Anyone else onboard for the July 24, 2011 Disney Dream cruise with 2 stops at Castaway Cay?
I'm Danielle and will be sailing with my DH Derek, and my then DS14 Keegan and then DS10 Brennan. It will be our 14th DCL cruise and 1st on the Dream (unless we can squeeze another one in if any great deals come out!)

We are on this cruise also! It's the 2nd half our our back-2-back cruise. We will be on the 7/19 cruise also. I am Kelli, sailing with DH (Bill), and DS (Noah) who will be 13 on this cruise. This will be our 8th cruise with DCL, 2nd on the Dream. There's a slight chance we may switch this to a 2012 cruise, we were disappointed there was no 7 night summer cruises in the Caribbean. We are not interested in going to Europe or the Med. at this point. Still want warm tropical locations.

We will be on this sailling too! It will be me, my DW and daughter, age 10 at the time. It will be our 4th cruise with DCL. We may even be bringing another couple with us for their first DCL trip.
Hi! Can you please add me your to list of cruisers too for July 24, 2011
We have our deposit with DCL and will be switching over and "pay" with our points. We are hoping to do two nights pre cruise at SSR THV, will have to call in August of this year to see if we can get :worship:
It will be my mom (who purchased the DVC points for my family), my sister and her husband and her three little boys and my dh, ds-13 and dd-17.
We cruise often but haven't been on DCL since 2000 (we LOVE RCCL). But, we have the points and decided to use them next year instead of doing Disney.
I'm a little worried about my 17 year old dd. Although she is very mature, it seems she won't be old enough to sit by the adult pool or go to the spa with me. She always meets friends on RCCL and loves the clubs so hope they have something to keep 17 year olds entertained.
I'm not worried about my then 13 year old son. He should be fine in the clubs.
I'm really looking forward to two stops at CC.
I read on a thread that CC was going to be making their own cabannas for rent. Has this happened? I would love to rent one.
Thank you all very much and look forward to planning our cruise together!

:yay: My Dsis just took care of reservations for our family. We will be 4 staterooms in all...Grandparents, Dsis family includes 3 teenage boys, my family includes DD who will be 4, and Dbrother's family includes his DD who will be almost 3. :yay:
Thank you Dsis for all your time spent making the arrangements for the rooms!
We will have the earlier dining time.
We just returned from my family's first cruise on the 2/28 Wonder and had a wonderful time. We never made it to Serenity Bay, so I am really excited that we will be at CC twice! We had a shortened day at CC due to weather this time but still managed to have some family time with DD at the beach. :beach::beach:
Dsis has started her trip report from the Wonder

I'm sooooo glad we have this cruise planned, it was a major let down to return from our cruise after looking forward to it for so many months!

We'll be on this cruise too! It's mine and DH's first cruise so we're REALLY exicted. Our friends are going with us as well-DF and her daughters 17 and 8 at the time of cruise.
I've also managed to convince like 15 other people to come on the cruise too!! Should be a BLAST!!! I can't wait!

OK..Here is what we have figured out so far-
Dmom 83, Dsis 57, DD 12 and myself 49 will fly down on the 23rd via Jetblue from JFK. We'll stay at the MCO Hyatt. As far as transportaion to the port, I'll have DCL handle our luggage and then well take car service to the port. There is a fee that DCL charges, but it is completely worth it.
I would prefer to tag my luggage in New York and then have it delivered to our staterooms, but since we are flying in the night before, I don't think that it's possible.
In Nassau, I would like take the Atlantis Beach Day. On Castaway Cay, we would like to use one of the cabanas. DD is looking forward to the Wild Side teen excursion (she turns 14 on the 25th) and I would love to go parasailing, again.
Anybody else have any plans in mind?

Count me in on this!!!
My DH and I just booked this cruise for our 5th Wedding Anniversary and we are super excited. This will be our second cruise with DCL and our first without our DD who is 2!! We are thinking of adding a few nights at our home resort Baylake either before or after the cruise. Looking forward to dining at Remy as well. I really want to take advantage of the Adults Only sections of the boat!!!! So excited and would love to chat with others who will be going on this trip. I am fairly new to DIS Boards and haven't really go
gotten the hang of this whole thing yet, so any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hello everyone!
We will be on this cruise with you and are so excited about sailing on the Dream! This will be our fourth cruise and our second with some family friends who will also be onboard! We're going on the Magic for Christmas this year, but my children don't know about that one. They DO know about this one because their best buddies will be there too, and I can't keep that a secret. It's too funny, though, every time they moan about their next cruise being almost a year away. :rotfl2:
Can't wait to meet you all next year! :cool1:

Hi Dis'ers!!! Is there a list of all the dis'ers on this cruise put together somewhere? I didn't notice one in the first post.

Welcome 3LittleHalls!:yay:
I love double dips too! I think this is our 3d double dip - we had an impromptu one last summer thanks to whatever Tropical weather system was going on then - worked out fine! This is my 6th DCL cruise - I'm getting very excited about trying the new ship!:goodvibes I was googling articles yesterday about the dining, esp Flo's Cafe and the buffet restaurant. Looks like they are going to "stations" in the buffet, rather than just line service - cool!:thumbsup2:cool1:
Do I have a ticker yet??? I better go fix that - time to start the countdown!
Have a great holiday weekend, everyone!:cheer2:
Edited to say: Holy Cow, Tricia, my old ticker tells me it's been 6 months and 3 days since our last cruise - can you believe that! That's 1/6 of K's life!

This will be our first double dip! I am VERY excited about it!
:goodvibesOne of the great things about a double dip, is that if you have poor whether or, Heaven forbid, can't dock on the first visit, you've got another chance later in the week - takes off some of the pressure!:cool1: Also, you don't have to try to "do it all" in one stop!:thumbsup2
Also, Dreamer, I noticed you want to parasail at CC this trip. On our first double dip, I booked DS for parasailing on the first day - that excursion got cancelled due to winds, so I quickly re-booked him for the second stop. I.e., you may want to think about booking things for the first day, in case they don't work out (that's assuming there's room on the second stop day). Wild Side is good for the first stop, as a way to make friends early in the trip!

:cool2: Parasailing...hooray...I've never done it and it is definitely on the top of the list!
Also, couples massage looks so inviting. I'm thinking this should be early in the trip to get me to that relaxed stage! :cloud9:
I need to start a "cruise" jar just for the excursions!

LOL - uh, no, probably more like a second job than a jar!!! Them excursions get mighty pricey!
DH and I always get a couples massage on the Magic.:goodvibes We used to get the couples "massage and facial" - loved it! But alas, last time (Aug 2009) it was just a full body massage, looked like they stopped offering the facial option (I think the combo was just a back massage, not front and back).
I haven't looked into Dreams excursions yet...when do we get to pick? 75 days out?

Funny, Minnie, our oldest is graduating HS in June, and our twins graduate middle school then too!
That was a great cruise in '09. I was really sad not to go to Tortola, I had great plans for there. But I was grateful DCL made such a quick switch to keep us cruising in fine weather!
Where are you located? We had 14 inches of snow at Christmas, the most I've had in my 11 1/2 years here by 10 inches! We were spared the recent southern snow storm, however. Good thing - I hate when my kids (and my husband, a teacher) have to make up days - it's worse that way!

We're having a mini-family reunion on this cruise! DH and both of my DSs (they'll be 11 and 13) and I will be flying in from Nebraska on the 23rd, spending the night at OKW, and then spending the day at SSR on the 29th before flying back here on the 30th. Traveling to Orlando takes 1/2 a day with the best of flight schedules - so we're happy to ease the stress (and spend a little more time at the House of the Mouse) with a little more WDW time on both ends of the cruise.
We're going to be meeting up with my sister, her DH, their kids (15 yo nephew, 8 yo nephew, 5 yo niece, 3 yo niece) - and I believe her in-laws are also coming along. My brother and his wife may also be going. Sister and BIL are celebrating their 10 year anniversary right after the cruise.
It's close to zero here, with packed ice and snow everywhere and more on the way. July - and Disney magic - just can't get here fast enough! :cool1:

Count us in too.
It will be our third cruise, and 1st on the Dream. There will be myself, DW (Rachel), DS (Ben - 12) and DD (Katie - 11). We'll be arriving from the UK the day before so hopefully no delays, otherwise we'll be in trouble.
Looking forward to the double dip at CC, although we have been lucky enough to have this on both our previous cruises.
DS will be 13 on last night of the cruise.
Following the cruise we'll be staying in Kissimmee for a few weeks.

Anybody waiting to book their airfare? might want to check out the rates:sad2:as price of crude oil jumped due to world events.
I've been watching my travel dates since Xmas and was waiting for the prices to drop, today the flight i wanted increased dramatically. Wound up settling for the later flight, figuring it'll still give me 5 - 6 hours @ the MK pre cruise. I booked with Southwest & hoping that it'll drop between now & then & we'll have a credit for our Dec travel back to WDW.:wizard:
Pulled out my records from last summer & im paying $100 more for 2 people in airfare than I did for the 3 of us the same time period last summer.
My son has def jumped ship, so it's just me & DH this cruise (1st time ever!). Kiddo requested we head to Myrtle Beach for some sun & golf the end of June before he heads off to college in the fall. Spirit air came to town :woohoo:so I was able to make that quickie trip cheap & doable at least;)

We've decided to drive. The drive down is going to be rushed and suck, but we have plenty of time to get home. I keep checking air fare, but right now it would be $800 at least to fly, plus a rental car, so even though gas is going to be expensive, it will still be cheaper to drive.

I haven't been on here in a while and just thought I'd pop in to say hi.
It's our paid in full date tomorrow as Platinum members and we can book excursions, Palo, etc. Right now we are thinking of staying on the ship in Nassau (been there a lot and really want to enjoy the ship in port). We will probably sign up to do jet skis and parasailing at CC one day and just leave the other day at CC to relax and snorkel, possibly doing the bike rentals and float rentals.
Winter does not seem to be ending right now here in PA and we are very excited about this cruise and being in the sun!!

Okay, I have to ask...
Do you live in Hanover proper? My mom bought a house in the 300 block of Baltimore back in December of 2005 and lived there until she passed away in 2007. She even made the front page of the local paper when her moving van caught fire the night she moved in - shutting Baltimore down at rush hour three days before Christmas. She knew how to make an entrance... I live in Nebraska, and everyone there was so nice to me when I was taking care of everything after she'd passed away. My boys still go nuts for TastyKakes - you can't get them here!

I live in Hanover, PA. It's right next to Gettysburg, PA and pretty much just over the MD/PA line. Hanover is home to Utz and Snyder's chips and pretzels and Hanover Shoe Farms (big horse racing breeders). We are about an hour north of Baltimore and an hour and a half from DC.
I've been religiously checking Southwest airlines for months and tonight they lowered our price down to Orlando to $103. It had been at $160 forever. We just got a nice credit for our flights in November! Coming back it's at $158 so I'm hoping they lower those too

Oh, wow... I'd kill for those airfares. I was excited to get us at 350/pp on Southwest - it's been as high as 550.
And yup - same town - Mom owned the Kirkland house, three blocks off the town square, and a straight mile or so from the Utz factory. :-). Utz was my last stop in Hanover before driving back to Nebraska - my friend and I had the car *loaded* with Utz goodness that you can't get here!

This is our first Disney Cruise and are so excited to experience the Dream. We have cruised before on other lines. I will admit that I'm a motion sickness person, so if you see a "green" lady on deck....that would be me! Hoping for calm waters and good drugs! :goodvibes

Keishashadow - I did see a thread with the info on the days for Pirate Night pirate: and semi-formal night princess: depending on which day the 5-days departed. I'll look for it again. I don't think DH & I will do Palo this time as we're travelling with family who we just don't get to see enough of these days.
popcorn:: Did you all see that they changed the showtimes again? We were initially early show and early dining so now we'll have to see the show after dinner. I hope they still offer the matinee time for Believe and Villians - I was looking forward to doing an early show to get out of the sun, and then hitting the pool/Aquaduck after dinner when maybe it will be less crowded.
We've been working with DD(4) on her table manners, telling her she has to teach her younger cousin when we are onboard. She is just as excited as we are for this too-long awaited cruise! :cutie:

Too funny, when I searched for the thread regarding Pirate Night & Semi-Formal night, part of what I was looking for was posted by DisneyMama:
On the 5 night Dream leaving on a Sunday -
#1 group - AP - EG -EG -RP -AP
#2 group - RP -AP - AP -EG -RP
#3 group - EG - RP -RP -AP - EG
Hope that helps!
I didn't find when is Semi-Formal, but one Dis'er did indicate that Pirate Night would be on Nassau night. I wouldn't hold that as true until a few of the 5-nighters have been completed (starting in May) since so many processes seem to be changing on the Dream.

We just paid off our cruise in gift cards from Sam's club. We got them for $98 something each for $100 worth of Disney gift cards and a $10 bonus for the Disney Store. We ended up with over $300 to the Disney store! It was really easy to pay online and we could do $1,000 worth at a time.
We aren't sure when we are doing Palo dinner. We get it "free" from being Platinum members or we probably would skip and just do the dining rooms since it's our 1st cruise on the Dream. I'm thinking either night 2 or night 4. We want to go to Pirate night at the regular restaurant. We have main dining and will probably go to Palo at 7:30 so we can take the kids to the regular dining rooms and then to the clubs before we go to Palo. Our show time is supposed to be 9PM. We are going to book the brunch too since we love it at Palo.
We just ended up adding 2 days on to our trip so now we are flying back August 2nd instead of the 31st of July. We saved a ton on airfare and got Southwest credits for changing dates. We have to change resorts (to Wilderness Lodge villas from the Jambo house club level) but it will be no problem and we get 2 more days!

Just finished signing up ds10 for kid's club and getting Palo brunch and dinner. Only 11 was coming up for brunch. I'm sure they are holding some spots in the other 3 times that were listed but unavailable. We chose Palo dinner on the 2nd night so that we would not miss that restaurant since it doubles on the 3rd night and we didn't want to miss Pirate night dinner. I looked at some of the spa treatments but will wait for the in port specials. I like to do the $125 spa special in Nassau for a facial/massage and hour in the Rainforest room. I've done that one several times on the Wonder and hope they offer it on the Dream. Right now we aren't signed up for any excursion. We are staying on the ship in Nassau unless we walk to Del Sol and the straw market. We've been to the Blue Lagoon, pirate museum and Atlantis several times and want to see as much as the Dream as we can. On Castaway Cay we are bringing our own snorkel gear and will get floats and maybe bike rentals. We thought about the jet skis but they were unavailable to book. I love parasailing there so we may sign up for that later. I just want to be able to relax though and not run back to Marges Barges once we are settled in at the family beach. We may end up signing up for an early session later. We are so excited and can't wait!! I thought the new on line sign up (new to us since our last cruise in December) was soooo much easier.

I forgot to add that I saw something new on the on line check in-- it was "port arrival time" and would have given us a check in time but said since we were "platinum or concierge" passengers we would not get a time since we get first boarding. We are not concierge, but we are platinum.

I just totally lucked out and got $79 Southwest flights for our return trip on August 2nd so I got $270 credit (we had one free flight for dh). I also got another $10 credit for ds10 and I each way for our Star Wars weekends trip in June. We now have about $450 credit from everything from our original bookings for both trips. I check the Southwest.com site a few times a day. I work from home so it's easy to just constantly check it through out the day. We always rebook if a cheaper flight comes out to get the credit. Southwest lets you use the credit up to a year after first booking it.
Anyone going to be booking a new 2012 itinerary? We are getting quotes for Hawaii and one from NYC to Canada. I really want to get to Hawaii for my 40th next year but I'm not so sure about taking the boys out of school for that long. We can always go to Aulani. I'm glad to see some new routes though I'm not entirely excited about the NYC to Nassau, CC, and PC itinerary. I was hoping for something like Bermuda in there too. I'd rather just fly to MCO and do a Caribbean cruise.

Welcome Karen!:welcome: I have twin sons who will be 14 1/2 when we sail, and our nieces are coming, aged 4 and just ready to turn 3 around cruise time. This is our family's reunion cruise - Dad will be turning 75 on the 27th!
What are y'all doing about birthdays? I read on DIS today that you have to pay for a table cake these days (not that we need one, everyone has different tastes and we are always so full on our cruise). But I would like a rousing round of "Happy Birthday" for our Dad at dinner that night!:thumbsup2:bday:

Hey everyone! We are on this cruise, too! It will be me, my DH, DS(15), DS(12), DS(11), DD(8), and DD(3). I am so excited! I have been trying to book this cruise for several months now, but it have been sold out. I finally was able to get us onboard a few weeks ago....I am soooo excited!!!! :yay: I noticed several of you will be celebrating birthdays. My DH and I both have birthdays on the 7/26, and my DD will be turning 9 on the 25th. party:
My birthday is also 7/26! That's great that you both have a birthday on the same day! Do you have any special plans for that day yet?

What I've previously read and planned to do for the bdays is:
1. Tell Guest Svcs upon boarding about the b'day and request a cake at dinner on the appropriate night
2. Tell the Head Server on the 1st night about the bday and cake request and which night we'll be celebrating
3. Remind Head Server and our other 2 servers the night before the bday (depending on efficiency of the HS, this part is really just a precaution that the ball is not dropped)

Hey BeautyFan --- found this info on the same thread I found the dining rotations --- just can't remember exactly where that was!
For a 5 day double dip cruise leaving Sunday:
Sun. - cruise casual
Mon. - dress up night
Tues. - Pirate NIght (special menu)
Weds. - cruise casual
Thurs. - cruise casual (special menu)
Hope it is correct!
Thanks DisneyMama! I knew I had seen this but couldn't find it on that thread the other night. If I recall, my pillow was calling...:thumbsup2

Okay, you are in charge of that. But I read on the main forum that there is now a price list for cakes...and frankly, I doubt we'd eat it (there's always cake on the dessert menu).
Registered for my arrival time today!:cool1: Got 10:30 - that was the earliest they offered. It didn't look as if an earlier time was available.:confused3 Read a report last week that the woman got there at her scheduled time of 11 and waited 2 1/2 hours!:scared1: I would be tres bummed to get on the ship so late!

This is what I planned to do, too. I hadn't heard about DCL charging for the cake. My DH and I don't really need it, but I do want to have one for my DD's birthday on 7/25. For me, just being aboard the Dream on our birthdays is celebration enough!!! :woohoo:

Hi everyone - I can't believe it is almost time to pay in full and start booking:goodvibes. This is only our second cruise, so we have to wait until the 25 but still we can't wait. Lots and lots to do before then. MIL coming tomorrow for our DS18's final concert in Portland, so you know I am cleaning and wishing for some pixi dust to help:wizard: One more big college visit for DS out to Ohio on the 20th. Then he has to pick one and we have to start paying for college:scared1::scared1: I have been reading about the airfare, it is really crazy. DH booked a few months ago when it just keep climbing higher and higher but he checks it almost daily. Last night he saw that it went down so now we have a credit with SW. We're going to Universal after. :scared1::scared1::eek: Heresy, I know! lol. We've never been, b/c frankly, if I'm in Orlando, then I want to be in WDW the whole time.
But we are HUGE Harry Potter fans ever since the first book was released, and put off going to Harry Potter Land last year due to crowds. So...we'll be heading there for a day! Looking forward to it!:cool1:

PoohJen--We spent last Thanksgiving week at Universal. Best thing we did was stay on property, for the front of the line privledges. While we love Harry Potter, we did not love Universal. The whole town of Hogsmeade was very cool, but the crowds were unbearable. And I'm comparing this to spending the previous Thanksgiving at WDW.
The best part of doing Universal was that I talked the family into doing two Disney cruises this year! We've got a week on the Magic for Thanksgiving, after our 5 nights on the Dream.

Hi Lauri,
yes, I've already come to terms with the sticker shock of the Universal Hotels, but we will definitely spend one night, take advantage of the early Potter entry and their version of "FastPass". I know it's still in the summer, but I hope the crowds are bearable.

there doesn't seem to be much interest this trip, i tend to be game if it's a small roll call;)
we're big Universal fans, do split trips betwen WDW/U and looking forward to both MNSSHP & HHN this year. last year bunch of us DISers split a private RIP tour:woohoo:, it was amazing!
re U onsite hotels, yes, the rates have risen dramatically due to WWOHP:headache:, still they are true deluxe hotels (especially the Portofino) and far less $ than disney's comparable properties. Loews rewards their frequent guests, we're platinum & get a sweet-suite upgrade for price of standard room. It'll be hard to drop back down when it runs out lol.
I agree that WWOHP really is packing in the crowds. I just outright refused to wait an hour+get into any of the shops the weekend of Columbus Day last year after it took over an hour for the ride. All the hub-ub just has to die down:wizard:sooner or later.:confused3

I wasn't paying attention to the dining rotations that were posted in this thread awhile back for the 5 day sailings:guilty:. Had wanted to make sure we didn't miss any of the DRs.

Success for me too:
*Remy on Nassau day
*Palo on the last night
*2-day Castaway package (snorkel, bike, & float)
*swedish massage
Now the massage I would only really rate as halfway successful. I was able to book one, but almost all of the time slots were already booked! So I have to be up early for an 8 am massage. I hope there's someplace open for breakfast before I need to head to the spa. I'm going to keep checking in case they're holding some slots back.
And does anyone know for sure, since I booked a spa treatment, do I get access to the Rainforest room on that day (or whatever the equivalent is on the Dream)?

im good - for now lol. Posted a thread on main board, wondering if 7 pm res will give us enough time for the 9 pm show or I should switch to 6 or 6:30 pm?
Here are the dining rotations I copied down from an old post:
1-AP, EG, EG, RP. AP
2-RP, AP, AP, EG, RP
3-EG, RP, RP, AP, EG
They changed the show times and the dining times (of course, that could change again by the time we board.) Main dining is at 5:45, late at 8:15. There are only two show times, like on the Magic and Wonder, with main dining seeing the show after dinner, and late seeing the show before dinner.

It does seem real now! There does seem to still be a lot of availability still for excursions. My question is do you have to book the 2-day float rental ahead of time or would we be able to get it there?

believe so, we just found it easier to have the vouchers in the cabin via pre-book.
anybody else surprised so many opportunites for dining still open?

We did a double dip in 2006. You had to prebook all of the two day Castawsy Cay excursions. they were not available when you got to Castaway Cay, as they are giving you a 75% discount for the second day by booking in advance. These will not sell out, so I'm waiting to do it closer to the trip.

Silly question-I am trying to do check in and when it asks for your ID number, do they want passport info or drivers license info? We don't have a passport yet so should I wait to add this information?
Lauri

Hi Cheryl,
Yes, it's your passport number. You can leave it blank for now, and fill it in when you get your passport.
I love how Disney's system is all connected. I had not put our passport information in when booking this cruise, but recently booked another cruise and entered the info for that one. When I logged on, all our current passport info was there.

Is anyone visiting the park before or after the cruise? We just got 2 park tix and I'm debating whether to go before the cruise or not. The hot weather is what is worrying me. We always seem to go when it's hot and I swear I'll never do it again, but then I do! Decisions!!
We are flying down on the 21st and staying at AKV. We will do MK, Universal and Typhoon Lagoon pre cruise. After the cruise we are doing 3 days at AKV and then 2 at the Wilderness Lodge. We plan on Blizzard Beach and the rest of the days hopping around the main Disney parks. We have annual passes and go to WDW enough that we just sort of hit a few of our favorite rides, eat and then relax at the resort pool. We sometimes return for dinner and fireworks. My youngest ds and I go to WDW each June for Star Wars weekends and he tries to insist that we stay at DHS from before rope drop to closing. I just hope the heat isn't as bad as it was last year, which was the hottest SWW we've been to ever. I have told him we'll do one long full day and the others we are going to take a break mid day.
We will probably do floats at CC and maybe parasail or jet skis. We plan on staying on the ship or just going nearby the port in Nassau. We've done Atlantis a few times, the Blue Lagoon dolphin tour and the pirate museum on past trips.

High Tea is Sea Day, I got a ressie for 3pm. Kind of late I think since main dining is at 5:45 or 6ish. I didn't see any openings for Brunch, either. High Tea is only $10 and the scones & clotted cream sound so good! :earsboy:
I didn't try for Palo dinner but it was available. The rules that they had on the booking page said you could book 1 dinner, 1 brunch and 1 tea (based on availability) each, so even though Palo dinner was available for several nights, I could have only selected one Palo dinner reservation.

High tea is nice. We didn't book it this time because we are doing Palo brunch the same day and I can't do that much food in one day. It's hard not to eat the offerings at Palo! We are doing Palo dinner another night as we get it "free" from being platinum.
I just had my curiousity get the best of me and I ended up booking the Comfort Suites in Nassau for the day we are there. It was too good of a deal to pass up. I got the room for the 4 of us--2 adults and 2 kids (one will be 14, the other 10) and with the government rate I got it for $242.40. We will have to pay a $12.945 per person energy surcharge and a $5 per person housekeeping charge for the 3 of us over age 10. 10 and under do not pay those taxes. I called the hotel direct to get clarification on the bottom line price and to ask if we can get the discount with my husband as a police officer on leisure and they said yes. The next best deal was through AAA and that was $ 332.20. We will get 4 wrist bands and able to go into all the amenities at Atlantis. We will call the taxi driver we use when we go there and he charges $3 per person each way. I'm really excited about this as we have usually been to Nassau in cooler weather (except for one August) and know we'll want to be in water during the scorching heat. We had really planned to stay on the ship, but figure we can explore it on the sea days.

Hanover (Danielle)...Atlantis sounds like fun! :beach: Especially since I've been reading that so many people are not getting off the ship in Nassau these days. We went to Ardastra Gardens last year but missed the Flamingo march, so we might try to get up earlier this time and check it out again. It was a nice leisurely excursion at our own pace. Then hit just a little bit of souvenir shopping - I've never had one of those rum cakes! :goodvibes
It seemed to take soooo long for our tickers to get to under 100 days, and now time is just flying, and I'm already looking disgustedly at my summer wear realizing I will need a wardrobe expedition! (Yes, GA weather will be up to the 80s this weekend so summer wardrobe is a reality!) :cool2:

Both are lovely. I'm with you, though, I never like to miss dinner in the dining rooms. When I've done Palo dinner in the past, DH and I join the family for early dinner in the dining room (we just eat an app with the family) and take a later Palo ressie.
If there's nothing open, don't despair - chances are good you can still book on board - good luck!:thumbsup2

We were on the Dream in March and our stateroom (cat 5C) had a small fridge in the cabinet beneath the TV. It is a typical small size that you might find in a hotel room in the US. It is not stocked, so you can put your own beverages in it. Just guessing here ... I would say it would be big enough for a bottle of wine and at least 6-8 cans of beer or water bottles. Maybe more. We consistently had about 8 water bottles in it and it wasn't full. You can also ask your cabin steward to fill your ice bucket and use that too if the fridge isn't cold enough.

Hi everyone!
Can I join too!
We booked our July 24, 2011 cruise March 2010 and cannot wait!
We cruise often but only once on Disney Wonder.
My family of 4, ds-13, dd-17, have two aft 6Bs on Deck 6 booked with my mom, using our points.
My sister and her family of 3 little boys are in 2 insides across the hall.
We are doing 4 nights pre cruise. First night (just my dd and my mother and I flying in) at BWVs and made ressies for that night at BlueZoo and taking KTTK tour Thursday. Thursday day, my sister and her family and my dh and ds come in and we are going to THVs. They will do the parks, my family will NOT over summer!
During my open Silver CC time, I was able to make ressies for Palo for night 4 for 5 ppl for 8:30 pm. I was not able to book Remy for 5 ppl.
Then, today, I was reading about Remy and thought, let me just try again.
Booking for 5 ppl was open and so was Night 4. I booked it for 5 ppl, 7:20 pm (great time for us) and then canceled Palo. It looks wonderful and the reviews seem to be great.
Does anyone else have children closer in age to mine? We usually sail RCCL but using our points for DCL since my sister and her family never cruised.
Thanks.

No, that was SAMS club rate. The govt rate is approx $50 less when i checked today.
My DH is ex military but not retired. Choice is one of few providers that grants the military rate to both official and leisure travel w/o any military photo id or travel orders. FYI, their website states that "certain military associations are extended the rate on leisure travel". DH belongs to several such associations and we've never had a problem stateside, just not sure i'd want to be turned down in Nassau & have to pay rack rate:scared1:.
I may just keep the aqua adventure i booked & cancel the hotel reservations, it's not that big of a savings to book the hotel for just 2 people im finding;). I just hate the idea of waiting for bus at the pier & long hot walk to resort...according to reports i've read:confused3. I posted a Q on main board, maybe will get some good advice.
I just got done paying my DSs college deposit & housing fees, happy joy - not! He received almost $110,000 in offers from a bunch of universities. Turned down free ride to PITT & near-one to Thiel (grrrrr!). He fell in love with the Robert E Cook Honors College @ Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Wants to be a trader, and accepted in their Eberly School of Business honors track, seems to be a good fit for him.
if he's happy, i'm happy...repeat mantra (often) & keep signing the checks:)

keishashadow-Congratulations on your son and his admission to college and his offers! How wonderful! We are in the thick of college visits and most in PA. We are tying to keep it no longer than 2-3 hours away. We live in NY. In PA, we visited, Villanova, Lehigh, Lafayette and last week visited with Muhlenberg. We have been to UDel, Fordham and Quinnipiac. Villanova, right now, is her first choice. I guess prom and graduation are coming up soon for you. How exciting. I keep thinking this time next year she (I LOL) will be done and we will know where she is going. She took her SATs in both January and March so done with those. She is taking SAT II Subject tests this Saturday and hopefully that will be the last of the standardized testing for college. AP tests this week and next.
Again, congraulations on the offers. You must be so proud.
Regarding Nassau, have you been on cruisecritic.com? It is like the disboards but for cruising. It is a wealth of information. They have a Ports of Call board with Nassau, where you can find out much information.
Has anyone made any ressies for Remy or Palo. I am excited we were able to get Remy since we have done Palo (even though it was long ago).
The $75 is rather steep compared to RCCL that charges $25 per person for their speciality restaurants, which I also find wonderful.

Hi JS,
I grew up on Long Island and went to college waaaayyyy upstate (8 hours!). DS surprisingly chose a school only an hour away from us (he'd prefer it was halfway around the world!;) ) but went to look at it and fell in love with it. Lucky for us (he'll live there, but it definitely makes travel easier!):thumbsup2
Did you say BASEBALL????!!!!! omg, omg, omg - we are so into baseball!!!:cheer2::banana::cool1: DS 14 has been playing travel ball since he was eight - he's at his pitching lesson right now, then to the cages to hit! Wow, I just left college confidential, and I feel like I'm back there. DS 16 is finishing up his junior year. He says by the end of this year, he'll have taken every type of standardized test offered (SAT, ACT, AP, SAT II, and various local tests.) This cruise is supposed to be a well-deserved brake for him, before he starts the college application process in the fall.
DD 14 will be starting HS in September. sounds like they'll be lots of teens in Vibe.
js--as far as Remy, it's supposed to be like V & A at the Grand Floridian. DH and I went there for our anniversary two years ago, and it was really wonderful. If this was a 7 night cruise, we would definitely go. But we'll do our one night at Palo and spend the rest with the kida and check out the rotational dining on the Dream.

js yes, the disney board is rather quiet @ CC vs here. I don't visit the site much unless doing another lines' offerings, thanks for the reminder i'll check it out.
Those are all great schools. Lehigh has a program my son participated in PA Free Enterprise Workshop that is a scholarship type summer thing...not sure if non residents can avail themselves of it or not. Nice bonus is they get a small renewable scholarship if attending Lehigh. We looked @ Bucknell, Gettysburg and Drexel out your way but didn't get enough 'love';)to make it viable. Interesting thing re the private schools is many don't have that May commitment signing date. DS still has his scholarships in place waiting for him until the end of July. In PA the state subsidies, even for the private schools, is supposed to be cut drastically. Should know the end of June how much tuition is going to rise. Received a letter from Penn State indicating a $5K per semester increase projection.:scared1: Guesstimates for PA are the private schools will increase tuition up to 5%, tier 2 up to 20%, and tier 1 50% unless the new governor backs down to public pressure. I realize the budget needs balanced but it was difficult to make a commitment to attend a school a few weeks ago when the tutition is in veritable limbo.:rolleyes1rant over, back to vacation happy place lol
notice in your signature line you're a SSR owner. We will be staying @ SSR our 1st time in Oct. Requested Congress park (hoping for DTD view & ability to walk to DTD) any hints?
Hi JS,
I grew up on Long Island and went to college waaaayyyy upstate (8 hours!).
On the Disney ships, you'll find him most days hanging out on the sports deck! Sounds like they may be a good match!
OH YES, I said BASEBALL! My ds, who turns 13 next week, is baseball 12 and plays up on a travel team. He, too, is a pitcher (and catcher). We also have private pitching lessons, which my dh brings him too and hitting lessons. Baseball is his only love in sports. He doesn't play any other sport but "trys" to throw the basketball around a little. Baseball, even in NY, is 12 months a year, with workouts and lessons in the winter. I live in Staten Island (NOTE:We are NOTHING like anyone sees on TV OMG ) I am sure our kids will touch base. Heck, maybe we have played you in tournaments LOL
Hello,
For all of you looking at colleges, my DH is the Director of College Counseling for the independent school at which we both work. He would be happy to provide any advice or guidance that you might need. If you don't want to get into a public discussion on the Board please PM me. My DS just finished the process and is off to The College of Wooster in the fall.:) I am counting the days to graduation and our cruise:cheer2:
Thank you minniemouse. I, too, work in a college. It is a small private college in New York. I work in the Provost's office and so thankfull I am here!
My dd does summer lab work here with a professor for the last 3 years and since she wants to go into the sciences, it is wonderful.
Lauri
Thanks Lauri. Although my dd and mother have been to VA, my dh and I have not but we do like to go out every so often with friends to nice dinners and enjoy relaxing and taking our time with dinner and drinks. Really looking forward to it. My dd and I both go on CC. My dd told me she thinks getting into college will be harder than actually being there LOL I believe her LOL
We are all looking forward to relaxing in July!

keishashadow-I work in a private college in NY and although it isn't guaranteed, I have about 300+ schools where we get Tuition Remission, all throughout the US. They put $35K towards the school but like I said, it is not guaranteed. Although at Muhlenberg, her Admissions person really must have liked her in the interview since she told us if we keep in touch and put down EA, she will see we get the spot (they had only 6 open spots last year for Tuition Exchange). The only school that we have looked at not on our list was Lehigh. All others are on our list and I am stying on our list. $35K for a $45K+ school that she would love, I'll take it and she must too LOL
She really liked Muhlenberg but for EA, must LOVE it. For $35K I told her she needs to love it
Yes, we are SSR owners but have never been there, sorry. We are going pre-cruise at the THV, but not the actually SSR. We have been to BWVs, the cruise and THVs and going to BLT in September but never SSR. We toured there before purchasing our points and loved it. We ended up purchasing resale (well my mother purchased our points for us with the stipulation she always comes with us :thumbsup2 LOL). It looks lovely.
Talk to you all soon! Off to check my ressies for our pre cruise to make sure we have dinner scheduled somewhere for each night.
We are doing Chef Mickey's Saturday night before the cruise so the little kids (my sisters) can see the characters prior to boarding in case they miss them, they won't be looking for them.
See you all soon and Happy Mother's Day.

Hi all -- my crew (dh, ds - 10, and dd - 7) will be sailing with you as well. This will be our 9th Disney cruise but first cruise on the Dream. Looking forward to the 2 stops at CC (I booked a Cabana for both days).
If anyone has children close in age to mine - send me a PM if they would like to correspond via email prior to the cruise. DS emailed a friend for several weeks before a prior cruise and I think that the friendship was one of the best parts of the trip.

Is there a problem with the online check in? I was in the middle of it and then it told me an error occurred and now I can't get back in because it says, "Either there has been a system issue or another Guest in your stateroom or another stateroom linked to yours is currently arranging activities in My Cruise Plans. Please try again later." :badpc:

I have a massage scheduled on Castaway Cay for 10 am on the first day.

Got my hubby and son checked in - now have to wait for the computer to unlock my reservation for our connecting stateroom so that I can get my other son and I checked in. Got the 11:00 - 11:30 port arrival - which is exactly what we wanted. Only disappointment so far is that there were no cabanas available when I got online at 6 AM Central today - so we'll just have to waitlist when we get there and hope for the best.
It's 9:30 at night and 91 degrees here in Nebraska. If I'm going to have July weather, why can't our cruise be closer? :rotfl:

My son Keegan (who will be 14 this Friday) and our friend's son Jake (he will be15 by the cruise) will be living on the sports deck too. They are both double rostered on a farm team and junior legion team. Keegan is a pitcher, catcher and center fielder. Jake plays 2nd and 3rd. They have 37 games between now and July 7th and then play offs begin... my ds10 has 20 games and then traveling all stars. They both have played since they were 4. They are very much into football too and will probably be looking for kids for pick up games on the sports deck. DS10 is also a year round wrestler so we are forever in gyms and at fields! We all love it!

Hey everyone! I am just now getting on the boards for the day and I feel like I'm going through withdrawal:crazy2:! Does anyone have kids my age? DDs will be 9 and 7 when we sail but they don't know anything about it yet. We're surprising them!:cheer2:
My son Brennan turned 10 in February. My friend Beth's daughter is 8 and her middle son is 11. They will be sailing with us too. We surprised our sons with a cruise in 2006 ---they didn't know about it until we pulled up to the port and gave Keegan a final birthday gift---the cruise documents wrapped up. We had been at WDW a few days and they thought we were leaving the next day and just going to watch the Magic sail off. They were shocked and thrilled.

How frustrating!! At least you got your massage on CC. I've been thinking about doing that since we have 2 stops there and planning on the Sheraton as another beach day in Bahamas. Hi! We love to be at the games too! Baseball is my ds's only sport, THANK GOODNESS! He, too, is a pitcher, catcher and 1st base. I keep telling him there will be many boys his age on board that love sports more than Disney LOL He loves cruising (we usually cruise RCCL) and is skeptical about having teens on DCL. I am SOOO happy there will be lots of teens with a love of sports!

That's Great! I remember one year we woke up the kids on a weekday about 4 or 5 am and told them it was time to get up for school. I had a video and had my dd read some poem I got off the disboards that told them to get dressed, we were going to Disney. About 45 minutes later a limo was outside and off we went to the airport. It was great!
I also have a dd-17 and is hoping beyond hope will have other girls/boys her age on the ship. Like I said, we cruise other lines, mostly RCCL, and both kids always have a BLAST so I keep telling them there will be other teens on board other than little kids.
On RCCL, we have a cruise meet/greet where we all get together the first day at/before sailaway and everyone can meet up, perhaps the kids meet up (unless they are already looking for friends). Are we doing that this cruise?
My family is going to the Sheraton in Bahamas. Is anyone else doing that for the day?
Have a great week everyone and I so hope this rain STOPS although we are suppose to have it ALL week. My dd is going to her bfs Senior Prom on Wednesday and our college has Commencement on Friday and when it rains, it is in the gym and SO stressful for lineup, seating, etc., since my office is the one that oversees Faculty and Student Line Up :scared1:
My mother, dd and I are heading to Disney on Wednesday and the rest of our group is coming in on Thursday. We booked the Keys to the Kingdom Tour on Thursday since we usually just visit a park and this will be something new.
Going to BlueZoo Wednesday night, just the 3 of us, and that will be new too.
Have you all made your plans to get to the Port? We will be staying at THVs and booked Tiffany Towncar to pick us up at THV to Port and Port to MCO.
I found their prices very good and it includes a stop to the store so we will make a wine, liquor, beer and water stop

Shhh... don't tell my boys - they think we're taking Disney Transportation to the port from OKW and then back to SSR when we get back... but we booked with Happy Limo for an actual stretch limo for the "to port" portion of our trip. I have some friends who work for Disney or Universal, so at least I'd know some people down there too :)

Cheryl,
DD(4) wanted to pack last night instead of going to bed. ::MinnieMo Quite a scene as I explained that since she had school on Thurs it was more important to go to bed, and she could start packing when she got home from school.:teacher: I had to work late today so DH came home early with her. By the time I got home, her dresser was empty and her suitcase was overflowing! :rotfl:

I'm with your DD (4)! I really want to start packing but I'm trying to resist the urge until the week of July 4th. DD's Grandma will be here and we are going "cruise shopping" for EVERYTHING! I can't wait! :woohoo:

I'm soo ready to go!!! But I'm not an early packer at all. If I pack too early I'm always afraid I forgot something and have to dig in the suitcase to make sure. So best guess is that I will probably pack Friday night after work, or Saturday morning before our flight! :thumbsup2

I'm with you on that one. I'm usually not an early packer either but I will be packing DDs suitcases weeks in advance because "Grandma wants to buy all of the cruise outfits for her grandbabies when she visits in early July"! Have at it! :woohoo: Me and DH have to do our own shopping so I'm sure that the two of us will be packing the night before we leave as well. I just wish that night would hurry up and get here. It's taking forever! :bored:

We aren't early packers either. We'll probably pack the day before we leave. We pretty much have down to a science what we take on cruises. We just ended up adding 3 more days to the start of our trip. We booked the resort through DVC and no fee to change our flights so it's just a few days extra on the car rental plus food. My parents are going to be in Clearwater the same time with my aunt and uncle who will be visiting from Australia. They are going to Disney for 2 days on the 18/19 and we decided to go a few days earlier than planned so we can meet up and surprise my aunt/uncle. My parents know we'll be there. I also booked an illuminations cruise for the night of the 18th and very excited about that.
We are in PA and this is our first day in a week without rain. Between my 2 boys, they have 7 baseball make ups from missed games. My ds14 has 37 games from last Saturday until July 7 and then play offs. My ds10 still has a good 10 games of his regular season, play offs and then traveling all stars. They play districts the first week of July, have a Ripken touranment in Aberdeen and then States (if they make it, which they should) starting on July 15. We'll most likely go from a hotel at the state tournament to the hotel we are staying at near BWI before flying out early the 18th.
My boys have just over 2 weeks of school left and their end of the year is busy, busy, busy. DS10 and I go to WDW in 2.5 week for Star Wars weekends and we can't wait!!

So I know I asked this before, but only 1 person really answered.....is anyone interested in a FE exchange? I just helped a friend with hers, and I got excited about it again. :)

We've never done one, but it sounds like fun. We'd be interested if you have enough.

You won't have a chane to breathe...let alone be bored and twiddle your thumbs until cruise time! How awesome to have such a successful yard sale! We have never done one because we always give it away to Goodwill or the Salvation Army but every time I see the show "Clean House" I feel like I should try one!

Still trying to decide on this one. Never done it before as this is our first cruise. I'm thinking about doing it, but don't know what all is involved and how much extra I would have to "lug" around in my bags. :confused3
Hi!
Hope all have a great Memorial Day weekend!
It's my birthday this week but will be celebrating at baseball tournaments all weekend and going to to dinner with my mother on Sunday.
Can't wait until we can say we are "leaving next month!".
Finally not raining here today although very cloudy. I'll take it though since we've had almost 2 full straight weeks of rain :scared1:
Talk to everyone soon!

We have done FE on all of our previous cruises and the kids love it. I would be willing to do it on this cruise if there are enough people interested (but not too many - our last cruise had 30 cabins - I had to have one suitcase filled with my FE gifts only - and my husband said never again).

:cheer2::cheer2:Yes, Nanny is coming to visit this weekend and has already mentioned going to the outlets to get DD her cruise clothes. Just printed a coupon from Childrens Place Outlet for Mem Day Weekend. princess:
As for me, I am still optimistic I will lose a few more pounds before the cruise so refuse to shop for my current size! :rolleyes1

Are you my kindred spirit or what?! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE The Children's Place and Oshkosh! And I live by their coupons!
You are not by yourself on the weight thing. I am trying really hard to lose more weight so that I can wear a swimsuit without scaring everyone on the boat! Time is a tickin' so I'd better pick up the pace a bit. Gotta lose it so I can EAT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!! :lmao:

it's easy, so many creative ideas posted here!
i like to get something for everybody's FE pocket
so, did everybody get an email today from DCL re the cruise? I was scared to open it, afraid we were getting an 'unwanted' upgrade. Glad it was just confirming cruise details.

Hi all! It's been a while as things are really hectic here with the winding down of the school year. But I know the cruise is getting closer, as I got a call from Southwest yesterday letting me know that our flight time was changed on our return flight.
Our family has never done the FE exchange, so I think we'll pass.
Is anyone staying by the port the night before the cruise? I'm excited that we'll get to see the Magic take off, and then we get to sail on her in November.
