If you are going to Hilton Head and flying, what airport do you suggest flying into? We are thinking of going later this year and are not sure which airport is closer or best to fly into for a Hilton Head visit. <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

Savannah is the closest major airport- about a 45 minute drive away. You can also fly to Charlotte and get a shuttle flight directly to HH.

I thought those were the two possibilities, although I didn't know about the shuttle from Charlotte. Which would you suggest? If you fly into Charlotte and take the shuttle to HH is there somewhere you can rent a car at HH?

Yes, rentals are available at HH. MS may even be able to reserve for you.
Personally, I'd fly into Savannah unless you can get a good deal into Charlotte. The ride form Sav. is pretty easy.

Hilton Head actually has its own airport which is only about ten minutes from the resort. It is a little more expensive to fly into, because due to its size, only a few airlines fly there. It definitely is the closest, though.

When hubby and I were going to HH, hubby called the resort and whoever he spoke to told him he can fly either into Savannah or Mrytle Beach Airport...

P.S.... We did Mrytle Beach because we were able to get a better flight.. WRONG!!!! we go to get our car rental and find out that we now have a 3 to 3 1/2 hour drive!... Was I totally pissed!
and of course my hubby didn't get the name of the person he spoke to.

Also -- like another poster said -- HH has a small airport but its more expensive. I think most people would do Savannah...
