We just got home, we had a fantastic time and put the Expedia saga behind us

Highs:
- our Sequoia lodge room, we had a corner room on the 6th floor that was nice and large (it was through the door at the end of the corridor). It was really nice and we had a big bottle of water, flowers, chocolate coins and a letter from the manager. VIP brekkie as well.
- We also had a Snow White themed set with a comb, toothbrush, shower cap etc in it. Each item was in a separate box with a pic if a different dwarf on it! I have seen pictures of this set previously in a DLH suite. Not sure how these sets are given out but suffice to say we have kept it unopened! I shall upload pics of the room and set later! I should point out our trip was a complimentary stay due to an incident in the park a few years ago, so our room was free!!
- Snow yesterday was also a highlight, made the park look even more beautiful and generally added to the atmosphere.
- Jedi Mickey Plush! We looked everywhere for one of these guys and we finally found one! We both love Star Wars, so this was a very awesome (and cute) find.
- The Chicago Steakhouse was again fantastic, as was Cowboy Cookout!

Neither high nor low:
- MMP, first we saw of it and we weren't fussed either way.
- The Cheyenne, we stayed here for a few nights after our free stay in the SL. We stayed here more because we loved it last time rather than money, but we both wished we had stayed at the SL, we had a good room just outside the reception but we just prefer the SL and don't think we will stay at the Cheyenne again.
- The crowds, not too bad, not too great!

The lows(there were too many!!)
-RER STRIKE! meaning a 70€ taxi ride from MLV station into Paris on the last minute. Then the Eurostar was late so we missed our connection, then snow caused chaos and a packed late, slow train to Leeds from LKX.
- Illness, I was ill pretty much the whole trip, I had a really high fever every night and we stayed in bed till 12:30 every day as we felt too bad to get up. Adrenalin seemed to help the rest of the day though. I had a chest infection by the way, which was a lovely present from Katy! At least we didn't miss out on anything in the parks, as Katy gets a Special Access Pass we didn't have to queue for anything except Fuente Del Oro - not even Winnie The Pooh!
- the weather, it was so very cold; colder than ever before and so cold we looked longingly at the DLH every time we walked past. Therefore we have decided that next year we are staying at the DLH for our chrimbo trip as we went in and fell in love. With it being so cold Katy had to use her stick every day, and was in a lot of pain, plus it was really hard for her to walk without slipping on the snowy days.
- Those meal vouchers! We saved our last two evening ones to use at face value at the Chicago Steakhouse, and while we were waiting for a table we realised we'd lost them! They probably fell out of our bag at some point that day, the last time we saw them was at lunch in the Studios a good 7 hours earlier, so we had to have McDonalds yet again! oh well, the Expedia saga means we still have 8 one day hoppers, which are usable until June (thank you again Guest Relations!)

Glad you mostly had a good time! You deserved it after the stress before the trip.

Haha thanks! Yup, despite the problems we had a really nice time, today has been very stressful though! We are getting the direct train next time!

Very cold, freezing in fact. I wore a t-shirt, wool jumper, a medium fleece jumper and a thick fleece jumper and then a snowboarding jacket over the top and I was still a bit chilly! Layered socks were essential too, one thin and then one fleece over them. I took my gloves off to take photos and within seconds my fingers were getting numb! Layers are always the key, so if you have 3-4 layers under a coat you should be fine.

However accuweather says from Christmas day onwards the weather will get warmer. I think it was around minus 2 each day when we were there!

Thanks! Yeah, I think the winter months make the DLH look very tempting indeed! We have 8 spare one day hoppers so we need to visit before June so we are currently pricing up the SL, and wait till Xmas for the DLH.

Glad you had some highs and your SL room sounds lovely, we went back to Cheyenne earlier this year thinking it would be nice to return to the first hotel we stayed at, but I was disappointed with it, think we'd been spoilt with our stays at SL and NPB and expect a bit more from the hotel now. :confused3

I am expecting our January trip to be very very cold and have bought disposable hand and foot warmers to try and keep us nice and toasty. :goodvibes

I hope I haven't worried anyone about the cold! :rotfl: I have to say I saw one young bloke wearing just jeans and a t-shirt on thursday  I was amazed as I walked past, honestly amazed.

Despite what I said about the hotel Cheyenne, the staff were great :goodvibes Who knows, maybe we will stay for a night there then go on for 3-4 nights at the DLH next year. I am going to write a trip report soon, as I am still ill so need something to entertain me!

I'm hoping it will have warmed up when we go in 2 weeks! This will be our first time at the Cheyenne so I hope we like it! TBH this was only a filler trip because we got such a good deal through Expedia (ironically!) so we aren't expecting - or deserving - luxury.

I'm sure you will :) , the rooms are basic but the lobby is nice and it is a great hotel to look at. I have to say it was a lot warmer than our SL room, that was so large it took ages to warm up whereas the Cheyenne room was boiling hot all the time! We are now thinking of going for our anniversary in Feb, might give the NPB another try as I kind of want to save the DLH until Christmas.

I think you will, it's a fabulous layout you can't help but be blown away by the design of the place, honestly you feel like you're walking through a film set.
But it's not fair to make comparisons with the other more expensive hotels, which is what I ended up doing, the Cheyenne is a fantastic budget hotel and as mentioned the staff there are very friendly and relaxed. :goodvibes
