a question on OKW bed linen laundering

Hi all, I need some expert input about the laundering of the bedspreads at OKW and all of the DVC resorts for that matter. Last time(Apr-02) we stayed at OKW, we stayed in a non-smoking 2-bdrm villa. There was a distinct smoke odor to the master bedroom. I since have asked member services, through e-mail, how often the bedspreads are washed. The response was: after every check-out. Can anyone on this board tell me if this is what you have heard to be the case? I just never see the maids' baskets with bedspreads in them when they come around to clean the villas.

It's my personal opinion that housekeeping does not change the bedspreads on each guest change. This was indirectly confirmed for me when we got stuck with a smoking room - housekeeping happily brought over a clean and smoke-free bedspread - when I made the request I said something like "I realize that bedspreads are not always changed between guests, so I'd like a new one to help with the smoke odor" and I got no disagreement. Not exactly confirmation, but the bedspread clearly smelled of smoke and the new bedspread did not (which made quite a difference in our sleeping comfort).

Like you, I cannot recall seeing bedspreads in the linen baskets.

I would say that if you end up with a smoky bedspread again, just ask housekeeping to bring you over a fresh one.

There might have been some confusion with your e-mail. Just like with this one, the topic says "bed linens" and the text says "bedspread". I doubt they launder the spreads between guests, they'd never last being washed every 1-2 days. The suggestion to ask for a new bedspread if a room smells smokey is a good one. I'll keep that in mind myself. ;)

I have often wondered about the bedspreads too. The last trip, one of them looked soiled. I guess I should have asked for a replacement.

When we were at HH in April ,on the third day the maid changed all the bedspreads in the unit. We had not requested this. Evidently this is done periodically , but who knows how periodically ?
