I am reading the DVC brochure on the BCV. It is a glossy 8 1/2 x 11 pamphlet that is part of the membership materials that we received in the sales presentation recently. On the front page there is the statement, "Currently offering full access to all of the amenities available at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts..." I focused on the word currently. Does that mean in the future there is the possibility DVC members at the BCV may not be able to access the amenities of the YC/BC such as Stormalong Bay? I always assumed in looking at the BCV that Stormalong Bay, etc. was part of the deal.

I'm glad to know I wasn't the only fearful person to focus in on that word-"currently". DS likes to work out, and the summer issue of vacation magic says "currently during your stay, you'll enjoy complimentary use" [of Ship Shape Health Club]. That made me kind of nervous too.

What gives a DVC member at the BCV the right to use the amenities of the YC/BC? Is it something that is assumed, or is there anything in writing?

I believe that BCV members have posted that Stormalong Bay is listed in the official paperwork as an amenity of BCV.

I think they use the word "currently" in case the pool or club is closed for some reason, such as renovations.

Kick it up a notch!

I think currently is to protect them from overcrowding the amenities and if they need to limit them to DVC members. They probably don't know exactly what impact BCV will have on them, but if you have cash guests paying big $$$ for rooms they will be pretty upset if they can't use the amenities of the resort because DVC members are using them.

Hence no more pool hopping at SAB

From the BCV Public Offering Statement:

Certain other recreational and commonly used facilities are made available to Owners, Club Members, their guests, exchanges and renters of the Beach Club Villas through the Common Facilities Agreement and are described as follows:

(i) Feature Swimming Pool and Sun/Bathing Deck: One (1) feature swimming pool and one (1) sun/bathing deck is built and available for use. The sun/bathing deck is approximately 73,000 square feet in size and the feature swimming pool is approximately 29,000 square feet in size and ranges in depth from zero (0) inches to eight (8) feet. The feature swimming pool is heated and has a capacity of 1200 persons.

Looks like the intent is for DVC members at BCV to have full use of Stormalong Bay.

With DVC running until 2042 I would think, legally, that Disney would have to phrase the various sporting offerings in such a way. I could see a POSSIBILITY where SAB ( or the gym facilities) were changed, altered or closed either temporarily or permanantly. IMHO Disney is covering themselves for unforseen future changes.

Well I have to say that if I bought at BCV and then found out I wasn't going to be allowed to use SAB I would not be a happy camper.

hi: i know when we bought at bwv and also when we added on there, the word "currently" was included in the statements. i believe they also used that wording for vwl, since all of these are linked to hotel resorts.
