During our recent trip to the Fort, we saw many campers using the rope lights to outline their pad or space next to the camper.

My husband loved them as it was the first time he had seen rope lights. (He leads a sheltered life).

Anyway, he picked up some at Wal Mart and quickly discovered one set was not enough (18 feet). How do you get them to lay flat and straight? How do you store them on your trip down if you don't wind them into cirlces? I was thinking some type of " U " anchor to stick in the ground.

I use a rope light thats is 150' long. you can find them on the Internet in any length or color you like. For outlining the site I use a tent spike at the ends and the corners and tape or tie-wrap the lights to the spikes, pull them tight and you have a straight line. After they are out in the sun for a while they will lay flat. You can also get the lights in 110 volt A/c or 12 volt D/c if you want them in low voltage.

A garden hose reel makes a good place to store and transport the lights.

We use them, and they lay flat just fine, even after being coiled in storage for months. We have 3 sets connected together, we don't use any spikes or anything. We step on them, roll bike tires over them.. they are fairly durable.

Thank you both!

I did step on one section and noticed that section tended to lay flat.

Christmas Tree lights also look nice and are very easy to hang on the awning. :cool1::banana:

That's cool looking.

Do you think you can post it in the thread so I can actually *see* it? I'm having a hard time determining if those are rope lights or icicle lights.

My DH had never seen the rope lights before. I'm thinking, "where have you been?" He liked the way campers outlined their concrete pads with them:confused3

The lights are LED Icicle Lights from Tarjay (Target), took two sets to outline the awning. I also like the rope lights outlining the campsite, didn't do it this time though.

Next trip if not at Christmas will be the retro trailer lights I got at Meadows Trading with my Disney Birthday card, thanks WDW! Got two sets of those so it will outline the entire awning.
