I am so excited! Talk about fast results! I read on this discussion board that I could call my guide and put my name on a waiting list for add-on points for BWV(my home resort) even though it is already sold out. He confirmed that there is indeed such a list, and I added my name on March 8 for 50 points. My guide just called me to say that my 50 points came through and I will get the paperwork in the mail in 3 or 4 days.

The points are for the same use year, which will help keep things simple for tracking my points. I'm thrilled that I will have all my points at BWV!!

I used the waiting list just on the off-chance that I might get lucky. Well, I DID get lucky and in such a short amount of time too!

If any of you would like to try the waiting list for BWV points, maybe it's not too late for you too!

Thanks to all of you who contribute your knowledge and experiences to this board! You're terrific! :D

absolutely wonderful! we were toying (okay i admit it was just me) with the idea of another add on at bwv. it's truly addictive-we just added a 150 point contract in the fall.

We called our guide last week and asked to be on the list, too. Haven't heard anything yet, but hoping we'll be as lucky as you!!
Congrats and thanks for posting your results!

Just wondering what was the price that add-ons go for if Disney sells them to you??

They are the same price that points are currently being sold for by Disney. $72 per point. Dues will also be the same for the add-ons as for my original BWV points.

That's odd...I called my guide last week looking for 80 points (to round off my total - I needed some excuse) She said the list is too long and probably won't happen. So I let it go. Go figure, I'll have to call her back again!

Congratulations on your add-on!!! I'm really angry at my guide. I ask him about a 150 point add-on for BWV last month and he told me that they used to have a list, but not anymore. He wanted me to look at my options for WL or VB. So I called him yesterday and said we wanted to add on with VB, since the MB there is great and I should get the paper work in a couple days. Now, I read this thread this morning and quickly called my guide and found out he's on vacation, hmmmm. Anyways, I talked to someone else and she said our guide didn't want to give us false hope since there is nothing really available. I told her to put me on the list for anything, 10, 50, 100 points or what ever comes up. Personally, I think she didn't put my name down because her tone sounded like "whatever". At least I have my name at a brokers too. So whoever calls me 1st gets my hard earned money :)

If I understood my guide correctly, there are different wait lists according to what month the use year is for. Must have something to do with which contracts they are "reselling." My month is December, and there was only one person ahead of me on that wait list. That person had only requested 50 points, so I thought my chances might be good. Maybe other months have longer waiting lists or something??

My guide has been SOOO helpful and positive in any dealings I've had with him so far. I would recommend him to anyone. I don't know if it's appropriate to mention his name here though.

If I were those of you who were discouraged from the wait list, I'd call back and pin down my guide! Again, if my request came through in less than 2 weeks, we know there is hope! Good luck!

I would like to hear what your guide has to say. But for some reason, I think Disney only wants you to deal with your original guide. Plus, I don't want to hurt anyones feelings since I'm sure they get paid on commission.

I just got finished leaving a message for the guide that we first worked with, but we ended up buying resale. So hopefully he will put me on a waiting list for Boardwalk and so I too can add on some more points.

Travelbug CONGRATULATIONS! I am jealous! I have wanted to do an add-on, but my choices are very limited. I live in NY so VWL is out unless I go to Orlando. Vero and HH are the only places I can purchase from NY, and I usually like to stay at DW so I like having the 11 month window. BW is my favorite,I REALLY want to buy more there, but I am thinking about just waiting and buying BCV, it's not that far off, and I like the Epcot area.
Diaman, I think we have the same guide because he gave me the same information and he is on vacation starting today! Too bad he didn't out either one of us on the list when we asked, we might also be sharong the good news!
Oh well, I may just have to wait.

When I called my guide yesterday about adding more points at the Boardwalk, he told me nothing was available and he didn't say anything about a wait list. After reading this post I called my guide again and after he spoke to his supervisor, he told me there were some points available, so I did get to do an add on today. Thanks to the OP for starting this thread. I probably wouldn't have check back if it wasn't for this post.

Congratulations! You must be very lucky! What I don't get is why guides seem to have different info. Somebody must be telling them that the wait list for points is full- I can't imagine why they would turn down a potential sale! Maybe it's right that only small amounts are available. Anyway, at $72 a point, I think anyone looking for 150 or more should definitely look into resales. BTW, when you add on small amt of points do you get year 2000 points as well as 2001?

John,
Did you actually get to ADD-ON TODAY??????? Which resort were you interested in BWV or OKW? Did they have your use year, or did you just get any available use year? What size point package were you interested in? If you were lucky enough to add-on, I say congratulations, but I am a bit upset with my guide for telling me that their was no list, and trying to sell me HH or Vero, because he knew we could not buy vwl from NY.

Congratulations, john! Good for you for sticking to your guns and getting some add-on points so quickly! I'm glad my info was helpful. I too benefited in the first place from someone else's post a couple weeks ago about the waiting list. This discussi on board is great!

I have a feeling that a lot of guides' phones have been ringing today, or will be ringing tomorrow!

To answer another question, yes, I did get the 2000 points as well as the 2001 points. And the reason I didn't go for resale is becau se I only was in the market for 50 points and thought I might not see a resale for that little. That is probably my ignorance and inexperience showing, but that's what I was thinking. So I decided to do the waiting list, and thankfully it worked out!

Again, good luck to all who give the waiting list a try! I'm rooting for you!

Ann-I did get to add on today at the Boardwalk. I did get my use year. I told my guide I was looking for anything between 25 and 100 points and he said he would check and came back with 25. He said they are very hard to get and that was all they had for my Sept. use year. I got the 2000 and 2001 points. I'm not sure but I think when you add on below a certain amount of points that they have to find the points with your current use year.

When I put my name on the waiting list, I gave my guide my credit card number. I authorized him to immediately charge the points to my credit card when they became available. I didn't want to worry about being out of town or playing phone tag if and when my name got to the top of the list. (I hadn't planned to finance the add-on points anyway, so running it through my credit card was fine.)

Just something to consider for anyone thinking about doing the waiting list thing.

Why don't you just fly or drive down to Hilton Head for the day and buy your VWL points there,It's alot closer than Orlandof

Travelbug I think you were right to go to Disney for 50 points it would be very hard through resale to get the right amount with the same use year. And what a good idea to give CC- another advantage with buying from Disney. I only mention resale for the larger add ons- 150 points and above.

I have looked into resales, there are not enough around, and since I am only looking to add 100 points, there is not much savings over buying directly from Disney.
Thanks for the HH suggestion. I did not realize that that was an option. ( another thing my guide forgot!) I have finally gotten on the "list" but I am also considering just speaking directly to the supervisor like John did and see what happens.
I am upset with my guide because I contacted him a month ago and was told that no such list existed. Now I see other people are able to get more points and all I am being offered is HH or Vero. ( Not to say these are not nice, I have never stayed at them, I am sure they are beautiful resorts) I just want to go to WDW and so that's where I like to buy. I would have bought VWL if it were available because it's on property. If I have to wait until November, I may just wait for BCV, because I like the location of the Epcot resorts.
I am going to give it time, I am not in a hurry. I would not do MB,if I bought VWL, so I am not upset about missing out on that.I have been looking since Jan. but I don't feel any pressure, so hopefully something will come through on the list.

Do you think Disney is buying contracts back? I think it might be a good idea for them to do so. They can probably buy back a contract and turn right around and sell it at a profit.

If your guides first name is Chris, than we have the same person. I just don't understand why he didn't tell me the truth and be upfront with me. That way I can make my own decision about the situation. I think I'm going to try and talk to a supervisor today. Hope it's not the same person I talked to yesterday. <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

Diaman,
Yes we do have the same guide. I feel the same way as you. I wanted BWV points and he knew that. I am not sure if the incentive for them to sell HH and Vero is higher, He knew I could NOT purchase VWL so he kept offering me Vero with MB. I have NEVER used MB, when I buy I want my points, not the cash offering. I want the 11 month window, and I don't want the pressure of the 7 month shuffle. The majority of my points are at BWV, (though I have OKW points too.)
I have decided that I will jsut wait and see what happens with the waitlist. I too am going to call the supervisor and see what they have to say, though I don't hold much hope out for that. The only advantage I have is I don't feel pressed into buying. Good Luck Diaman. It seems a few others have been lucky, so maybe we will be too!

Don't give up on the waiting list! I got an e-mail today from fellow DVC members who had asked for my guide's name because their guide had nixed the waiting list and another guide didn't return their phone calls. Then they called my guide, and he immediately put their name on the waiting list. So the waiting lists are still functioning and maybe worth a try. If anyone else has good luck via a waiting list, do let us know! ? :) ?
