this will be cruise number 2 for us. Do you have children? We have a daughter age 5. I am wondering about the sting rays and if we should book the ex.

I don't have any children. I am going on the cruise with a friend from work. I have never done the sting ray excursion, so not sure if it gets full early. We usually spend the day laying on rafts in the water!

Looking forward to my first cruise (Disney or otherwise). Taking my two boys (8 and 10), and very much looking forward to it. We're doing the Aquaventure Dolphin event in Nassau. I wish I had some insights for you, but--again--we're flying blind here. Very excited!

This is my 5th Disney Cruise. I have no kids and choose Disney because of all the great adult only activities! I am hoping April will be my first cruise with my 5 month old goddaughter, but for now I am looking forward to the quiet cove pool!!

I like to stay on the boat while in Nassau. Sometimes we head to Atlantis for some gambling, but I enjoy spending the day at the pool and doing some of the activities on the ship!

I think the weather can be hit or miss. I have only done a cruise in January and one weekend it was 85 the whole time and the next weekend it was in the 60s. I live in Florida and we have been having some really warm weather so I am hoping it stays that way for February!

However she is just so hard to predict sometimes. Im hoping she will make a friend so she will want to go and hang out in the kids section.

FE or Fish extender is a bag with pockets for each person in your group you hang next to your door on a metal fish. (you can look up fish extender on ebay for what they look like) Other people on the cruise who are doing extenders also have a bag. You go around filling each person extender with little gifts each day. And they fill yours. It's just a little fun think and keeps the kids busy in the am when not much is going on. My daughter loved to give the gifts as much as she loved to get them. Let me know if any of you want to do them this cruise and we can start a list with your stateroom number and names ages of people in your group. Thanks Jill

We did that excursion back in May. I thought it would be so much better. The tour is ok but a little much for my 5 year old. And it stoped in the Casino and pt out things she could have cared less about. I thought the Aquarium would have been a lot better (Bigger). It looks so nice in all the pics you see. The tanks with fish are gray and dirty. The waterpark looked great but we didn't get that with our excursion. After the tour we ended up walking around a little and just coming back to the boat. I wasn't thrill with how much it cost for what we got.:headache:Maybe you'll have better luck, just thought I would let you know.
We are so looking forward to the cruise!!:yay: Is this your 1st one?

Hi. Yes this is our first Disney Cruise! thanks! We are DVC members and have gone to WDW many many many times :) but this is the first time we are trying a cruise. My daughter (7) loves fish (all marine life) and swimming so that's why we're doing the Atlantis Aquarium excursion. I want to check out Atlantis and this is a good way for us both to be happy! --and for less than $100 for the both of us, that's fine. Although my daughter is most excited about free ice cream on board!

We didn't get to swim at Atlantis it was not part of the excursion we bought but when my daughter is older I would go back for the water slides. We also have been to Disney world many many times. Once you do the Cruise you will be hooked my husband and I like it better then Disney world. Ha ha about the Ice Cream they will send mickey bars to your room even though it's not on the room service menu!! I don't know who likes that more my daughter me or my hubby.

HI~
I know my daughter would love to do the water slides, but I'm going to try to convince her with the swimming on board and at Castaway Cay, we don't have to do that (that will work, right? :rotfl:). She does love aquariums, so I know she'll enjoy looking at the fish. And, oh, yes, the Mickey Bars...I'm sure we'll get those as well...and cake...and more icecream...and cookies...and they'll have to roll us off the ship at the end! Think I'll up my workouts now in preparation! ---and then off to zebra dome land when we get off the ship....more calories!!!!

Maybe the sun can reflect off the snow and help with a tan! :rotfl2:

Blizzard is considered the more adventurous water park. They have better slides and are geared more towards adults. The kid’s area is super cool. They have slides and zip lines, but they also have the deepest water in the park. Odd right? I guess with the zip line it has to be a certain depth of water.

Is there a meet set up? DVCMikey & I may join if anything is set up:goodvibes
Doesn't look like anything is set up. Do you want to set a time and place? This is our first Dis cruise, so I'm not familiar with the ship. Thanks.

Mike and Tink, are you guys together and just posting under different names?

So glad the weather is improving and can't wait for Thursday. We are in 5508 and I guess it's too late for us to do FE's, but I am down for the meet if we can put it together.

I've been on the ship before but not sure where we would meet... Maybe the Promenade Lounge? It's a central place that is easy to find.

hubby and me (Tracy) are so excited for our first cruise!! I am flying down to Fla tomorrow night to meet hubby who is already there for business. We will be in 5058 (not doing FE). Will check the board tomorrow night or Thurs am to see if meet is set. I would love to meet everyone and maybe we can get a quick group photo. Looks like we should get good weather! Happy Cruising and see you all soon!
:cool1:

Hey, Tracy! My hubby and I are from Illinois, and both went to SIUC....I assume by your DIS name that you're a Saluki, too? We aren't doing the FE but will probably join everyone at the meet. We'll have to get together!

On my last cruise, we had our DIS meet in the Promenade Lounge and it was the perfect place!

We'll be wearing disney name pins..see you there.

I posted this on our Feb 21 cruise, but it applies here too!
All I can say is..brrrrr! The wind is unbelievable here at Cape Canaveral. It did get up to 57, but it was short lived. The temp is supposed to go way down the next day or two, and then go up some.

The hotel (County Inn and Suites) is wonderful. They greeted us so nicely, gave us a beautiful room (best I've gotten through priceline) and treated everyone to a meet and greet type thing tonight, where they fed us ribs, tortilla's properly filled, a couple different salads, free wine, beer and soda. Cookies are free at the front desk..life is good.
Our room is very clean...looks like it was recently redone. It has bunk beds and a single bed in a small room, with a tv, and a micro, coffee pot and fridge, table, tv and of course the bed in the main room. Warning to those that smoke. There is no smoking her at all. You sign a paper saying you agree to pay a $250 cleaning fee, if you smoke in the hotel.Shuttle is free to the port. The front desk people are very very nice. Breakfast is free in the morning. Too cold for the pool, which is too bad. It's beautiful. Has a hot tub and kiddle pool as well.

I hope everyone had fun...we sure did. Kagan loved giving and receiving the FE gifts. You all are WAY more creative than I was! Would have preferred better weather, but a chilly day on vacation is better than a warm day when I have to go to work.

Thank you all again for everything! Can't wait to go back!:lovestruc

I'll be writing a review, once we get home. Just off the second half of the b2b (which was really nice, having the ship to ourselves for two full hours!

In short, I was very disppointed in Disney's response to my slipping on wet food/water on the deck (which seems to be a real problem..I wasn't the only one to go down..others did during the week. They really need more help keeping that area dry and clean. I thought I was being cautious when on deck). It took til the last night of. the first cruise to find an ace bandage, and they showed very little concern, (but they did send chocolate dipped strawberries, which were free in the late evening on Route 66 snack area). Finally on the second cruise, they did agree very reluctantly agree to pay the health center bill ($330 of which $143 was just the visit). I'll still have more medical bills when I return home, because their xray wasn't able to see the smaller bones, and the doc said I should get it re xrayed.

The food and regular service was wonderful. We loved Castaway. Cabin was a nice size both cruises, although we got very little sleep the second cruise, because of all the moving of furniture all night over our cabin. I called guest services, it would stop for 15 minutes, and then start again. Not enough for us to do during the days, and not a whole lot at night, other than Route 66 area. We like games during the day and seminars. The galley was over us.

Prob our first and last cruises on Disney, (although that is more about not wanting to see the same Disney shows again, and not enough to keep us busy, and liking to eat 'whenever', and not about the service on the cruise) although we still had a good time.

I have been on 3 3-day cruises and I had a great time as usual. Minus the lovely sickness that arrived on Castaway Day. I spent our final night in the bathroom. :( Not sure if it was food poisoning or the Noro Virus, but whatever it was, it was not fun!

Thank you to the person/people who left the little surprises in our stateroom (5018) That was very sweet!

I thought the food was great, better than my 7 day.

Loved Sway!! We had another duo on the 7 day that was horrible, so I was loving Sway and could not get enough of them.

Was not impressed with the adult host or the DJ. I could have played better music with my IPOD.

Had great room hostess and servers!

I just love the Disney Cruise! But after 5. I think its time for so new Pirate Party and Sail Away music!!!

DMRick:

I had to go to the health center the last night. I called and explain what was wrong and the guy told me "Hurry up, We are closing." When I got there they did not even check my temperature. Just threw some drugs at me and told me to wash my hands. Glad I did not have to pay for that!

I always say those decks are so slippery. I finally found flip flops that have good enough traction, but they are so dangerous!!

Hi Jenn. We tried to catch you in your room. I finally asked our room steward to put some play dough in your room. I hope it made it there! I know you didn't have youngsters, but thought you could have some fun with it. We were just down the hall from you, with the Mickey Sorcerer hat on the door.
My sandals were not slippery..they have lots of traction. But the food with the water did me in...the combo was slippery. Another person fell shortly after I did, after I asked them to put the slippery sign up, and they didn't (: She said she was sore all over, but was ok a couple days later.

My husband has been sick since last night, and we missed our segway riding today, as he rests up. Did you have to pay when you went down to the health area? I did tell them he was sick when I asked for the moving above us to be stopped. They noted it.

We did get the play dough!!! Thank you! We are actually both teachers so it was great! We walked down the hall to see where your room was! How funny that we were so close!

I have seen so many people fall on those decks. You would think they would find something that would help with that!

I did not pay anything in the health area. But all they did was handed me meds and send me on my way. I just talked to another teacher at my school, who was also on our cruise, and her daughter had the same sickness I did. But hers was the first night of the cruise. They made her stay in the room the whole time. They were not allowed to go to dinner and sent them menus from each restaurant to the room. They also brought them a DVD player with a list of movies. Looks like Disney keeps the sickness pretty hidden.

Hope everyone feels better soon!

Wow I'm glad we didn't end up with the sickness! And that really stinks about you falling and getting hurt! Disney is normally very on top of that stuff :confused3

I wasn't terribly thrilled with the service on the cruise, maybe it was just our servers but they definently were not up to the disney standards that we are used to :sad2: I was expecting a lot more as far as food quality and variety as well. The chocolate cake we had a Pinochio's Village Haus in MK the other day was better than any of the deserts we had on the entire cruise :scared1:

The best place we ate, and the best service was in Beach Blanket (and yes we went to Palo's..was I the only person not impressed?) on pirate night. It was casual, but we were served. The service was great as was the food. The chef up there was a great cook! There were only about a dozen families, and I just couldn't get over how good it was. Better than Palo at no extra cost.
As for Disney being on top of injuries..I didn't get that impression from others I talked with. I was really surprised to have so many people share stories with me. I think they are really dropping the ball. Tonight we ate at Cat Cora's restaurant, instead of Cape May, where we have had reservations for weeks. I explained my husband had been ill on our cruise, and that he would like to just sit with tea while I ate, or even pay for soup, and they said no, he had to pay for the buffet. I even talked with the manager, because guest services said it was up to him. So we went across to Boardwalk and ate at Cat's place, where hubby just had a bowl of soup (yes, I realize that Cape May is a buffet, but exceptions are often made at Disney. I know they have an exception for those who have had the stomach stapling, because someone was with us last year, and they offered her children's price). I think I am freally Disney'd out.

We had a really good time on the cruise. I had no complaints. Great stateroom, and host. Not the best servers, but not the worst. We stayed on the ship Nassau day, went to the spa, did the beer, martini and whisky tastings, had our best meal a Palo, and then spent a relaxing day on Castaway Cay, parasailing and then relaxing on the beach. It was a pretty great weekend. We both wished we had booked a longer cruise. :thumbsup2
