days!:dance3::yay:
How cool, that you got married at the Poly! It's so pretty there.
:yay:
Thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures from your wedding!!
And I also can't wait to read your TR!!
You're getting so close! :cool1:
Thank you!
Probably. Have they given a date as to when the refurbishing will be done? Will you be sad? Mexico is one of my favorite things at Epcot. I :love:e the marketplace and the boat ride.
Just the cantina is going to be closed.... I love that place. :(
the baby is so so very cute! okay, they both are but i just have a soft spot for baby boys right now:)
I'm so bummed about the Cantina......I do like the place with the fish and chips though. Mmmmmmmm.
I'm about 3/4 of the way through with my packing.
I bought all of Reyas gifts for her gift bag today, I'll post pictures of what I got tomorrow.
I still need to buy myself some PJ's, snacks for the plane ride, makeup, and few little odds and ends of things. Nothing major.
I should be completely packed by sunday, except for the items I need for the morning of. :woohoo:
I went to the Disney Store and Dollar Tree to buy Reya items for her ARRIVAL GIFT BAG ((From Tinkerbell)) The only thing I have yet to buy is Glow wands and crayons from the Dollar Tree.
So in her bag she’ll have the following:
1. Princess Puzzle
2. Little Mermaid Tumbler with straw
3. Belle Ribbon Baton
4. Cinderella Slapstick bracelet
5. Little Mermaid Jump Rope
6. Disney Bunnies coloring book
7. Daisy Duck Pez dispenser and candy
8. Princess Gummies
9. Princess Splash ball
10. Glow Bracelets
11. Princess Twinkler
12. Tinkerbell shirt
13. Flower Rings
14. Pearl necklace to wear with her Princess Dress
15. **Reya is constantly wanting to wear one of my necklaces, so I bought her one that has a ballet slipper, with a pink stone that says “dance”. ( She just started dance lessons 6 months ago, so I thought she would love it.)
16. glow wands
17. 15 pins
Here’s a few pictures of some of the items. ((Sorry not the best quality))
I think we need that twinkler (dollar tree?) and tumbler (Disney store?)
have you heard of the fisher price rock n play newborn sleeper? I think it's relatively new. I saw it in a magazine and have no idea of the price. It sounds like a bouncer that is marketed as a place to sleep as well. supposedly it folds up- although I gave no idea if it would fit in a suitcase.
Thank you... I think so too. I also went and cashed in all the change we've been saving through the year. I'm going to exchange it for Disney Dollars when we get to WDW and also put that in her gift bag.
Yes ... They had all the fairies too. And the tumbler I believe was on sale for $4.00 at the Disney store. They have a lot of different ones to choose from.
Funny you mentioned the rock in play. I was at babies r us yesterday and saw it... Unfortunately it's too big for the suitcase when it's folded up. It's pretty cool though.
Thank you. I got the slap bracelet at the dollar tree... Can't beat a $1 ... plus they had few other princesses to choose from.
I prefer WDW but I also LOVE DL. The thing I like the most about DLR is that everything is within walking distance. The hotels are right next to Downtown Disney and the two Disney parks are right next to each other. So park hopping is a cinch. I prefer WDW for LONGER vacations and DLR if you only want to get away for a few days.
