I booked the DDP for my March trip but if I want to cancel it ....... can I???
Do I need to do it before I arrive or can I just tell them when I check in that I decided not to do it.

Assuming this is a package reservation, you will need to cancel the dining plan at least 45 days out if you don't want change penalties. I don't think you can make any changes to your package after 48 hours prior to check-in.

If it's a DVC points stay, the rules will likely be different (no 45-day window), but I think you'd still have to cancel 48-72 hours before checking in.

It is a vacation club stay.
So I would need to cancel at least 3 days before?

As a DVC member staying on points, you must call Member Services and have the plan removed from your reservation no later than 48 hours prior to your arrival date. (If you're renting points, you need to have the member call - Member Services will deal only with the actual member.)
