According to Disney, today is the day by which the last batch of (pending) applicants -- including our own Z2H-- :cheer2: should learn whether or not they got into the College Program for Jan-May 2010!

She's obsessively checking mail :hyper: - and driving me :banana: !!!!

Let's all hope for good news and a big purple folder arriving later today!

Or else, I'll have to lay in a goodly supply of chocolate. :sad: :sad: :sad:

But, in any case, we have our "NYC Girls Day" trip tomorrow!

Mail just arrived...

NOTHING from Disney!

No skinny little thin envelope, no fat envelope with the purple folder - but lots of nice Christmas cards. Bah, humbug...today!

Danica thinks they also email the notice - so NOW I'm watching that obsessively, since she forwarded her emails to me for today while she's at work!

Will keep y'all posted!

I'm jumping up to check email and have been driving the dog crazy all day. He keeps thinking we're going out for a walk.

So, to use up this energy - I'll take him out (and freeze!) but will get away from this for a bit.

Other kids on the DIS College Board are anxiously waiting today, too. Danica had to explain to a bunch of them yesterday what a pin code was - doesn't Disney know what a treasure they'd have in her? :tinker:

I know when I have gotten anything sent from Disney (tickets, ect.) it always comes by FedX- I think that is who they generally use.

Nuttin' yet - sigh. Froze my assets off while walking the dog this afternoon, but had to go do SOMETHING physical.

I'm getting carpal finger syndrome from clicking on the mouse button every few seconds to check email! No FedEx or UPS guys here, either.

She doesn't get home from work for hours, so I'll be at my post for a while yet...I'm now eating chocolate chips from the bag by the handful. That can't be good!

Yeah, AYM, remember (last month?) when she was dishing out that "I'm not sure if I'll go if I get in...." crap???? She was pretty choosy when applying, since she didn't want to go all the way to WDW and work in housekeeping or in the kitchen doing QSFB (Quick Service Food and Beverage). We all know she'd be awesome dealing with the public in the parks and/or merchandising. :wave2: Which, of course, are the most competitive spots, not counting the specialty character roles, which get applied for in a slightly different way through auditions, etc.

I can't believe this has come down to the last day! She's known for awhile that Disney said the kids would hear by December 18th...but I guess we all thought that it would be *before* December 18th!

Also, AYM - the pin code Danica/Lou just got (I think) is for 30/35/40% off at value/mod/deluxe resorts for many 2010 dates through June. Not sure if Nan's was the same...?

Danica just tried to call the office - she had a direct line phone number for them - but they closed at 5 p.m. and she called at 5:15!

Ummmmm...she ain't happy! I told her that maybe there were still folks in the office to send out emails, but maybe just the phones are off...?

Thank you everyone! It's good to know that everyone is as freaked out as I am - Lou kept getting texts today, and they were just Facebook updates and Amazon telling me I sold books. Oh, and a Disney Movie Club email. That one made us both jump for a second.

And then I'm at work, and I told him to text me if anything came in - I never, ever, ever have my phone on me at work, but I did today. And so it starts vibrating.... I freak out - but no. It's Lou telling me some guy we know is in his class. :headache: Who cares?!?!

And then I asked if I could take my 15 minute break before 5. All I wanted to do was call. I didn't even plan on taking 15. But the boss said "we'll see" and let me go at 5:15. And the office is only open M-F.

Grumble grumble grumble.

It says right in the email:

Recently, you received notification that your application for the Disney College Program at the
Walt Disney World® Resort was pending a final decision, and that you would be notified of your status by December 1, 2009.

Due to the overwhelming volume of applications we have received for our spring 2010 programs, we are still reviewing your application at this time. We expect to make final decisions on all applications by December 18, 2009 and will notify all candidates of their status by that date.

Not "we'll send it out by" or "maybe" or anything like that. I just want to know, good or bad. :sad:

...I'm not bitter at all. :lmao:

Nancy - How did PJ do?

They got to school and were told they could pick them up at lunch... Their are 3 lunch periods... they hadn't them out at the first two... third one rolls around the counselors don't hand them out... PJ is in the 3rd lunch. So, I'm fuming when I find this out... be consistent.. PJ, did you go check the office.. Yes, mom they told me I'd have to wait because they were "tired" of handing them out! OH, NO that is NOT going to work. So, it just so happens that the counselor is also PJ's XC coach..so I sent him an email asking for PJ to get her info so that we can look at it over break and since he has requested they attend practices on MWF of break (yes, he wants them to run Christmas morning)...he can give it to her then... oh, and I also told him PJ would NOT be running Christmas Morning or for that matter NYD!

What really bugs me, is they send all kinds of other info home in emails, why not this info.... I know it's not live or death but I'd like to see how she is doing...

OK, now back to regular programming, but thank you so much for asking about PJ.... now, has the mail come this morning????

Well, I have good news and bad news. Good news is that I am still going to Disney... bad news is that I am not going to be working there. I got the tiny letter today, said my dad. But I am not that upset, since I did want to use my pincode and this way I don't have to cancel all my classes next semester and put my life on hold.

I am sorry that all of you were so eagerly anticipating good news... I feel like I let all my Dis-aunts down.:grouphug:

You did NOT let you DIS-aunts down.... We are proud of you and everything you accomplish!! The bad news is really for them, they lose and great employee & person!! Good news is you can now use the PIN code!!! :)

I know that you are being strong but I understand if you are still disappointed. I once got as far as an interview at DL and then didnt get the job and didnt get hired at the Dis store either. Im not peppy enough.

And yes, I can apply again in January - and will. Even though my family doesn't want me gone for the fall - I want to apply and get in!!!! I can apply up to my last semester of senior year.. so I've got a while left.

As for the trip, I guess we're going to try to plan that tomorrow - we're going late May to early June, and that's all we know so far. We have to leave by the 3rd (price change in seasons), but I don't know the exact days yet.

Thanks, everyone, for your incredible support, love, and encouragement! She really felt it yesterday...

She got "the word" via phone from DH literally as our bus was pulling into our stop in NYC - so she was disappointed, but we soon were busy shopping, eating, and having fun in the lovely winter wonderland of a lightly snowing (then!) pre-Christmas midtown NYC. We were with one of her best friends and her mom, so that also helped a lot.

We all know she'd be one of the most enthusiastic, knowledgable, mature, and responsible college program members Disney has EVER had, so it is a little confusing why they'd not include her - when they seem to have an issue with choosing some kids who suddenly decide just not to show up for work, leave abruptly, and generally get into trouble in WDW. Oh, well. She has another attempt to sharpen up whatever is holding her back in the application process (?) so she can wow them next time and will have fun during her/our vacation trips there in the meantime.

She was posting to and reading your kind messages on the DIS last night while on the bus home, using my tiny iPod touch, and it really helped her focus on the positive - she's such a great kid! :hug:

Very well said! I totally agree. I'm glad you'll be trying again. It's a shame you can't use letters of reference from all us DISers - we are their target audience - we should have some input in who they hire!

DH and I both really enbjoyed the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Have a great time. I will be up in Orlando for the 28 and 29 I expect as that is the dates of the Orlando Scrapbook Expo in Orlando at the Gaylord Palms(right beside Disney). I will have to see if we can meet up.

It won't be a big deal- I would just have to figure out things once the classes come out. I will at least be going for a day and could meet up with you in the evening. Literally the Gaylord Palms exit is in the middle of the Disney exits- once there it is easy to get to Disney- last year I went on Friday and would have stopped at Disney on my way back (it costs me nothing as my AP takes care of getting in and parking) except that I had to get back to help with a church dinner.

I'm Japanese and worked at Tokyo Disney Land before for a one year as part-time job.
That's was amazing and wonderful.

I came to USA for also Disney Program.
Now I'm very sad, but don't give up, so I'll smile*:)

That's a great time to go! Our anniversary is May 25, so we went for our honeymoon and 1 year anniversary right around that exact time. You get there before the brutal hotter-than-the-surface-of-the-sun heat and before the really heavy crowds of summer.

Lisa, I won't be able to be there for SDV this year. The boys start school before then. We are looking at the middle two weeks of August. Icky weather and icky crowds. We will be taking it slow this time around.

I worked in the Emporium on Main Street. It was cool and I spent everyday in a park, even if it was for a few hours and I went to Seaworld once a week (I had a season pass). You work lots of hours and it was hard work but it was worth it. My major is retail so I am applying for a few merchandise internships. I was going to apply tonight but its been a bad day so I am going to wait till tomorrow. One of my favorite managers at work got fired today and I was turned down for a scholarship opportunity.
